Wow! I came in not expecting much. Just looks like a hole in the wall. I was completely blown away by the friendly staff. I sat down at a table with my drink waiting for the food to come up. Yum, yum, yum, yum, yum. This place hit the spot! I am someone who generally likes fish and chips, but at Yorkshire, I LOVED the fish and chips. Usually I feel like the batter overwhelms most fish and chip plates, but this one was amazing! The batter just enhanced it, but the fish flavor still stood out, in a really good way. And the fries/chips were fantastic as well! We also got some of the clam chowder - super good! My only reason for doing four instead of five stars is just the price. If you can get past Yorkshire's grim decor and atmosphere, the unfriendly and embarrassingly unprofessional kids working the fryers, and the dirty unswept floors, you're in for some damn good fish and chips! (I doubt it was coincidence that while the place was packed with people clamoring for take out, only four people were dining in.) Is it better than GB Fish and Chips? The cod is definitely as good (nice sized pieces of thick fresh fish encased in a light crispy ungreasy batter), and at $8.95 for a full f&c dinner (compared to GB's online menu price of $14.55), it's way more wallet-friendly. Their "chips" are definitely not as good - bagged skinny French fries are not chips, Yorkshire guys... The coleslaw, though not homemade, was decent enough, and a good deal at 75c a serving. Would I go back? For sure. For the price and quality, it's definitely worth the drive. Oh, and though the sign says they are open until 8.30, they locked the doors at 7.50. If you drive into the parking lot and/or walk up to the door while they are "closed," they WILL be mocking you, trust me. read more

Since I was in the area, I decided I'd finally come check this place out after reading the positive reviews for it on Yelp. The fish, while large pieces, seemed to be fried in oil that was old. The cole slaw was the best I've had in Denver, however...very creamy and obviously homemade. The "chips" were straight-cut french fries and nothing to write home about. Having read the Yelps on Yorkshire, and driving by it every day as I pass Pecos on I25, I finally decided to give it a try. It was... interesting. I got the combo platter for $10.85. It consisted of Shrimp, Scallops, and 1 piece of Fried Cod. It seemed a little pricey for that and a scoop of basic frozen french fries. But the good: The fish was fresh. The batter was crisp. The Meh: The fries. Boring, bagged, frozen fries. The "Could do Better": The batter, while being crisp and light, lacked flavor, and needed salt, among other things. (Dash of garlic powder? Some Old Bay? Which I generally despise but, man, SOMETHING!) Also, it seems to me that a place that specializes in Fish and Chips could take the time to make their own tartar sauce. This stuff was straight from the supersized jar o generic tartar sauce, without even a sprinkle of dill added to present the illusion of homemade. Call me picky. But I noticed it, and actually only used the tartar sauce on the few fries I nibbled on. The others' description of the decor is accurate. Run down and in need of basic repair, but the employees did make a pass of cleaning the tables. (Of course, this may have been because it was near closing.) Yesterday was our first trip to Yorkshire Fish and Chips and we were NOT disappointed. No frills here, just good eats, good prices and the head honcho, Kevin, is awesome! He took the time to chat with us, explain the menu and even got some great pics up here as a result. Way to go, Kevin! This place is authentic 1960s British fish and chips! Gotta love it. This is a great find. It's a counter service style restaurant so you won't be waited on, but you will get the best fish and chips in Denver! Definitely worth the drive even if you don't live in town. I've lived in this neighborhood for 3 years and I'm so sorry I haven't been eating here until now! The fish was delicious and fried to a perfect crisp. I was surprised at how clean and comfortable the interior was too. It's a small building but there are several tables and again- very clean (rare for this area). $14 might seem steep for two pieces of fish and some French fries, but I'm okay with it because the pieces of fish are huge and you can tell they are great quality. I'm very disappointed in the front cashier of this location. I will not name any names at this time, but I do remember it. I am very stunned to see that she just dumped all of our food in one, brown bag and without any straws for our drinks. I asked their cook, he assured me that the head cashier had properly packaged all of our food. Our food itself was $24.00 for two long fish sticks, a side of fries and tarter sauce. They have no decency to pack the necessities. No napkins, no straws, and no integrity. Our silverware was mixed with the thrown food in the little plastic containers. I'm highly disappointed. Pretty good. Huge fish sticks that tasted pretty good. After seeing most people say that their "chips" are subpar I went with the Cole slaw and was pleasantly surprised by it. Awesome tartar sauce as well. The mushrooms are awesome! Only downside was that it's expensive and greasy. read more

