We were looking for a convenient date night spot near my girlfriend's house, so I googled "good pizza near me" and came across ZaVino Italian Marketplace -- and I'm so glad we did. The pizza was absolutely incredible and tasted super fresh. They also had a great selection of beer and wine at really reasonable prices, which made the experience even better. I was excited to see one of my favorite beers, Narragansett, on the menu. We ordered the Caesar salad along with a white pizza that was half classic white and half pepperoni, and everything was fantastic. The flavors were fresh, authentic, and perfectly done. The atmosphere made for such an easy, relaxing date night, and the service was great too. This is definitely going to become one of our new favorite local spots near the house! read more

Because of this experience, I personally won't be returning. I hope the restaurant can improve its customer service, as it would make a big difference for customers who want to enjoy their food and feel welcomed, so I decided to try Zavino because I had heard they serve good Italian pizza, and as someone who really enjoys Italian food, I was excited to give it a try. My first visit went smoothly, and the pizza was fairly good. However, I did notice that the customer service could be improved. A more welcoming atmosphere with employees smiling and making eye contact would make a big difference in the overall experience. I decided to give the place another chance and went back for a second visit. This time, I ordered two slices of their bread pizza, and unfortunately one of them had a hair in it. I politely went to the front desk and informed the employee. At first, he seemed to brush it off or not fully acknowledge it, and I had to physically take the hair out to show him so he could see it. He did offer to replace the slice, which I appreciated and accepted, but there was no apology or kindness in the interaction. Situations like that can happen anywhere, but the way they are handled really matters. read more

I've been hearing such great things about ZaVino and I was so glad I finally checked it out. I definitely need to go back in the future for their sandwiches and prepared foods, but their selection of goods and wines were amazing. TLDR: 4.5 stars, quality ingredients, best eaten immediately. Bring cash to tip, and don't skip the fresh filled cannoli. I'm going to assume every one understands the methodology behind ordering the same thing at each new place (by cuisine) as the metric of judging the quality. For me, Margherita pizza is the Italian spot order. The menu is pretty full of great options, but I knew I needed to try some of the Neo Neapolitan pizza and at least one appetizer on my first trip. The sandwiches sounded amazing. The thick Sicilian slices were really enticing too but I noticed those too late to try this time around. ZaVino gained a new fan last week!!! Their Margherita pizza was delicious and I actually enjoyed the Aubergine dream even though I could usually pass on eggplant. The bonus: This was hands down the best fried mozzarella I have ever had. The staff were efficient and kind. We sat at the small counter with bar stools along the wall (note that seating is limited but the entire store is fun to browse if you need to wait for a spot). The small dining counter is clean and inviting. There are a few fun drink options like italian soda in glass bottles. My only negative is that the leftover pizza slices weren't half as enjoyable the next day, so keep that in mind if you don't plan to consume the entire 12" pizza same day. read more

