Shrimp, chicken, egg & ALL THE SPICES w/ veggies

Been here a few times by myself and with my kids, we can always find something or a mix of something that they like. You can get all different types of levels of spice, I'm pretty consistent at making myself sweat. Every time we've walked in. We've been greeted with a smile and quickly seated and food prepared quickly and properly also. Quiet atmosphere right now they have the World Cup on which is great. So I can eat some delicious food and watch some great sports! I'm sure I'll be back again, and again, and again.

Came here with 2 friends, for lunch on Saturday. It's in a strip mall and bigger inside, than I expected. You get to pick from soup and some cooked food (like dumplings/wontons/wings, etc) before you pick the items you want in your bowl. It was kind of weird to put the raw meats on top of your veggies/toppings but you put everything in a bowl and hand it to cooks in the kitchen. They will prepare it and a server brings your bowl over to your table. The server explained the process (since it was our first time there) and he was nice and attentive. The price really can't be beat either, AYCE for lunch is very cheap. I'm a big eater and couldn't eat more than one big bowl.

It's only been a month since our last visit, but I see the restaurant has gone from single bowl to AYCE and increased the price of lunch from $12.99 to $15.99 and dinner from $14.99 to $18.99. We came before 3:30 pm today and grabbed the lunch price. At $15.99, I still think it's a good value. For lunch now as part of the AYCE there's a salad and fruit bar, three different soups, a small selection of sushi and, for dessert, small cake squares and ice cream. (The sushi was meh. It's possible it had been out since earlier at lunch, it was pretty dry. The regular menu sushi I had last time was good and a reasonable price.) The hot and sour soup was more than decent and the fruit was fresh and delicious. The service today was great. The staff made sure our water glasses were filled and that the used plates were removed pretty quickly. I'll be back.

We've been coming to Yummy Bowl since they first opened, and honestly, we were so excited to finally have a place like this in the area after the Bethesda location closed years ago. The food is consistently great -- I usually do the one-bowl option with noodles instead of rice (sometimes paying extra, which I didn't mind because of dietary reasons). But during my most recent visit, the experience was just... uncomfortable. They've taken away the single bowl option for dine-in and now only do all-you-can-eat unless you order to-go. That was fine with me -- I just opted for to-go so I could still enjoy it at home. The issue was with our server. From the start, he hovered way too much, to the point that it made us anxious. While I was picking out my ingredients, he interrupted me multiple times with random questions and comments, and even came back to my friend to reconfirm her sushi order after he had already written it down. We asked for a minute to decide on things, and he was literally just standing there, watching. It felt intrusive and uncomfortable instead of helpful. Then, once we finally got our food and sat down, he disappeared. The sushi came out without the sauce we had ordered, and we had to flag him down just to get the check. So in the beginning, it felt like he was overbearing, and then when we actually needed something, he was nowhere to be found. The food is still excellent -- that part hasn't changed. But the service really killed the vibe this time. It'll probably be a while before we come back, and if we do, we'd definitely ask for a different server.

Came back to say that it's officially AYCE now! $15.99 for lunch and $18.99 for dinner :D I still feel that one bowl is enough, but for those that want more; here you go! The quality is still SUPERB and now you can add salad and soup to the mix. Bring your family, friends, and anyone who would enjoy a bowl of happiness.

Heard about this place through a friend, so I stopped by to check it out. They were running a sushi special for $9.99 for any specialty roll so I got the spider man roll. It was not good at all. The seaweed was very stringy, almost like when you get a piece of hair in your food and youre pulling it out. But the real star here is the DIY stir fry/hibachi bowls. There are cards at your table for you to check what you want your base to be (fried rice/white rice) and then you go to the buffet bar and put whatever ingredients you want to go in your bowl. They have noodles, veggies, and various meats. They also have different seasonings (garlic powder, onion powder, steak seasoning etc) and lastly they have an array of sauces (teriyaki, general tso, yum yum, schezuan, etc) for you to choose. Once that's done, you hand your bowl and card to the guys on the grill and they'll bring your cooked bowl to you. It's all you can eat but one bowl satisfied me. They also have a buffet bar with salads and desserts. And in case you don't want sushi or stir fry, they have seafood boils as well. A little something for everyone. The environment is super casual, which was okay but on a Sunday night, it was very loud and rambunctious which made my dining experience not the best. I'd definitely come back more during the lunch hour when there aren't as many kids running around. Overall 3.5 stars.

