As a big fan of Beijing yogurt, I thought Yomie's might be worth a try. Spoiler alert: it was just alright. I shelled out $9 for the mango yogurt, and honestly, it was pretty mid. Imagine paying premium prices for a yogurt that's icier than a winter's day and has crunchy bits of ice--yeah, not ideal. The mango yogurt was more yogurt than mango, and at times, I couldn't even tell it was supposed to be mango. It felt like a watered-down, icier version of Beijing yogurt with some mango bits thrown in for good measure. Then they slapped on a hefty price tag. Was it worth $9? Absolutely not. You can get better quality yogurt at your local Chinese bakery without breaking the bank. Think I got a similar drink at Rainbow Bakery once for only $6 AND it was larger. For what it's worth, Yomie's felt more like a glorified and overrated Beijing yogurt. Think fancy Instagram spot rather than a genuine yogurt haven. Sure, the aesthetics might draw you in, but the substance doesn't quite match up. The guy at the counter looked rather confused when I spoke to him and asked me to repeat myself multiple times. Maybe he didn't understand English very well, which made for an interesting experience. However, I did get to try their purple rice yogurt from a sample they had outside, and I must say, it was definitely a step up from the mango yogurt. It's more watery than traditional Beijing yogurt, but if you find yourself there, the purple rice yogurt is worth a shot. Would I come back? Nah, I think I'll pass. There are plenty of other places that deliver on taste without the hefty price tag or the Instagram hype.

Cute bubble tea shop located near the subway station. The store is pretty small but they do have seats and a table if you want to sit inside. I stoped by to grab a drink and try their popcorn chicken and really enjoyed everything. I ordered the strawberry yogurt drink which was really good and we also ordered the regular milk tea with pearls which was also really good. Everything is decently priced and worth the money.

This right here, folks, is a glorified smoothie. Was it a delicious smoothie? Yes. But it doesn't quite change the fact that it was a smoothie for me. We tried the Passion and Lychee Oat flavors, both of which were yogurt-y (shocking) with just a splash of fruit. I was super excited for my Passionfruit one because I saw some of the reviews hype her up and talk up the actual passionfruit that I'd be able to taste inside, but I think mine was reaaaal blended together so I got passion flavor but no proof of the passion. Ultimately, though, it was a good, thick, passionfruit smoothie with an emphasis on the yogurt ingredient. I will say that it was more like breakfast than an actual drink. I didn't try their classic yogurt with purple rice upon strong recommendation against it from my sisters, both of whom found the rice unappetizing in a drink. That may just be them, though, and I'm inclined to go back one day to try it for myself... but I'd probably stick with boba if I were craving something to drink.

What did I just drink?! It's so good! Yomie's was on my list for a while ever since my sister had a purple rice boba in Hawaii. But Yomie's purple rice drink is even better! Forget boba. Get the chewy purple rice! Purple rice yogurt 5/5 I requested less ice and almond milk. It was perfect.

Nice! another new drink shop in the area specializing in yogurt drinks! Stopped by during their soft opening and tried 4 different flavors of yogurt drinks - my favorite was the passion fruit yogurt drink where it's a nice balance of fruityness and yogurty, it reminds me of mango lassi just with passion fruit flavors. My friends like the mango one and the dragon fruit one. I also got to try their signature purple rice yogurt drink which was interesting and chewy, I think I prefer to stick to fruity flavors. Worth a try if you like yogurt & fruits. Love that they use a lot of fresh fruits as the base of the drink, it's creates a good balance, some are a bit sweeter than what I would normally prefer but still pretty refreshing and unqiue, check it out if you're looking for a new spot to try in flushing! Super friendly staff, and do expect some wait time if they're busy. Overall 4-4.5 stars, bumping it up to support new local businesses in the area!

I was fortunate to be invited to Yomie's soft opening this weekend! Thanks to Vicky and her staff for the invite & hospitality! Honestly, I was curious about their Purple Rice x Yogurt drinks but a little apprehensive since I tend not to like overly milky drinks. (This is the same problem I have with Tiger Sugar's Brown Sugar Boba Milk). Since this was just a soft opening, their hot drinks weren't available but there were plenty of cold drinks to choose from. I was tempted to try one of their many fruity yogurt drinks (see my photo for menu) but ultimately chose their signature drink: Purple Rice Yogurt drink. Well....I loved it! What a nice surprise! Upon first sip, I tasted the slightly tangy yogurt; followed by the chewy/chunky purple rice. This was delicious. I loved the chewy purple rice and this could do serious battle over boba. This was a refreshing drink; pretty filling and only slightly sweet. I don't like overly sugary drinks so this was perfect for me. Good luck to Yomie's Rice x Yogurt! Next time I'm in Flushing, I will stop by to try their other beverages. Note: there is also a Yomie's in Elmhurst, Queens but with different owners. Check out Yomie's in Flushing, and while you're there, stop by next door for some Doufuhua (soy bean pudding) at Soy Bean Chan's (it's a Soy Bean/Flower shop), which is right next door!

