She was training another young lady. We got the impression right away that the lady being trained had more on the ball than the waitress. Any who, while the waitress was busy talking to her co-workers we waived her over. She was so busy talking she walked right by our table and stopped to talk to another table. By this time I'm starting to get irritated. She finally made it to our table and my husband made some comment and she blamed the customer for talking too much. Tip just went down. We finally got to place our order when she started telling us about items we didn't order. Seriously does this person have any common sense? Tip just went down again. Was a little long to have dinner I thought but the lounge is a more relaxed atmosphere so we took it as it was. We needed to be seated at a table to accommodate my mom better as it's hard for her to get in & out of booths & the only tables available were in the lounge so we figured we'd try it. Do not visit if you're on an hour lunch break. Service 1/10 & Food 5/10 4 of my co-workers and myself came to the Sawmill Leduc to celebrate a staff members birthday. We arrived shortly after 12pm on Wednesday, September 25th and were immediately greeted by the Hostess. She sat 4 of us while he waited on 1 more to arrive. We waited until our joiner arrived before placing our order, which was at 12:25pm. One guest at the table ordered a soup to start; now having 15+ years in the service industry I understood that appetizers can typically hold up the entrée portion, but French Onion Soup 1) shouldn't take 20 minutes to come out on its own and 2) shouldn't delay the entrees another 30 minutes after the soup is served. We were the 3rd table in there (with 6 tables total during the lunch "hour") and every single table was served before us, even though we had ordered before them. When I asked about how much longer our food would be, Madison, our server seemed annoyed (also note, it was like she had been avoiding us, knowing our food was taking a while, without any acknowledgment or an apology on the food taking so long for a while now) and said she would check. At 1:07pm she came back and said "they are just plating it." We did not receive our entrees food until 1:18pm which from experience it shouldn't take 11 minutes to plate 5 entrees. After paying for the bill, Madison said we could remain at the table if we wanted. There was no "thank you" for coming in. No "see you next time". This is our go to place in Leduc! We always sit in the lounge and have wonderful service and the food is always amazing. We have nothing to complain about. Any other day it would be 5 stars. We made dinner reservations for New Years. We got a spot for 4pm the hostess on the phone said there was a maximum of 1 hour and 45 minutes we could stay due to how many reservations. Which was totally okay with us. Tonight they had a New Years menu which had our favourites so no problem. Even a glass of sparking wine included on the price tag! First we ordered a drink. I got a Caesar which she asked grey goose or absolut. Which was an up charge. No choice for the bar well. Our server was a young girl who seemed like she wanted us out before we sat down. We ordered appetizer and our starter salad. Both which were great. Before we had even really got into our starters, dinner arrived. It was now 4:14. We felt so rushed. She came by to ask how it was and we asked for our complimentary sparkling wine. She acted so mad that we wanted our complimentary wine rather than increase her bill with other alcohol. Wouldn't come back for New Years again. Which is sad cause this is one of our favourite places. read more

Group of 8 went for a birthday dinner last night. Very underwhelming experience. Limited drink selection. The starters on their specials were forgotten. Food not ordered was brought out. Very slow even though it was 8 pm and mostly empty. Never offered a water refill. Was surprised that there was no consideration for the birthday boy. Person with nut allergy ordered nut free and was then served a salad with almonds. Then to top it off they applied service charge automatically. Been eating at sawmill since was originally called Bar X in the 70s. Not a return option for me. The prime rib was good but I can buy good beef for home, we go out for a good experience. I am so glad that I didn't let the one bad review keep me from giving this place a shot. I lucked into the Thursday night special of prime rib and as a bonus they offered half price bottles of wine. The wine list isn't extensive, but they have some good offerings. I had a nice cab from Paso Robles, Cali called Paso Creek. I ordered the prime rib medium rare. I have have the opportunity to visit again I will go with rare as it was not as red as I had hoped. The Yorkshire pudding was a delight done right. They were tall and light with a crisp shell and a lightly chewy center. The baby carrots and broccoli were nicely done. The baked potato was a treat and the waitress brought the toppings to your table and you are offered what you want in your desired quantities. If you go wrong with the baker it is on you. The prime rib was good and the au jus was thick and flavorful. One look at the surrounding motels and truck stop you should know this is not a cloth napkin and wine cellar kind of place, so don't walk in with this delusion clouding you experience. It is a nice place with plenty of TVs in the lounge area and really good food and service to match. Saw a lot of bad reviews for service here. Definitely not the case for me. I was seated immediately in the lounge section. Brindy was attentive and delightful! I never wanted for anything! I had the NY Strip with a skewer of garlic shrimp and red skinned mashed potatoes and vegetables. The shrimp were a little flavorless, but the steak was very good. Excellent flavor and very tender. 4 of us attended the Sunday brunch at the Leduc Sawmill at 12:30. Immediately seated as there were only 4 other tables occupied. This should have been an alert right off the bat. Average selection of food items ranging from the usual breakfast fare to hip of beef and ham. Joe our server took very good care of us the entire time with drinks and coffee refills. Snow crab pieces available so I took 5 pieces. They were absolutely tasteless as they were likely in the freezer for a considerable time. I then ventured to the beef station where I had a good size of beef carved as well as some ham. Good thing they provided a hefty knife with a good blade as a chain saw would have been next to cut through the ultra tough beef. The jaws got a good workout and I left about half on the plate as it was no longer fun to eat! I noticed other diners leaving beef on the plate. The ham wasn't bad but was like eating a salt block with a very heavy salt content. Eggs Benedict sauce was funky and the egg was hard as a rock and not soft yoke as it should have been. Anyway to sum it up the 4 of us were very disappointed with our experience and NEVER again! Stay away from this place for brunch! read more

I have actually never written a review of any place before..... however, I believe it's time. I would consider myself a foodie.... and I should give out reviews of other establishments that are fantastic more often. We then received our 'Bacon wrapped scallops' where the scallops were over cooked (rubbery) and for that matter, so was the bacon (undercooked), the garlic toast that accompanied this appetizer was soggy, so was clearly pre-toasted. Ugh. The only part of our meal that was good was my salad. It was good. Then we received or main dish. Steak , choice of potatoe and veggie. The steak was not any where close to what an actual 'Steak House' should have served. Mine was over cooked and my partners was mearly ok. The carrots and zucchini however were cooked perfectly. And then what all of us look forward to..... desert! What a sad sad day. My partner had the lemon tart, which I'm fairly certain came out of a package...... which made its debut next to my cheesecake. I was really hoping that the Sawmill would redeem itself with a great desert. Nope! They did not. The cheesecake was still frozen...... you heard me.... frozen! The berries that were placed on top.... ALSO frozen! Seriously? How does this happen? Coulee..... ice cold of course. How frustrating. Soooo , for a meal for two at what is supposed to be a steak house that should have higher standards..... was extremely disappointing for us..... and...... it cost us $120.... not including tip. We were at another steakhouse recently with friends and for about the same price.... the food was exceptional! We were so disappointed. Four of us adults had an abismal experience, cold food, wrong orders, small steaks, burnt potatoes, long waits for meals, 15 minutes for coffee refills which finallyturned into self-service.
