Having a beer in the bar area
    Brian V.

4+ The Pleasanton location of the regional chain of Chicago style pizzas. Having roots and living in the East Bay for a long time. I've been to a few of their locations now. This was my first visit at this location. These days when we order a pizza here, I mostly eat one slice in a sitting. These are thick. It's like a pizza casserole if you're familiar with Chicago style pizza. We also ordered some wings here as well that were good. When we went to go pick up the order, parking was easy of find in the downtown Pleasanton area or the lot behind. The space is pretty large with a dining area and a bar area where a game was on the television at the time. While waiting for the food, my brother and I got a couple of beers. The people here friendly in this place, definitely has that communal vibe that you find in neighborhood spots. Just a great spot, especially if you're craving that dense Chicago style pizza.

First had Zachary's in college, and now I crave it all the time. The Pleasanton location is the one closest to me, and whenever I'm in the area, I stop in for a stuffed half signature spinach mushroom, and half Zachary's classic. Service is always friendly and efficient. Plenty of clean, comfortable indoor and some outdoor seating to enjoy your pizza there, but I always take mine to go.

Stuffed large half baked - half spinach mushroom and half chicken artichokes -- both our favorites!

This is an amazing place! Came here for a farewell lunch for 30 people recently and everyone raved about the food and experience. The stuffed pizzas were delicious, we ordered 5 large ones for us to share and it was just enough for all of us as we were mostly small eaters. Asked the kitchen to cut them into 12s so everyone could taste as many different types as possible. We also ordered 4 entree salads and 3 roasted cauliflowers, all excellent. I called the day before and the manager specifically made sure that he shifted workers around to cater to us. They set up the middle room for us and it was just perfect, cozy and intimate. We also preordered the food ahead of time so they could get ready when we arrived. We still ended up waiting a little but it would've been a longer wait if we hadn't ordered ahead. Shout out to our waiter Lucy, who took care of all of us beautifully. As for which pizza was our favorite, many of us said it was the spinach and mushroom, but some of us also loved the chicken and artichoke stuffed pizza that we special ordered. I loved the experience so much that I came back to take out a half baked pizza for a friend in Napa over the weekend. Ordered it half spinach mushroom and half chicken artichoke, and that's the one that I took a picture of. Everything tasted so fresh I didn't even react to the cheese when I normally have lactose intolerance.

One of my favorite pizza spots to come to! Not only are their pizzas the best, but their customer service is flawless! Always friendly, prompt, and so welcoming. The restaurant itself is clean and the bathrooms are clean (super important). I enjoy sitting outside on a sunny day to enjoy my pizza and people watch!

Really good gluten free pizza! Top 5 gluten free pizzas I've had, the toppings on the rustic italian pizza perfectly complement each other. The arugula salad is light and refreshing. Fun restaurant full of character and great food!

Way back when I was visiting the area regularly, i took a enjoyable hike elsewhere in the East Bay. Afterward we were really hungry and decided that the best way to rectify the problem was to head to Zachary's for some of their exceptional pizza :-) Years ago, I paid my 1st visit to Zachary's (at a different location); ever since, the quality of their pies has been ballooning in my memory. I found myself wanting to return there for a 2nd visit, and found it wasn't at all difficult to convince my friend to join me. Long story short - I was delighted to discover that the pizza at Zachary's was every bit as good as I remembered - maybe even better! When we arrived at Zachary's, the sights and smells of their pizza reminded me in the best way possible that we were about to enjoy a Chicago-style pie like virtually no other in NorCal. The crust is almost like a pie crust that's stuffed (rather than topped) with the toppings you choose. The crust's quality is exceptional, and it's cooked to perfection. The sauce takes things to an even higher level, with the pizza bursting into a taste explosion of well-seasoned deliciousness. Tip: While the quality of the food here is through the roof, the prices unfortunately are not for the faint of heart. That said, you'll find the pizza so filling that you don't need to worry about the prices - even the hungriest guest will find that after one or two slices they are totally full :-) That afternoon we opted for a medium stuffed-crust pie with fresh garlic, sausage, pepperoni, and mushrooms. It was served about 40 minutes after we placed our order, and the overall taste profile was superb - a beautifully balanced symphony of tastes and textures. I totally recommend Zachary's to anyone who finds themselves craving some exceptional Chicago-style pizza. I look forward to returning the next time I'm in the neighborhood.

We really enjoyed this place! It was abit confusing to get to the main door at first, we had to walk down the alley. There was no entrace from the main street. Once inside we were greeted warmly and quickly seated. The staff was friendly for a busy day. The art on the walls were really cool and lending itself to laid back atompshere. There is outdoor seating and ample indoor seating too. We decided to order the pepperoni deep dish. We were not disappointed. It takes about 35 mins to come out, but that was to be expected. Definitely recommend you call in your order before showing up, unless you want to take advantage with their happy hour. They have some decent wine and beer selections too. The pizza came out piping hot and the crust was crispy despite all the toppings weighing it down.

Pizza on a lazy Saturday afternoon? Always a yes. Deep Dish Chicago Pepperoni? Even better. 20 minutes after, we were at Zachary's, seated in a cozy corner of the outdoor dining area. Only a few guests were outside, service was steady, and we settled in for the wait - which turned out to be on the longer side. All good, it gave us a good stretch of time to chat and catch up, so no complaints there. When our pepperoni and artichoke deep-dish finally arrived, I was famished - late lunch turning into early dinner will do that. But even with hunger, I only managed a few bites. The pizza tasted sour, which threw the whole experience off. The best part was actually the crust, which had great texture and flavor, but everything else felt a bit mismatched. The restaurant itself was clean, and it carried that typical Pleasanton ambience - comfortable, family-friendly, predictable in a good way. A decent stop for deep-dish lovers, but this particular pizza just didn't hit the mark for me.

