How does this place not have more stars?? While I prefer the location further south, the food is the same level of delicious. And by that I mean that these are my favorite tacos in the city. The asada is amazing!! Horchata is real good too! Prices are super reasonable. My only reason for not giving them a 5 is that the service is consistently pretty terrible. On this last visit, several members of our party never got water, despite asking multiple times. No refill on chips (and one basket didn't go far with 7 people). We waited FOREVER while the servers stood around chatting so we couldn't get our check. So, while I will suck up the bad service for really good tacos, I wish that could improve. read more

I had an order delivered to me and when I got it the food was freshly cooked and delicious. No wonder they been around for so long, the quality is so good and prices very reasonable . I went back and had to come and get some more of this awesome tasting food, and found the best service, the food was amazing. Try the rajas con queso gordita + chicken, you will be pleasantly surprised when you take the first bite, guacamole and fresh, crispy chips is a great compliment to any order and their salsas are the best I've had around Chicago. I came in here about 2 weeks ago on a Saturday, it wasn't as busy as I'd thought. (2pm) I always go to the location on 71st. We sat down and the girl taking care of us came with chips and salsa. Anything past the steak tacos are a fail. Attempted to try the red enchiladas and was highly DISAPPOINTED. They are mole and not red sauce. They should make this crystal clear on the menu. Not the same thing. They are cheese filled and topped. With a side of grease. You can tell they where nuked in the microwave because the top cheese was chewy and hard. By the time you get half way, like all microwaved leftovers, it's hard. Service lost them a whole start because there's a lack of it. The older waitresses seem to be the only ones with experience because the younger waitresses are impatient and rushing. Some re-training might be necessary. Or just paying attention. Aside from that it's a classic spot because there steak tacos are the best. Just stay away from anything else on the menu and take your meal to go. Disappointed. Waited 35 minutes after arriving 15 mins from ordering. Ordered torta with no sour cream and a few tacos. Well I Get home and my torta has sour cream. I tried to buy menudo on 8/23 but they were all out. Went back on 8/29 around 9:15am...it wasn't ready. You only sell menudo on weekends and it isn't going to be ready for "some time" on a Saturday morning when you open at 9am? K. Today, we placed an order which included 3 PLAIN steak tacos. We got 2 plain and 1 covered in cilantro and onion. You literally need to put meat on 2 tortillas. Plain tacos are LESS work. I've noticed their attention to detail has really slipped. We check our order every time and almost every time something is missing or wrong. This is during and prior to covid. The food is delicious. But the prices keep rising and the orders are sloppy. We used to order from this establishment every Saturday or Sunday...I think we'll take our business elsewhere. read more

Zacatacos! It's been way too long since we last had a taste of its delicious offerings and we travelled all the way to 59th and Pulaski just to satisfy our cravings. It did not disappoint. Hubby and I enjoyed the warm, crisp tortillas that the server put on our table the moment we sat down. We shared Asada (steak) tacos with onions and cilantro and Lengua (ox tongue) tacos with lettuce, tomatoes and cheese. Hubby asked for a little more cilantro, just because he wants more in his tacos. They were perfect with just a squeeze of lime and a little bit of spicy red and green salsa. We washed the meal down with sweet horchata with just a touch of cinnamon. Muy deliciosa! read more

Disappointed! I gave two stars because the place is clean and the service is fine. I went there for the first time expecting a great taco since it's advertised as "the best in town". The guacamole had tomatoes that were icy, and the taste was of a day before guac. I ordered two steak tacos, one on a flour tortilla and the other on corn. Both tortillas were cold. The meat was like warm, under seasoned and dried. I asked for cheese on both of them and they put a COLD BALL of previously shredded Munster cheese in the taco, they didn't even try to spread the cheese apart, it was like a scoop of ice cream in the taco that was already not warm enough. If you want a real taco go to La Pasadita, you can always expect the same delicious warm, juicy and flame grilled steak on a warm tortilla with killer salsa verde. read more

I was surprised. I have been to their 71st location many times but recently I was in the 59th intersection visiting a couple of businesses and decided to check them out. The place is really small with only a few seats available. But they do have a nice patio on the back. And now it is about to get hot (not complaining, we had a pretty nice winter this year) I think I will be coming more often. I was there with a friend and we had: steak nachos, steak and chicken tacos. The chicken was my least favorite. The steak was good and I think it is better than at 71st. But the nachos were amazing and that is not an adjective I use often to describe nachos. They come with asada, sour cream, refried beans, guacamole, pickled jalapeno peppers and nacho cheese (I have a problem with that word "nacho cheese" it is like it lacks creativity and limits the cheese) Anyway they were good. You get the nacho with steak and then the cream with a hit of the peppers. My mouth is literally watering as I write. I don't want to think about the nachos anymore because even though I am not too far from there, it is not near lunch time so I will move on to the service and the drinks. Service is nice and fast. They are packed sometimes. Usual drink menu: horchata, jamaica water and canned drinks. I wished they sold beer. A corona would be perfect to wash down those delicious nachos. The reason Zaca rocks is that their meat is grilled, not fried on a cooktop. They use quality cuts, fresh ingredients, and quality tortillas. Zaca has been named 1 of the best in the city. If reporters weren't so north side biased, I'd say they are number 1 or 2. Sure, celebrity chef X or celebrity chef Y opened a taqueria or was featured on Esquire. That's great not knocking a high end "taqueria" that tries to behave like street food. Today I had tacos from Zaca Tacos and the Paco's Tacos a block away, taking a break from my usual diet of burgers and fried chicken. I had two steak (asada) tacos to go, with cilantro and onions, and I went home to eat them. In my opinion, the tacos from both are great, but I have to give the edge to Zaca because the meat seemed more moist and flavorful, even though the tortillas were greasier than the one at Paco's. There's not much space in there, so take out is the recommended option. I think my living room is about the same size as the customer area at Zaca. Credit cards are accepted, with a $10 minimum. Definitely give both places you try if you can. read more

Food is good but there's issues here. Every time I call for pick up they take double the time I was originally told. So if I was told 15 minutes for my pick up, in reality they take 30. This isn't just once, it's EVERYTIME!!! What really bothers me is, it tends to be a small order. This was happening even before quarantine. I just called and asked for chilaquiles (yes I'm aware it's 12:30pm) and they said they don't have any because it's past breakfast time. However, I stepped into Zacatacos on 71 and they gave me my chilaquiles!!! The Zacatacos on 71 is always on point. This location is slow. SCREW FOUND IN TACO - DO NOT EAT HERE!!!! I went to eat here with my son, and as I was eating my food looked down at my meat and saw a SCREW in it! I was shocked and disgusted and immediately called the waitress over. She told me she would talk to the kitchen, and she did. She came back and told me that they told her they can cook something new for me and I said absolutely NOT. I would not eat from that kitchen ever again. It is extremely dangerous, and they should be ashamed that they didn't even have the courtesy to not have me pay for the meal.
