I will start this by saying I love Yuzu, and frequent them often during my lunch. I'm writing this review following to back to back visits one Friday 12/1/23 the other today 12/4/23. Friday the service was horrible. I was seated at the bar and barely received any attention. Only one of the 3 bartenders ever acknowledged me and that was only to take my order. The hostess got me water after realizing I'd been sitting and waiting awhile I had to ask for silverware once I got my food because my server/bartender never gave me any. Eventually I got the attention of the of one person to finally cash me out but I saw numerous people seated at the bar receive on par service, aside from myself. Initially I wasn't too upset about it because all establishments have an off day. I do appreciate the gentlemen who was in the corner with a tablet that assisted me in signing up for rewards and asking me about how they did that day. He was the saving grace. Now today, I went with a group of 6 and there were some mistakes when our order arrived, but nothing but a simple fix. I was overcharged informed the server and they still charged my card the full amount. They offered reconciliation by giving me the difference in cash, not including tax. I forgot my food on the table and walked not even a minute from the establishment prior to me going back to retrieve my food. They informed me my food had been thrown away and offered an apology. I had to leave because I had to go back to work. I called them about 15 minutes later to inform them that I received subpar service and that I was upset that my food had been thrown away so soon. The manager Kai was completely condescending, rude, and my entire interaction with them over the phone was disdainful. I was offered a refund and to have my food remade which I appreciated. But Kai also made remarks like "i can't correct making a mistake we're all human," "you're not really telling me anything that we did wrong," "we don't just keep food after a customer leaves it," "the hostess asked a gentleman from your table if that was anyone's food and he said, 'no' that's why we threw it out," "You made a lot of modifications to your order, and our kitchen would make mistakes". All I did was ask for my order to be spicy and switch a vegetable. I felt extremely patronized and quite frankly Kai made the experience all the worse than it was initially. I ended up not even reordering the food because I didn't feel comfortable with the how passive aggressive he was with me. I probably won't be back because I'm more than disappointed with how I was treated all in all. Hopefully I receive a refund. read more

Decent but expensive. I came for happy hour and regular dinner on a Friday evening. The bar was a little busy but tables were easy to come by. I ordered a spicy chicken bao bun and Cognac drink during happy hour. The buns were smaller and didn't have much meat but flavorful and the drink was strong. Each was only $5 so can't complain there. I ordered the chicken katsu curry (which isn't listed on the online menu). The chicken was hot and crispy but the flavor of the curry sauce was lacking. Most curry sauces, you can pick the spice level but you weren't able to here. The portion was large but dinner prices average from $13-15 and more if you want extras. This is probably the best ramen in town. We went late on a Saturday night, and it was emptier than I thought. The restaurant is very simple, and the waitress was great. I had the Shoyu ramen, as well as the pork belly bao. It was quite expensive ($15/bowl of ramen), but worth it! All of the ramens, aside from the veggie ramen, were fifteen dollars a bowl. They also had dry options and rice bowl options as well. The noodles were a bit soft (I usually like them a bit chewier), but the taste was great. I enjoyed the food, and I will be back! read more

More like 3.5 stars than 3, but not quite 4. Service was great. I came in with a coworker for lunch and the first thing the bartender asked us was if we were on a lunch break. That's key. Great when people understand that we only have a certain about of time to dine. We had the steam buns for an app, they were good. Bun itself was very good along with the aioli, chicken was decent. I had the Rayu Paitan and my coworker had the Miso Paitan. I enjoyed it, but I don't think it was anything I will crave. I've had other ramen and while I did appreciate the attention to detail at Yuzu, the flavor was missing something. My coworker said his Miso was overly salty and he usually loves Miso. I'd go back, but probably not until I'm really really looking for Ramen on my lunch break again. read more

This place was so good! We came on a very cold Monday so there weren't many people there. We sat at the bar. My boyfriend and I both got cocktails and both were really good! We ordered the spring rolls and fried chicken ramen (it's under another name of course). The ramen was amazing! The flavor was great and on such a cold day it was the perfect thing to warm my soul. I was so disappointed in my food from Yuzu today. I always order the katsu curry and it has always been so good every time before this, but today was the worst. For one thing, it has always come with two chicken breasts, but today they skimped and only gave one chicken breast. If they are only going to give me half of the food, then they should also only charge half of the price. Instead, they still charged the full $13. Secondly, I'm not even sure if I can say what it came with was actually curry. It was so watery. Normally it is thick and has a lot of body, but today it was as thin and runny as oily water. Three stars because my drink, 500 Days of Summer, was great! The atmosphere was also nice. The food, however, was disappointing. This was our first time here so we thought we'd start with the basic tempura shrimp, which was not, in fact, tempura. It was tempura shrimp shaped but it was breaded. Flavorless breadcrumbs and the shrimp pieces were overcooked. I ordered the Shoyu Tare ramen. Broth was meh. The ramen noodles were curly and undercooked. The 30 minute egg was a big let down when you are accustomed to a Sous Vide egg. I paid to add the Beef Sukiyaki, which was gray in color and had no flavor whatsoever. We will not be back. read more

