I came to this salon to get my hair re-dyed and to get a bang trim. My stylist was Cara and she was great! There was a bit of an issue in the middle of the appointment when the dye had set in an unexpected way leading to my roots being too bright and the rest of my hair being kind of dull but Cara handled the situation really well never losing her cool and immediately getting help from another stylist to fix the problem. Despite the extra time it took to fix it my hair color ended up looking perfect at the end. Cara then gave me an amazing bang trim, probably the best bang cut I've ever had, and an awesome blow out that kept my hair looking great for days. Despite the dye issues Cara handled things so well that I ended up feeling really good about my hair at the end and I left the salon happy. read more

i haven't used any of their services but they are now an Aveda salon. So .. they use only Aveda products which probably makes them more expensive but .. i recently had to switch my makeup (aghhh sniff sniff) and decided to bite the bullet and get natural products. A great cut, a comfortable atmosphere at a reasonable price. Pros: -while the salon looks pristine and intimidating, everyone is super nice and friendly and is not at all snobby; the clientele varies from young hip girls to senior citizens and men of all ages -there are a ton of stylists, so I'm sure there's someone for everyone's tastes and they seem to do a good job of matching a stylist to your needs -a nice array of Aveda products, including sample sizes and they in no way pressure you to buy anything... the stylist doesn't even "recommend" anything she uses unless you ask her (the products I have purchased were a little on the pricey side but worked really well... and I knew they would since I had already "used" them when they stylists applied them). I'm pretty certain they will let you test anything though. -the hair-washing station is very comfortable (the sinks at most places are awkwardly placed, but they're great here), as are the chairs -they serve you tea/coffee while you wait (which is very rarely more than a few minutes) -very easy to book appointments and they call you to remind you -wide variety of services offered (nails, facials, waxing, makeup), even though I've only gone for a haircut -they keep a good, detailed file on you so they can tell what worked before or what colour they used, etc which is helpful if you have to see someone new too -easy, free parking -very quiet on Mondays if you don't like a crowd -some extended hours (up to 8:30) and even open Sundays -you get a nice, basic scalp and neck massage while getting your hair cut -They emailed me a coupon for 20% off if I book for the coming Monday or Tuesday and even though I had already had an appointment booked for the Monday, they still honored the coupon! They even give you a discount if you like their FaceBook page or follow them on Instagram! -Tara is amazing! I don't have to tell her what kind of a cut I want, she just goes for it (with some basic guidelines, of course) and does a great job every time, especially making sure the cut is easy to maintain (and in no way judges that I am so delinquent in getting my hair cut!) and style at home (she gives you great tips). Her layers are not at all choppy and she does a great job styling it. She is very friendly, relaxed, but works efficiently. I cannot say enough good things about her. -Maggie is great too. I see her when Tara is not available and while she doesn't do quite a good job on my hair (personally), she still does a lovely job. She is also very friendly and easy going. Her haircuts are much quicker and I have a bit more trouble "recreating" them at home. She charges the same amount as Tara, but I find I don't get exactly quite the "value". Cons: -Unfortunately Tara works limited hours and books up quickly, so you have to make an appointment a couple weeks in advance (not really a con, just an warning), but there is always someone else available and they try their best to fit you in. -It is one long room and on busy Saturdays feels a little cramped, noisy. -I've only ever had one mediocre haircut, when both Tara and Maggie were gone, but its hard to know if that's just a fluke and even then it wasn't terrible, just not great -a little on the pricey side for what I was used to ($55 for a hair cut) but if you can afford it, its worth it for the convenient location, good service and great cut I came here because it was close to my home and looked nice, took a gamble and booked with the person they recommended (Tara) and WON! I came in for a hair color. The stylist said she could try but it would be hard based on my previous color, but she showed me a swatch and I agreed. Sadly, my hair ended up looking NOTHING like that. I wanted to go lighter, and ended up several shades darker than my natural color. I went somewhere the very next day to get it fixed, because there was a purple sheen and my roots were very much lighter than my ends. She was super nice and friendly, and professional, but overall I was disappointed in my hair after I left. I really wanted to like this place because my stylist was so nice, but I couldn't. My hair was purple in most lighting. :( At $80 it was cheaper than the place I went to get it fixed ($150) but it was still a lot of money wasted on a color I didn't want. read more

