My first two visits here were pleasant and unremarkable. Two friendly middle-aged women, one of whom is the owner, took care of me. Both those times they charged $15 for the work -- a little higher than the $12 I was used to paying at my regular place, but I was fine with that price. On my third visit, however, I was greeted by a young woman nail tech I hadn't met before. Soon after starting the work, she informed me that I would need new acrylics, not just fills, because these were very old. I told her no, I had just gotten all three replaced two weeks ago, here at this salon. She asked the owner about that, in Vietnamese (which I do not understand), and then resumed the work, just doing fills. When she finished I asked what I owed her and she said $25! I smiled, sure this was a mistake. I told her it was only $15 two weeks ago. She talked a bit with the owner, in Vietnamese, then came back to me in a stern and uncompromising voice, in English. She said the other tech quit because she had to take my job for $15! I told her OK I'll pay you, but I'm never coming back here again. This was with the owner standing by -- I guess I expected one of them to offer a compromise or something. When they didn't, I paid the $25 and left. I feel ripped off. If she had wanted to increase the price to, say, $18, I might have understood. But from $15 to $25?! I also think they should have told me beforehand that the price had increased drastically, since I was a returning customer and even called ahead to make an appointment. I feel a little dumb that I went along with the absurd increase -- maybe I should have argued more, or insisted on paying less. I guess even though it was a huge increase, it's still only $7 (I would have given her a $3 tip on the $15) so not really worth a fight. Thank God I didn't let her replace the nails as she wanted to -- what would she have charged for that? I'm sad I have to find a new nail place. If you go to so-called Angel, make sure to ask about the price beforehand.

This is now my permanent nail salon! I've been coming here for almost two years now after the…read moreservice at my previous salon declined while prices increased. The service at At Nails is consistently stellar. My mani and pedi always looks fabulous and lasts for weeks. Stephen is still my guy. He is meticulous. He knows that I like my nails short and square, and I don't want cuticles cut, and incorporates that into my manicure without me needing to remind him. Also like that we have a nice greeting and catch up, but never feel the need for obligatory conversation. I consider my manicure and pedi as relaxation time, and for me, that means silence. When Stephen has been out, Don and the woman have done my nails with expert precision and results. The salon itself is bright and light filled, perfect for the massive orchid and Christmas cactus collection, expertly nurtured by Don. I swear, he is a master gardener! A plant whisperer! Don has created living art with moss covered tree trunks with orchids and cactus growing in the nooks and crannies, giving pops of bloom and color. I look forward to see what has bloomed and what is transpiring amongst the plants, as much as I am about getting my nails done! Five star service and experience consistently!
