This is a bit of a late post, but even though the Lenten season has wrapped up, I stumbled upon this spot by chance while passing by. I didn't expect much, but since it was Friday and I typically stick to seafood and veggies, I was pleasantly surprised to find they offered a Lenten menu. The plate was just $8, which felt like a great deal--thank goodness it wasn't a $20 letdown! They had three Lenten options: fried fish, fried shrimp, or grilled shrimp, all served with a salad and two scoops of rice. It took a little while for the food to come out, but I was patient, and it truly was worth the wait! The fish was piping hot, the rice was perfectly cooked, and the salad was surprisingly delicious. It was our first time ever visiting in Ono Hawaiian BBQ. We had a buy one get one free coupon so we thought we'd give it a shot. The cashier was the best part of our experience. She was so gracious and very sweet. We ordered a chicken plate in a Hawaiian meat combo. I would say it was pretty basic, sort of locked any flavor. I've been here before and I thought it was ok, but hadn't come back until recently. Ono and the library were giving out free kids meal for checking out books. My daughter checked out books and earned a free kids meal. While I brought her to get her free kids meal I got myself a plate and it was so delicious! The chicken is nicely browned, the ribs were so tender soft, so was the meat. The veggies were delish. I will be coming back over and over since I love a high protein veggie dish.