First the decor is really cool. The service was great. She was very knowledgeable on what the items on the menu are because it has a lot of un-familiar items. My husband got the Shio Paitan and he said it was the best he ever had! Very Flavorful and hearty. Me being a vegetarian was very underwhelmed and disappointed. For starters got the Bean Curd which wasnt bad but my entree of Veg Ramon was bland, boring and hardly anything in it. I added some extra vegetable umami bomb to help which it didnt. I ended up putting spicy chili paste in it to give it some sort of flavor. So this place is great for meat eaters but I wouldn't recommend it for Vegetarians at all. I had never heard or even noticed this place before snowing up. First impressions are a really cool space and vibe. A long restaurant that goes back. Big bar area. There is also an upstairs area that is pretty big and probably good for big groups. Really big space ! The presentation alone of every item was superb. Our first time eating at Yuzu Kitchen. There are a few tables up front near the entrance and a long row of tables inside across from the bar. We all decide to try their Ramen. I forgot to take an photos. I had the Sukiyaki Ramen. It had a very tasty beef flavor with vegetable and mushrooms. I liked it a lot. My daughter had the Yuzu's Shio. It was pork in a slightly spicy broth which tasted like Sriracha. Ok flavor if you like things a bit spicy. My wife had the Shoyu Tare. It had pork with a somewhat milder broth. Not bad but not as good as mine tasted. We also tried one of their stir fry dishes. We got the mixed protein with the Yuzu Special sauce. All of the meats and shrimp were very tender. The sauce was slightly sweet and sticky and very enjoyable. We had a pot of the Jasmine tea which was also very tasty with a lightly sweet floral flavor. After dinner we tried a flight of Japanese whisky. They make the choices for you from a variety of styles and price ranges. A bit expensive @ $35 for 3 one-ounce tasters, but individual pours would have been even more expensive. Not quite the great experience I was hoping for but still enjoyable none the less. The biggest turn off of the whole meal wasn't the food nor the service, which were both good, but the ambiance. From the time we stepped into the restaurant until we left, they had Rap and Hip Hop playing over the speaker system. It was a little distracting and not the kind of music I would have expected from a nice Japanese restaurant. I'd go back again to try some different styles of stir fry or Ramen. I have been hearing great things about Yuzu for a long time now. We opted for multiple appetizers and two entrees when we went- splitting everything in order to taste as much as possible. My favorite appetizer that we had was the "Cha-su bao"-SO good. The wontons were also notable. For our mains, we went with the Wonton Ramen and General Tso's chicken. I thought both were served as very large entrees which allowed us to take some home for the next day. My favorite part of the meal was the house made Yuzu soda! Looks Can Be Distracting This place looks cool upon first viewing, with the tables made from slices of trees and the long, imposing bar.  The music is the opposite of subtle, which is fine for those hoping for the bar experience.  While waiting to order and while waiting for food, there are two large televisions behind the bar to provide a distraction.  It feels very much like the bar is the central focus of this place, which is not necessarily a bad thing. Excellent food can make the wrong environment feel right.  Cutting to the chase, the environment won this battle... handily.  To be fair, the food is not bad.  It's just not good enough to make the bar feel less imposing or to make the music worth shouting over or to make a second trip worth considering. read more

I had two cocktails on HH for $5 a piece (HELLO STEAL!) one was a bourbon lavender bitter mixture and the other was a rum etc etc base- both were STRONG And I second guessed my decision in getting two (just kidding, I'm lying) . I ordered the gyoza, which admittedly is one of the best meat fillings I've had and I always thought Seattle had it on lock for gyozas and the like....anyway, I digress. I also got the edamame, which is self explanatory, however it did not taste like it was purchased in bulk and frozen for months over so that's a win in my book. Bartender was nice and attentive. Great lunch spot. Service is always quick and the food comes out piping hot. My go-to is the stir fry. I typically get the Mongolian beef stir fry. Portion is enough for lunch, but very filling. They have a nice bar area and would definitely like to check it happy hour or dinner. read more

