    Harm ha ung choi
    Lyn L.

I had a chance to eat here today. Saw several great reviews from yelp friends. I just wanted noodles so I ordered harm ha ung choi minute chicken crispy noodles. Used to eat that with my dad. Let's see how it is here She nodded her head but brought me minute chicken crispy noodles . Oh well. It's half right. Oh, ok... then she brought me harm ha ung choi...now I have both. They are both delicious! I just mix it on my plate. It was relatively quiet when I arrived but once a few tables filled up, wow was it noisy! Server was really nice. She realized after a while that I wanted a combination. Portions are generous. She brought me take out containers and helped be pack my leftovers. I'd eat here again.

Shrimp chow fun with egg and beef with ong choy. Both were excellent.

Food was delicious and the portions very generous. Definitely recommend giving it a try

Salt and pepper pork chops were ok. You can find better

Highly rated on Yelp so I had to try it. I think they deserve 3.5 stars. The ambience is not good. The location was locked when I went to pick up my take out order. I understand it's a mom and pops but I think they're also a one person operation. I order salt and Pepper pork chops and beef chow funn. The pork chops were ok. I've had better. The beef chow funn was better although you really can't mess that up. I was not impressed my first time. I will need to return but the location and looks of the place doesn't look inviting. It will be hard for me to come back.

I'm hesitant to write this cause I don't want the secret to be out about this little mom and pop place. We had the simple beef chow fun and the popular yellow cold ginger chicken. Both dishes came out made to order and the chow fun was steaming hot. Very stand not overly salty. The cold chicken was one of the best I ever had. I don't know how they make it, but the pieces were juicy and cooked just right with a taste that I can't figure out. Paired with the ginger oil, it was perfect. I asked the owner how her husband makes it, but she couldn't really tell me other than it was a two step process. I will definitely be back.

I'm not gonna lie when we walked in like 11ish in the morning there were no customers, ac was not turned on and it had that stuffy smell that made me want to turn around and leave. But I'm glad I stayed and had some amazing food! The five-star is solely based the 2 rice dishes I've tried: chicken with bitter melon and shrimp with egg sauce. And the reason I gave 5 stars? Very simple: Wok hei (the flavor/aroma when you stir fry using a wok). The bitter melon and chicken has so much wok hei that I could smell its aroma before they even put the dish on the table. The chef definitely must have much skills so the chicken and bitter melon were cooked just perfectly, not overcooked. I was worried that the black bean sauce would be very salty but it wasn't. And it also had the right consistency and amount. The egg sauce was also very tasty. Shrimps were very fresh and they gave me 9 big shrimps (yes I counted haha). Very generous given that they only charge $10 for this dish. My only complain was that rice was a bit hard they should have cooked it a little longer. So oh yes I'll definitely go back especially wanna try the taro duck and sour cabbage pork recommended by fellow yelpers!

I received the stuffed duck and egg tarts from a friend. I've heard about Yongs famous duck dish and was able to try it! The stuffed duck for takeout was served in a half pan tray. The serving size is huge and there is tons of mochi rice stuffed inside the duck. I imagined the duck to be a whole duck stuffed with rice, but instead, the duck is battered with taro and reconstructed around a huge chunk of mochi rice. What an interesting dish! I wish I had eaten it fresh, but was unable to. We reheated in the toaster oven and ate for dinner. The pieces of duck were very tender and flavorful. The dark coating was a little oily, but probably would have been great fresh. It is super filling and enough for at least 3-4 people! If you want to order the duck, you need to order it at least 48 hours in advance. I would say it's worth it for a special occasion! I wish we had a side of veggies to cancel out some of the oil, but other than that it was really tasty! I'll be back to try some of his other dishes. On a side note, he is doing December specials where you can get some dishes for $7.50! Regular price $10.99. I saw the special on Spoon Hawaii and if you mention it when you order, you can get this special price. The dishes change weekly for the next three months in December.

Honey BBQ Spareribs $24 (COVID19 Takeout)

The new normal, eating out during COVID19. Saw someone post food from Yongs Kitchen on Instagram and I couldn't resist and had to order some for dinner. We called in our order a head of time and drove down to pick up. We ordered the Honey BBQ Spareribs ($24) and Stir-Fried Choy Sum with Garlic ($10.50). Both dishes were great. The ribs were delicious and the chou sum was cooked perfectly. A huge MAHALO to Yongs Kitchen for operating during this pandemic.

I got take out from here. Food is legit. Underrated place! I ordered their Black bean beef with cake noodles and Chinese broccoli (Gai Lan) to go. Both were delish! I would love to try their Honey BBQ ribs and Taro duck but you need to give them a 24 hr notice and order ahead of time for these items. From the outside this spot is not super noticeable but don't sleep on this spot because it's a hidden gem!

Honey Ribs, must be ordered 24 hours in advance.

