I have been a fun of Japanese style Gyudon at Yoshinoya restaurant for many many years.

Solid 3/5 stars place. Would visit again if I'm feeling it. I ordered the large combo that comes with 2 proteins containing the original gyudon beef and teriyaki chicken + a side of tempura shrimp. I had it to-go and I promptly brought it back to my place to eat immediately. It cost about 12 dollars. I'll note that their receipt printer wasn't work at the time of my purchase so they weren't able to provide me with one. The teriyaki chicken and beef were alright. The chicken came with a nice charr on it. It comes with a decent amount of protein for the plate. I prefer the taste of Panda Express better but Yoshinoya beats them when it comes to protein serving sizes. The steamed vegetables on the side are also nothing special but I don't have any complaints. A lot of meals these days lack a side of greens so I can appreciate that. Would not recommend the tempura shrimp though. The two pieces I ordered were inconsistent from each other, one being over fried. 3 Stars on yelp for being a well balanced meal that I may pick up occasionally if the price is right depending on app deals or coupons when I'm feeling lazy. And there's nothing wrong with that. read more

I actually like this location. It was clean upon walking up, as we went to lunch. The server took our order real quickly, we sat down and got our food within a couple of minutes. I ordered the beef large bowl and my wife got the combo chicken/beef bowl. Everything was tasty and we shall be back during lunch hours. It does get busy, so make sure to go early :) read more

I tried yoshinoya for the first time and got a regular bowl with salmon and brown rice. The vegetables were steamed and lacking any real flavor. The salmon was a bit overcooked. The sauce was yummy and the rice was just okay. The most flavor was coming from the green onions. Overall it was okay- maybe I got the wrong food. I'd give the teriyaki chicken and udon noodles a try next time if I must. read more

Came in and the lady Juliana had zero care to acknowledge me standing / waiting at the register and moved with zero urgency/care about how she carried herself. I also kindly asked if I may use the restroom. She said I have to pretty much spend a 10 dollar minimum by purchasing a chicken bowl. No other less expensive items would grant me access to the restroom even tho I had an emergency. Said no lesser priced items like cookies / drink would suffice in granting me access to use the restroom. Seems that the employees get to decide whether or not give extra sauce and charge the customer for it even though they barely put any on in the first place. Plus the portion of edemame seems to also vary by the person preparing the dish. I've gone there several times and each one has turned into a gamble. One of the cashiers said that they have always charged for extra sauce but I tried to tell her that I had gotten some the week before and she refused to accept my answer. This store's food is noticeably better especially on the standard Gyudon (beef bowl) than other nearby locations. They are a little heavy on the onions but easy enough to push aside. Service is also better at this store even during a busy lunch period. read more

Took our cat to Affordable Animal Hospital this past Friday and since it was around lunch time, decided to stop here for a quick bite. Came here right before the lunch rush which was nice. The store is very well kept and clean, employees are also wearing masks so kudos to them for that. The food was good and plentiful. Being from LA county, I grew up with Yoshinoya so I was surprised to see one in Orange County. I mean, they're around but not as many locations as their competitors. I ordered the classic combo with teriyaki chicken and beef and added some avocado too. Their flavors are super nostalgic for me and I left fully satisfied with my quick meal. Due to COVID-19, there are no refills on drinks with same cup, but they will gladly give you a new cup for your refill. Very glad I found this location! This is the second time I have been there. The cashiers love to make sure you get something expensive and not let you know...like the first time me and my son went. We ordered the salmon bowl...which was very good...he just failed to mention the salmon was priced higher than the beef or chicken bowl..then tonight I wanted to redeem my free bowl and my daughter had ordered ahead of me...I wanted to also use my 10 % off coupon...she should have let me order my free bowl and the rest of the order should have been 10% off. She made sure it wasn't and didn't even ask what size drinks we wanted..just went ahead and made them all large. I dont know about anyone else, but I appreciate when the cashier cares. Glad they got that extra few bucks from me...cos next time I will go to a place with better service. Food was good. I noticed the regular sized bowls are smaller and the extra teriyaki sauce was 65 cents. I spent over 50 dollars to feed 4 people...should have gone to a "nicer" restaurant for that amount. Absolutely terrible. I got two beef bowls and they were literally inedible. The beef tasted like the kitchen sink and I couldn't stomach one bite of it. I just picked it up 5 minutes ago and it's going straight in the trash. Total waste of money I wish I could get back. Was looking for something somewhat healthy to eat after 9 p.m. and stopped by here. The parking lot looks a little sketch at night but inside it's clean and spacious. Walked in to your location in Santa Ana ,ca 17th street and n broadway. Placed my order with the general manager "Thomas"( older Asian gentleman). Once my order was taken I took a seat near the entrance and overheard the General manager Thomas talking down on the what sounded like a new employee. Saying things like "can't you read" and not being professional. He is in no place to talk down to people in or out of the establishment. You can tell the new employee felt uncomfortable. As a general manger the most important part of their job is setting a positive example to your employees. Showing patience and understanding, I hope this gets somewhere to HQ where you can take action against general mangers like these. This Yoshinoya Beef Bowl is near the Central Justice Center of the Orange County Superior Court in Santa Ana. I sometimes eat here when appearances go past noon (due to staff considerations, the courtrooms must close, and therefore case participants have to come back at 1:30 p.m.) The area is kind of shady, but it's the closest Yoshinoya to the central OCSC courthouse so, when I'm in the mood for Yoshinoya, this is where I go. I like their classic beef and chicken combos. If you keep an eye out for mailbox coupons, you can get pretty good deals on large bowls and combos. At one time, I thought this was to Japanese food as Taco Bell was to Mexican food, but I was surprised to find out this chain originated in Japan.