The first time I had a Mongolian bowl was when I was in college. That was a very long time ago. I haven't seen anything like it in this area until now. The location used to be Bamboo Buffet and they have done a great job of opening it up with their own decor. It was a little confusing when we were handed a card to select our rice order. For the newbie, you just choose what type of rice you want so it will be added to your bowl later. You can also order no rice. I did not know that until the server came back to collect our cards and to give us an empty bowl. When I didn't want rice, she crossed out my selection and wrote "No Rice." on the card under special request (see photo). So I don't keep you in suspense, they ended up giving me rice. Oh well. Our next step was to go up to the buffet and pile our bowl as high as possible. If you didn't want rice, here is your opportunity to get noodles instead. Next in the buffet line were some veggies. This included onions, cilantro, green onion, mushrooms, bean sprouts, green beans, and broccoli. Then came the seafood items such as octopus, mussels, shrimp, scallops, imitation crab meat, and two types of fish - a white fish and salmon. After the seafood items, you have pork, chicken, and steak. We were again unsure what to do after this. We saw some sauces, so we ladled some of the sauces directly onto the bowl. After doing that, we realized that some people put sauces in small containers. Were the sauces for later or part of the stir fry? Maybe both? Side note: The lady behind me scooped out every sauce that was available into the small disposable single-use containers. If you've read any of my reviews, I think disposable single-use items are so harmful to the environment. I would love it if restaurants used re-usable containers. One of the chefs did ask me what sauces did I pour on my bowl. I'm not sure why he asked. Maybe because all the other customer bowls are being prepared on the same element and they wanted to keep some perhaps spicy sauces away from others? Well, I had my doubts about how this bowl was going to be cooked. I mean, I piled meat on top of seafood. I know seafood takes less time to cook than red meat. I really should have stood and watched the chefs cook my bowl to see if they separated out the ingredients. The final results were brought to our table by our server. To my surprise, they got some of it right. The small shrimp and scallops came out just right. The octopus was overcooked and rubbery. The steak and salmon were too well done. I liked that some items had a bit of char on them. Overall, it was good. We were also told that ice cream was included. I walk up to the freezer to find only three choices of your typical vanilla, strawberry, and chocolate in a child size cup. All had the label of "flavored." I really shouldn't have taken one but I did knowing I was only getting flavored strawberry and not real strawberry ice cream. LOL. For the price of a bowl, it was plenty for leftovers. Maybe it was the fried rice that I didn't want was added to the bowl. LOL.

My Mongolian barbecue bowl with scallops, shrimp, and salmon.

Mongolian barbecue is back! It's not just back, it's back in style! Yummy Bowl has figured out to do Mongolian barbecue right. It's super clean, high quality, and also relaxing. Gone are the days where you had to push in to get your food cooked and then awkwardly stand around hoping you got the food back. You start here by sitting at a table and filling out a card with your name and preferred type of rice. You give the card to them so they can bring your bowl back once it's cooked. Then you add all the ingredients, and they have some good stuff here! The noodles are delicious (go for the double carbs it's worth it) and they have a huge variety of vegetables. They have every type of meat, poultry, and seafood you could imagine. I filled up on shrimp, mussels, scallops, and salmon. Wow. Again, everything is super clean and neat. The food is fresh and high quality. You also get to choose between over 12 types of sauce. They have a sign that explains the flavor profiles of each sauce and they even have little spoons so you can sample the sauces! All of this quality is choice is only $15 for dinner, and you can get your second bowl for another $5. Looking forward to coming again!

I searched for new restaurants in the area and Yummy Bowl popped up, so I picked it to have a weekday lunch with an old coworker. In a plaza with lots of free parking and seating, but only a handful of people during the whole time we were there. Ambiance was ok, casual place for a quick lunch or dinner, probably would've been better if the cooking area was in the middle so you can see your food being cooked while seated. Place was clean and ingredients were fresh. Like many others said, not a lot of Mongolian grill places around and I too remember the one that closed in Bethesda. 4/5* for casual ambiance for what it is and meant to be. Service was great, everyone was very nice and explained the options clearly. 5/5* Build your own bowl by filling it up and having them cook on their big round grill. Food was fresh, although I wish noodles weren't part of the bowl space and instead was an option to replace rice - I love udon and lo mein, but that meant less space for veggies and meat. I see photos from others and they did a great job piling up the meat! I added some seasoning and sauce and it tasted a bit salty since they do salt it, so I would recommend going light and even with the sauce, you can always add more later after your bowl has been cooked. My old coworker loved it and had never been to a Mongolian grill place and said he'll definitely go back! Food 4/5* Overall I would give it 4.5/5* for the casual place it is and value if you really pile on the meat, but I'll round up to 5!