Yomie's Rice x Yogurt (有米酸奶), an Australian chain that sells yogurt-based drinks, now has a second New York City location -- in Downtown Flushing, Queens. This drink category is popular in East Asia, China, and Australia, and now Yomie is bringing it to the United States and Canada. Thanks to a Yelp friend, I had the opportunity to visit during the Downtown Flushing location's soft opening. Yomie's differentiation is that most of their drinks are made with yogurt; healthier than flavored coffees or bubble teas. The company emphasizes ingredients made fresh daily, and drinks that should be consumed within one hour of purchase to maximize benefit from that freshness. As a result, Yomie's has a higher quality and wider selection of yogurt drinks compared to most other coffee and bubble tea chains, which typically offer 3 or 4 yogurt drink flavors. Drinks We've Tried: - Purple Rice Yogurt Drink (有米酸奶): Yomie's namesake drink (in Chinese, anyway) shows off the slightly sweet, slightly tart yogurt that underlies most of the menu. The yogurt is viscous (i.e., thick for a liquid). The purple rice in the drink is chewy but flavorless. Yomie's Downtown Flushing location does a better version of the drink than the debut Elmhurst location. The former has more purple rice, albeit slightly harder and in smaller bits, but this makes for more rice and chewiness in every sip -- and there's no chance of gagging as with the Elmhurst version. - Red Bean Oats Yogurt (小时候红豆燕麦酸奶): this drink is even thicker than the Purple Rice Yogurt drink and could be a light meal replacement. The sweetness of the red beans and grit of the oats doesn't quite pair with the liquid tartness of the yogurt, but the drink seems representative of East Asian tastes. - Mango Yogurt (芒果用酸奶): We couldn't try the Melon Yogurt due to seasonal availability of the fruit, so we tried the Mango Yogurt instead. The mango was a little stringy and added to the tartness of the yogurt, but letting the drink sit for a while seemed to mellow the tartness. Since different types of mangos are in season during different parts of the year, I'm curious if this might affect the availability of this drink, or cause seasonal variations in taste. Overall: Very Good (4 of 5). Yomie's Rice X Yogurt's drinks and smoothies are interesting alternatives in a market saturated with coffee and bubble tea chains. Definitely visit for an introduction to this drink category, and follow along to see how Yomie's evolves its drink menu for the local market. Other: - Yomie's Elmhurst and Downtown Flushing locations are operated by unrelated entities. While they share a core menu, the two locations seem to execute slightly differently and seem free to develop their own drinks. - Read more about the benefits of purple rice yogurt drinks here: https://internationalfrozenyogurt.com/news/now-trending-purple-rice-yogurt-drinks/

What a delightful experience Yomie's Rice X Yogurt was and I hope to see them really kick of the yogurt drink craze in the states! Purple rice yogurt shakes are trendy drinks in Asia and Australia, known as a healthier and more filling alternative to bubble tea. Not only is the yogurt freshly made, but the various colorful drinks are made without artificial flavors or colorings Purple rice (also known as black rice) is a slightly nutty and almost sweet rice with a good chewy texture. It's nutritious and a good source of energy (far lower GI than brown rice!), and has the benefits of being filled with antioxidants (the purple hue comes from anthocyanin), iron, fiber, zinc, and protein! You've probably been offered or had the option for this type of rice if you've been to a sit down Korean restaurant. I can see these shakes also being great on the go when there's little time to sit and eat, such as on a drive or for lunch while working remotely in front of a laptop. I especially like the fruit-based drinks - make sure you don't come in too late if you're picky, because when they run out of something, they're out for the day! I tried the passion fruit, dragon fruit, and mango and they were all delicious. If there's anything I'd like changed, I'd say I wish the passion fruit was blended a bit better as that drink was particularly chunky - but I suppose plenty of people love having texture of fresh fruits in their yogurt drink. The staff was super friendly, even though the place was packed and busy. It's amazing how quickly they work and it's refreshing to see a team that cares! 100% recommend a try and make sure you bring a friend or two!

