    Salami Mushroom 16" Pizza

We were looking for some kid friendly pizza and came across this place. Their service was great and they had plenty of space for our kids. The ambiance was more like an older pizza parlor which was fun. The serving sizes were great for our party of 9. The food itself was not my favorite, felt like the pizza was pretty salty. But overall it was a good experience.

If you're looking for good home town style pizza, this is the joint for you. I've been coming to Gay Nineties pizza for almost two decades and they never disappoint. The staff is always friendly and attentive. The interior is very old school with a tribute to Pleasanton back in the day. They offer indoor seating in two rooms plus a lovely outdoor patio section. The pizza has never been less than delicious here. I swear it has the same signature taste as it did when I came here in middle school. This is my absolute favorite pizza joint hands down.

Love the pizza and lasagna. My rigatoni was ok barely any noodles a lot of sauce. Garlic bread was very hard to eat. The server we got first was excellent. He waited on us fast. He left and nobody introduced themselves. We had one person wait on us one time. Took for ever to get our dessert and bill. Bunch of young servers standing around. It was Friday May 22nd before the dinner rush. Got thete at 3pm. The pizza is still top notch my favorite. I moved so I can't go often but 4 stars just because the pizza and lasagna are always top notch. Service could use work.

I took a bite and went, "wow". Let's just say I was impressed by this place. I brought some friends from out of town here on a Monday night. There were plenty of seats and the wait for the pizza wasn't noticeably long. Being the typical nice summer/autumn Pleasanton weather it was, we sat outside and got to admire the outside art. We ordered one of the pesto pizzas and a red sauce (I'm sorry I can't remember the name). Either way, the cheese was perfect. You know when you pull the slice away from the main circle and it's holding on like a clingy ex? It's like that but simply stretches and doesn't take the rest of the toppings along with a piece of your innocence with it. Anyway, amazing flavor, amazing cheese, amazing name; I will be returning.

The staff was nice but the food was just bland. We got the lasagna and a pizza. I wanted to like it so bad but it just wasn't there.

We've been coming to this restaurant many times over the years although it has probably been about 5 years since our last visit. We had a fantastic server today who really took good care of us. Her name was Julie. She was great. Our pizza was a medium 1/2 Veggie and 1/2 Hawaiian. The crust was cooked to perfection but we thought overall the pizza was lacking real flavor. Maybe our taste has changed over the years since we have are big fans of Tony's in SF (or his newer Slice House Establishments) or Gold Dust Pizza in Ripon. I still think this place is a nice restaurant if you are looking for a well made pizza and you're in the Downtown Pleasanton area. We will go back if we are in the area and want pizza.

Date with the Mr. after a drs appointment. We wanted patxi but they're now closed. This was what I really wanted. Started with the cheese curds, crispy on the outside, melted gooey cheese on the inside, comes with ranch and marinara sauce. Button mushrooms cooked in butter, wine and garlic. The wine was a bit heavy but still very enjoyable. The PIZZA!!! My fave part of the meal. I'm a combo kind of girl, so I gotta have everything on my pizza. Every piece of meat and veggie stood alone in flavor. It didn't feel like mush. I was able to taste the sausage seasonings while getting the crunch of the bell peppers. Our waitress was super nice and kept our drinks filled consistently. Can't wait to go back!

Do they offer a personal pizza and salad lunch special?

Yes. Buy a baby pizza and get the choice of soup or salad for lunch Monday through Friday.

Has someone had their Jambalaya, how is it? And can someone upload a photo of it to Yelp? Thanks!!!

Do they sell by the slice? Thank you

Specifically, what are the vegan options here?

As far as I know there is no Vegan. Lots of meat

What's with the name of this place?

It recalls the time of the 1890s and the sentiment of that era.

Do they have gluten free pizza and a thin crust?

    Yes!

Is this really deep dish pizza or just thick crust?

They do have a thick crust, it's not "Chicago Style" by any stretch of the imagination, but is tasty.

The food is good, the beer selection as awesome and the atmosphere is super casual and fun. It can get a little noisy at times, but there's plenty of outdoor seating for more quiet. What I like best about it is that it really feels like you're going to a place that treats its employees and its customers like family. I'm not a big reviewer, but I felt compelled to share my last experience with Porky's. After ordering, I stopped by the ladies room before going to get a beer. One of the stalls was out of toilet paper and all I could think about was that Seinfeld episode. Wanting to help someone avoid an embarrassing situation, I went to the counter to let them know. The person I tried to tell was kind of rude and waved me off. It was really weird because every other interaction I've ever had with employees there is best described as hospitality instead of just service. I was going to shrug it off. Everyone has off nights, but it was just so out of character for this place I felt I had to say something. I submitted an online comment via their website and figured that was that. Two days later, I got a phone call from Patsy. She was appreciative that I brought it up, asked for more details and promised a follow up. A few days after that, I got a very nice handwritten card from her letting me know they had worked with the employee, who was sorry and was just having an off day. My own mother doesn't send me handwritten cards anymore. I was never going to write the place off after a single incident, but this kind of care for people means I will always keep this place in rotation when the "what do you want for dinner?" Question comes up.
