First time experiencing the menu outside of Dim Sum. Here are my notes: Special Fried Rice in Claypot - Refreshing fried rice due to the addition of the cilantro. You can taste the umami from the roe and other ingredients that I am not entirely sure are but taste familiar. I enjoyed and loved it. Mapo Tofu - Firm Tofu and good sauce. Although I do enjoy more of a Sichuan-style spicy mapo tofu (with the very numbing taste), I still found this mapo tofu delicious as you can taste the flavor of the pork and sauce coating the tofu. 2 Entree BBQ Platter: Roast Duck and Empress chicken - I'm biased towards roast duck. I love roast duck so any roast duck is good to me. Not a lot of comment on the duck. However, the Empress Chicken is nicely seasoned with the whatever broth they cooked it in. One of the few Empress Chickens where I can enjoy it without the scallion-ginger oil, but the scallion-ginger oil still elevates this Chicken to a higher level. Congee with Pork and Preserved Egg - Comforting and triggers a lot of nostalgic feelings for me. I didn't have to add too much additional soy sauce or chili sauce because the congee has a great base flavor. Preserved egg and pork weren't too chunky, rice was not too "mushy", and the overall congee was in a good thickness to create a nice mouth feel for each bite. Drinks aren't rated, as they don't sell house cocktails (though they sell a small selection of beers and wines). All-in-all a solid menu. The dilemma is that we generally felt unwelcome. We came by on a Sunday evening at 6:30 pm (and paid and left by 8:20 pm which is 10 minutes before closing). We were a party of 8 with diverse backgrounds, and with exception to one server (a woman wearing red who was maybe a manager), the staff just weren't friendly toward us. I will say that one woman in red was so kind. She made sure to say "bye" as we left. I will add one of my friends mistakenly tried to take a pair of chopsticks (as they are set on the table in a paper slip). She didn't realize they were store owned/reusable vs throwaway. She quickly apologized, but that became the final straw of awkwardness with the staff. i've always passed by yue huang but never walked in, so we decided to try it! on a monday night there were plenty of tables. we ordered their 1/2 peking duck, the crispy yue hung noodles, and their braised pork in brown sauce. the peking duck came with all the appropriate accoutrements, the fluffy buns, green onion, and hoisin sauce. the duck was wonderfully salty and crispy, with juicy tender meat. the crispy noodles are one of my favorite dishes, and this was a great example. the noodles were doused in sauce but remained crispy throughout the meal, and was a big portion for the price! their braised pork was fall-apart tender and so comforting. all the portion sizes were really adequate, and it was a lovely experience dining here. read more

We were visiting friends up north during the long weekend and this place was a recommendations from them. It's been a while since I had dim sum so the excitement was there. Part of a strip mall with other retailers and restaurants. Well, it was new to see so many signs posted about watch your cars as there's theft. A complete surprise to me. Guess in the area it a common thing. Anyway, the restaurant itself was decent in size. Plenty of parking available. Sunday and it was mellow in a sense. Still pretty busy but we didn't have to wait for a table. It's not your traditional Chinese dim sum restaurant with the carts walking down the aisle and you picking what you want. Here, they give you the menu and you mark down how many items you want. Both dim sum and traditional dishes are on there. Price wise, it's fairly decent but some dishes were a bit pricey compared to other places. Still worth checking out. Mark what you want on the menu which they then take and dishes are brought out. Of course we had to have the classic. Shu Mai and so on. Bbq pork slices, Chinese broccoli in oyster sauce, sticky rice in banana leaves, to name a few. The dim sum did come out pretty fast. Classic Chinese dishes like the chow fun did come out a little later as it had to be made. Overall, the food was quite tasty. I do see why my friends did recommend this place. It was a nice crowd of people that was here for brunch. Loads of family enjoying their meal. For our group, the bill came just under 300. They did include gratuities to it which they did inform us. We got a decent amount of dim sum as well as the other dishes. Food was good and service was great. All the staffs were very friendly and sweet. Drinks were refilled pretty fast after asking. Since my first visit, friends and I have come here to celebrate special occasions with a group meal, banquet style. Yue Huang really shines for this sort of celi. The food is very good, the atmosphere is classy, and the service is really on top of everything. The reason we come here for special occasions is, well, all of the above doesn't come cheaply. This is not your favorite hole-in-wall kind of place where food is a bargain. When you consider what you are getting here, it's definitely "worth it". The interior and ambiance are