Sixteen people showed up, and once everyone was there, I texted "here" as instructed. We were seated within five minutes, which was impressive given how late people were. We had two servers for the group, but everything ran smoothly. I ordered chicken tenders with fire tots and mac & cheese--all tasted fresh. The fire tots weren't as spicy as I expected, but still good. Their $5 margaritas are a steal--flavorful, though not heavy on the alcohol. I also tried my cousin's hot wings, which were spicy but had a unique flavor--less vinegary than standard buffalo wings, and I loved that. There were missing dishes, wrong side items, the dumplings (my usual fave) were completely inedible - dried out and extremely salty, hubby's eggs were undercooked and loaded with cheese (which he can't eat and didn't order), my chicken was literally solid black, fresh tomato slices were green, ham was oversalted and could've been used as a frisbee, gravy was cold. The only food that was hot and appetizing were the biscuits. There were obviously problems in the back today or something, but the manager made no apologies and the food was hardly improved when he brought it out again. And our poor waitress was in tears because of whatever was going on with the manager(s) in the back. We let her know that we knew the bad experience was not her fault and we prayed with her and told the manager it was unacceptable for his servers to be treated this way. All around just a shockingly terrible dining experience. This was definitely our worst Cracker Barrel visit ever, and we have eaten at CBs on a regular basis for decades. We met Carli the first day she had finished training and was such a sweet person. She is very quick to go from our booth and back with our drinks and she always gives us just the right amount of time to decide what we want to order. She always takes such good care of us. We very often order the same thing each week, The Monday night Sirloins are our favorites and I always get the sweet potato casserole without Marshmallows and usually I order the Ceasar salad and share it with my husband. That leaves him a chance to order 2 sides. Most of the servers have memorized what we always order. We love Aspen Creek and are here almost every Monday. Sitting over on the right side of the restaurant is the quietest side to sit on. Over on the left side of the restaurant where the bar is, it is very often a bit loud but not so loud that you can't talk to your friends. Every staff person there is such a joy. Karly the Manager is about the best Manager I've ever met at any restaurant. Her staff loves her!
