I said I wouldn't come back because my first experience wasn't very good, but I'm glad I gave them a second chance. We were greeted when we walked in the door and taken to our table immediately. The server came very shortly after and brought us sparkling water, on request. I can't remember the names of what we ordered, but we had the goat cheese and tomato that was warm, served with pistachios and olives. I believe this was the number one food of the evening and it was delicious! We also had the Zafron salad with the warm goat cheese and it was also delicious. The Smokey eggplant appetizer was made perfectly and the portion was larger than expected. My wife had a vegetarian dish, which was like a stew, and said she loved it. The chicken kabob that my daughter had looked great and I had the tenderloin for my entree which I thought was ok. For dessert we had the tiramisu and the chocolate cake. The tiramisu was only okay, but the chocolate cake was absolutely delicious. Overall, our food, especially the appetizers, was excellent. The service provided by Brandon was also excellent. This evening was completely different than my first visit 2 years ago. I'll be back!

Another great Persian restaurant find. This time was Zafron, located conveniently close to the Sandy Springs PAC. One huge plus- free parking out front! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The inside was a calm vibe with good, but soft, music.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Once we ordered, our service was speedy. We split the hummus appetizer which comes with warm pita and I had the shish kabob that is resting on pita and comes with rice. All were flavorful. I look forward to returning to try more of the menu.

Normally, I'm here for lunch. Decided to try dinner on my way back from being in hectic ATL . Nice quiet place to come to relax after a hectic drive like that! It is always good not to over price maybe one or two dollars over what I would expect, but has been consistently tasty! I ordered them for like a box this time instead of the lamb but definitely wanted the lentil Dash raisin rice, my favorite! Always asked for the special Mediterranean system called sumac It had to additional layer of flavoring. They will bring it to you in a special wooden box and you dish out. Whatever you need. I usually need at least Two per bite! I really like this mediterranean seasoning it adds additional layer of flavor to everything I added, too!

Our group of four enjoyed Zafron Restaurant. This is a good, more casual and slightly more affordable alternative to popular Rumi's Kitchen, which is just a few blocks south on Roswell Road. Zafron serves Persian food. We heard good things about it, so we decided to check it out and left pleased. Zafron is located in a freestanding building across the street from Sandy Springs City Hall. It was previously known as Flavor Restaurant and years before that, Flavor Cafe Bakery. Flavor completed its rebrand as Zafron in March 2015. The restaurant has its own free dedicated parking lot. There are a couple other small businesses on-site, but the lot is mainly for Zafron customers. We visited for lunch on a Monday. The restaurant was busy, but not slammed. I got the feeling that a lot of locals like this place. I booked our group's reservations using OpenTable, which I like because of the dining points I can accumulate to redeem for restaurant discounts and Amazon gift cards. Resy and other booking platforms don't offer rewards for dining out. Inside, the dining room had nice, but not lavish, decor from floor to ceiling. We sat at one of several curved booths that ran down the center of the space. There were multiple seating areas including a fully-enclosed patio in the front and a semi-private large group table, next to some wine racks, in the back. This place appears equipped to handle big parties. There was also a bar, pastry display, and a small outdoor patio. The lunch menu, which is available weekdays only, had a good selection of dishes to choose from. They included several of the dinner and weekend staples like Lamb Kabob ($25 lunch, $32 dinner) and Zafron (Barg) Chicken ($14 lunch, $26 dinner). Exclusive to the lunch menu are the wraps ($12 each), where you can order a small variety of Zafron's meats in a wrap with veggies. That said, I think you can order off the dinner menu during a weekday lunch if you want. That's what I did because I wanted to try both the Tenderloin (Barg) Kabob ($20 lunch) and the Koobideh Kabob ($15 lunch). Our server told me I could get both if I ordered "Soltan's Feast," which is only available on the dinner menu. I actually got a lunch price for Soltan's Feast, $25 vs $35. I presume Zafron's portions are smaller at weekday lunch. Here's what we got: Starters * Mirza Ghasemi ($8) - smoky eggplant, tomato, onion, garlic, extra virgin olive oil * Muhammara (Hummus) ($6) - red bell pepper, garlic, cumin, walnut, extra virgin olive oil Entrees * Khoreshe Badenjoon ($12) - eggplant and tomato beef stew, subbed a veggie kabob for basmati rice (+$5) Feast * Chenjeh ($20) - prime sirloin kabob served with braised green beans in a tomato sauce mixed with basmati rice * Fire Roasted Salmon ($15) - marinated fresh salmon served on a bed of "zafron," fava beans, and dill rice * Soltan's Feast ($25) - combination of one Koobideh kabob (ground brisket) and one Tenderloin (Barg) charbroiled filet mignon kabob with smoked tomato and "zafron" basmati rice Everything that I tried was good. Our meal came with complimentary pita bread, fresh raw vegetables, feta cheese, and walnuts. The veggies included slices of radish, cucumber, and tomato, plus herbs like basil, mint, and tarragon. These were nice to munch on with our meal. All of the dishes were presented beautifully. Both of the starters were tasty. The Mirza Ghasemi was served in a cast-iron pan. The garlic was fried crisp. Both the Mirza Ghasemi and the Muhammara had nice texture and flavor. The Muhammara wasn't the best I've had, but it was still good. The Chenjeh and Soltan's Feast were yummy. The sirloin (Chenjeh) was a little too salty, but otherwise fine. My favorite was the Koobideh (ground brisket) Kabob. The meat was tender, moist, and flavorful. Really savory. In contrast, the Tenderloin (Barg) Kabob was somewhat dry. It tasted much better with a sauce. The Chenjeh came with a white sauce. I think it was a yogurt sauce, like tzatziki, but my wife doesn't think so (she's better at identifying foods/ingredients than me). Our table was also given a side of tangy sumac powder/spice. The various rice dishes that accompanied the meat and fish were appetizing and satisfying. I liked them a lot. The veggie kabob that we had subbed in for one of the rice sides was big, hearty, and impressive. It came stacked tall with charbroiled eggplant, squash, zucchini, mushroom, red bell pepper, and white onion. Unlike the meat kabobs, the veggie kabob was actually served on a thick metal skewer. The meat kabobs were served off-skewer (normal). Service was on point. Jannifer was our server and she was great. She was very nice and attentive. The other staff we interacted with (hostess, other server) were polite. Despite a busy weekday lunch service, our entire order came out in a reasonable amount of time. I would return. The business name "Zafron" is a play on saffron, the spice widely used in Persian cuisine.

