So glad they opened this location! Zareen's just doesn't miss. Everytime I have their food I'm excited to come back and try something new. Excellent service, excellent flavors, good variety of veg and non-veg so there is something for everyone. It's busy but productive, lines move quickly, food comes out piping hot. The vibes are efficient and friendly without rushing you. Lamb gosht thali, chicken boti thali, and dahi puri on point. Piyaaz salad on the side because you can never have enough raw onion and jalapeño iykyk.

Chicken tikka masala is very flavorful and not too oily. You can also eat it directly without naan and it's not too heavy by itself. Delicious. Garlic nann is also very tasty and not too oily.

I first tried Zareen's in Palo Alto a few years ago and really enjoyed it, but that location is a bit out of the way for me. I was delighted to hear they now have a South Bay location in the heart of historic downtown Sunnyvale. There's plenty of outdoor seating, which makes it a great spot for a casual summer lunch. We ordered the lamb gosht thali and grilled chicken boti thali, one with garlic naan and the other with rice. The menu notes that the food is prepared "medium spicy," but I'd categorize it as fairly mild. That said, everything was flavorful, satisfying, and cooked perfectly. The lamb was tender, the chicken was juicy, and all the sides complemented the meats well. No notes. The garlic naan was especially noteworthy. It arrived fresh, warm, and incredibly pliable, with the perfect texture for scooping up every last bit of curry. The service had the same blunt, curt energy I remembered from Palo Alto, so don't expect much warmth or hand-holding. Thankfully, the food is excellent enough to speak for itself. I'm just happy I can finally get Zareen's without making the trek up to Palo Alto. Would come back.

I went to Zareen's Sunnyvale on a Thursday afternoon at an odd hour, but it was open and there were still quite a few people dining. I got the chicken sizzler, which was cooked well and tasted good, but the spices felt a bit lacking for some reason. The palak aloo was good too, with a nice creamy texture and aloo that was so tender it kind of melted in my mouth. It paired really well with the garlic naan, and the two tasted really nice together. I've been to Zareen's other locations, and those have tasted a lot better. The last two times I've been to this one, it was a bit lacking in comparison. Service was okay. We ordered a side of raita, and the waiter forgot to bring it over twice when we asked, which was a little annoying, though they were good about refilling our waters. The vibe was nice, with a lot of outdoor seating that was well shaded.

Zareen's is a Pakistani-Indian restaurant with a great reputation in the Bay Area, and our meal at the Sunnyvale location lived up to it. We had the grilled chicken boti thali and beef chapli kabab thali, along with garlic naan and mango lassi. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and nicely presented, but the lentils were the standout for me. We enjoyed sitting outside, the good service and a unique dining experience.

Loved this new location of Zareen's! It has lots of indoor and outdoor seating with quick and friendly service. Loved the food as it's the same consistent yummy quality as Palo Alto :) and tried their new addition of dahi sev puri which was bomb and 5/5 - literally flavor bombs :p Lots of parking behind it and good walking space in the front. No waiting on Sunday afternoon which was a pleasant surprise :)

I love Zareen's food! From MV to Palo Alto to Redwood City and now Sunnyvale! Yay getting closer for me :) Their silver spoon wraps are my fav go to - for any beach picnic or party at home. They have such happy and helpful servers - always smiling and providing solutions. We had every little time and we said, can you bring our food fast - oh wow! Fast and tasty with highest quality! The ambiance is incredible- books hanging on the ceilings - outdoor seating on Murphy street. I have not tried their chaat - pani puri / papdi chaat etc. have to save something for next time! Also, got to meet Zareen's son outside - he was so polite and hospitable.

This was a family referral and it's Pakastani and Indian Cuisine. The level of heat spice can be mild, so fret not those who fear spices. The service staff are friendly. This spot is the currently most popular restaurant in Downtown Sunnyvale and the non-transit corridor has many restaurants, a lot with sparse support of customers, but we went here for dinner and waited 30 minutes for a table for 2, could have walked into almost every other restaurant with a "no wait" immediate seating, some Indian and Asian cuisine too... so the fact that many are opting to wait for a seat at Zareen's is a testament to their popularity.

Got there ~6PM Thursday night and it was bustling with people, both at Zareen's and the other restaurants along Murphy street! We got seated fairly quickly for a party of 2 outdoors. We ordered pani puri (solid), chicken samosas (only comes with 2 pieces, but a must order!! Sooo good!!), and thalis for each of us. I love their daal so much. Garlic naan is light and fluffy too. Sooo happy there's a Zareen's in the area!! I've only had food at the Mountain View location (take out only), so it was nice to have the full dine in experience!

Omggggg I'm jumping for joy that Zareens has opened closer to me!!!!! Whatever you do order the chicken tikka masala and the soft serve. I think both flavors are good but I'd opt for the mango! I highly recommend the famous chicken samosa. If you have more space to eat order the beef Chapli too!

We came here late at around 8:30PM and it was quite crowded inside and outside, despite having just recently opened. We were pleasantly surprised by how fast we were seated and served. We really enjoyed the paneer tikka masala and garlic naan. The rice was also delicious. We found a tiny hair in the rice but I noticed the workers had hair nets, so they're doing the best they can. Overall this place had amazing ambiance and food!