#46 for 2019 It's been awhile since I've had Chinese food. I tend to swing to Thai and Vietnamese for my Asian cravings. It was our special friend's birthday and I was part of the surprise. Haven't seen each other in awhile so it was all good. Nadine scheduled the festivity at 6:30pm to take advantage of the free street parking that starts at 6pm. I parked in the municipal parking off of Beretania street a block away because we wanted to walk around before the gathering. We got there a little before 5pm and ended up paying $3.00. Not bad I say. Everything was ordered and setup. The staff were just waiting for the que to start bringing everything out. And that happened once the birthday person showed up. I wasn't familiar with this place and didn't know what to expect. I did read a view reviews sparingly to get an idea. It sounded good and I was hungry. The Chinese broccoli was cooked perfectly. Still a little crunch to them which I think helps to hold the juices in and not taste too bitter. I like that though, others not so much. Another winner spicy clams. Man I could have eaten that alone. I wish it had a little more flavor but they were still good for my tongue. Cake noodles had lots of crunch slathered with the gravy sauce. Always a favorite to eat. There were other dishes. All were good. I had no complaints. However, the winner this evening was taro duck and honey ribs. I never knew about this technique to combine the taro and duck together for an awesome mouth delicious combination. It was a knock out 1 2 punch with the honey ribs. Sweet and tender. I wanted to eat more but there was no more room to put anything away. Service was good. Staff seemed to have enjoyed serving us watching and listening to our words of delight. I need to go there again. Soon.

Honey Spare Ribs (have to be ordered a day in advance)

First things first, make a reservation! This restaurant is small and always packed so if you want to avoid waiting or getting turned away, please call ahead. While you're making a reservation, check out their specials because those require a day's notice to be prepared. Yong's is located right across from Lam's Kitchen and Pho Que Huong so your best parking option is street (depending on the time you go) I decided to pre-order their Honey Spare Ribs and it's HUGE; it can definitely feed 3-4 people. It's pretty flavorful with plenty meat on the bones. Everything on their menu sounded good but we decided to order: Salted Fish & Chicken Fried Rice: My fave kind of fried rice; did not disappoint! House Special Chicken (half order): Super juicy and delicious even without their ginger & onion sauce! Drunken Clams: It reminded me of a black bean sauce; my parents mopped it up in seconds Egg Drop Soup: This was my least favorite because I thought it lacked flavor compared to the other dishes There was another dish I wanted to order but unfortunately they were already out... I guess that can happen when they're pretty popular but I guess that means we got to come back again. Yong's is now on our radar for places to go to when we're craving Chinese food! Just be careful of your surroundings especially at night because there can be questionable people walking around

Inside, the space feels busy with tables and people moving around. There are benches inside for those waiting for a table. We had to wait a bit before we were seated but they seemed efficient in ushering people in and out of the restaurant. The middle had smaller tables, which seemed most suitable for two people. The sides had larger tables for larger parties. The tables felt pretty close together but we enjoyed the stool/bench chairs we sat on. They were different than what we are used to in restaurants. Our order was taken quickly. We decided to get the beef chow fun, yang chow fried rice, and cheong fun. The cheong fun was good, especially after adding hoisin sauce. The texture was soft and the portion was quite decent. The chow fun was also yummy. It was tasty without being overbearing. The fried rice was our favorite. It was flavorful and included a variety of ingredients. The prices were not bad either, considering the portion sizes. We hope to be back one day to try more of what they have!

You also get hot tea ( loose leaf green tea) as soon as you sit down. Everything was delicious and my favorite would be the char siu snow buns as it was a sweet coating on the buns which was my first time to try that. Never seen stuffed fried tofu with shrimp and that was interesting to see. The tofu was on the bottom and the shrimp on the top. The char siu stuffed in a look fun noodle was really tasty as well. The star of the show was the mango mochi! It was real mango with coconut bits in the outside. Overall I would definitely come back to try something different.

We came in for dim sum with our family. 2 adults 2 kids. We asked if they were still servicing dim…read moresum and were told last call for dim sum was in an hour and a half. This was perfect timing for us. However once seated, we had to ask for water 4 times, sauces twice, and waited a 10-15 minutes for someone to stop by and take our order. When someone did come to get our order they told us it was the only time we could order dim sum. This struck us as odd. We had mentioned that the hose explained it would be 1-1/2 hours until last call. They mumbled something at us out of what we felt was annoyance then stuck to this order being our last call for dim sum. We proceeded to order our entire meal quickly since we often eat at Chinese restaurants and generally know what we felt like eating for us and our kids. Around 3:30 (10 min or so after we ordered ) the server came back and told us they are out of 1/3 of what we ordered which included picking duck and look fun. Again very odd on a Sunday afternoon. So we kept what they did have available and continued to wait. At this point still waiting for our waters. As the sitting went on we observed a table who sat after us get their waters food and everything they asked for quickly. We waited almost 20 minutes for water and rice that we had to ask for multiple times. The rice still wasn't brought out until almost 30 minutes in, which was after 3 items from our order was brought out at very slow rates compared to other tables who we overheard ordering. We also needed to cancel our crispy noodles that we ordered for the kids as it was going on 45min and the last thing left on our order although it was the first item on our receipt and the first item requested. Overall the flavor of the food was good and the only reason I gave stars, however my family and I felt borderline discriminated against and service was very bad. I do not recommend this place for anything other than takeout.