Zavino has a great marketplace concept with fabulous wines and Italian food (the cheese and deli selection is fantastic). The outdoor seating is spacious and comfortable, staff are very friendly and helpful when it comes to decision making. Food highlights for me so far include the Calabrian hot chicken, Italian combo mozzarella sticks, cheese pizza and Tiramisu. I plan to try everything on the menu as it really is that good. This is the perfect spot for a tasty Italian bite!Came here with friends on a Saturday for lunch. It's an Italian market combined with Italian deli and pizzeria. The menu is plenty with hot and cold sandwiches, salads, pizza and more. We got the chicken parm and the Hail Caesar sandwich. Both sandwiches were good but the hail Caesar was my favorite! We stopped by ZaVino when we were wandering around Cross Keys a week or so ago, and I thought it was really nice for a pretty small space. It's a market, specializing in all things Italian, and a wine shop. We wandered through the wine section and picked out a sparkling rose to enjoy later. Then we wandered through the rest of the shop. They sell fresh pastas, freshly made pasta sauces, jarred items (capers, tomatoes, etc.), crackers, cheese, charcuterie, and other items. You can almost get everything you need here for cooking an Italian dinner at home, minus any fresh produce (MOM's and Eddie's are both nearby). They also sell some pre-made dishes (lasagna, baked ziti). The setup inside is a little confusing. I didn't even realize they had a full food menu until we were checking out with our wine and a few other items we picked up while shopping, maybe because they have hardly any seating inside (maybe one or two high top tables). But I think they offer wine by the glass and a full menu of food, which you'll probably have to enjoy outdoors, since the seating is so limited inside. Maybe if there was a large menu or an "Order Here" sign by the register, it might be more clear that they are a full service restaurant, in addition to being a market? Because it wasn't clear to me until we went to check out. (I realize there's a pizza oven back there - but it just didn't click - I thought ZaVino was a market). Still, a good addition to Cross Keys. I'd be happy to stop by and try some of their food when it's a bit cooler (September?) now that I understand it's a restaurant, too! I stumbled upon this place and when I walked in the smell of the pizza captured me immediately. I had just come from dinner, so I wasn't hungry, but I took notes on what this place has to offer--- which is a good amount. Everyone I came in contact with was helpful and it's good to see that they have a few chairs and tables outside, so you can get your bottle of wine and sit outside. I wish their non-alcoholic wine selection was a bit larger, but they do have a few options. I got their bread pudding from their cold case and it wasn't bad at all. Not too sweet. Yeah this was a colossal disappointment, and I am actually pissed of as i write this review. I probably won't have come across this place but I saw it on instagram being promoted that should have been my red flag but I went ahead. I went there two consecutive days first visit, had a Calabrian chicken sandwich that was supposed to be spicy lmao.. i even added some hot peppers didn't see any lol. The bread tasted old not necessarily stale, the sandwich was a gloop of mayo and lettuce with some hardened cutlet. With the first visit I said u know what let me check their pizza, well when they gave me the box I was immediately pissed the fuck off like for $23 that box and pizza were small. The pizza was wimp and flimsy see pics .. it was tasty I will give them that but the wimpy pizza, flimsy small ass pizza just had me irate. Also my jaw hurt as I chewed it. We stopped by ZaVino on our way to try always ice cream for a Yelp experience. ZaVino has been on my radar since they opened as I love pizza and wine, who doesn't? I also really like the concept of a marketplace and restaurant all in one because then you can have a meal and also buy things and take it home with you. What I love the most was the fair pricing. A bag of chips was 2.50 and the soda was around three dollars. I feel like other novelty Italian stores in the area. Have a really interesting markup. The Neapolitan pizza here is excellent. You see it going into the oven and coming out and it's so cravable. It taste like it's made with good ingredients and a lot of care. It's a full bright open kitchen and the owner was there and we chatted with him for a little bit. This location is tucked away. I had a hard time finding it on the map, but it's on the main courtyard floor tucked away in the corner, keep going. Since it's part of the new development at Cross Keys, the restrooms are located a little bit far away so FYI The wine selection here is huge is not just Italian and they also have a lot of nonalcoholic options as well as prepackaged foods like lasagna and different meats and cheeses. This is such a cute, well organized, delicious Italian marketplace located in the newly renovated Cross Keys market. The staff are so friendly and welcoming, I love the layout is accommodating for a sit down vibe or a quick grab of a bite to take home. Today my friend and I tried two pizzas - the Vodka pizza and the Bianca pizza and *chef's kiss* they were delicious! Wow!! Fairly new Italian Deli in Cross Keys. My sister in law brought over an assortment of subs and a pizza for Sunday Football. We had the cold Italian cold cut combo, chicken Parm, meatball, and the pork sandwich which was all warm sandwiches. Good quality meat, the sub buns were soft, seasonings were spot on. I'm going five stars. I was visiting (no surprise) Alway Ice Cream at Crosskeys and saw a patron with a pizza box from ZaVino. I was curious! Went home and looked them up. The location is on the upper level of the complex. If you park in the lower lot you can walk around back of the ice cream shop and take the stairs up. Or, park in the upper deck. The shop has a large selection of wines for sale and does sell by the glass. There's a cold counter with items to purchase including tiramisu. They have a proper pizza oven, which was great to see. The pies are personal size and the menu is extensive for a quick sit down spot. We ordered two pies. I had the eggplant with hot honey pie, awesome. Highly recommend. I'm told the pepperoni was great as well. There's indoor and outdoor seating. Super casual. For a quick bite to eat, I recommend trying them out! read more

