I honestly can't believe the prices at Mos 2 these days. I paid $50+ for 3 combo plates, and the portions were a complete joke. The "beef" in the teriyaki combo looked and tasted like dry, salty ground beef--definitely not what you'd expect when ordering teriyaki beef. Everything felt low-effort and over-seasoned. Beyond the food, the ambience was just as disappointing. The space is tiny and claustrophobic, with barely any seating inside. The few outdoor tables don't add much--just as cramped and not exactly comfortable. It feels like they expect you to grab your food and leave, which might be for the best considering the overall experience. Mos 2 used to be a decent quick stop, but it's definitely gone downhill. Between the inflated prices, poor food quality, and uncomfortable setup, service is ok, food comes out pretty fast since everything is basically pre cooked which explained the dry food. read more

I've been to the other two locations MULTIPLE times. Since I'm always around the Anaheim location I usually go there. But today, the grand Ave location was closer. Absolute horrible experience. I ordered a regular pork bowl and a drink. They got the wrong order. It's fine, it happens. But I told the cashier and he immediately started giving me attitude. He yanked the bowl from me and then told the cooks to remove the meat. The cooks then proceeded to remove the meat with their BARE hands; while KNOWING that he needed to wear gloves when handling food. The food here is excellent - if you want protein with that charbroiled smoke hit to it, this place has it with their proteins. The only downside is that the portions are pricey for the price at $13 for the plate. We barely got any rice and meat with our plate. We may be back to see maybe it was an off night. Been coming here since 1999 and our family loves Mos! Not much has changed to the place. We usually get the chicken combo plate and they always give lots of chicken. Service is pretty quick! My family and I have been coming to MO's for over 30yrs, had never had an issue with our food or customer service from cashiers and those serving food. However, I had a very unpleasant experience with a manager named "Alex" this morning. I spoke on the phone with him on 5/21 after I purchased two chicken combo plates and found brush bristles on both plates. Alex said I could go back and they would replace the food, mind you there was construction going on that portion of the street and coming from harbor and Edinger it would be a hassle so I told him I would go another day as I lived in Norwalk and was only visiting my mom for the day. He agreed and this morning I went in asking for him, he comes out and says he didn't speak with me and didn't recall the conversation after I showed him pictures he said he would replace the plate "or was their bristles on both plates?" I said yes, he didn't believe and asked if I was sure? I reassured him and told him I would lie to get an extra plate, again he asked if I was sure and proceeded to tell his employees in a very annoyed manner to replace 2 plates. I was furious and told them to keep their food and would never be returning here. His actions and demeanor were unacceptable, and training in customer service would be of great help to him. Homie took me here after a long day of thrifting. We each ordered #5 combo plate. I got the beef and fried shrimp. Food was fresh and came out in less than 3 min. Plate comes with salad, an egg roll and a wonton. Everything was delicious. Beef was cooked properly, not dry at all. Fried shrimp was super tasty. Portions are large, but not too much. Cost was $16 plus change. THEY ARE CASH ONLY, so bring cash. They have an ATM inside if necessary, but it charges you, so skip that. Indoor seating is scarce, but they have outdoor patio seating. This stuff was like a person never ate Japanese fast food, saw a picture and tried to replicate it. OK. So this is kind of a blast from the past. First job out of college 20 years ago, I worked down the street from Mos 2 in Anaheim and we had it at least 2X a week. Go to order back then was a medium teriyaki chicken bowl with rice and sauce. Super fresh and quite tasty. A year ago I was in Anaheim and decided to stop by for old times sake. It was just okay. Didnt know of nostalgia was getting the better of me but thought it was something I tried again and was like...it's past its prime. FF to a month ago and we were on our way to the Ducks Game at the Honda Center and taking surface roads because there were too many accidents. Stopped by this location and shared a large teriyaki chicken bowl with my husband. THIS was the bowl I remember from my youth. So good. Stopped by yesterday and decided to try the teriyaki pork bowl. Had never had this before. This was soo good too! Liked it so much I'm thinking about placing a catering order for my office next week. I've tried MOS 2 at the Anaheim location and remembered it was good, so I stopped by to pick up some food here but it wasn't that great today. They have plenty of parking in the back of the restaurant but they only accept cash. I called ahead before coming to ask if they had any lunch specials and the worker told me there was no specials. Coming here after a meeting at work, I thought I was treating myself to a nice meal. But, ended up paying $11.47 for a large teriyaki beef bowl where the meat was dry and had a lot of chewy parts. There was nothing special about this and the meat portions were small for the amount I paid and I also had to spit out a lot of the meat pieces because they had too much fat on them. They give you teriyaki sauce and tapatio sauce packets but I wonder what happened to their house hot sauce? I probably won't be back here. read more

Service is quick and employees are always friendly. I come here for lunch once in a while and haven't had a bad experience. One thing that would be a great addition to the menu I feel would elevate my experience is adding chiles toreados. This would be the cherry on top to my lunch. read more

I've been coming here since 1996. Some of the original employees are still here, for the money one of the best places I recommend based on substance and value. For the money you spend you get a full course meal with protein and carbs. The customer service is always great quick and fast. Even when I lived in Temecula I still came down to satisfy my cravings. Is it just me or does the name Mos No2 sound like a Star Wars droid or one of Jupiter's moons? Oh, I guess it is just me. So this teriyaki joint has taken up in one of those ancient Taco Bell locations- you know, the ones that are made of bricks and were built sometime around 1965. They do churn out some pretty decent teriyaki though, and if you don't mind the gruff grunting they consider customer service, you'll be happy you stopped. The chicken teriyaki bowl was actually very good. With a medium at $8.25 it felt like a lot of food for a fair price. Don't go crazy thinking there's anything healthy like brown rice or veggies with your teriyaki bowl. This is meat on white rice dammit, with a sprinkle of scallions to make you feel better about your life choices. The meat is deeply marinated, not just sauced over, and the flavors are savory and deep. You honestly may not even need the additional sauce it comes with, but I know you'll use it anyway. And they are delicious. I don't know what the sauce is, but it seems to be not as sweet as typical teriyaki sauce. When we arrived the crew was cleaning out a drain by the tables splashing drain water near by. To add to that the drinks are a dollar per refill. Best all around lunch and most certainly teriyaki rice bowl in the county. They have two locations and they are both delicious. I used to live close to the one in Anaheim and frequent it regularly but I moved to orange and am closer to the Santa Ana location now. The bowls are the best and the egg rolls are on point to.
