The entrance to Zachary's can be confusing since the double door entrance is hidden out of view, on the side of the building. If you are on the main street, the entrance is on the left side of the building (left side of the Zachary sign on the building). Just follow the path. This location has a patio, great for warm days, or simply for enjoying the view of the busy street. The staff was so friendly and attentive. Even though we were outside, the staff did a wonderful job checking in on us, offering refills of our beverages and water while l ensuring we were doing well and taken care of (Shout out to Izzy and crew!) The Order: Medium Chicago Style Zachary Special One thing to know when ordering a Chicago deep dish pizza is that it will take about 30min to cook. This was our first time having Chicago deep dish style pizza in so long. We've always heard such rave reviews about Zachary's. The parking in the back is plenty and close to the restaurant. This was my first visit at this location. These days when we order a pizza here, I mostly eat one slice in a sitting. These are thick. It's like a pizza casserole if you're familiar with Chicago style pizza. We also ordered some wings here as well that were good. When we went to go pick up the order, parking was easy of find in the downtown Pleasanton area or the lot behind. The space is pretty large with a dining area and a bar area where a game was on the television at the time. While waiting for the food, my brother and I got a couple of beers. This is an amazing place! Came here for a farewell lunch for 30 people recently and everyone raved about the food and experience. The stuffed pizzas were delicious, we ordered 5 large ones for us to share and it was just enough for all of us as we were mostly small eaters. Asked the kitchen to cut them into 12s so everyone could taste as many different types as possible. We also ordered 4 entree salads and 3 roasted cauliflowers, all excellent. I called the day before and the manager specifically made sure that he shifted workers around to cater to us. They set up the middle room for us and it was just perfect, cozy and intimate. We also preordered the food ahead of time so they could get ready when we arrived. We still ended up waiting a little but it would've been a longer wait if we hadn't ordered ahead. Shout out to our waiter Lucy, who took care of all of us beautifully. As for which pizza was our favorite, many of us said it was the spinach and mushroom, but some of us also loved the chicken and artichoke stuffed pizza that we special ordered. I loved the experience so much that I came back to take out a half baked pizza for a friend in Napa over the weekend. Way back when I was visiting the area regularly, i took a enjoyable hike elsewhere in the East Bay. Afterward we were really hungry and decided that the best way to rectify the problem was to head to Zachary's for some of their exceptional pizza :-) Years ago, I paid my 1st visit to Zachary's (at a different location); ever since, the quality of their pies has been ballooning in my memory. I found myself wanting to return there for a 2nd visit, and found it wasn't at all difficult to convince my friend to join me. When we arrived at Zachary's, the sights and smells of their pizza reminded me in the best way possible that we were about to enjoy a Chicago-style pie like virtually no other in NorCal. The crust is almost like a pie crust that's stuffed (rather than topped) with the toppings you choose. The crust's quality is exceptional, and it's cooked to perfection. The sauce takes things to an even higher level, with the pizza bursting into a taste explosion of well-seasoned deliciousness. Tip: While the quality of the food here is through the roof, the prices unfortunately are not for the faint of heart. We really enjoyed this place! It was abit confusing to get to the main door at first, we had to walk down the alley. There was no entrace from the main street. Once inside we were greeted warmly and quickly seated. The staff was friendly for a busy day. The art on the walls were really cool and lending itself to laid back atompshere. There is outdoor seating and ample indoor seating too. We decided to order the pepperoni deep dish. We were not disappointed. It takes about 35 mins to come out, but that was to be expected. A friend recommended this place, and it was my first time trying Chicago-style pizza. The crust is super thick, with cheese in the middle and sauce on top--it's very saucy and filling, so even one slice was enough. Going into my first visit to Zachary's, I'd always heard nothing but great things--which had me ready to channel my inner Plankton and uncover their so-called secret formula. This was also my first time ever trying deep-dish pizza, so expectations were definitely high. If you're planning to order a pizza here, be prepared to wait. And I mean wait. SpongeBob's "12 hours later" felt extremely accurate. Unfortunately, the pizza itself didn't quite live up to the hype for me. I found the deep dish to be overwhelmed by sauce, with a red sauce