World Famous Zen Lobster Roll / 招牌龙虾卷 - very fresh but not very flavorful
    David C.

Been meaning to try this food truck for a while. The truck parks daily starting at 4 pm on the corner of Valley and Muscatel, opposite the Rosemead library and in front of Prince Dumpling's parking lot. The owner, a very nice and friendly woman, was working the cart all by herself this day, so I don't know if anyone else works there at other times. I got the lobster roll a la carte, the lobster bisque, and the coconut shrimp, which comes with fries. For my Yelp check-in I was given some free shrimp chips with what looks like dried seaweed flakes on top. The shrimp roll is a little bit of an illusion. The meat is piled up on the top of the bun instead of shoved in. That being said, when I did shove it into the bun, it was still plenty of meat. The flavor was good if a little more bland than I've had before. It tasted like plain lobster, and as some people mentioned the meat is technically cold (or room temperature). It would be better if the lobster had more butter covering it and was warm. The lobster bisque taste good but was a rip-off. It was a teeny tiny cup, which would not even qualify as a cup in a restaurant. It was somewhere between a shot glass and a cup of soup. Not worth the price. The coconut shrimp were probably my favorite item and absolutely amazing. The shrimp are fresh, the flavor is great, the dipping sauces work well, and the fries are good. I liked this more than the namesake lobster roll. I will come back and do recommend trying it. Just know about the lobster being cold, so you're not put off. Also, I probably would try a few more places I have bookmarked before I rush back. Still, it was a decent meal, and I would definitely get the coconut shrimp again. Give it a try!

A Unique New Food Truck in the 626 Area Over the past couple of years, more and more food trucks have been popping up around the 626 area. Most of them are usually grilled food, Hispanic food, or sushi-style options. This food truck feels like something new and different for the area, especially since it's opened by a Chinese owner. I give them credit for bringing something rare and unique to a location where this type of food truck is hard to find. Location The truck is located on Valley Blvd, on the westbound curbside outside the GW Supermarket parking lot. Menu Their menu is not overwhelming, which I actually appreciate. Their signature item is the lobster roll, but they also offer tofu pudding, shrimp/lobster chips, fish and chips, lobster grilled cheese, coconut shrimp, clam chowder, and a few other items. They also offer free shrimp/lobster chips if you check in on Yelp. What I Ordered On the day I visited, I ordered: 2 lobster rolls Clam chowder Free shrimp/lobster chips from Yelp check-in Free tofu pudding I really appreciated their generosity and friendly service. The lady who helped me was super nice and answered my questions in detail. Lobster Roll -- 3.5 to 4/5 The lobster roll was not bad. I would probably rate it around 3.5 to 4 out of 5. I do think it could be better with a different type of bread. I understand they may want to be a little different from other places that use the usual lobster roll bread, but in my opinion, the bread they use is not necessarily better. It just feels different. Shrimp/Lobster Chips The shrimp/lobster chips were decent. Clam Chowder & Tofu Pudding -- 2/5 The clam chowder and tofu pudding were not really for me. I'm not sure how to describe them, and maybe it just comes down to personal preference, but I would personally rate both around 2 out of 5. Price Price-wise, it is definitely on the expensive side. A lobster roll is $26, which feels very pricey and may make people hesitant to come back often or order more items. It is even more expensive than some of the more popular lobster roll spots in Vegas. Overall Overall, I respect the concept and appreciate that they are bringing something new to the 626 area. The service was friendly, and the lobster roll was decent, but the pricing and a few of the side items could be improved.

Trying their lobster bisque, it looks creamy and delicious. Super friendly waitress and the street area is clean

Lobster roll and shrimp chips! Delicious!