I've been thinking about this place since my first visit and I can't wait to go back. We visited on 1/20 which was a holiday so they only offered dinner prices. The menu is includes apps, ramen, sushi, and much more. We came for the star of the show - the yummy bowl experience. Once you sit down, you are asked if you would like to participate and are given a card and bowl. From there, you include your name, table number, and the type of rice you would like. Then you take your bowl to the assembly like buffet. You fill your bowl with whateverrr you want. The options are limitless. You have noodles, fruits, vegetables, proteins, etc. Then you move on to season your bowl and choose the sauces you'd like to include. From there, you hand it over to the chef to cook and they'll bring you the finished product. My bowl was soooo good! Now, the only thing I that gagged me was how they handle to-go. I was confused and thought I misheard. My mom ended up going and asked to clarify. Your bowl is around $15. You can take your first bowl to go for free. If you want a second bowl, I believe it is an extra $4 to eat in and you cannot take your second bowl to-go under any circumstances. So if you're like me and it's your first time, you don't know if you're going to like it until you try it. If you do, enjoy a bite or two, box it up and get back in line! The pictures of the bowl look small but I promise, they're filling. And I'm greedy so take my word for it. I also ordered the seaweed salad and calamari. As you can see from the picture, the calamari was cooked extremely hard but the sauce helped me get through. We had a good time though.

Food: You make it yourself so you better like it. They had all the vegetables you could want, bamboo roots, baby corn, broccoli, you name it, and they were changing out the containers to make sure they were fresh. All types of protein to choose from too, tofu, scallops, shrimp, chicken, and good cuts of steak. Service: so nice and friendly. And fun. It was someone's birthday so they announced it over the intercom and everyone in the restaurant joined in, in the celebration. Ambiance: clean, normal, typical for a hibachi style place. It's perfect for large groups of people. I remember going to places like this when I was a kid. A great place to take children.

If you grew up going to Mongolian BBQ in downtown Bethesda and have a strong sense of nostalgia, this is a place you should try. Yummy Bowl has a very similar, if not the same concept, where you fill your bowl with starches, proteins, and veggies, and top your bowl with a mix of spices and sauces before handing it off to the grill. There is a wide selection of choices for starches, proteins, and veggies that you can add to your bowl, and they all appear fresh. The food stations appear clean and neatly organized which in my opinion is extremely important given that raw protein is present. Because you can choose what flavors to go with, I suspect there is something for everyone. I certainly had a great time choosing what to put in my bowl, and it was delicious (insert chef's kiss emoji). If I were more hungry, I would've gone back for another bowl. There is also a menu you can order off of, some of which includes beautifully presented sushi. You can also choose to add rice in your bowl or on the side, or neither, and just stick to the noodles like I did at the food bar when making my bowl. I think this is a very fine establishment that I look forward to coming back to. At other Mongolian bbq like restaurants (as well as the original in Bethesda), they served tortillas which was a nice alternative for people who maybe wanted to put their bowl into a wrap. I would love to see this incorporated, and think that it would be especially great for the children who may prefer to pickup their food and eat it. I would also love, and I mean LOVE, to see some kind of a peanut sauce added to the sauce selection. While their sauce options are good, a peanut based sauce would be life changing. While I do not have any allergies, this should be something to consider so you can ask that your food be prepared separately and safely. I look forward to my next visit to Yummy Bowl, and hope you give it a try if you haven't already!

I tried Child #1's soup and it was fine, though I will say whatever the mushrooms were (woodear, I think), they were fantastic, with a nice marinade and prepared so well. The rolls were fine. My sweet potato was clearly fresh-fried, so it was warm inside the rice, which was a bit surprising. On one hand, a bit crispier. On the other, hot sushi. I also love how at this location they give you garlic cloves and a press at the table so I can put ALL the garlic in my ramen. So good!

