The lasagna and chicken tenders were good but my fusilli was very bland and while hubby's chicken souvlaki was okay, the rice was cold and hard. We asked for a side of hot rice, which came piping hot, but as soon as it started to cool down, it too became hard and chewy. Out server was pleasant and it probably wasn't her fault for the appetizers coming out late. We came just before dinner and the restaurant was getting a little noisy by the time we left. A lovely, clean, cosy, friendly restaurant in Leduc, Alberta where we met for a special anniversary dinner for our parents. Claude warmly welcomed us at the door. We were seated immediately at a table for four. My brother is a regular customer here, he has very high standards, so I knew we were in for a treat. Zambelli's was quite busy, but we received outstanding and quality service by Edna our server. The food was brought out in good time and Edna kept us smiling with her good natured mannerism and lighthearted humor. We had wine and our Mom enjoyed a Pina Colada, these refreshments complimented our meal. We shared perogies as a starter, I would have the perogies as a meal sometime. We also shared a serving of Caesar salad which was garlicky, with an appropriate ratio of dressing and croutons. I had spaghetti with meat sauce, the meat sauce was flavorful and spicy. Our Dad, Mom and Brother had the fish special with rice and chips. We shared two slices of cheese cake divided into four. All the portions were huge. There is enough for a second meal the next day. The restaurant is clean, decorated nicely, is spacious with good lighting. The bathroom is also clean. This restaurant has been around for a long time.. and there is a good reason for it.. the food is amazing, especially their pizzas. WOW.. There are a lot of pizza chains out there and this place is simply better than those places. The menu has so many choices , so if you are hungry it makes it a bit harder to decide what to have. I have had their pizzas before and each time its been perfect. Though honestly, there are 30 choices of toppings, which makes it hard to decide. Price wise though... about the same as a chain restaurant but much more worth the money. They also specialize in steaks. Ribeyes, T-Bone and NY Strip . They are perfectly cooked and are a good size portion wise. No matter what you choose though, you will have a great dinner and not spend a fortune.. Any place that has the words steak & pizza is always a winner to me. The portions are large, always filling. We had ordered the pizza for lunch one day at work, about 15 pizzas and they were ready quick and were delicious. The best and only reason to visit this once wonderful restaurant, is the prime rib. Oh how the best in Leduc has fallen !! The pizza is still ok, and the aforementioned, prime rib is great but everything else here, especially the service, is dismal. The menu needs a serious shave, it's too big for the kitchen to prepare properly and it shows in every dish. Only the specials of the night are any good but are seriously overpriced. This is not fine dining but your going pay like it is!! The atmosphere is stuck in 1984 but the service is new millennium all the way, terrible. Came here for dinner one night and as I was walking in the smell of garlic and who knows what else was making me drool! We had 8 people in our party and were seated right away why we waited for the rest of our party to show up. The decor is pretty homey and open. I liked that you didn't seem hidden in a corner or behind a wall. I also enjoyed that open kitchen where you can see whats going on. The waitress was nice and pretty on top of getting drinks when each one of our party showed up. After she took our orders she was good about coming back and checking on our drinks and getting refills. The food was being delivered and everyone had food but me. At first I thought they went back to get it, than no one came. I was hoping they didn't forget to make mine but was still worried it was just sitting up there. Once I flagged down the waitress, 5-10 minutes, she was shocked and went to go get my food. Luckily it was made and warm! I ordered the NY steak with baked potato and vege's of the day. I enjoyed the vege's and the steak and potato was just average. Basically a good steak but nothing to rave about. One person in our party ordered his NY Chicago style and hated it, while another person order the buffalo and thought it was really good. I really enjoyed this place. Waitress was stand offish but food came quick and exactly what I asked for. The ribeye is on the thin side so if you are getting the steak be prepared for that. Lasagna was amazing. At the end of your meal when you receive the machine to pay, it's preset to an 18% tip. I hate that. My boyfriend's family and I went here to celebrate a birthday. We were sat right away and everything seemed to be okay... until our waitress arrived. She took our drink order with our appetizer and when she came back she started to sit everything in front of us. Instead of putting the appi plates down for us to pass around she would literally ask us to lean one way or another. Not just a little lean, but told us to move right out of the way. It was the same with our drinks. I had my menu open so I could point to what I was ordering. (I couldn't quite pronounce the name and it seemed easiest to just point while saying it.) I wasn't the only one that had their menu open, but as the waitress came up she asked us if we were ready to order. We said yes and then she proceeded to say: "Then close your menus." We were all so taken aback by her rudeness and bluntness. After closing my menu, then opening it again to order I was given some dirty looks. Ordered a caesar, it was unbearably spicy and when we asked for another one that was less spicy, she replied that she made it that spicy because she liked it that way. What a nice surprise!!! I asked my Husband to find a new place to eat but not a chain and he found Zambelli's. We were there around 1:30 on a Wednesday and it was surprising busy. We shared a pizza and the Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich. We were literally full after sharing the sandwich ($16.00) but had to at least try the pizza. Both were really so delicious! We peeked at everyone else's food and know exactly what we're getting next time, souvlaki and lasagna. This place is perfect, great atmosphere, friendly service and the food is exceptional. Not a good evening at Zambelli tonight. My mother and brother attempted to order the oysters. The waitress checked with the kitchen and came back and said the had oysters tonight. They ordered the fried oysters, even pointing to them on the menu, and the waitress asked if that was their meal. Would they like something with it? They asked her to confirm it came with rice and vegetables and she said yes. Minutes later she returned and said they didn't have those oysters, just fresh oysters. They could not fry fresh oysters. They returned to the menu and reordered. We had overdone steak X2 which was served cold with cold potatoes and vegetables. The salmon special was a meager piece of salmon, cold and dry with 2 shrimp. It was served with the wrong salad and cold rice. We sent it back and they reheated the salmon to a jerky state and sent it back out. The waitress forgot to order one person's meal altogether. She apologised and it came out at the same time as the salmon. Cold food, poor service, no accountability on the part of the restaurant. Would not recommend. read more

We should have walked out after we walked in and smelled a odor of what smelled like an over powered dirty bacteria filled kitchen sponge! It was awful and swear it nearly melted our skin off! The few unpleasant reviews I had read stated that as long as we ate pizza, we would be extremely happy. Supposedly it was some of the BEST pizza reviewers had ever had. My son wanted pizza and I figured... you can't really screw up pizza. First, my son ordered a strawberry smoothie that was sour, and the guy who made it even admitted after it was delivered he knew it was made w sour strawberries. I understand that can happen, depending on the season, but the guy who made it just laughed about it rather than fixing it. The least he could've done was offered to take it off the bill or add some sugar. I started w a Caesar salad which had dressing that filled up half of the bowl. It was swimming in dressing and it was clearly bottled. Then my son and I ordered cheese toast which was terrible and 2 pizzas. As far as the pizza goes, which we ordered 2 of, outside of the dough there was nothing special about it. My order came out wrong without the toppings I requested and w green peppers which I requested I didn't want and both pizzas we ordered came out burned! The cheese on them both, was black! In addition, one of the staff members appeared intoxicated and communication w him was odd, uncomfortable and unprofessional. The staff was loud, childish, young, and clearly had no managerial experience. In fact, they started vacuuming the restaurant at 8pm when they advertise they don't close until 10! The total cost of our bill was $85! Don't get me wrong, as long as the food is good, I don't mind paying the money but when you add in the fact that I got severely ill, was throwing up from both ends, and I sit here 24 hours later still feeling sick, makes me wish they'd shut their doors!!
