as someone who seeks out speciality matcha cafes, i found myself sort of underwhelmed. i got the MILKY MOCHI ISUZU MATCHA LATTE ($8.99). presentation-wise, it's beautiful and very instagram worthy (but i didn't take nice photos because it was honestly pretty busy for a monday at 1pm, but the line did go decently fast). my drink was smooth & creamy, and i loved that it wasn't overly sweet. my main criticism is the matcha itself. the isuzu matcha flavor was very nutty and roasted than umami/grassy forward, so i wish there was just MORE. the flavor was pleasant but fairly subtle. i think the milk and foam ontop ended up muting the matcha taste completely. my biggest hesitation was the price. with the added dango ($3.99) ontop my total came out to be $14.25 for one beverage, and i usually get my beverages with oatmilk but i opted out today because of the $1.00 upcharge. while the drink was somewhat enjoyable and aesthetically pleasing, the flavor just didn't leave a strong enough impression for me to feel like the price was justified. too mild for my taste. i'd probably recommend this place to people who like creamier & dessert-like beverages. those who seek a stronger matcha presence and depth from the tea, may find this place underwhelming. read more

The matcha taste pretty good, service seemed pretty well, and the interior looked really nice and it wasn't as busy as I'd expected. Matcha Mori is a newly opened matcha spot in Mountain View and I had to check it out. I tried the crème brûlée matcha and the milky mochi matcha, and both were really yummy. I'm more impressed by the mochi drink, mochi has a very unique texture, kinda liquid style but still chewy. I left my drink on the refrigerator overnight, and the next morning mochi was still stretchy, not stiff at all!!!! And for the matcha, you can definitely tell that they use a high quality matcha. The shop has a very cute, minimal white aesthetic that makes it super cozy. There's also free wifi and a few seats inside if you want to stay and hang out. I tried a couple of things in this newly opened bright and beautiful shop. Here's my review. TL;DR: I will be returning to try some of their other flavored matcha drinks. Creme Brulee Matcha Latte: 4 out of 5 when I first started drinking it, but then 5 out of 5 the day after. If you like Biscoff cookies, you will love this drink. It is labeled as crème brûlée, but I think it might be a misnomer because this tastes like Biscoff cookie spices rather than caramelized sugar. Will reorder. Ceremonial Matcha: 3.5 out of 5. I think this is good, but not mind-blowing. Maybe it's because I was having the creme brulee matcha as well, and this one just paled in comparison. Large cup gelato with matcha, Thai tea, and pistachio: hands down, we'll get pistachio (5 out of 5) again- very lovely pistachio flavor. The second one I'd get again is matcha (4 out of 5) - it is pleasantly strong and not bitter. Thai tea is a pass - will not order again as it's nothing special. I tried the large gelato which came with 3 flavors- I chose Jasmine matcha, Sicilian pistachio and mango passion fruit. Texture was creamy and flavors were intense and delicious. The crème brûlée with Biscoff was delicious, especially with the thick cheese top. I added the additional tea jelly which enhanced the texture and flavor. Disappointing experience at Matcha Mori - we waited over 30+ minutes for our drinks - they forgot 1 of 2 drinks in our order, so one was made and one was forgotten until my husband asked why everyone's orders after ours were called and ours weren't after waiting 30+ minutes.