that leaned heavily acidic and overpowered the rest of the flavors. I'm extremely disappointed with the treatment I received today. I came in with my trained service dog, and instead of being welcomed like any other customer, I was met with disrespect and discrimination from an employee named Andrew. From the moment we arrived, Andrew told me that my service dog "couldn't sit on my lap," which was already confusing and unnecessary the dog never touched the table, but then he went even further and asked me why I even have a service dog and that he wouldn't bring my pizza out until he was on the floor, I even went as far as saying "I'll put the dog away once you bring the pizza and told me he would not bring the pizza until he was away. This is not only rude, it is illegal to ask. His tone, attitude, and overall behavior made me feel emotionally attacked, embarrassed, and singled out for no reason. Instead of understanding or following the law, he made it clear that they are not animal-friendly, and insisted that I leave or take my dog "somewhere else," even though service dogs are fully allowed in public businesses. The way he spoke to me made me feel like I was being kicked out for having a disability accommodation. Absolutely unacceptable. No customer should ever be treated this way, especially someone with a service animal. This experience was hurtful, discriminatory, and showed a complete lack of training and compassion. First, after we were seated, no one brought us any utensils. About 15 minutes later, our food started arriving, yet we were still sitting there without plates or utensils. When we said yes, but only for take-out, she immediately interrupted and said, "Then you should know how long it takes." The tone and attitude were quite rude and unprofessional. Recently I came here to dine in and ordered the thin crust Zachary's Special. The thin crust was good! I liked it. Service was good. We were asked a couple of times if everything was okay. Don't really remember what it tasted like, but could imagine that it tasted really good based on what it look like. Perhaps, I have never tried it before! Deep dishes pizzas usually take at least 25 minutes to make, but it's understandable due to how thick the pizza is. We ordered the Zachary Special pizza and a spring salad. To start the salad dressing didn't have much flavor at all, but it seemed pretty fresh. The kicker was the pizza, it wasn't good at all. The sauce had no flavor, the veggies made it very watery, and the crust tasted stale. I believe the way they cook the pizza with the veggies going on the pizza first then the cheese, it makes the veggies very watery once they bake it. Very, very disappointed. The one saving grace was the service! The services was top notch! The young lady who was our waitress, I didn't catch her name, she just had a birthday (turned 19) she wore glasses, she's very petite, and I believe her name started with a "Z". She was fantastic! We stopped by Friday evening because I was craving pizza and didn't want to eat our regular Costco pizza. Ipon some research, we found Zachary's and am so glad we decided here. When parking here, there is a dedicated parking plaza dedicated to Zachary's customers only but it seems like everyone visiting the downtown Pleasanton area parks here anyways. So there isn't much parking at this location for that reason. They do have about 6 spots for 15 mins only for take out. Upon arrival, we were granted a seat and ordered immediately. You can order before hand so the pizza can arrive as you get seated! We didn't do that and sat for 40 mins enjoying drinks which wasn't a problem for us. We ordered the large stuffed Zachary's pizza and a small stuffed island special. The Zachary's pizza was amazing. Very tomato-y and cheesey too. The island special was so good too. It was filled with pineapple, Canadian bacon, and pepper jack cheese. After maybe 2 slices, my gf and I were so full and took everything else to go. All in all, I really enjoyed my time at Zachary's. Not really sure what I was expecting here, but it didn't blow me away. I ordered their "Carne" personal deep dish pizza lunch special, which is a 6" pie only served during weekday lunch hours. It cost $12.10 before tax. The "dish" wasn't very "deep," meaning the cheese layer was pretty thin, and the ratio of dough-to-cheese was much more skewed towards the former. The biggest disappointment for me, though, was in the sauce, which didn't taste fresh, and was lacking in seasoning. Also, for the "Carne," it's advertised as including pepperoni, sausage, and bacon, but you only get little bitty scraps of each, and I would have preferred more of these. I guess for $12 I shouldn't be too upset, but I certainly wouldn't spend $30+ on their normal-sized pies for similar quality. I also "upgraded" the lunch to add a Caesar salad and drink (+$5.50), which I thought was steep for add-on. My waiter didn't inform me that it was $5.50 extra, which is significant considering that's ~half the cost of the pizza. All that said, I don't think I'll return to Zachary's.