Looking for a close Persian option , we found this Santa Barbra styled Persian restaurant. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Casual styling and friendly staff.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] 1) [[HIGHLIGHT]]The silverware was a bit challenging with its style over function.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] 2) the koubideh was dry and burnt. 3) the bargh kabob was of a strange non Persian spiced flavor. 4). Grilled tomatoes were not ripe and still firm and flavorless. We wanted to really like this place, but it just wasn't meant to be based on our experience.

This place is a joke. Basically they have tried to rip everything off from Rumi's Kitchen a block down the street- from their decor to their website. In reality, they have no idea how to run a restaurant. The food is bland and tasteless, the service is HORRIBLE- and that's IF you can get them to even come to your table. I'd recommend not wasting your time or money here. read more

A large party of which I was a part visited, most of us for the first time. The decor is attractive and upscale - this is definitely an adult restaurant (i.e., no kids, even at lunchtime). We received flatbread with herbs, radish, walnuts, cheese & tomato on the house. In our party, we had fish, lamb, and veggie dishes. All of the food was tasty and nicely plated. However, one member of our party's order was wrong, and instead of apologizing and bringing the correct order, the staff argued at length. Also, the staff ran a credit card through improperly, and called later to re-run the card. They didn't offer apologies, a dessert, a discount for a future visit (normal things one would expect when the staff messes up). So, even though the food is quite good, due to the ridiculous staff/management behavior, and the multitudes of competing Persian restaurants in the area, I will not be back. read more

This place is the worst experience of any restaurant. We arrived on time for our 7PM reservation to celebrate Mother's Day. Our server was less than attentive. We had to request napkins and bread for our party of 7. We immediately ordered appetizers (they weren't great and the bread was flavorless) We then ordered our meals. After waiting over 45 minutes we were getting antsy and asked how much longer until our food would be out. At this point it was 8:30 PM. The server advised it would be out shortly. A few minutes later, he said the printer got jammed so our order was never processed. So they would begin cooking it at that point. Huh?! He offered us a free appetizer. We were shocked that was all they were willing to do after we had been waiting so long. We requested to see the manager. The owner never came over to even apologize and refused to do anything for us. We will never return again. This place is a disgrace. Poor food, poor customer service. They can learn a lot from Rumi's. read more

We used to live less than a mile from Flavor... and we were loyal to another breakfast place nearby... but occasionally stopped here for a bite. Since we've moved, they've redesigned the restaurant. While the color scheme is nice, the experience we had was AWFUL. Waitress brought me something different than ordered (my husband's order was correct). The wait staff rarely checked on us and we had to ask for a coffee top-off. When I go for breakfast to a neighborhood place, I enjoy the charm of hot coffee constantly being poured and dishes clanking and steamy cooking sounds coming from the kitchen. When the restaurant had the ordering line with the bakery goods sitting out for that extra touch of temptation and the coffee was help-yourself we enjoyed it much more! Will not return. read more