very nice. Clean, not cluttered, and the AC was pumping lol. The service staff were all very kind and took extra time assisting us with what to order (as it was our first time). The food was great! The favorites for us were the eggplant veggies and the general tso chicken :) I was most surprised by the Peking duck. I have never had that before and it was good, we chose to do a half order size which is perfect! It is very rich, juicy, and the skin was very crunchy!! It's been years since I last visited Yue Hang, but I had the opportunity to have dim sum here for a family member's birthday. On a Sunday at noon, the wait wasn't too terrible (approx 10 min) and we took the time to look over the menu. We got a good assortment of items - shu mai, har gow, roasted pork, XO stir fried rice rolls, wrapped sticky rice, seaweed salad, fried shrimp balls, rice noodle rolls with crispy shrimp, fried bean curd rolls with seafood, and steamed charcoal salted egg yolk buns. Note: tea is $2 per person and served in a tea pot. You mark all of your items on a pamphlet with a sharpie and then a waiter will confirm your items with a printed receipt. Items came out as they were ready from the kitchen. The standout dishes were the rice noodle rolls with crispy shrimp, wrapped sticky rice, and fried shrimp balls. The most disappointing items were definitely XO stir fried rice rolls and the steamed charcoal salted egg yolk buns. The XO rice rolls were cold and didn't taste like anything, which was surprising given how this dish is known for that wok flavor with a strong sauce. The steamed salted egg yolk buns were served hot, but the bread was a muddy gray color (as opposed to the photo in the pamphlet) and the filling wasn't especially flavorful either. Service was good, with staff consistently picking up empty baskets, offering to refill tea, and bringing napkins and sauce when we flagged them. Given the pricing and overall quality of the food, I would prefer to visit other locations closer to me. read more

The restaurant occupies what looks like what used to be a Macaroni Grill or an Olive Garden. An employee dropped off a pamphlet and a menu along with a sharpie pen. She took our drink order and left. The pamphlet contained a dim sum menu. It took me about 10 minutes before I realized that the pen was to be used to mark in the pamphlet with our dim sum order. This is what we ordered. Spareribs w/black bean sauce - 3/5, just mid Pork w/vegetable potstickers - 3.5/5. flavorful, wish they were a little bigger Steam BBQ Pork Rice Roll - 4/5, pretty solid Seaweed Salad - 3/5, not worth ordering Roasted Duck - 1.5/5, very little flavor, not sure how you screw this up We also ordered Orange Chicken from the regular menu, my wife and son enjoyed it. Unfortunately, we can't give half stars otherwise I would give this place 3 1/2 stars. My husband and I came by here for dim sum after seeing some hype on social media and what not not realizing that this place has been open for quite a while. We ordered a ton of dishes, probably more than two people really needed it, but we wanted to make sure we got to taste some of our favorites. Overall, the dim sum is OK. My husband and I lived in the Bay Area for a while before moving to Davis for school, so our standards are pretty high. Unfortunately this is not going to be my new go to. Although the flavors of the food were pretty OK, we found everything to be really soft. Our shrimp and chive dumplings were literally disintegrating and my chicken feet were too soft. The sticky rice, however, and the tripe were delicious sui mai, and ha gao were pretty good, with the sui mai being pretty juicy. We paid $100 for 10 dishes! I know prices have gone up everywhere but this felt pretty steep. Overall, I don't think we'd come back. I would rather go to South Sacramento and eat dim sum there and then get my Asian grocery shopping done. Restaurant itself looked like a standard Chinese dim sum restaurant. Diner here for the first time with my girlfriend and her family for Chinese New Year. We arrived for dinner around 7, waited a few minutes as the front and then were seated in the main area. After looking over the menu we ordered the following: Appetizers: Deep fried Pumpkin Noodles Rice Garlic Gai Lan (Chinese broccoli) Dumplings Roasted duck Honey Walnut Shrimp Jasmine tea Dessert: Taro Tapioca dessert All of food was really good and we left completely full. They were more like beef and shui mai paste. The sticky rice was good. I loved that they had salty egg yolks in them. The eggplant with shrimp paste is fried. So I was wrong. I've eaten here an uncountable number of times since my original review and this place is somehow underrated. It's all about ordering the dishes that really shine here. Dim sum wise they have the best har gow and lo mai gai. The congee is delicious. I can't stop getting their crispy skin pork. The entrees are great too. The clay pots, duck, and noodle dishes always hit the spot. The food comes at a decent pace. The servers are the right amount of attendant. The only thing I don't like is the parking and the outdated entrance, but nobody is perfect right? I recommend