I just had the most pleasant, fresh, and delicious Mediterranean dining experience at Zait Bistro in Rancho Cucamonga (7251 Haven Avenue). Ms. Nancy took my order which consisted of a Lamb sandwich with a side of fries. The flavorful Lamb was infused with Mediterranean herbs, spices, vegetables and wrapped in a warm pita. The fries were served hot and were fluffy on the inside with a crisp exterior. I needed to pickup a quick meal due to my limited time, and received my order in a timely manner. I will be back to indulge in other menu items sooner than later! read more

Zair bistro is my go to Mediterranean spot in all of Rancho. I've moved here from upland and hands down new fav spot. Been coming here for a few months now and the quality is just amazing. Def a must try if you are in the area and craving that true Mediterranean taste. read more

When Zait first opened they were great! We brought my Lebanese MIL and she loved it too. Unfortunately, our last few visits have been disappointing. I always order the Kafta wrap in shrak bread but they are so small now even though I'm paying more than just a pita. The kafta is kind of bland and the texture is different now too. Their hummus and rice are still delicious but the tabbouleh and tehina salad again, were just meh. I really loved this place so I hope they can make adjustments and get back to where they were before. read more

I really wanted to rate this place lower since my wait was so long but, damn!!!, their food was excellent. The guy at the counter was cold to deal with and waited until my order, placed on a normal weekday at noon, was already paid for. He said 25 minutes but it was ready in a little less time. I was thankful they had some clean tables outside and my meal was wonderful. Fresh pita, delicious hummus, good cucumber salad and my beef and lamb shawarma combo plate was simply yummy. Zait Bistro is probably the best spot for Mediterranean Food in the area. I got the Chicken Shawarma Plate and Falafels. I got a small plate, but the portion size was huge! I'm a pretty big guy and I eat a lot, but the plate was able to satiate me for two meals. The rice and the chicken were both well-seasoned and really delicious. The yogurt cucumber salad was rich and refreshing. The falafels were crispy and savory. I was pretty blown away by Zait. Last year my family and I came to this restaurant the day after Thanksgiving and were treated horribly. The cook and the cashier went off about how we were idiots for being there the day after Thanksgiving and expressed their absolute anger towards having to be there attending us. It was horrific in every way possible and was extremely disappointing. I made a review about this and revised it as requested by the owners and was asked to please come back and give another chance. Today was that day when I went back.. hesitant but I did because I was in the area and to my surprise I had yet another unpleasant experience. While this time I was not scolded by employees, I was overcharged... $61 for 2 SMALL plates (which should've been $17 each) and the food quality was nothing like I remembered the hummus was old and the meat was hard, tasted very old! Safe to say I will not be giving this place another chance. Try Luna Grill a few streets away. Much better service, food, ambiance, and reasonable pricing. read more

Zait is sooooo good. I come here almost every time I'm in town visiting family. It's fresh, delicious, and fast. I often order online for pick up (head's up: there's a $1.50 charge to order through their website) and it's always on time. I never have eaten inside but there are a few tables for dine-in. Their combo plates are generously sized and portioned, even for the small size. The falafel is crunchy on the outside but soft inside, which pairs amazingly with a side of the garlic sauce. Ok. This is the first restaurant I have seen with the cooks and employees no masks!!! All restaurants employees everywhere wear masks except here at this place. This is NOT COVID friendly. I would never let my family or my grandparents eat at a place like this. Put the masks on!! Came in here today to try this Mediterranean food place my wife went to. Soon as I entered the restaurant we were looking at the menu for a little bit and the one girl said to us she'll be with us in a bit. We finally picked what we wanted and were just standing around for 3 minutes waiting to order. The girl who told us to wait was getting orders together. She finally took our order and she was not friendly at all. Straight up nobody was friendly here at all. Even when we left they did not say one word to us like "bye" or "see you soon". But the food is pretty good. We got the chicken shawarma plate. It's seasoned really well (curry style) and you get lots of chicken. I would definitely get this food again while overlooking the customer service. And I would definitely take It to-go over dinning in like what we did. I was never a Mediterranean food person but this place is very popular and near where I live so I decided to give it a try. Food is fantastic, everything was seasoned perfectly. I finished the whole plate of the steak kebab. Cons is that they didn't prepare my togo 100% correctly, I ordered a side of chopped seasoned onion and I was really looking forward to have it with the meat but they forgot to put it, it's like less than $1, so I' didn't bother to go back even though it's super close. And they gave me the wrong sauce. :( Another thing is I wish they would've wear masks at the kitchen and prep table. Most other places I went during this crazy period all had their employee wearing masks. It's better to be safe than sorry in my opinion. read more

My family was a huge fan of Zait Bistro in Fontana and were heartbroken when that location closed. This was our first time trying Zait in Rancho since then, and we were unfortunately pretty disappointed. We spent over $100 on food and the quality was just alright. Mainly, the beef kababs were very overcooked. We order 2 small beef plates and 1 large beef kabab plate. The Fontana location always provided savory, tender beef chunks... we ordered the meat "medium" and they were "well done". We also ordered shawarma which was good, but didn't make up for the tough, chewy beef bits that our family had to try to salvage. For the price, the quality threw us a curve ball. We probably won't be back. :( read more

Chef Sammy Zait is in the kitchen, using his many years of experience as a chef in Dubai to craft fresh Mediterranean dishes, and Lizzy Zait is busy running the business. Established in 2015.