Had lunch for first time with nine friends. It had been recommended by a neighbor but we were hesitant after reading reviews. We had a mixture of salads and sandwiches. Everyone was pleasantly surprised. Good and friendly service. Salads were delicious and very fresh tasting. Sandwiches were very flavorful. We will definitely be returning! read more

We had a great dinner at zafron. The koubideh kabob with the green chili chutney was fantastic. The shrimp kabob was great, monster shrimp. The rice was excellent. Got veggie kabob instead of rice, was really great too. Desert of flourless chocolate cake and chocolate bomb was unbelievable. Great place read more

We really enjoyed our lunch at flavor today. The kufteh (Persian style meatballs in tomato sauce) Was very tasty. The bread is fresh right out of the oven. We had the lamb kebab and koobideh (Ground beef kebab). The lentil and raisin rice showed this restaurant's Attention to detail With fried onions slivers on top of it. We will be going back to try other items on their menu. read more

Dinner was very good along with the service. We had the table in the corner for 12, so it was semi-private and could have a conversation. The Lamb Kabab was perfectly prepared and very tender. The Fire Roast Salmon was also perfectly prepared. Would definitely recommend. read more

My boyfriend and I had a to go order from this place. We tried the chicken kabob and the Chenjeh and I have to too say I was pleasantly surprised. The food was fresh and delicious and priced below some of the other Persian restaurants down the street. We peeked inside and it looked like a clean and intimate setting. The food is decent, I have had the shishkabobs, dill fava bean basmati lamb shank, Sultans feast with barg and ground beef. Atmosphere is ok, but the place is seriously overpriced .Count on roughly $60.00 just for 2 people with no apps, no drinks, and not including tip. Portions are also kind of skimpy. One skewer only for the Shishkabob and rice. Nothing stands out on the menu, and at this price point, Rumis kitchen is definitely a level up in taste, quality, atmosphere, service and portion size. read more

I just love it! I am just new to GA, and have been to Persian food a lot in Bay Area CA. I was actually planing today to another popular Persian restaurant which is just half miles away. I was interested in going to dinner with a friend to Rumi's kitchen, however, said friend, talked me into trying out Zafron instead. Not being a 'Persian Food connoisseur', I complied. Zafron was less crowded, not as loud, and not as busy as Rumi's, and had a nice ambience to it. The meal was good, not outstanding, but good. We ordered hummus for an appy, and it was delicious, and we both ordered the filet kabob for our meal. My steak was a little dry, and a little tough, but had a good flavor. Waitstaff was attentive and friendly. I will be returning, and will likely try the chicken or shrimp on my next visit! read more

Finally, a quiet, fabulous and luscious neighborhood gem of a restaurant. The menu offers a variety of delicious options. Their wait staff is beyond expectations. In particular, Jason, is professional, knowledgeable, friendly, and has a delightful sense of humor. Jason's goal must be to ensure a positive memorable dining experience, since he goes out of his way to please each and every guest. I went to the newly renovated Flavor Restaurant and Bar (used to be known as Flavor Cafe) for my birthday last week, and was NOT disappointed. Their new Persian cuisine was more than worth the visit - I tried the Soltan Feast and was delighted with the all grass-fed beef - not to mention the beautiful birthday treat that the owner brought me at the end! Service was excellent and I highly recommend this place for parties and/or events. read more

The desserts are the best. They make the cookies from scratch homemade and they are scrumptious. My entire family loves them and all of my grandkids get so excited when I tell them that I have cookies from Zafron. It is definitely a treat and worth the drive to get. read more

Been here often and always enjoyed goo food and great service. I love the lamb kabobs and had many of the other dishes and have never been disappointed. Their portions a filling and the appetizer of feta, pita, olives, fresh herbs, walnuts, tomato, turnips is great and included in every meal! I dine here every chance I get! read more

I just want to point out the bill had a notice that says "tips are based on check prices after taxes" was confusing and unsure why would company charge tips on top of taxes. Our waiter was amazing so we didn't mind paying the extra but it really made us wonder about the company policy.

Very good food. The decoration and serving plates look identical to the old Rumi's, the serving proportion is smaller comparing what Rumi's has, but the price reflects that, they cost less. I had Salmon for lunch, which was better cooked than the one I had in Rumi's. The portion was plentiful, I didn't even finish all the rices in my dish. read more