this place frequently. Ambience? It feels more expensive than it is necessarily. This is one of my go to restaurants in North Natomas and I have written reviews about their dim sum dishes but today I ordered their fish fillet in black bean sauce with onions and bell peppers and I tell you!!! My family and I would come here monthly prior to Covid. And this place was packed AF. I'm talkin' waits of up to 45 mins to an hour on the weekends before 1pm. The ladies would come by your table with hot and fresh dim sum on a cart and you would point to what you wanted. My go-to orders were the har gow(shrimp dumpling), fried taro with minced meat, crispy shrimp balls and the beef chow fun. Service wasn't the best, but the food slapped. Sit down, order, eat and GTFO because more people were waiting to eat their food (back in the days). They had won an award in 2018 and that was what made them popular amongst the Asian asians (FOBs is what my bro calls them) at the time. Post coco, I've been here a few times with my mom, and I noticed the changes. They stopped rolling around with the dim sum carts and switched to pen and paper menu. You mark what you want, and they'll bring it out on a tray for you. You'll see an A, B, C, etc next to the pictured dish which indicates the price, ranging from 5.50, 6.50 and up. My mom looked over the menu and got a sticker shock each time we came here. The price of the chow fun increased by $5 since 2021. I watched over the years how my beloved har gow increased in price as well. It's almost double of what we would've paid pre-coco. They also charge for tea and hot water, so my mom brought her own tea bag to use. We've only come back because we had gift cards here. And the food has been just okay. There would be inconsistency with the food temps. Either hot or luke warm. Service was so-so and now they make you check in on a tablet instead of writing your name and party size down on a clipboard. My mom didn't know how to use the tablet feature because she prefers Chinese, so if I wasn't there her and her friend wouldn't know how to check in. Upon being seated I noticed a sign that if your party is 6 or more, they automatically charge 18% gratuity on your bill. There seemed to not be so many Asian asians dining here like I'm used to seeing back then. The restaurant isn't as packed as it used to be, and the wait times are surprisingly short. Maybe they all went to Asian Pearl on the opposite side of town instead because they're feed up with the high prices. Overall, food is decent but not worth the inflated price. Went on a Tuesday around 11:30am. It wasn't crowded, and the food came pretty fast. The food was good, this is usually our go to spot for dim sum. My mom loves coming here when she comes to visit. We really love their salted egg bun. They did change the bun to black. It used to be white. My kids love the shu mai, and my baby loved the radish cakes. Inside is big, a lot of seating. Got seated and looked through the menu which was pretty easy to choose from since they all had photos depicting the items. We put our order in and everything came out in about 5 - 10 minutes. Got a variety of items that were definitely classics such as Siu Mai, Bean Curd Skin Roll in Oyster Sauce, Shanghai Meat Dumpling, Baked BBQ Buns, Fried Shrimp Ball, Steam BBQ Pork Rice Roll, Steam Shrimp Rice Roll and sticky fried rice. After trying everything, the Siu Mai, Egg Tarts and Baked BBQ Buns were some of the highlights. The Siu Mai being a decent size, had the classic richness of the pork and shrimp while the egg tart had a soft flaky crust with perfectly egg middle. The Baked BBQ Buns are the must get item being lightly sweet on the outside, nice fluffy bread and savory BBQ pork inside. On the other hand, I did wish some of the dishes were more fresh or on the hotter side such as the Shanghai Meat Dumplings and the Bean Curd Skin Roll which does affect the overall texture of the items. From the ambiance to the ease of ordering and the traditional dim sum dishes, I would come back again to get these classics and try some other items. read more

A great place for dim sum for first timers and less adventurous eaters. They had a Michelin recognition in 2021 and lost it, but recently regained it in 2025. Personally, I feel like this place is good but not outstanding and I would prefer other places in Sacramento based on the steep price point here. However, this is the most palatable, and likely best service for a dim sum restaurant in Sacramento. We noticed that there were a lot of people ordering from the regular lunch/dinner menu and as a result, the restaurant has opted out of the traditional carts for a menu ordering system. They still have an amazing tea selection and all the items came very quickly. Very busy inside and very ornately decorated. A few notable items: - Golden Pumpkin: We did order this off the "regular" menu but it came in a small portion anyway. Delicious! Wish it had shrimp, but that would likely have made it even more expensive. - Golden Shrimp Noodle Rice Roll: Our favorite selection and the only thing we ordered two of. Love the variety of textures! - Gai Lan: Gotta have