Been going to this places for years without problems but recently our take-out orders have been wrong, missing things or not even made correctly. Once to get it home what can you do right? We did take out tonight since I'm recovering from Covid. We were blown away when we got home and tasted the fabulous food! The salmon sushi was amazing, like velvet. The rolls were delicious! Nice little sushi place in downtown Fallbrook. Fish is fresh, friendly and convenient.

While visiting Camp Pendleton, I had a craving for sushi and since I'm in California and visiting from Minnesota, why not take advantage of the fresh fish!?!? The closest place was Yumi and what a treat! I ordered take out and while we waited the staff was incredibly friendly which was very refreshing. I ordered 2 Spicey tuna hand rolls, salmon and tuna nigiri and 2 rolls, Golden Yumi and Red Dragon. Everything was excellent! First off they got the order right and everything I needed for a to go order was in the bag and the food was amazing. The cuts of fish were very generous and oh so fresh. Very fairly priced for the amount too because the rolls were large too so you felt like you got your moneys worth. I give a 5 star for excellent sushi and superb customer service. I tried for the first time today & was very disappointed with food & service.I came in at 11:30 & placed a to go order & paid plus tipped.I explained I had to grocery shop next door at Major & they did not have to hurry that I would be about 15 minutes. Friendly server said they were fast & it would be very quick. There was only one table of 6 in restaurant. I was a good 30 minutes & when I returned my roll was not ready. Had ice cream,etc. in car but waited an addtional 5 minutes. I requested extra Wasabi when I came back to pick up. There was actually no Wasabi or Ginger in my box or bag. Roll was soggy as literally buried in the topping. Tuna had a fishy taste not in a good way. Threw the roll out so that was $16 down the drain. I called they apolgized but no offer to make it right. read more

So I let the dust settle and the kinks get worked out because this is a fairly new spot. Saw some mixed reviews online from the 1st day. I have a feeling the negatives were from supporters of the other local spot that had been the only one for years. Well Yumi has come in and made a great impression. Great presentation, high quality and very friendly owners and staff. We tried a few rolls, a couple dishes and a bento box. Our daughters shared a kids box. Delicious Udon. Delicious sushi. Perfect sauces, and the ramune goes with everything. Not to mention how good the noodles are in the udon, they're not too thin, and not too thick. Perfect size and so soft and tasty. The shrimp tempura and mixed tempura is made so amazingly good. It's really very good for people who like udon or are new to sushi. Not to mention how they can have your food ready for pickup in 10-15 minutes, it's truly a blessing. 10/10 recommend. read more

First timers and we loved it! To start, they were very kind greeting us and thanking upon departure. Customer device was quick and very friendly. Prices were comparable to other sushi restaurants. What set them above many is the presentation of each plate. They obviously set it down with a creative vision and an artistic touch. I've come here a few times and they were closed earlier than their scheduled time. They don't take the time to adjust their time online and it's such an inconvenience. The food is not bad but over all not a place I recommend. Make sure you call before going there cause if they are slow they will close the restaurant, so don't rely on their time schedule on google or yelp, otherwise you'll be disappointed. Tried Yumi last week and loved it. We had the Bento combo box. Sushi was fresh and tasty. Baked mussels were large and cooked perfectly. Service was good, our waitress was pleasant and on top of her game. Only minor criticism was the chicken teriyaki was cut up into too small pieces which resulted in it being dried out. read more

Came here with my son on there first day. Great quality and friendly staff. I felt the prices were really good. I have paid a lot more for sushi at the other place in town and Yumi had better sized rolls for there less expensive price. Really enjoyed. Been craving it again so time for another fix. read more

We have been here 4 times now. The food has always been excellent. The service improved from our first visit. We originally went in the first week so obviously there would be growing pains. Now they have the full package! Great food and service. The owner has been there every time. Even during mother's and father's day. His daughter is usually there as well. I had to try out the new sushi place. I stopped by last week to get a menu when I saw it was open and finally tried it last night. I ordered to go since I noticed the seating was very limited in the dining area. I ordered two rolls and the shishito peppers. The rolls were huge and like the name Yumi! Came in on Thursday to try this place out I heard of the reviews thru "Friends of Fallbrook" and neighborhood the community people are talking about it. The restaurant was packed and with one server, one bus or one chef this is a very superb service to my eyes. This place is small but it's not a big franchise it's like a local spot of which I'll be coming back.