Stopped by Zavinos to check out the space. Overall the offerings were plentiful. There were specialty Italian items. Different types of cheese and meats, etc. Think, smaller version of Eataly (NYC). I was intrigued by the pizza options and went for a drunken margarita. Service was personable and efficient. The presentation for the pizza was nice. Fresh ingredients. Stopped by for lunch. Had the pomodoro pasta and the ribollita soup. Both were very good and on food alone I probably would have given 5 stars. My only criticism is that it would be nice to make the dine in option a little easier. Cute little market! My friend and I got coffee at Kneads and grabbed sandwiches here for lunch. The sandwiches are a bit steep in price. I ordered the chicken parm sub ($16). The sub was in one word, fine. It is on the larger side, so could be shared. That is how my friend described her caprese sub (fine and big). Not the best, not the worst. Her husband did love his italian sub tho! I also grabbed a bag of pesto potato chips that were by the register, I did not like them at all (lol). I also grabbed a small block of interesting cheese, which I loved and thought was reasonably priced. Overall, I would definitely return to try out some of the other subs. My partner and I are on the hunt to find Baltimores best pizza spots. This place came up and was recommended by a friend. This is a very cute italian market with various cheeses, wines, pasta salads, pizzas, and sandwiches. We got the arancini, furio pizza, chicken Cesar salad sandwich, and a vanilla cream puff dessert. Our total was over $60, which was a bit pricey. The food was delicious and had amazing flavor. The pizza sauce was sweet and balanced with the pepperoni, hot honey, and chilies - the crust was definitely cooked as much as it could be but the under carriage wasn't as crispy as I would have liked but still very solid flavor. There could have been more chicken on the Caesar sandwich or atleast a solid flat cutlet, it was all lettuce but dressed nicely and their Caesar was sooo good. They have both indoor seating (bar stools) and outdoor seating. They provide plates and silverware upon request, so not much customer service involved outside of ordering. Came here to grab sandwiches after a pilates class in Cross Keys. The market itself is so cute! They have a ton of things like meats, cheeses, premade lasagna, and desserts. I love that this can be a spot to grab anything I might need for hosting here. I ordered the Italian combo for myself and the Italian beef for my husband, as well as their arancini! I REALLY loved the arancini and would definitely order that again. Both sandwiches were good, although I think I'm partial to Luigi's Italian cold cut. I would definitely return here though to try their other sandwiches and pizza. I also picked up a bottle of wine from their shop. The price is a little steeper- they don't have a lot of budget type options, but that is okay- I can tell the intention is to have quality as a priority. The wine aisles had a great selection of wines from all over. I tried a canned mocktail for $5 which was excellent. We walked around and saw the prepared food which looked good but the pizza flavors caught our attention so we ordered that instead! Placed our order and went to the restroom and by the time we were back, the food was ready. They have limited indoor seating but LOTS of outdoor seating. It was perfect for a sunny day! Been hearing good things about ZaVino so we ordered an Italian Combo sub and a regular cheese pizza. Sammy was good but not sure $17 good. Bread was good and crusty and meats were on point but the fixings on it seemed skimpy. Pizza was a little larger than personal side and had the best chewy crust I have ever had. End result? Good but not sure I will have on my regular go tos. For the people local on location, good addition to choices. Nice people working there!!! read more

With Cross Keys expanding so rapidly, I wanted to try one of the newer food options in Cross Keys. ZaVino was today's pick. The establishment is beautiful with an array of Italian food and wine for purchase. They also have food for carryout as well. You can eat in ZaVino's but they do not have an expansive eating area inside the store. You can either order at the counter or they have one self-kiosk for ordering. That said in the midst of me placing my order at the kiosk, a cashier stopped me and stated she would take me at the register. Why, I'm not sure but it felt it weird and made me slightly uncomfortable. I asked her if they sold slices of pizza and she shook her head no, while barely speaking up to answer my question. She also didn't offer the selection of single sliced focaccia pizza they have for purchase-also odd. I feel like a good cashier/salesperson would be able to identify what you need, by what you're asking for, then offer a comparable (if available) option to meet the customer's needs. Again, this was not the case and I did not see the pizza slices until I was exploring the store while waiting for my food to be prepared. Again, so very odd. Also, my personal experience with the customer service overall in ZaVino's wasn't engaging or welcoming. Nobody really made eye contact, smiled, offered to assist-nothing. I was excited about getting the pizza due to the pictures and reviews, yet I opted for a chicken Caesar instead given my experience noted above. Definitely regretted the salad decision upon receiving, but wanted to be open about the experience. The chicken was moist but for some reason just seemed warmed versus grilled. The dressing-was not a fan. It was that thick dip like dressing, with not a great Caesar taste. The homemade croutons weren't even a hit for me as I'd expected them to be. I love homemade croutons, bummer. Needless to say, I'd like to return just for the pizza but given my experience with the customer service, I'm skeptical and it's not happening. I probably shouldn't have spent my money here, I get it, but y'all I was STARVING and I wanted to try some place new convenient to my next meeting destination. This place is okay--the Italian combo sandwich is top notch but a little overpriced at $17. The inside is confusing--there's like a satellite bar/counter/idk in the middle of the place with someone behind the counter...and then a deli counter...and a cashier counter. It's not intuitive on where to go to order/pick up. The owner/manager and his wife are the opposite of friendly and very cold. No greeting when you come in, no smiles, or thank yous for your business. I'll def come back when I'm craving a good Italian sandwich but it's not at the top of my list due to the unfriendly service. read more

Ate two subs and bought some sausage and peppers to go. The meatball sub is out of this world and the spicy chicken cutlet was insane. Their bread is excellent and not too hard/sharp.