This was honestly one of the most disorganized restaurant experiences I've had in a long time…read more The service was confusing from the moment we sat down. After waiting a while, our waitress finally came over and took our order. We ordered an appetizer first while deciding on our entrees. A few minutes later, the exact same waitress returned and asked if we wanted to order any appetizers, apparently forgetting that we had already done so. I specifically asked whether the salmon in the Philly roll was fresh or smoked because I don't like smoked salmon. I was assured it was fresh. When it arrived, it was clearly smoked salmon. The bao buns were actually pretty good, although the lettuce was wilted and looked like it had been sitting around for a while. A different server eventually took our entrée order. Less than five minutes later, that same server came back and asked if we were ready to close out our check, despite the fact that we were still waiting for our food and had not received our entrees yet. When the food finally arrived, the ramen was disappointing. The noodles were undercooked and the broth was excessively salty. The katsu curry was the highlight of the meal and was genuinely delicious. Unfortunately, the miso soup that accompanied it was overloaded with dashi powder and tasted overwhelmingly fishy. Which made sense with the overpowering fish market smell upon entering the restaurant. To top it all off, when we were ready to leave, the server brought the credit card receipt for signature but forgot to bring a pen. Between the repeated service mistakes, incorrect menu information, lack of attention to the table, and inconsistent food quality, I'm genuinely surprised this restaurant has managed to stay in business. There are too many good ramen spots out there to justify returning here.

When I asked why the restaurant was closed before 3:00 PM, I was told that the kitchen closes earlier. Unfortunately, there was no indication that service would end before the posted closing time. This was disappointing, as I made the trip during their advertised business hours expecting to be able to place an order.

We came back tonight for the AYCE. You order from an app that you connect from your phone. The…read moreordering was easy and each person in the party can order items at the same time. There's a limit on nigiri/sashimi to one piece per order. What that means is that, when you put in your first (and subsequent orders), you can order one tuna, one salmon, etc nigiri/sashimi. That is a lot better than what I originally thought, which was one nigiri/sashimi total for each round. The variety in the AYCE is impressive. Lots of sushi, sashimi, nigiri, salads, soups, variety of appetizers (not all fried stuff!) and hibachi (beef, chicken and shrimp). Tonight, the food arrived pretty quickly after we put in an order. There was an issue toward the end of the evening when the app stopped working at our table and the table next to ours. The Staff did what they could to fix things; it did take about 20 minutes, though. I'm assuming this isn't typical. Staff did say that this does happen from time to time and the customer needs to exit the app and reorder. Except for the 20 minute delay, things worked fine. We placed at least 12 small orders during our meal. The staff was very good about filling water glasses, bringing our food and taking away empty plates. Really - high praise for the staff. The restaurant is very pleasant to sit in. It has Asian motif and nice music playing over the PA. The only issue was with the ordering system, which, as I said, I'm thinking was unusual. Ice cream and soft drinks included.

Many raw things were warm, and I got terrible stomach pain and nausea from their raw oyster, which was warm and tasted terrible. This convinced me that their food is not being kept in safe conditions. Their sushi rolls with "spicy tuna" or "spicy salmon" were chock full of tempura/panko flakes mixed with the fish, resulting in barely any actual tuna or salmon in the roll. Any rolls with tempura shrimp were soggy and lukewarm. Don't trust any videos you see online of this place because the actual rolls you get are 70% rice. This is the worst sushi experience I've ever had, mainly because it caused terrible indigestion from unsafe food handling on Kabuto's part.

Pains me to revise my previous rating for Gyuzo, but had a horrible experience today…read more We opted for the premium AYCE and were excited to try everything. We ordered some app, sushi, and a ton of meats. The sushi was so/so the ikura was a bit fishy/not the freshest, but I gave it a pass since it was included in the AYCE. The fried lotus was surprisingly my favorite non meat dish. Our friend rice was served lukewarm (the consistency of rice was a bit uneven like older rice that was left out for a bit) and way too oily so we had to send it back. Had no issues with the meat and service - although it was a tad slow and the 10 minute cooldown between ordering was unexpected. Our server was great and kept checking in with us. A few items we ordered never made it out to us, but at that point we were too full to care. My main complaint was with one of the hosts. We finished our meal and thanked our waiter and made our way back to the parking garage. From behind, we heard a very loud "EXCUSE ME." We originally thought we had dropped something and someone was looking out for us, but was appalled when she followed us halfway across the street and said "you think you're just going to leave without paying for your mocktail?" That was hands down the rudest I've been treated by a customer service based establishment. I've worked in hospitality and know you should never accuse a customer of anything. To make matters worse, she got the wrong people - we never ordered a mocktail. Will likely not return to Gyuzo for a while and stick to other bbq places with better service.