I got my hair colored here by a guy named phillip. I had never gotten my hair professionally colored and just wanted it back to its natural color while keeping it healthy. I called ahead to ask about pricing and to also request the lower end $60 stylist. Phillip did a good job though it took a really long time. They matched the color to my roots very well. However when I got to the register they charged me $80. They said this was for the extra color they used on my thick hair and for the blow dry. I was unhappy because phillip had not mentioned these extra charges and I had specifically called ahead and confirmed pricing. They were nice enough to take off the $20 charge this time. Next time I will make sure I confirm the price when I'm in the chair. But overall the service was good and I am still loving my hair color. read more

Amazing! I've been here a couple of times but this time I had ROBERT! He is the best! My hair looks so good and I got tons of compliments on it. He knew I hated my hair curly or when it gets frizzy, he blow dried it out then flat ironed it on top of that and it looked so shiny with whatever he put in my hair. Other than an amazing haircut he was nice enough to keep my in the conversations the hairstylists have with each other, so u don't feel awkward when they all talk and you're just sitting there. Alan is an amazing hair stylist and if you would like amazing services, ask for him. Also, they offer a free bang trim between cuts with your original stylist (not sure if that applies to all of them). Thats about the only nice things I have to say about this salon. Besides Alan, I have gotten my hair cut/bang trim by other younger, less experienced girls who have done a decent job. However, some of them were super rude and definitely need an attitude check. I think it is kind of a "thing" at this salon. They treat you as well as you look/dress. When ever I go in all dolled up, I get better service and the girls are very friendly. When I go to my appointment in rolled-out-of-bed clothes, I get the same snooty condescending attitude. It just amazes me how judgmental they can be. I found this place through Yelp and honestly, even though I'm in that shopping area a lot, I would have never found this place by myself. Anyway, reviews were right on. They gave me a same day appointment, asked me if I wanted something to drink, and were very friendly and courteous. My hairdresser was very friendly and gave me a great haircut; I'm pretty sure her name was Tiffany. I wasn't pressured to buy any of the Aveda products and the price was reasonable ($45). My wife and I went here with our bridal party to get updos. We had 10 appointments for hair and we had 2 more add on and they worked hard to fit everyone in. One negative is that each stylist is priced different and we were not aware that each one gets different pay. After we spoke to the staff they did make it right and the same price for everyone. Great salon! First found the place when I needed a quick haircut, and in chatting with the hairstylist, I told her that I'd been wanting to try ombre color on my hair for a while, but each place I'd gone to thus far wanted to bleach my hair, and do these processes that would take an hour. Codie, the stylist, explained to me how she'd work in color without all the damaging processing, and I decided to give it a shot. I was able to make an appointment for soon thereafter, and I'm so glad I did! She was a great stylist, and extremely friendly. She checked with me every step of the way if I was ok and comfortable, and answered my many questions about the process. Once Codie colored my hair she styled it as well, and showed me how so that I could recreate it. I get so many compliments on the color work! Since then I've been back for getting my bangs trimmed, and will go back again for color touch-up and a trim. It's not inexpensive, but then, they are doing some real time-consuming and good work. The portion of this salon that sells products employs a man who is fairly empty upstairs. He cannot answer questions and the other day I inquired about a rewards program to which he replied, "Yes, we have one," and then said nothing further. After I asked him specifically to tell me about the program three times, he offered me a brochure to 'Read up on it." I spent several hundred dollars a year in that store. Shouldn't someone have mentioned the fact that they have a rewards program? How likely do you think I will be to continue using Aveda products? Certainly, I will never shop in this store again. My hair has always been my worst feature. Coarse, frizzy and thick. SInce I moved here a year ago Lacy has transformed me. I went for a haircut after a friend recommended me the place. I checked the price online, and it says a men's haircut is $30-45, which is a bit ambiguous since there's no explanation as to what makes it $30 and what makes it $45. I was a bit hesitant to go because even a $30 haircut is overpriced, but figured I'd give it a try, which is where my mistake lies. I was excited to get a haircut 2 weeks before I fly home for Christmas to see my family but was extremely disappointed with the result; the haircut itself is nothing like what I wanted and asked for. I had been growing the top of my hair for around 7 months, and specifically told the hairdresser I did not want any length of the top since I was trying to grow it out and liked it long. She completely disregarded this. The hair on top of my head is so short now that it's going to take approximately 1 year to be back to the length it was prior to this haircut, this is because it is now shorter than it was 7 months ago when I started growing it out. All I wanted to do was clean it up a little and make it blend in a bit better in order to keep growing it out in a nicely manner, but unfortunately after paying $30 it set me back nearly a year in terms of hair length I want. It's a bit of a frustrating experience since I spent a lot of time growing out and caring for my hair and it was for nothing since it was all gone in a 40 minute session that went nothing like I expected. There's also no point in arguing or complaining since that won't help my hair grow back faster. All I have to do now is give my hair time to grow back, and never visit this place again. It just set me back and gave me a haircut I am not pleased with at all since it was nothing I asked for. read more

