I finally had a chance to try Zaxby's now that they are being built throughout Maryland - boy, was it good! Had a simple chicken tender combo with fries and cole slaw. Everything was tasty, I'd get the same meal today. The tenders were hot, fresh, and well seasoned - though they were a bit on the smaller side compared to other chicken spots. The fries were hot, crunchy, and had delicious seasoning on them. Service was quick and the spot was clean. I look forward to my next visit for some tenders. read more

Sounds like this place was off to a rough start when they first opened. But to an extent, this comes as no surprise being the first one to open in the entire state of Maryland (with more to come soon). Even before the fast food chicken wars that have exploded lately because of the epic surplus of similar fast food restaurants that have popped up around the burbs, I have always loved Zaxby's. I remember first discovering them on a road trip with a high school friend of mine, and I always look forward to the rare occasion that I would have them. Later on, it became annual when I knew I'll be within 10 minutes of them from Smash Con and could enjoy them. A few weekends ago, I went with a couple of friends and we all shared a tinder combo. Now, compared to other tenders in the area, theirs are relatively tiny. But the taste is unmatched. And that coleslaw and the fries that come with it... Whew! They're so flavorful! Now, the toast is fine, not as great as other places, but they make up for that with everything else. Many people have also complained about the service, but it was very fast for us. I'm looking forward to a Zaxby's opening closer to home, because that is one place I will have more often as my guilty pleasure meal. We visited this location due to someone telling us about it. I'm sorry but the first impression was not the best impression. Maybe because it was around 7ish. The place was packed but there was no organization. People were standing in the area where you order food as if they were waiting to order. Others were just standing around and I got my order before several people who were there before me. The food was hot which is a positive and the fries were seasoned. But, the sandwiches as well as the wings had No Flavor. So, I guess the sauce holds all the flavor (this ain't the country way to cook). The wait is a lil long for chicken and you must listen closely for your name to be called. But, everyone standing around were nice and we struck up several conversations. I was super excited to see a Zaxbys coming to town. I enjoyed them for many years when I lived in Georgia. The first day I tried to go the line wasn't moving at all so after about 5 minutes I left. Yesterday I tried again and waited about 30 minutes before getting my food. But I too extend grace because it's new and the crowd will eventually dissipate and the service should improve. I will say the lady who gave me the food was very nice, pleasant and chatted with me while I waited. When I got home I enjoyed the meal. The grilled chicken Cobb salad was yummy, especially paired with the lite vinaigrette dressing. I also had a wing and things with sweet and spicy wings, chicken strips, and crinkle cut fries. The fries could have used a bit of salt but I hooked that up myself. The chicken strips were good and the wings were great. The Zax sauce was meh. Not sure when this location actually opened because I'm very new to the area, but supposedly it's been very recent. This was my 4th attempt because the line for the drive thru is always so long and inside as well. The service was fine. I had traditional wings combo, which was good. I believe I was given the wrong order because it was plain chicken tenders as well, but I was on my lunch break and didn't want to wait any longer than I had been for a new order. I finally made it to Zaxbys in Waldorf, Md. The drive thru was very overwhelming, so I decided to go inside. Looks quite big on the outside, however the inside is kinda tight. There was a line inside, however went faster than I thought, didn't take long at all to get the food. I ordered the 10 piece lemon pepper wings and the buffalo blue cheese salad.... Where do I start... The wings have a good lemon pepper taste, but they were quite tiny, and fried toooo dern hard, which made them dry. I don't like oversized wings, but them some baby chickens! That salad....Too much lettuce, not enough chicken and other additives, which I can't remember because there weren't much. The 2 dressings just aren't enough for the amount of lettuce you get... dry. And I don't even like a lot of dressing, but you'll need it n this salad. BTW... that garlic toast... terrible. So the least to say... I was very disappointed. We get Zaxbys in NC from time to time and were looking forward to having one locally. Tyyyppiiically, they have delicious salads, dressings, wings, fries, sauces, and shakes plus friendly team members that get the orders out quick in my experience from going to North Carolina's locations. I've been to this one a few times since they opened and there's always a long wait, missing, cold, or incorrect parts of the order, and a longer wait accompanied with a headache to get those order corrected or made fresh. I don't think this is solely attributed to them being newly opened and garnering an overwhelming number of customers, as much as there appear to be lots of areas of opportunity for increased and improved training from the management who don't seem like they have a great handle on things, the front of the house that often aren't the friendliest and are easily confused with taking fairly simple and straight forward orders, and lastly the kitchen team making the food and drinks inconsistently. I hope things are smoothed out for them in a year or 2 but zaxbys is on the pricier side to have as many issues as Waldorf's location has been having. read more

Was excited to finally have a Zacksby's in the DMV. They've only been open for a couple months and the lines STAY wrapped around the parking lot. I will give it some grace I've been here twice. The first time I ordered via the app thinking it would be faster- but waited a good 30 to 40 minutes for our food. I actually came back a week later and just waited in the drive through line and it moved pretty fast. I will say the customer service has been on point for both of my visits. Zacksby's still has dome of the best milkshakes and fries and the lemon pepper...chef's kiss. Hopefully they will maintain that standard at this location well! read more

I have been to this Zaxby's a few times since it opened, and I decided to provide a review today. First of all the lines are always long, however that can be seen as good and bad depending on one's perspective. The food is what you would expect of Zaxby's, however this evening when I went through the drive thru I was unpleasantly surprised by the service. The young lady working the drive through window lacked any element of customer service. When I pulled up I don't remember her saying hello, and when she gave me my food, I said thank you and she didn't even look in my direction to say you're welcome or thank you. With that being said, customer service goes a long way and it was totally lacking tonight!! read more