a green veggie at dim sum. We requested them to go light on oil and they did, thus making the food non greasy and lot more flavorful. It's a birthday and we chose Chinese Dim Sum to celebrate. I was informed by the birthday girl that this is the best dim sum restaurant in Sacramento. All I can say is, that is a very truthful comment. I grew up in Hawaii, and I've had dim sum all over the islands, overseas while flying in my job, and of course in San Francisco, and this is by far the best I have had, hands-down. The atmosphere was very nice. Although it was crowded, you could not hear conversations from the tables next to us. The temperature was very comfortable, and the service was exquisite. Our servers were constantly coming by the table to check on us as they brought more and more dishes by. Everything we had today was absolutely fantastic and a lot was taken home afterwards. The total bill was $358.44. Yes, that's an expensive meal for 3 people, but we had enough food to probably serve 6 people and if you're going to a really good restaurant, of course you're going be paying for the service, the chef, the staff, and the quality of the food. This is definitely not a Panda Express! As far as a negative on the food, the lobster dish was very expensive and I wish it was broken down more. It was a lot of work to get through the lobster and get to the actual meat. As far as the atmosphere, the only negative thing that I can say is that I wish the tanks had more creatures in them. Unfortunately, they're tables right in front of the aquariums, so you can't actually walk up and take a look at some of the lobsters and crabs that were there today. From a distance, it didn't look like they were very many in those two tanks. Overall, if you're in the mood for dim sum, quality dim sum then this is the place to go to. I never knew this restaurant existed until I saw it online. I have driven in this plaza multiple times and never noticed it. The inside was actually pretty nice. The seats and tables were well displayed. I was quickly seated with my spouse. I ordered a couple of stuff such as, empress chicken [steamed chicken with their garlic ginger oil sauce] , roasted duck, sui Mai, shrimp dumpling, fried pork dumpling, steam rolls with pork, fried rice, and egg tarts. The food itself was decent. The shrimp dumpling was not bad, the fried pork dumpling came out super hot and was delicious. The fried rice was not that good. The steam rolls with pork I can do without. They had old pork in the steam roll. You know the texture of like old meat that taste like Jerky. The highlight of the stuff was the egg tart. It was fluffy and delicious. Overall the food were mediocre. I would say for a dimsum place it is quite expensive. There were not many people here. Ever since this restaurant opened, I don't think I've been here once and thought it was above a three star restaurant. I've been here a number of times for dim sum and for dinner years ago and most recently, I had dim sum here over the weekend. The male host offered us a small table a little off from the main dining area. As he proceeded to walk us to the table, he stops and detours to another table to help them get take out boxes. Then, he wonders why I didn't just go straight to the table myself. It is his job to show people to their tables and not question why I didn't just go there on my own. Then when he asked what tea we wanted, I asked him what kinds of tea they offer. He proceeded to name a list full , which oolong was one, so I chose oolong. After the tea was brought, it was very light in color so I waited awhile to see if it needed to steep longer. After a long time, I had some of the tea and it tasted light like water. I asked another waiter about it and he said that they don't even carry oolong tea and that the host made a mistake. So not only do they take the tea order, they don't even mention when they don't have the right tea, and just try to pass off another tea as the right one. Nevertheless, the tea tasted bland like water. The waiter replaced it with jasmine, which was a tiny bit better, but still very light with no body. Let's move on to the food. Very lackluster dim sum commanding high prices. Their soy sauce chow mein tasted reheated, not fresh, and had lousy texture. For $10.95, it wasn't worth half that price. Their Empress Chicken was nothing but a small plate of boney chicken pieces with not much meat on them. It was a far, far cry from the photo that was pictured on their ordering menu. The flavor was okay and the ginger scallion dipping sauce was good. But also for the price of $10.95, it wasn't quite up to par. The siu mai wasn't that great either. It was soft in texture and was just okay. It ain't got nothing on ABC bakery siu mai. Siu mai was $8.50 for 4 pieces. The steamed bbq pork rice roll, fried shrimp ball, and fried pork dumplings were not bad, but also not the best I've had. Service was lacking. Starting with the worst host experience, followed by no attention to when water needed refilling. Each time we needed service, we had to wait and wait till someone glanced in our direction and I had to wave my hand ferociously to get someone's attention. Only towards the end, one lady came by with water and offered a refill. No tea refill as well. Staff was okay about bringing boxes to-go and dipping sauce containers, but I did have to ask twice. At Yue Huang, tea is $2 per person and hot water is $1 per person. In the past, I've eaten dim sum and dinners here with family from SF and LA and not a single person thought the food was that good, each time. Needless to say I didn't agree with the Michelin rec on this restaurant. On the plus side, the restaurant was decorated nicely and a little more upscale than ordinary dim sum restaurants. read more

