I miss the old crew. I have lived in Hawthorne for years. Happy that we had a fish market in the neighborhood. However, the changes in management, staff, and ultimately service has caused me great concern. On 10.18.18, I ordered a D1 + 5 piece medium shrimp (a la carte). It consist of 5 pieces of fish, 2 sides, and bread. I selected fries and onion rings for my sides. I asked for extra tartar sauce and hot sauce. The cashier advised that it was in the bag. That was odd because I watched her bag my food. Once getting home, not only did I not have extra sauce and no bread, I had 6 small and burnt onion rings. Today, 10.24.18, I brought the issue of last week's order to the cashier that took my order last week. She looked at me and said NOTHING. Poor service. Moving forward, I will not return to Young's Kitchen. Though further away, there are other establishments that have quality service and food. read more

I eat here at least one to three times a month. This is the best fish and chicken and shrimp place that I've been to in a long time. Their food is always fresh it's always well-seasoned and delicious. I've always had good customer service. I read the posts about bad customer service and I honestly didn't know what they were talking about. Yes they did Miss putting a sauce or something in one of my past orders but the food here is so damn good that's not something to really complain about. If they get your order wrong and you point it out to them, the crazy lady behind the counter may just yell at you, "I will call the police!". The fish appeared to be clean and fresh. The reason I am giving one star is because their customer service is none existent. I ordered item c3 which is four pieces of fish and three pieces of chicken. I chose 2 pieces of red snapper, 2 pieces of talapia and 2 thighs and a wing for the chicken. I proceeded to pay for my order and waited the 10 minutes for my order to be complete and it was ready on schedule. When I picked up my order I requested two extra containers of tartar sauce and I was informed by the crazy woman working behind the counter that it would be $.35 for each container. She had to repeat herself at least 5 times because I could not understand what she was saying because of her thick accent. This lady turned out to be so violent and crazy she threw the tartar sauce at me.This woman was rude from my first encounter and it only got worse. This employees explosive and assaultive anger was all directed at me. I was the only customer there. She even threatened to call the police and here's why. As I was picking up my order I was the only customer in the entire tiny restaurant. There was not another customer in sight anywhere. Yet, this crazy woman continued calling number 40 and refusing to give me my food because I did not have the ticket that said 40. She became even more enraged when I did not understand what she was saying. She had a very thick accent!! I didn't know what she was saying. He rage escalated when I ordered two additional tartar sauce is which demanded .35 cents. Ok, no problem here. Second, I could barely understand a word she spoke in her broken English and very thick accent. Once I checked my order, I noticed that I only received three pieces of fish, when in fact, I ordered and paid for four pieces of fish and 3 pieces of chicken. I went back inside to inform the manager that I only received 3?pieces of fish. The manager said in 5 minutes he will have the forth pice of fish ready. I didn't want to wait another 5 minutes for one pice of fish. I asked for my food to leave. No problem. The same crazy woman went berserk!! She started cursing me and threatened to call the police. She was screaming and yelling so much and it was right over my opened container of food. She was attempting to jump over the counter to attack me. Her coworker had to physically hold her to calm her down! The quality and taste of the food is subpar. The chicken is small, dry and burnt. The fish does not taste like red snapper which I eat often enough to know the texture is typically firm. Flavor was nonexistent since salt was the dominant spice. Most importantly, just be informed that the customer service in this establishment is nonexistent and if they get your order wrong and you go back to point it out to them, then don't be surprise if the crazy woman doesn't pick up the phone and tell you in her extremely broken English that "I am calling the police!" Customer service stinks. The young man who waited on me was not polite. He was rude to me because I said to him "You are new" and he resented that and asked if I had any more questions. Also, I called my order in and the order was very unsatisfactory. I ordered crispy fish: catfish steaks, Catfish fillet, hush puppies, and fillet of sole. The fish was not crispy and the catfish steaks were not crispy and very soggy. My advice if you want fried fish to your satisfaction try another place. Just spent $60 dollars worth of Fish and Shrimp, I make it home and find there is no tartar sauce in the bag. I return to tell the man who took my order that he did not put any tartar sauce with my order, he asked me what did I order and I told him. He never apologized and just told me to wait as he was breading fish. After waiting a couple of minutes for him to finish I asked for 5 tarter sauce he again asked me what I ordered, at that point in annoyed and I replied I spent $60 less than 20 min ago. He gave me 4 tartar sauces. His attitude was unwarranted and I will not be returning. This was a short Hispanic man with a short hair cut.
