Always a great time at Zanata. On the weekends the wait can be long, up to 1.5 hrs but with a great downtown area to walk around in & sometimes live music to listen to it's well worth it. We get the blue crab dip every.time because it's amazing! This time we shared the "Mighty Quinn" pizza. All their pizzas are wood fired and to die for. Had some spice to it, delicious. Everyone told us to try Zanatas when we moved here and now we know why. The menu is great, the food is better than it needs to be and the drinks menu is one of the best in town. The wood fired pizzas were our favorites but we'd go there for just drinks and apps...everything is great! The servers know their stuff and are treat you like friends/family. Our waitress was the BEST. I could not decide between the pork chop and sea bass. Waitress recommend that both are amazing but get the pork chop. OMG. I am so glad I did. I don't brag about food often but this is a must. Pork chop had a crusty outside and a perfect medium inside. The lobster risotto was off the hook. Truffle oil going on all the things. ALL this with the perfect $5 house wine. My husband got the lasagne, not my thing but he absolutely loved it. This was my 4th time here and more impressed every time. Love love love the sea bass! My husbands risotto (came with his pork chop) was OMG SO GOOD! They brought a little child's appetizer (fruit and crackers) to my three year old without us even asking! A small touch that makes the whole "going out to eat with a toddler" so much easier. We always have a great experience and walk away talking about how amazing our food was.... Zanata has great calzones and pizzas, they use very fresh ingredients and make the pizza dough first thing in the morning. But its a small place and it takes a long time for them to answer their phone at peak times. I suggest going there when they first open and pay for it at the store, for later pick up. I believe they are cash only establishment. You can have it delivered. But we don't' mind driving a few minutes to get the hot fresh stuff right away rather than wait for the delivery guy. They have really great crust on their pizza and calzones are HUGE so be ready to share that with others. Nice people just very busy all the time. Patience is key there. read more

Usually a great place but on occasion, only when the bearded ginger nut is running the bar, the service is intolerable. If you like to not be acknowledged after seating, wait 5 minutes for him to chat and serve his favorite customers, only then to make eye contact and then be blanked, its great! This guy has done this one too many times and i spend at least $100 per visit. Not anymore Ginger Nut, no tips from me and Zanata, i will not set foot in your restaurant again. What's not to love about Zanata? It's one of my favorite restaurants in Rockwall. Located in Downtown Rockwall, Zanata occupies a space that was once a drugstore back in the day. The atmosphere is rustic and charming. The waitstaff are friendly and professional, and the bartenders make a mean cocktail. I've been here a couple of times, and the food is always consistently good. It can get busy on the weekends, but depending on the time, the wait isn't too terrible. It can get loud though, probably the only complaint I have. The food. Oh man. They are well known for their wood fired pizzas, but try their specials! Last time my husband and I visited, I had tarragon encrusted pork tenderloin with a whisky balsamic glaze, polenta, and broccoli. It was one of the best meals I've had in a long time. My husband had the Sunday chicken, and he loved it. Don't skip dessert. The bananas foster is amazing. read more

Zanata is by far, the best restaurant in Rockwall. We discovered this gem 2 1/2 years ago when we retired and moved to Rockwall. We eat there once, twice every week; mostly at lunch time because the evening is extremely busy with long wait times. Everything we have ever had there is fabulous. Wood fired pizzas, several specialty green salads, grilled salmon, great burger and the most delicious chicken salad, just to name a few of our lunch time faves. Dinner menu also has specialties that change weekly. Desserts are excellent too. Their food is consistent in taste and quality. You know that what you tried once and loved, will always taste the same each time. And they have the best iced tea anywhere. Their wait staff is excellent. We highly recommend them! read more

If you live in Rockwall Texas, you know about this restaurant. While in town I was searching for another great place to eat in Zanata's did not disappoint. Very busy bar for a Monday, but I was able to grab a chair. Ordered a glass of wine, and one of their fresh specialty pizzas. The bartender was awesome and the company of these two strangers were the icing on the cake. I didn't know was this place is owned by the same people that own the bank house brewery. How can you go wrong knowing that. My new friends at the bar told me about another special spot that these people own a sea food place in town, that I will absolutely have try out. Tonight. We've been here several times. And enjoyed it immensely. However: tonight different story. Ordered the shrimp and mushroom appetizer. The pancetta was BURNT. We told the manager, he said "oh. I'll address it with the kitchen". The Z Salad is amazing as usual. We ordered lasagna for our entree. Were told later, they were out. That's the whole reason we came. We didn't find out until after we received our salad that they were"out of lasagna". We told the manager how sad we were. Because we were craving lasagna. He said. The crab dip is served with fresh baked bread and matza crackers is hot fattening and delicious! Their pizza is made in a wood burning oven hand tossed thin and crispy. Spinach salad with fresh sliced pears and pecans is wonderful . My favorite is the roasted veggies with Chicken, soooo good! Can't go wrong! However, if you are looking for a quite romantic dinner for two, that's not what you'll find! Go for the food great service and old downtown Rockwall ambiance! read more