4.5 stars Came here today for their soft opening and was pleasantly surprised! Big bubble tea fan over here, but I've never tried a yogurt/ rice drink before. I was definitely a little hesitant because I'm not a huuuge fan of yogurt. My bf and I decided to get the mango yogurt drink and the melon melon- the worker told us that the melon wasn't in season right now and suggested we try the red dragon fruit! Vicky (I think she's the owner/ manager) helped us and was super nice!!! She offered to have us try the purple rice yogurt, which was so nice! Also, hellooo they make the yogurt in house and use fresh fruits. I love that places are steering away from using powders and syrups, and going fresh. It makes the drinks way more worth it. I looooved the mango yogurt drink - super smooth and creamy, but not toooo yogurty with the mango flavor which I liked. My bf had the red dragon fruit, which wasn't bad. The fruit was good but the drink def had a stronger yogurt flavor since dragon fruit isn't as creamy. The purple rice yogurt was interesting. I actually really liked the rice and chewing on something. It was a little tooo yogurty for me though. I wouldn't mind having some rice in my mango yogurt drink! Would be cool to have that option. Overall, if you're a fan of smoothies, I think you'd like this place! It's a healthier alternative to the usual bubble teas too. I'll be back soon to try the other flavors or maybe I'll just stick to the mango yogurt haha

This yogurt smoothie spot took me by surprise. I normally don't opt for a yogurt drink because of the yogurt flavor and heavy density, but after giving this place a try, it made me change my opinion on yogurt smoothies. I was drawn here because of the two day promotion they ran. The first few customers can get a free lychee yogurt drink. I thought this would be the time to give it a try. While I was on the line waiting, the big screen menu featuring the Avocado Yogurt Smoothie had me wondering what that tasted like so I ended up ordering the Mango Yogurt Smoothie, Avocado Yogurt Smoothie, Purple Rice and Lychee Yogurt smoothie for my coworkers and I. For toppings you can add purple rice, oats and/or jelly. After splitting the drinks, I ended up with the Mango Yogurt and Lychee Yogurt to try. The Mango Yogurt comes with chunks of mangoes which I really enjoyed. It blends really well with the yogurt flavor. I actually preferred the Lychee yogurt smoothie more because it was sweeter and it may be because I added jelly to it. Now I can't wait to go try the other flavors. In terms of service, there were two people working. The lady at the cash register was friendly. She was patient to explain the menu items when I asked her questions. The other staff was making the majority of the drinks. The line wasn't long but the wait can be a little long because it takes time to make each drink. Totally worth it though!

The yogurt drinks here are definitely a healthier alternative to milk teas! The taste of their yogurt drinks is not like yogurts we usually buy in the grocery store. It's just a bit tart while also creamy and sweet. Lychee drinks seem to be the new addition to their menu since they're in season right now! I think I also saw Mango Pomelo being offered as a flavor too. I decided to try their lychee purple rice yogurt and mango yogurt drinks. Purple rice is definitely interesting as a topping in a drink. It's akin to the oats, something you wouldn't really except in a drink but nonetheless yummy (and makes the drink feel healthier in a way). I think they use fresh lychees to make this drink since the pieces of lychee in my drink had that fresh lychee texture. The mango yogurt drink was just the right amount of sweetness. Make sure to mix it well before drinking as the mango puree sits at the bottom of the cup. It keeps well in the fridge so it'll be okay to enjoy the next day too! Drinking one whole cup was enough to fill me up. I know I'll definitely be back to try out their other flavors!

Was invited to the soft opening and I ended up trying the mango yogurt and the red heart dragon fruit yogurt. I preferred the mango yogurt one because it was sweeter and the fresh mangoes were absolutely delicious in combination. I love the use of rice in the drink (its nothing overpowering, maybe a creamier version of a rice pudding that you can drink)! It seems like it would be good to drink this as a breakfast because it is relatively healthy and very filling. I was overwhelmed that there were so many things on the menu that now I wish I tried their purple rice and their oats yogurt, which I hear are also some of their more popular items. The drinks are on the pricier side but with the amount of fruits and fresh yogurt that they use in the drink, it justifies their price. I'm excited to try their other flavors in the future!

Waited for my order. They called the order when it's ready. I love the fresh fruit and it's convenient if you are in Main Street. Though, maybe because the mango wasn't ripe, it didn't have the usual strong flavor in the mango pomelo sago. I ordered Belgian Caramel Crumble Milk Tea for my friend. Didn't get a picture. My friend likes it and had no complaints. If you are in the neighborhood, go check it out and decide for yourself.

A little bench inside by the glass as waiting area. Minimal wait time like 15 mins on a busy Saturday night. Tea By Do accepts both cash and card. Tastes decent even without the extra sugar although not exceptionally amazing. 2. Tsk tsk tsk about the "less ice" portion. With the almighty chunk of ice, you're actually getting a medium sized drink instead of the large (thanks to the unnecessary ice amount). 3. Has mix of decent textures from the tart mango pieces + softness from the sago pearls + smoothness from the creamy coconut milk + juiciness from pomelo pulp. Once and done kind of try for me from Tea By Do.
