After requesting quotes on Yelp, I got a slew of phone calls from different companies asking if I wanted to make an appointment for an estimate. At 8pm, Nick called and instead of pitching himself to do the repair, he gave us some suggestions as to what the problem could be and how to fix it. Following Nick's suggestion, we made a quick trip to Home Depot, bought the $40 piece, replaced the broken piece. The fix took less than ten minutes and just as Nick had said, the furnace was working again! Never, in my 29 years of home ownership, has a service person ever turned down an opportunity for a job that probably would've cost several hundred dollars (not including the initial diagnostic fee)!! Nick showed himself to be a stand-up guy who wasn't just looking to make a buck off me. And if in the future, I have any other HVAC needs, Nick will be the first person I call. He sold and installed a new Trane unit, and did so at considerably less cost than any of the other contractors we interviewed. He and his crew arrived promptly on the day they said they would, and got the job done on schedule. Chris and his crew were all very courteous and professional throughout the workday. Additionally, they were very neat and respectful of our property. In fact, not only did they clean up after themselves, they found debris in the attic from a prior contractor, and without being asked, they hauled it all out of the attic, cut it up, and placed it on the street for our garbage pick up. Finally, the new unit is working great and we are very happy with it. We were extremely satisfied with the entire experience and highly recommend Econo Air.

Some background: I bought an old home in 2022 and have had issues with the AC not working reliably since the start - randomly stopping, drain pan filling up with water, etc. Before Econo Air, I've had 3 HVAC technicians from different companies inspect my AC setup. All of them were able to identify that the air handler in the attic was not installed very well, but none of them gave me much confidence that they fixed my problem(spoiler: they didn't). This year, my living room ceiling started to leak water...once again I had to try to find an HVAC company that I can count on without leaving me feeling like I've been ripped off. I called about 5 different companies, and most of them gave me the response I've come to expect - no/vague/unreasonable cost estimates and not being super helpful otherwise. The only exception was Econo Air. I spoke with Angela who was extremely knowledgeable and empathetic. She made me feel valued as a human being, not just another source of revenue. She took the time to understand my issue, provided fair and transparent pricing, and gave me advice on things I can do in the meantime. I really cannot overstate how awesome Angela is! It was really refreshing for a change, and I wish all companies were like this. I decided to give Econo Air a shot, and I'm so glad I did! They sent Ricardo who's very polite, funny and knowledgeable. He found out that my condensate drain line was not installed well and ended up decoupling, causing the water to pool in my ceiling instead of flowing outside. Ricardo fixed this, but upon checking a week later I found that my drain pan was still full of water. I reported this to Econo Air and to their credit, they sent Ricardo over again that same day, free of charge. It turns out that my p-trap was also improperly installed, which Ricardo missed the first time. He fixed the p-trap and it's been a day since then. My AC finally appears to be working properly and there's no more water issues. Even though they did not fully fix the issue on the first visit, how Econo Air handled this situation shows me that they really stand behind their work and care about their customers. I know plenty of companies who would have charged me again on the second visit "because reasons". I truly feel like I have found a gem in Econo Air amongst a sea of mediocre HVAC companies. Needless to say, I will be contacting them in the future for all of my HVAC needs.

Gold Coast Home Comfort was the sixth and last. It was evident at once that this was THE company to use. During the initial zoom meeting Tom introduces you to the mini split technology and the options available to you, standard vs hyper heat, and the available choice of models of indoor unit. He is professional and thorough with a quiet, confident presence. There is no hard sell. There is the unrushed presentation of information so that you may make an informed decision. Any questions you have are answered with complete transparency. eg. I inquired re: the electrician's license and he emailed me a copy of the license. He sent me photos of work he has done on other homes so that I might assess the quality of work and also the choice of color of line covers on the outside of the home. Since I have numerous unpredictable allergies I preferred to have an older model of air handler that does not have the extra anti mold coating. Tom went out of his way to find those units for my project. I called Consumer Affairs to confirm licensure and they assured me that this business is in good standing with no complaints against them. The day arrived for installation and three wonderful workmen arrived, carefully laid drop cloths then unpacked the first two air handlers. Then I had an allergic reaction and had to stop work on the project. Tom suggested we leave the units in the rooms for a couple of days to see if things improved. When they did not, Tom removed the equipment and REFUNDED MY ENTIRE DEPOSIT. This is unheard of in the business world but so consistent with the feeling I had always gotten when interacting with anyone in this company from Tom, to Julia, Zinnia, Mike and the workers Mark, Rene and Joe. All project kindness, understanding, attention to your needs, professionalism, high standards of quality of work and integrity. These are exceptional human beings who provide outstanding quality of work.