Zait Bistro is the love child of husband and wife team, Chef Sammy Zait and Lizzy Zait. In the early 2015, homesick for the favorite street food of Beit Jala, they heard of a tiny store front available on quiet Terra Vista Village in Rancho Cucamonga and decided to open their own Mediterranean Grill. Relying on his years of international cooking experience as well as his roots, and her business management and organizational skills Sammy and Lizzy created a menu centered around street food with a gourmet twist. The freshness and quality of the ingredients coupled with Sammy's spin on traditional flavors give new meaning to the concept of convenience food.

I like this place. First time. Food was really really good. The reviews apparently don't lie. Workers could be a bit friendlier, but I guess they get bored and drone as this place isn't that big. I can't blame them. But, make sure to greet your guests! The front lady counter literally walked past me to get a drink, didn't say a word to me, and I thought she was on break. But then nobody came to the back-front and I asked her if they were closed and she rather slowly walked back to take my order. This took 2 1/2 minutes I counted. Retail work is hard and demands a lot of time, but even a little hi and hold on a sec I'm getting a drink would make me feel better. I literally almost left and went next door for some italian food. While waiting I met the owner who had just arrived. The workers work a lot nicer and louder when he's there. Obviously we know why. Nobody does better than the owner. Hopefully food stays this good cause I will be coming back here to get the Lamb Kebab again. It was to die for. Honestly great hummus. It's creamy and very nutty. The greek salad side is wonderful to eat with the meat together. The rice was amazing! Seriously. I don't know what's in it, but it looked like rice and noodle together? Not sure. I'll ask next time. If service improves with an hello welcome! I'll tack on another star, cause frankly, they seem to deserve it simply based on their Mediterranean food. I have been to Greece, Turkey, and Israel. Hands down the best and most authentic Persian food in Rancho!! The mom is awesome she is super helpful and courteous in helping you order what's right for you. Dad is amazing cook and the food is always made to order so I recommend calling it in as that's what he told me. The hummus is the best I've had. Just like grandmas!!! Amazing!! We came to this place for food and I am not familiar with Mediterranean food so there are absolutely no pictures of what the food would look like ... ( like any other restaurant in this country) so did not order anything . In a summary of u are NOT a veteran with Mediterranean food . Stay away . Unless you know the menu by heart . I think it's a very idiotic idea not to put some pics or spend a few dollars and build a menu so people know what the hell they are ordering . I came here a few times and the food was ok. But I have had a lot better tasting food at other Mediterranean places. The customer service was always slow though and the cashiers always looked unhappy. I noticed one time that an older female was talking down to one of the cashiers so I can see why the employees are unhappy when their boss is talking down on them. The reason for the 1 star review is due to the last time I came here. There was a live rat near the front door. I turned around and haven't been back since. read more

Placed an order and told us to wait for 30 mins. No problem we waited outside for 30 mins and came inside to pick up the order. The new girl tells us the last girl forgot to put in the order. She says it will be another 30 mins!! Wow!! When I asked her to refund the money, she didn't know how to do that either!! Anyways the girl who messed the whole thing up comes outside to help this other girl to show how to refund and doesn't even apologize!!! Terrible service and an absolute waste of our time!!! The young lady that took my order prepared a free sample of all of their salads, so that I could choose which ones I wanted with my combo plate. The owner, Sam and his wife are very courteous. Before leaving this review, I called the restaurant because I wanted to give them the opportunity to make it right. At first, I was told they had a new chef. Then I was told it tasted different because it was vegan. When I asked if he was saying the food tasted bad because it was vegan, he initially agreed before quickly backtracking and saying that's not what he meant. He then explained that it tasted different because they had a new chef and were using different ingredients and seasonings. I explained that I've ordered the vegan version multiple times before, so I know how it's was supposed to taste. In fact, this was my fourth time ordering it. The third time I ordered it, the rice had almost no flavor at all... it was basically plain white rice with the vegetables, nuts, and no seasoning. I let that experience go and decided to give them another chance. Unfortunately, this fourth order went in the complete opposite direction. Instead of being under-seasoned, the rice had such an unpleasant taste that I couldn't eat it. This wasn't just "different"... something was clearly off. Unfortunately, the customer service was just as disappointing as the food. No one offered to replace the dish, refund it, or even seemed concerned. I mostly received silence and was told they didn't know what to do. When I said I'd have to leave a review since nothing was being done, the response was simply, "Okay." I'm disappointed because I've supported this restaurant several times and expected much better. Every other item I ordered was good, but the rice was inedible, and the lack of customer service made the experience even worse. If you're a regular customer, especially if you order the vegan options, just be aware that the quality may not be as consistent as it used to be. With the restaurant mentioning they have a new chef, you never know who will be preparing your food or how it's going to taste. Hopefully your experience is better than mine, because I ended up with what I can only describe as "funky armpit" rice.
