    Entree Arugula Salad

Zachary's stuffed crust pizzas never disappoint. This was my second visit to the Grand Lake restaurant within the past year. Its atmosphere is very welcoming and calm. Even when my uncle and I felt the background music was too loud for us to hear each other interact, the staff were happy to accommodate by lowering the volume. The arugula salad was simple but very fresh and not overbearing with the vinaigrette dressing. I felt that the Rustic Italian pizza had a soft texture but its filling of whole roasted garlic cloves gave it that needed "bite." Unfortunately, I could barely taste the Italian sausage due to being smothered in the tomato sauce. However, the mozzarella cheese amount was perfect. I deem Zachary's pizza to be exceptional quality comfort food that is reasonably priced.

A deep dish pizza to die for. Full of flavor, abundance of tomato, mushrooms, garlic, n' spinach I've never had at any other pizza parlor. Now I know why I counted at least 20 pizza makers in kitchen pumping out so many pizzas that take 30 minutes to bake to perfection. I'm getting hungry writing this.

Finally got to try this restaurant and we ordered a medium size Chicago Pizza pie! There are plenty of seats available inside, the pizza pie took about 30 minutes to make, so be prepared if you order. The food came out and was presented by the staff, it was good - alot for the both of us to share so we took it home.

After attending a memorial with friends and family, we decided to head over to Zachary's Chicago Pizza. It was my first time trying true Chicago-style deep dish pizza, and let me tell you--it blew my mind. We ordered about five different pies, all with their own flavors: * A classic cheese pizza that was simple but really tasty. * One with pepperoni on the bottom, which added a rich, savory kick. * Another loaded with bell peppers, mushrooms, and sausage (I don't eat pork, so I picked off the sausage, but the rest was still really good). The real standout for me was the Chicago-style deep dish loaded with sauce. I had two slices, and every bite was amazing. The sauce was fresh and flavorful, the crust had that perfect balance, and overall it was unlike any other pizza I've had before. The service was excellent. There were plenty of staff, and they were very attentive--checking on us every five minutes, refilling water and soda, bringing napkins, and making sure we had everything we needed. Super courteous and helpful. When it was time to leave, they offered us boxes without us even asking, so we could take the leftovers home. The ambience is also worth mentioning. The place is full of Chicago-themed décor that adds a lot of character and makes it feel authentic. Positive energy, good vibes, and a comfortable space to sit, talk, and enjoy great food. Final verdict: Out of 10, I'd give Zachary's a solid 9. The food, service, and atmosphere all came together for an experience I'd happily recommend. Whether you're going with family, friends, or just craving some of the best pizza in the Bay, this is a spot that won't disappoint.

We're at Zachary's Chicago Pizza in Oakland. Oakland. Let me tell you how I think about Oakland. I think Oakland is one of the great sports cities in the country when they get things going. The Black Hole with the Raiders -- they don't have them. Oracle with the Warriors -- they lost them. Even the Oakland A's -- you think Reggie Jackson back -- it sucks that Oakland doesn't have professional sports teams because they have some of the best crowds, best homes. So, I hate that. Now, this was the second most requested place in all the Bay Area. We don't know why. Chicago pizza -- Super Bowl order -- plenty of Super Bowl, pick it a few days in advance. Now, it looks good. I did go back and get napkins because it's so hard to eat this in the one-style review, but that looks really good. One bite. Everybody knows the rules. Don't want to burn my face off. Zachary's deep dish, Oakland. Face burned off. This is a different scale, by the way. I don't know how you can compare a deep dish with any other type of pizza. It's in a different category. I like deep dish. It's just -- how much can you eat? It's like a sit-down 45-minute meal. But it's rare you have this good a deep dish that isn't a chain like Uno's or Lou Malnati's or something that relocated. This is not a chain. They do have more than one location here -- a few of them -- but you don't see a pure Chicago-style place like this outside of Chicago very often. This is very good. I'm going to go for a deep dish. Now again, totally different scale. I'm comparing this versus other deep dishes. This is an 8.1 deep dish. This is great Chicago deep dish. 8.1 Zachary's. I can see why they got all the reviews. This is authentic, great Chicago deep dish in Oakland. Very good.

Stopped in to try a slice here while doing errands last week. Was a lot of deliciousness for the price! A huge slice of pepperoni was $7 and some change. The counter staff were friendly and easygoing. The space is open and inviting for a lunch break during the week.