Another bad place to eat, way too greasy?? They need to change the oil it made the food taste bad and was burnt. Had to ask for another order of the fish and chips, gave me another over cooked piece and we threw it away. Let's talk for a minute about Yorkshire Fish and Chips. From what I was able to find out, the business has been around since 1971 give or take a year or two, which makes it roughly 40 years old. That alone is extremely impressive considering they serve mainly one thing: fish and chips. I'm not entirely sure it's been run by the same family all those years, but for it to have been around that long means it has been doing something right. Yorkshire is a dive, no joke about it; but it's perfect in its simplicity. You get exactly what you pay for and nothing more. The place itself looks a little worn out and you may even pass it by questioning yourself about stopping. It's located just off of I-76 and Pecos on the west side of the street, so there isn't much in the way of scenery at this place. No matter, that's not what you're here for. When you walk in you'll immediately notice the cases of racks of freshly fried fish and other morsels of golden fried deliciousness that are dripping with greasy goodness. These racks are just a pit stop on the way to your plate. If you can quit starring, directly left is the ordering counter, and it's nothing fancy. As your eyes drift upwards, you'll see a menu with a limited selection of items. They have both full and half orders of fish, clams, shrimp, and scallops and they're all served with a side of "chips." They also have a combination plate, which includes a little of everything, plus two pieces of fish and a side of "chips." This being my first Yorkshire experience, I opted for the combo plate so I could sample everything. After ordering and grabbing a soda, we pulled up a couple chairs to a fairly small table in the corner. The seating area is narrow with enough seating for about 15. Space is limited, so the tables are pretty close together. The friend I was with informed me that most people do take out, which considering the place makes sense to me. The floors and walls aren't exactly spotless but the tables are and that's all I care about. We didn't wait long before our order was called. Upon retrieving the order we were asked if we would like any tartar or cocktail sauce. Well hell yes, I do! The young kid at the counter kindly opened a cooler door behind him and put about 4-5 little paper cups of each on the trays. I imagine they don't keep these sauces out because they don't want people to waste them - they are homemade, after all. On the tables are bottles of ketchup and malt vinegar, which is a must. After sitting back down, I noticed that in addition to some seriously golden fried goodness we each got a cup full of coleslaw. Bonus! I didn't hesitate to dive right in, and it didn't even phase me how scorching hot everything was. Everything was delicious. The shrimp had a good flavor, but could have been a bit bigger. The pieces of fish were very large, flakey and moist. They also had just the right amount of breading -some places can go overboard in this area. The scallops were from a different planet. They were savory and sweet, and you could definitely taste the scallop and not just the breading. Next time I may just order the scallops because 4-5 of them was not enough for me. You don't get anything fancy at Yorkshire, but I don't mind. I came for the fish and chips and that's what I got. Nicely done. read more

But when I got my food I was pretty disappointed. I mean, I know it's fried food, but this was over the top. I got clams, but I couldn't really find any meat in them, just batter. I don't think it looks any more like a dive than every McDonalds in America. I actually really appreciated the simplicity of the place. No froo froo b.s. - the food speaks for itself. Give me a sturdy chair, table and let me enjoy my greasy fish. The fish and chips were both very fresh. I loved how the batter wasn't soggy at all, even after adding my malt vinegar to it. It did think the batter on the fish could have used a little more flavor 'n' spice, but overall, very tasty. Staff was friendly and fast. Definitely coming back. :) read more