I'm kind of haircut-phobic, but I love getting my hair done here! Since I get my hair cut twice a year if that, it's a big deal to me who does it, and after some traumatic cuts in the past, I decided I was only going to go somewhere I knew would not have me in tears. I found Young Attitudes by asking a coworker where she got her hair done--she has hair that seems to be like mine: curly, but not dry. She gave me the name of the salon and recommended Amy, who I've now seen twice, both times for perfect cuts! The little head massage during the shampooing is great, and I like how careful Amy is about figuring out what I want before getting down to the cut. I was able to actually relax, rather than watching every snip like a hawk, because I just knew she would do a great job--and she did! I love my hair, and I might even consider coming back before another six months go by... Also, I hate the name--"Young Attitudes" sounds like what old people think young people want to hear--but I heard that it's a play on the last name of the owners: apparently, they're the Youngs. Thanks to Phuong, I cant stop coming back. I came in for another change and dyed my hair... back to black, back to reality. I love how detailed she is, rather than just cutting my hair all wet, she dries then flat irons it. This makes the hair not frizzy and gives her a better view of the areas that need to be worked on. She cut off about an inch-inch and a half but my length is still there. It feels so much more healthy, I absolutely love it. read more

This place is awesome! The only reason I don't give them 5 stars is because they kept me waiting for 20 minutes after my appointment time before Jacque cut my hair. Now to the hair cutting - it was really good. Let me start by saying that this review is long over due. MARILYN is incredible; when I first meet her a couple years back I had about four shades of brown in my hair. She completely fixed the hot mess I was walking around in. I'm probably one of the most indecisive clients she has; I always have different ideas and different ways I want my hair cut. And she's always so patient in listening to me. And she's honest in telling me what's attainable. Oh and probably my favorite thing; she dose not do that unnecessary small talk that lots of hairstylist do I don't feel guilty being on my phone with her. I've been going to the same hairstylist for 6 years but just moved to this area. I was TERRIFIED to get a bad cut because I have fine, limp hair and getting a good cut that gives me volume is RARE. I called and they found me an appointment right away with Maggie. She was friendly, listened to what I wanted and cut my hair PERFECTLY. Just perfect. I don't need to do anything to it. She made sure I was perfectly happy before I left and the only change I asked for was a slant to my bangs. 1 minute later, it was just exactly how I wanted it. Let me start by saying I'm so picky!!! That being said I recently went in to see Codie. I wanted to go from black black to Carmel brown with highlights. Eek. This isn't easy to do an I was scared for it to turn out orange. But Codie took it exactly where I wanted the color to go! It's amazing!!! No orange. I just actually chopped nearly a foot off my hair yesterday and would not have trusted anyone else to do that for me other than Patrick! They know that they are selling treatments that they cost +350-400 like their Brazilian Blowout (keratin treatment) that do NOTHING. They tell you that their products are so nature friendly but the results *big drums* ... ready? they really RUIN your hair. It feels overtreated. I have been looking for a salon since i moved to SD 2 years ago. I have been salon hopping but I think I found a permanent solution! Carly, a senior stylist was friendly and gave a full hair evaluation with great suggestions. She gave me wonderful blended layers and light swept bangs for my curly/wavy hair. She's on the pricier side but absolutely worth it. I asked how much bang touch ups were and she said they were complimentary! I am definitely going to her again. She does amazing job! read more