Went to Zachary's to meet a friend on my way home from a long weekend. He asked me if wanted pan pizza and of course I took the opportunity, as I enjoy a good deep dish. I was not disappointed as the sauce and crust were very flavorful. The other plus was the staff. The service was excellent. Very friendly and checked in on us time to time making sure our drinks were full and if we had anything else needed. I would definitely go back if I was in the area, but being from Southern Cali, I don't know how many opportunities I will have. Definitely a go back.... Enjoy!! Plus I love the artwork on the walls.

I loved this location for groups! They have a lot of space inside and the parking outside isn't bad. It was clean and inviting inside. We ordered a stuffed pizza to-go with mushrooms, sausage and onions. I don't eat onions, but my daughter does. I thought there would only be a few onions to pick out, but it looked like they put two whole onions in the pizza! Yikes! Other than that, the pizza was delicious! Thank you!

This place was amazing. I don't have the opportunity to get a Chicago style pizza in my hometown so I look for it when I travel and found this place and I sure wasn't disappointed. Great pizza and great service. Shout out to my server Antonio, he was on the ball. I definitely recommend this place if you are in Oakland.

Stopped by Zachary's for a quick bite and were pleasantly surprised! We ordered the BBQ chicken pizza and it was absolutely delicious-- balanced, super filling, and packed with flavor. The staff was kind and welcoming, and we were impressed by their nice wine selection too. Great spot for a casual, satisfying meal!

As my bf's birthday tradition we have Zachary's pizza. This time we visited the Grand Ave restaurant in Oakland. We ordered the medium deep dish pizza with Pepperoni, Sausage, Mushroom and spinach. It was delicious, as usual. The pizzas are so thick and meaty, I can only eat one slice at a time, but we love to have some to take home. We also shared the Arugula salad which was huge (family size) Our server, Morse, was very friendly and professional. He even added a little drawing to our To-go box when he packed up our leftovers. I will say everything was good but fair warning, like most restaurants these days, the prices have gone up. Dinner with one beer each was $77 before tip. But, as it was a special occasion, it was worth the trip.

While this visit was in between the lunch and dinner rush, unfortunately I think they are understaffed because at the time we sat down there was only 1 person who was busing tables and taking orders. As a result, it took a while for them to be able to stop by our table and provide water, take our order, etc. There was quite a long wait between sitting down to ordering to actually receiving our food. By the time we had actually received our food, almost an hour had passed. While we were waiting, a few other servers eventually joined, but service was still pretty bare for us and we never received refills on water or plates to eat off of when we received our food. I understand that staffing and a backup in the kitchen are out of the staff's control, but it would've definitely helped for us to know in advance how long to expect to wait to align our expectations and arrange our plans for the day. Would advise giving customers a quick heads up/warning because that on its own would've made a big difference. As for the actual food, we ordered the mac trio with elote mac, chicken pot pie mac, and kogi short rib mac (for an extra fee). The elote mac was the best and most flavorful, the short rib mac was okay but not amazing or worth the extra money, and the chicken pot pie mac was very bland/flavorless and didn't have much chicken in it. The food didn't feel like it warranted the wait time and because of that I would not return.

I'm forever grateful for that recommendation because they make some of the best sandwiches I've ever had. I've tried a few items on the menu, but the one I always recommend is the Hot Italian. Everything about this sandwich is incredible. It's packed with flavor, and you can honestly tell it was made with care. I usually pair it with a bag of chips, and the total comes to around $18. It's absolutely worth every penny and always leaves me full and satisfied. The shop is consistently clean, and the customer service is always friendly and welcoming. I find myself going back over and over again, then telling myself I need to take a break--only to end up back there a few weeks later. That's how good it is. A couple of things to keep in mind before you visit: there's only limited street parking, so you may have to circle the block to find a spot. There's also not much room to wait inside, although they do have a bench or two where you can sit while your sandwich is being prepared. In my experience, the wait is usually around 15 minutes. I've honestly never been here when it wasn't busy, so expect a crowd. But once you take that first bite, you'll understand why. Great food, great atmosphere, and great customer service. They have a nice variety of items to grab that go well with your sandwich. The service was friendly and quick. Workers were all kind, and we love that it's dog-friendly! Regarding the sandwiches, you can get a hot or cold sandwich. You can also build your own! Companion got the Hot Boy, and I went the Build Your Own route. The sandwiches are hefty, with lots of great meats and fillings, and for the price, very decent! I wish my bread were a bit more toasted and crunchier, but that's my preference. It hit the spot, and I'd be open to trying their other sandwiches. I don't often go to delis, but Brothers Deli was a nice place to try. We enjoyed it by the waterfront, which makes it a great picnic option. Find them off Park Blvd., with street and residential parking around.