Extend grace! Pack your patience and please be kind to staff. Visited Zaxby's today and the drive thru line was long but the parking lot was moderate with open spaces, so my sister and I parked and went inside to order. We were excited to try this new spot and enjoyed the food and customer service. We ordered the chicken tender platter with fries and the food was nice and hot and came out promptly. It's a new location and will take time to settle but all and all, we had a great experience and look forward to returning. read more

Zero stars. Let's talk about customer service . I arrived at 9:52. Set in line behind 7 cars reviewing the menu excited to place my order. At 10:01 it's finally my turn and only to hear "We are no longer taking orders. " Before I set in line for 10 mins you should have closed the line with a cone. We had a terrible experience at the Zaxby's in Waldorf and I will not be returning. We placed a curbside order an hour ahead of time scheduled for pickup at 8:30 PM. When we arrived, we checked in on the app and parked in the first curbside pickup spot. After about 10 minutes with no acknowledgment, we checked in again. Still nothing. During this time, I watched two employees come out of the building -- one from the front and one from the side door near the curbside spots. One employee literally walked outside, saw me sitting in the curbside pickup spot, made eye contact, and then slowly backed back inside and shut the door. When I went to open the door, it was locked. It was only 8:50 PM, and the lobby doesn't close until 9:00 PM. There were multiple customers outside trying to get in and others waiting for curbside orders as well. At that point I started trying to find corporate's phone number because no one was acknowledging the curbside orders and the lobby was locked early. My friend -- who placed the order and is nine months pregnant -- was eventually able to get inside while I stayed outside calling corporate to explain what was happening. Once inside, instead of helping her, the employees were standing behind the counter talking to each other and ignoring customers while the drive-thru line was backed up to the street. When someone finally acknowledged her, they asked if she wanted to order. She explained she had been waiting 35 minutes for a curbside order. They asked for her name and then immediately slid the bag to her, which made it clear our food had been sitting there the entire time getting cold. To make things worse, the experience inside was just as disorganized. She had ordered four meals, yet they handed her three cups and two bags with no drink carrier and no additional bag to hold everything. When she asked for help at the drink station, an employee told her "it's at the front" with an attitude and walked off. Another customer who had been waiting for his own order actually had to step in and ask the staff to give her a bag and a drink holder so she could carry everything. To make things worse, part of the chicken wasn't even fully cooked, which is especially concerning considering she is pregnant. I called corporate at 8:57 PM while we were still outside because the doors were already locked and customers were stuck outside. I even sent the screenshot of that call to the franchise owner. His response was essentially that he reviewed the cameras and claimed the doors weren't locked until 9:02 PM, and offered to replace the meal. That response doesn't address the real issue. If the doors were not locked until 9:02, why was I calling corporate at 8:57 because we couldn't get inside? There were also multiple other customers outside at the time. Blaming a "technical issue with the app" also doesn't add up when an employee literally came outside, saw me sitting in the first curbside spot, and walked right back inside. This was a complete failure of basic customer service, communication, and food safety. The situation was handled poorly by both the staff and management. I will not be returning to this location and would not recommend it to anyone. read more

Opened too soon. I tried it and was disappointed. Pros: Egg rolls were tasty. Strawberry lemonade was good. Cons: I was given the wrong salad order, no dressing, and no utensils. I also ordered a nibbler. It and the salad looked messy and thrown together. The chicken tender was good, but the presentation and lack of utensils and dressing ruined the meal. I was excited to finally have a Zaxby's in the area, but my first visit was a letdown. I spent a significant amount of time waiting in a very long drive-thru line. When an order taker finally walked up to my car, they didn't have a menu or any visual aids to show what's available. Since this brand is brand new to our community, I told the employee I needed to see a menu to know what to order. I was told they didn't have any on hand and was just pointed toward a QR code further up the line. It's frustrating to wait that long and then be expected to scramble onto a website while the line is moving. I ended up leaving without ordering. They definitely need better tools for their staff if they're going to take orders mid-line. read more

Zaxby's Don't go there!! At least not yet, Zaxby's are unable to handle the crowd!! The drive thru is way down the street. It took 1 hour to be able to get inside to order to only be told that it was a 2 hour wait AFTER getting the money. We got our money back and left. I'm sure the quality of the food is rushed, so we'll wait a month or more before returning. If I could rate 0 I would rate 0. The app requires at least 1, so I'm forced to rate 1. read more

The lemon pepper tenders and the salad were good, but the wait in drive thru was so long. Even mobile order had me sitting for over 30 minutes. It makes me wonder if they cook to order, because it should not take that long to get an order. It reminded me of the Wendy's where Cava is now. Food was awful. Asked for extra seasoned fries, they gave me plain fries that tasted like cardboard. ordered a large peach ice tea and they put 1 squirt of peach syrup as if that was going to change the flavor. The chicken fingers were dry and no amount of Zac sauce was going to change that. All in all stay away from this Zaxby's location. Horrible. Workers are not doing any drive-thru control thus the line spills out of the shopping center into the highway. This is dangerous and will soon cause an accident as I saw multiple almost happen at the four way stop coming into the shopping center. The company should have done better analysis on the area they're coming to. The employees just congregated together laughing, on their phones, and playing around. No orders being taken despite holding the little tablets in their hands. Two employees in black zip ups (assuming managerial staff of some sort) left the property went across the street to their cars to hit their vapes together... There is only one way in and one way out at this location because the building used to be a bank. I recommend parking across the street and going inside. Food was good, tasted just like it does at their other locations in the south so no complaints about the food. Just a really really long wait. I recommend coming when they know what they're doing and get some practice in. We got there around 11:45am and we didn't get food until 1:15ish. I can't imagine how it is in the late afternoon. read more