This was my first time trying Zareen's and my first time having Indian food in a really long time since it's not my typical go-to, but I definitely could see why this place is so popular. We ordered 2 Garlic Naans, 1 fries, 1 chicken tikka masala, and 1 lamb curry and it was good but too much food for 2 people, as the only thing we were able to finish was the naan. In my opinion, comparing the two curries, I liked the lamb as it was spicier, but the chicken in the tikka masala had a nice charred taste to it under the sauce that felt like it came right off the grill. The total came out to $80 with tax and tip, so a bit on the pricier side to be honest. 3.5 stars!

We came late at 8:30 pm on a Saturday and it was still packed. The service was very quick and we got seated on the back patio. We got the fries, samosas, rice, tikka masala, goat curry, garlic naan and the chicken sizzling plate. Highlight for me was the samosas and the tikka masala. Overall a good meal and pretty affordable. I wish the food was hotter though.

Are the chicken nuggets on the kids menu the kind that are process / pre-formed like mcdonalds or dino nuggets or are they the kind which is just a small piece of chicken that is fried like star bird or chik-fil-a?

They are pieces of chicken that are friend but very fresh.

Every dish is seasoned perfectly and not overly salted. I've tried just about everything on the menu and the meat is always tender. Vegetables here are top quality as well, which compliments the dishes nicely. And the green yogurt sauce is spicy! In a good way. I usually order an extra with the biryani plates, because *some* is just never enough. Their mango lassi is super mango-ey. I don't know what kind of mangoes go into this drink, but it has the most sweet, tart, and ripe fruitiness (emphasis on fruitiness), and the yogurt in it adds good balance. Perfect drink. There is a good variety of items to choose from, so I don't get bored eating here. You can tell everything is cooked fresh on a daily basis as well. Don't sleep on the desserts either. After trying baklava at many restaurants around San Jose, I regard Gulzaar Halaal's as my personal favorite. Crispy layers, firm yet chewy bottom, and never stale. Perfect balance of sweet, nutty and spiced. My favorite dessert though has to be Kanafeh. Soft-ish, melty sweet cheese (with rose water, I think?). Ask for it warmed. I've always felt relaxed when eating in the restaurant. Tables are frequently cleaned. The owner is very attentive, making sure customers are happy with everything. Their interactions with people are always very respectful and kind. Last but not least, the bathroom is clean, neat and tidy.

First time coming here, and here's my experience:…read more 1. Ambience (4/5): I came around 3 PM. The restaurant had plenty of seating, was very clean, and had a minimalist design. 2. Service (3/5): I ordered at the cashier counter, and the guy gave me a number tag to place on my table. It was mostly self-service, I got my own water, hot milk tea, and utensils from the front station. Nothing special to mention about the service. 3. Food (3/5): - Chicken Biryani (2/5): This was my first time trying this dish. Personally, it lacked flavor, the rice was quite plain and there wasn't much chicken either. For $17, the portion felt small. The Indian spices had a strong aroma, but the overall taste was pretty bland. - Mango Lassi (4/5): I liked the mango flavor, it smelled good and wasn't too sweet. Overall: It wasn't a great experience for me. Maybe next time I'll try some curry if I get a chance.

I was the newbie here and my friend has frequented this place a lot so I leaned on him for recommendations. In short, this is comfort food full of flavor though it might take a little time to get your food, it's all made fresh! L O C A T I O N Off of El Camino Real (I know that's not really descriptive as El Camino is VERY long) and Lawrence Expressway (now we're getting closer), in a shopping area with a Big Lots and 24 Hour Fitness. The plaza is called Lawrence Expressway Plaza. Lots of parking so easy to find one near the entrance. I N S I D E Fairly cozy with booths to sit in. There's also a few outdoor tables for seating if you'd want to eat al fresco. They have a water and tea station which is nice as well as serve your own plates and utensils. M E N U Fairly extensive with Tandoori dishes, curries, vegetarian faire, biryanis, naans, wraps...my head was dizzy from all the choices. But I went with the recommended Bangen Bhartha, Chicken Biryani, and a plain naan. ~ Bangen Bhartha ~ The description: a unique blend of eggplant, tomatoes, onions, cream and spices. And indeed it was. You can taste that they grilled the veggies which reminded me of a Filipino grilled eggplant dish. I love a good grilled eggplant and this went great with the plain naan we had. ~ Chicken Biryani ~ The description: Tender pieces of chicken cooked with basmati rice and spice flavoured sauce garnished with raita. That raita though....man I saved what I had after I finished that dish and used it on other food I had in the house. I love a yogurt sauce. It also complimented well with the chicken biryani. Again full of flavor but beware of stray chicken bones and hard pieces when chewing the rice. It is a bone in chicken that they cook which helps with the flavor of the dish not so much for your teeth. Also complimented well with the bangen bhartha. ~ Plain Naan ~ The naan was plain and I had to have the plain one as much as I'd love the garlic one as I do have garlic sensitivities. But it was crisp, chewy, sizeable and complimented our eggplant dish well. S E R V I C E Basically you order at the front, they give you a number. You sit down, they bring you the food, you get all your utensils and plates and drinks. Very bare bones in terms of service but kind of what I expected. Food did take some time but again I think that's due to them freshly cooking everything which can take some time. Then afterwards, you bring up your number and pay. Easily paid by credit card. O V E R A L L It was delicious. I would definitely come back to get everything I had again but I would probably venture into their tandooris or wraps to try it out. The menu's very extensive so grab a friend or two to be able to try out more stuff!