We informed them that we had to jump online to sign up for kids aftercare classes at 8pm to make sure they didn't think we were being pretentious d-bags at that time, which they all understood and encouraged us on. The menu is short and concise with three courses, each with a couple options. The wine list was very extensive and offered a ton of choices. We both decided to start with the Gazpacho and I ordered the Sugo pasta while my wife ordered the risotto. To finish I ordered the chocolate tart while my wife had the sorbet. First off, the gazpacho was amazing, easily a 10 out of 10! The flavor and texture was simply perfect. The Focaccia was also really good and an order must. The mains were good, but didn't quite hit the spot for us. The risotto lacked a bit in flavor, considering all the ingredients it consisted of. The Sugo sauce was good, but I found the pasta to be a bit undercooked; it was a thicker pasta that needed a little more time and didn't really adhere to the sauce that well. Overall I am giving it 4 stars, but this is mainly due to the mains that were served. The service staff were 5 stars as well as the gazpacho!

They are located in the Temescal area of Oakland, and they share a building with a Mexican restaurant. There's a parking lot that's shared with a pawn broker, produce market, and check cashing service. Their vibe is urban, with a rainbow flag on their front door, and assortment of plants inside. Other reviewers had mentioned a line upon opening, so we made sure to arrive 15 minutes before they open, but on this Friday morning, there was no one else but us. Our server was friendly, polite, and soft spoken. Their menu is quite small, which I appreciate. There's appetizers, sides, brunch, and dinner -- all on 1 page. Their food was outstanding, with rich flavors and beautifully presented with sauces and pickled radishes. We ordered... + Shanghai Lumpia - these were long, crispy, and properly filled + Daing Na Bangus Silog - deep fried milkfish with salad, garlic rice, and sunny egg. One of our favorites. + Fried Chicken (4-piece) - perfectly crispy and juicy. There's some warm spices in the batter, maybe all-spice. + Adobo fried rice - the pork was so tender, it shreds on your fork. This had a good amount of tanginess that was so good. + Pancit Sotanghon - not your typical pancit. The chopped veggies in this had an almost charred flavor that made the dish so interesting. There was not a bad dish. I definitely recommend this for elevated Filipino food that's not pretentious, with a modern, hip vibe.

Lush greenery abounds. Servers are nice, checking tables frequently. What fell short for me was the taste. Restaurant quality food but flavors are so divorced from the og that diners looking to satiate their Filipino food cravings will leave unsatisfied. Filipino food has very strong pungent flavors whether salty, sweet, sour, bitter, and definitely umami. It should punch diners in the mouth, no ands, ifs, or buts. Adobo sa gata (aka adobo in coconut milk) is a regional specialty. The sharpness of the vinegar mellows out with the addition of the coconut milk. But there should still be a clear and distinct flavor profile. The eggplant omelet was almost there. Liked that it wasn't greasy but again was searching for some punch of flavor. Maybe I needed to ask it they had a garlic, chili and vinegar dipping sauce. Or maybe atchara (aka pickled veg). Didn't care for the sticky rice dessert (aka suman). Didn't like the pureed texture. The green mango garnish was better when I dipped the slices in salt. FOB Kitchen's food is refined. Maybe too subtle and restrained. I get it. The chef has to appeal to the western palate, a wider audience than just Filipinos, to survive in an industry with razor thin margins. I look for good food and flavor, not necessarily for authenticity. So yes, I would still recommend this restaurant, for good eats but not for Filipino food.

I ate my fresh shrimp spring rolls so fast, it was so good but I was also really hungry lol I had to order the mini shrimp pancakes because it looked like it's a "must" order... The waitresses were super friendly and quick with taking my order! To the owner(s): Please do not change your ingredients in your food menu! Thank you for offering delicious pho!

Pretty underwhelming but, it had a nice seafood forward broth and it was very hot with tiny pieces of shrimp and lots of cabbage. I'd get it again. Then we got the chicken salad. Delicious. Shrimp chips were fun and the dressing had a great balance of sweet, and vinegary flavor with lots of chicken and fresh veg. Pork bahn mi was just okay. I've definitely had better. Bread was good. Meat was pretty sparse and the pickled veg could have had more flavor. Probably would order the pho next time. Everyone seemed to have that on their tables. And the sizzling beef looked great. Service was quick and courteous. I'll be back to try more