I LOVED this place!! Incredible lobster rolls near home!? The lobster was generous. It was perfectly cooked and tender. The bun was crunchy and buttery. They gave shrimp chips that were freshly fried and had that delicate crunch. They were seasoned with furikake and so yummy. I tried the tofu pudding and oh my gosh - I thought it was one of the best things. The flavor is subtle and light but the texture was so satisfying. The lady who took my order was very nice and bright with a friendly smile and enthusiasm. It was really pleasant. Will be back, without a doubt. $35 you get a lobster roll, shrimp chips, dessert and a drink. Amazing.

tried the lobster roll twice already. so fresh, clean, and light and for the amount of lobster we get, i would say its worth it. tried calamari , would pass on it. the lady/owner? was super sweet and friendly. she forgot one of our items and gave us tofu pudding to make up for it. overall, would definitely come back again for just the lobster roll itself!

Im so glad they have ICELANDIC HOT DOGS!! I've been craving one ever since I visited a couple years ago. The taste of these hot dogs is so unique and "clean" and exactly like the ones I've had in Iceland !! Perhaps even better bc of the toppings,, I am so glad. I think the value for this is great! I will visit again. Highly recommended :)

This is my first time to try its lobster sandwich and is delicious. They put a generous amount of lobster meat on the bread. It also added truffle oil to make it taste so good. The lady that serve me provide excellent service.

It's nice to have lobster rolls in the area. Located on Valley Blvd. You can't miss this truck when driving by. But it sucks you have to take it home or eat it in your car since there's really nowhere to eat it. The lady in the truck is really nice. The lobster roll was good, buttery and soft. Can't go wrong w a good lobster roll but for the price, I think I'd rather go to a sit down restaurant.

Delicious lobster rolls! The lobster was fresh, perfectly cooked judging from the texture. Would definitely get it again. The douhua tofu pudding desert was also refreshingly good as a dessert. The fish from the fish and chips' batter was a little undercooked on the inside as it was moist/mushy where it touched the fish. But that's alright because the lobster roll and douhua make up for it tenfold! The only woman working had such great service and energy. I had never had the tofu pudding before, so she gave it to me for free on the house which was so nice of her! Check them out!

I had bought the fries thinking it'd be a small plate and like the picture on the truck but I was so pleasantly surprised at the portion size. It's absolutely huge and well seasoned. The food truck seemed to be managed by just one person but I think the food is definitely worth the wait and she was really nice and gave out chocolate freebies along with my order!

I pulled into the Good Fortune Supermarket (formerly Hong Kong Supermarket) parking lot to check it out. Everything looked new and clean, but business seemed slow because no one was around. Two Asian men sitting around liao tianr-ing (chatting) sprang up as I approached. My Chinese not being the best combined with their somewhat heavy mainland accents meant I didn't know how or what to order. They said they had one last serving of what sounded like "lamb" to me left. I took a glance and saw grilled/fried stuff on the menu, so I said sure why not. I asked how long they've been open, what their hours are, and if they're usually at this location. They said this is the first week they've been open, their hours are around 5 PM to 9 PM, and yes they are usually in front of the supermarket. I asked if I could take pictures and if they had a Yelp page, and they said sure and not yet. Around this time, while I was chatting with one guy and the other guy was preparing my order, a few other groups of people saw the commotion and started inching closer, curious. You know me, always blazing trails. Anyway, it wasn't until I paid and got change that I realized what I ordered. Apparently I ordered the Brothers Features Liangpi. I've never heard of a liangpi, so I was excited to bring it home to try it out. It turns out liangpi is like a flat rice noodle (or mungbean sheet?) cut up with cold cucumbers, tofu, cilantro, and a bit of Sichuan pepper (mala). They gave me a sesame sauce on the side. It was pretty good. In summary: Food was good though I ordered only one thing. I'll be back sometime in the next few days to try out more of their menu. Service was good. I was the only one around for a bit, but they were definitely friendly. Food truck with an "A" rating from the health department. It's a positive, but part of me wants to count it as a negative. Asian street food, to me, just isn't the same without massive cockroaches skittering around piles of rotting vegetables all around me while mosquitoes eat me alive. Pricing seems fair. Definitely not cheap as my liangpi wasn't huge or anything, but it wasn't too expensive either. I hope Asian-street-food food trucks become more popular.