We went to the downtown Pleasanton location and were seated in the back immediately ambience is lively restaurant was crowded. There is a full bar here at this location. We ordered a stuffed mushroom onion, olive jalapeño pepperoni with extra cheese. It was delicious. I also had a glass or two of Cabernet interesting thing that I noticed we had more than half of the pizza to go home. The waitress bought us boxes to box her own to go when all other tables, the waitress box there's

    * Always order ahead for Zacharys special as it's the best! - lots of indoor & outdoor seating available. -limited street parking Friend was visiting from Hawaii & wanted Zacharys since they don't have one there. Ordered a deep dish for pick up & arrived about 30 minutes to closing. Weekday night. We were starving & asked if ok to eat a slice here before leaving as we had about an hours drive back home. Zach's Crew was nice enough to let us eat there & gave cutlery and plates. I Felt bad as they were in closing phase for the night, refilling condiments & tidying up dining areas. We felt a bit awkward so we hurriedly ate and left. Would like to visit again & at an earlier time

A friend recommended this place, and it was my first time trying Chicago-style pizza. The crust is super thick, with cheese in the middle and sauce on top--it's very saucy and filling, so even one slice was enough. Personally, I found the sauce a bit too salty for my taste, and I wasn't a big fan of the overall texture. However, the Caesar salad and the baked BBQ chicken wings were excellent. One thing that stood out (not necessarily in a good way): the manager told us they accidentally dropped one chicken wing. Since the wings are $16.50 for 9 pieces, they gave us a $1 discount instead of replacing the wing... Honestly, I just wanted my wing back! That said, I appreciated their honesty. The service was a bit inconsistent--some staff were friendly, others seemed uninterested. Since the pizzas are freshly made, we had to wait over 30 minutes for our food, which we understood. There were six of us in total. My son and I both had stomach issues during the meal--I had to run to the restroom three times! No one else got sick, so I'm not sure what caused it. On the plus side, the environment was quite nice--clean, comfortable, and good for groups. Overall, some hits and some misses.

Used to make the haul to Berkeley on Solano Ave. just to get my Zachary's deep dish carne fix, initially in the 90s. So when Pleasanton got its own Zachary's back 2021, I finally made the time to check it out. The crust was buttery and crisp. The filling of Italian sausage, pepperoni, salami, chopped bacon and mozzarella hit me like a familiar warm hug.  Same rich, cheesy, meat-loaded masterpiece as I remembered.  Cozy vibe, friendly crew, and easier parking than Berkeley. Also, they have 6 or 8 designated take out parking spots in the rear parking lot. 15 min max. And if you're into fresh air and people-watching, they've got a little al fresco section right out front facing Main St.

You don't find Chicago style pizza just anywhere. While on a work trip one of our coworkers recommended this spot. With no reservation, they were able to accommodate our party of 11. I like to have my pizza with a fresh draft beer. I had their draft Allagash beer which was the right choice for me. I wanted to try all of their pizzaz. I ended up goin for the small stuffed Zachary's Special. This was rich and fresh in flavors, super cheesy (check out the cheese pull video) but I could've done without the green bell peppers. My peers ordered a variety from stuffed Carne to thin bbq chicken and salads. It was a Friday night so I understand it was a busy night, drink service was a bit delayed but not horrible overall.

What’s the difference between stuffed pizza and deep dish pizza? I keep hearing those words interchangeably used with Zacharys and Chicagos Pizzeria uno? Also, is tomato sauce the only sauce for their pizza?

Good question! Although stuffed and deep-dish pizzas are similar, there are key differences. The main one being that stuffed pizzas have a second, thin layer of dough separating the ingredients and sauce, while deep-dish pizzas do not. In a stuffed… Read more

Their food selection and quality is also amazing and goes FAR beyond typical bar food. I noticed that they had lots of different options for food, which I liked. We saw they had a charcuterie board on the menu and had to order. It came with 3 different cheeses, walnuts, and honey. I wish it had came with more crackers and jam but it was a great pairing with our drinks while chatting. 9/10 Next we snacked on the Bavarian-style soft pretzel, which was huge. It came with their homemade sweet red ale mustard, which was tangy, but also sweet the perfect pairing. We also got the Southwest Veggie Queso and chips, which tasted like a mix between bean dip and nacho cheese-- a10/10, I was surprised by how good it was. We also tried the summer salad, which had mainly arugula, corn, cheese, and avocado. It was like street corn but in salad form with a light dressing --9/10. Lastly, we got the Margherita flatbread, this was small but amazing. I didn't get to take a picture because it was so good it gone within minutes Super cheesy too, though a bit pricey for its size.

One of the patrons tipped $20 and sang three songs in a row. In comparison, I got one song in in the span of three hours. I kind of expected the place to start clearing out after midnight but ppl stuck around and seemed to be having a good time. If you're not into rock n' roll/metal karaoke, they also have pool, shuffleboard, and darts. I do like the KJ and the patrons here, though in the future, I'll just set the expectation that I'll get one song in and set a curfew for myself.