It's been a couple years since I've been here and I noticed a big decline in the quality and taste. The portions also seemed somewhat skimpy. The chicken feet dish only had 3 chicken feet. The chow mein also lacked a lot of protein. All the dishes came out very fast, but it wasn't very hot which makes me think they were sitting out. Service was good though. Overall it was just very average - nothing to rave about which is disappointing since I really enjoyed my first visit here. read more

First time at Yue Huang, and I have to say the place looks stunning. Upscale, clean, and beautifully designed. We got seated quickly despite how busy it was, which was a nice surprise. We ordered a variety of dishes, and the food overall was fantastic. The honey walnut shrimp stood out as one of the best I've ever had perfectly crispy with a sweet glaze that didn't overpower. The vegetables were fresh, garlicky, and still had a nice crunch. The sweet and sour pork was also really well done crispy with a balanced flavor that wasn't too sweet or too tangy. Peking duck was satisfying, and the salt & pepper tofu was decent but leaned on the bland side compared to the other standout dishes. The only downside was the rice situation it came out way later than expected, and when it finally arrived, it was the wrong type. After waiting so long, we just asked for plain white rice out of frustration. It didn't ruin the meal, but it did throw off the timing a bit, especially since it arrived after most entrees were already on the table. Also, a heads-up dim sum service ends by 3 PM, so plan ahead if that's what you're coming for. Despite the hiccups, the food was memorable and the environment makes it great for both casual dining and special occasions. This place is a little bit on the pricey side, so I don't come here a lot.However, I find myself coming here enough. The food is good.The service is good. Tonight I had an all time favorite.The tomato beef chow mein... What's crispy news. Also added up some salt and pepper pork chops and sauteed shrimp. We made it for dim sum! Overall, it's a 3 stars for me. PROS 1. You can get on the waitlist via Yelp when you are within one mile of the restaurant. Otherwise, you can add yourself to the waitlist when you get there via the kiosk. We had to wait only a few minutes for a table around 11:30 am on a Sunday. 2. The restaurant was pretty full with all kinds of folks so it seems to be a popular place. The wait staff operate like a well-oiled machine. Some wear headsets to communicate orders to the kitchen. All staff were courteous. 3. The menu has pictures for those unfamiliar with dim sum dishes. Prices for each type of dish are on the front page. They give you a sharpie marker to order the number of dishes you want. Then, they will print an order slip and mark off the dishes on the slip as they arrive at your table. 4. Prices are on par for what you would expect for dim sum. The variety of dishes range from steamed to baked to fried, etc. 5. The fried dishes seemed fresh and hot from the fryer. We were warned that the Chinese donut was hot, especially because we had two children at our table. The fried chicken wings had a nice flavor and crunchy exterior. 6. Speed. The dishes started arriving soon after we placed our order. CONS 1. Lack of consistency. Some dishes were better than others. We enjoyed the shu mai and sesame balls. However, the steamed egg yolk buns and bbq pork buns were disappointing, mostly because of the dough. There was a slight aftertaste and the dough was not silky smooth. Some dishes were room temperature rather than warm/hot. 2. Lack of condiments. The condiments tray had soy sauce and a red chili paste but not the smoky kind that I've had in dim sum restaurants in Southern California. Not sure if they offered hot mustard or not since we didn't ask them. 3. Lack of variety. They don't offer my favorite sweet ginger tofu dish. We tried the mango pudding, which wasn't very sweet, but it was okay. Would we come again? Definitely. Next time maybe we'll try the baked buns. read more

Our party of 7 got seated quickly and ordered dumplings, buns, sticky rice, pork belly, shrimp fun. It all came out quickly and was tasty. You can't go wrong with this place. The dim sum is always fresh and delicious. We went on Christmas Day with family--very crowded, but the wait wasn't too bad. It was nice to enjoy a bit of sunshine during a break in the rain. Easily one of the best dim sum spots in town. I never get tired of their food. A must-try! read more