I read the many reviews and decided to get delivery. I did not receive the correct main course. I ordered the wonton Ramen, and got the spucy curry ramen. If you atr a curry fan, well this was overwhelming with it, it is all you taste it is so overpowering. The tofu in it was very nicely cooked though, the ramen was fresh, but tasteless beyond that of curry. I as well got the gyoza, which were very good, the dipping sauce was a very nice balance.. There were so many rave reviews of the salt and pepper tofu that I had to try it, and meh, tasted mostly of way to much salt, but then again it is salt...and pepper tofu. read more

I went here because of the rave reviews and overall I'd say 'Meh'. Everything from service (for a not busy restaurant) to the actual food was just average. I thought the actual meat portions in the ramen was very, very small; the overall portion was reasonable and fair, just there should have been more pork belly. Skipping the lack of meat, the food was decent; though I liked Ki Ramen in Lawrenceville a lot more for both their ramen and the apps they offered. This place offers a lot more than just ramen, so maybe the other dishes are better. But I won't be ordering ramen here again. read more

This place was delicious. The tofu in my rice bowl was fried to perfection. I also added one of the ramen eggs which added a bit more flavor. I also tried the scallion pancake as an appetizer which was also good They also were able to seat my party of 8 about 45 minutes before closing on a weeknight. 3 big disclaimers to my review: 1.) Me and 3 friends went for dinner service during 4th of July 2.) I'm pretty sure there was only 1 person taking orders (and doing the bar) and 2 serving assistants. He tried to keep everything under control and didn't seem too rushed but I felt bad for how he was taking basically the whole restaurant. 3.) Asian vs. Asian Fusion are two different things to me. Also, I just noticed their online menu is like 80% correct compared to their in-house one. My boyfriend and my actual order: - Bacon-wrapped Shrimp (4 pcs) - Xiao Long Bao (5 pcs) - Salt and Pepper Tofu - Beef and brussel sprouts - Sichuan stir fry green beans with shrimp - Bacon wrapped shrimp wasn't actually as bad as it looked. It didn't taste like much of anything but looked like it was overfried and a little burnt - Xiao Long Bao -- if you really are expecting soup dumplings, go somewhere else. The dough was more like siaopao so even if there was actual soup in there, it gets absorbed so it's just like a siaopao vs. an actual Xiao long bao. Big disappointment there. - Sichuan stir fry green beans w/ shrimp not really much flavor. Definitely no spice despite it being supposedly stir fried with the Sichuan peppercorns distinct from the region. No spice, no flavor. Not worth the money, that's for sure. - Salt and Pepper tofu was probably one of my favorite things, well made to my liking and savory. - Beef and brussel sprouts I didn't get to taste, I left that up to my dude. Also, looking at the menu, a lot of things are described in quotes which I thought would be pretty cool. Like a signature one liner to describe every dish but nah, everything fried had in quotes "fried golden and delicious" or something to that note. It's on like 1/3 of all their items. Was funny the first couple times I noticed it but the rest of the menu made me think if they couldn't take the time with their menu, they probably won't with the food either. The ONLY thing saving it from 1 star is the tofu and the drinks. I forgot what the name of my drink was (it's not listed in the online menu) but it was pretty damn good although it could have been more spicy. Edit: I probably should have known better now that I think about it, I broke my own rule and ordered Chinese food at a Japanese restaurant. Dumb mistake. read more

the vegetable tempura was great. the tempura itself was pretty average, and the yam was a bit undercooked. they also didn't have the pumpkin :( but the sauce was so good!! i'm not sure what they did differently compared to regular tempura sauce but it was a bit sweeter with some garlic and ginger bits. for entree, i got the katsu curry don. the curry itself was quite dark and good but it was just sauce, no potatoes or anything else. for some reason, the katsu i had was a bit tough and hard to bite, but my friend ordered the same dish and hers was super tender. the portion size is huge so i would recommend sharing one! the space itself is very cute and trendy looking, reminds me of those trendy asian fusion bar restaurants in new york. the service was just ok. they took the dishes to the back to help us box, but ended up boxing my katsu and my friends katsu in the same box and all our remaining rice in the same box. we didn't really mind, but i think it would've been better if they just let us box it ourselves in case people didn't want dishes combined. read more

Cocktails from Yuzu Kitchen were tasty and tarty. It had a good balance with just the right amount of liquor and juices. Bartender gets two thumbs up. Chicken lettuce wraps were a great starter. Nice light appetizer that is packed with flavor. My husband and I shared a Seafood Feast that we were both satisfied with. Lobster, shrimp and squid were fried with tempura and mixed with bell peppers and chili peppers. Definitely had a kick to it so if you can't handle heat, I would request to change the spice level.
