Long wait decent food but overpriced for the quality. The cost for the 4 of us was 120 pounds I would expect better food and service for those prices. There were 2 groups who were seated after us and they both ate before us. Nice environment if my bill was 30 percent lower and service 40 percent faster id give it five stars. read more

Zayna has amazing food with a lot of really interesting north Indian and Pakistani dishes you don't normally find in London. Both the meat and vegetarian options were great and nothing like the usual substandard fare in your neighborhood Indian restaurant. It was expensive (~£105 for 2 people with wine) but soooo worth it. Definitely book as it gets quite crowded. The atmosphere is a bit bland but the food is phenomenal. read more

The food was ok. I wouldn't complain about it, but wouldn't say it's great either (tip for San Francisco folks: if you eaten at Amber or Dosa, just skip this one. It's not worth your time). What was awful though is the service. The person who was taking care of us was just rude for no reason and it totally spoiled our dinner. I'll start by saying the food was delicious. Flavorful and various options with Pakistani influence. However, for the portions, they were more expensive than they should have been. I'll blame the Churchill area for the high price. When asked for water, the only options given we're either still or sparkling. Bad on my part for assuming we'd just get tap; I got a bottle of still water. No warning that it would cost extra unless I specified tap. So one star down for that. The staff was friendly, though one in particular was "too friendly" to my female dining partner. Was awkward to say the least. Also a mention to any and all staff, never call a woman brassy, broad, cheeky nor hard to please. Minus two more stars. Overall, the food alone was good and though I'm traveling the city, if I was staying longer, I doubt I'll revisit. Of you plan on going, be sure to bring your credit card, your first born to cover the bill, and removing your emotion chip to avoid the uncomfortable feeling of an overly flirty server. read more

Walking the street 9/12/12, rainy evening in London. Lone diner. I was advised to go here by one of the staff at the hotel. I am glad I did. As I was peering into the window, deciding if I should, the owner came out and insisted I come in (even though a party of 1). The food was excellent The specialty of the house is a lamb dish which was so tender. I could not finish it and was flying back to NY the next day. they packed it well for me and I brought it home. My son ate it the next day and said it was some of the best Indian food he ever had. read more

A jewel of a place. Tiny inside but very friendly I had the samosas, some kind of green chicken that was succulent and the recommended lamb gosh plate all of which was fantastic. I think the lamb portion is meant for two but it was so good I ate the whole thing. The garlic naan was excellent, very buttery and tasty and went well with the lamb dish. At the end of the meal the server accidentally spilled splashed a bit of water on me. He felt bad about it so he gave me their handmade pistachio/cashew ice cream. Wonderful neighborhood restaurant. Only a few tables in a small room, but simple, aromatic flavors fill the air. Chaat and Murghs were all delicious. Open late on Friday night. read more

The food was very nice and I would give it 4 stars. Unfortunately our party accepted a table downstairs which lacks atmosphere though has the advantage of being very close to the Gentlemen's. In addition, the waiter was seemingly uninterested in his work and not very attentive. read more

This is our second time at Zayna and we were not disappointed. My husband and I love Indian food, and this is some of the best we've had anywhere. The restaurant is easy to reach by tube, it does take reservations and while it's a relatively small space the noise level is not a problem and it is conducive for a pleasant conversation while eating the deliciously prepared plates. The prices seem right and we will certainly go back for #3. read more

Great Indian and fantastic service. The mango lassi was very smooth and a great way to start the meal. had three dishes: Mukhun Murgh, Jheenga Baati and the Beef Karahi. All dishes were cooked perfectly and the owner engaged in healthy conversation with the guests throughout the meal. I love Indian food, and have tried lots of different places traveling around. Just got back from dinner at Zayna and I have to say that it was one of the best Indian meals I've had. You have to try the vegetarian dishes (got them as appetizer..!), the Shahi Palak (spinach) and the Lahori Chunay (chickpeas) were unbelievable! we then got some lamb and chicken..same amaziness! On top of that, service was great, with polite and competent waiters and cozy tables. Must go! read more

We made reservations at Zayna based on the reviews of the food and the nice ambiance of the restaurant. When we got there, on time, at 8PM on a Wednesday, we were led through the vibrant, colorful dining room (which was full) and downstairs into a small, cramped room that was completely devoid of character. White tile floors, cheap tables and chairs, no ambiance whatsoever. There was only one server for several tables in this basement room, and he was enthusiastic but seemed inexperienced and overworked, so the service was spotty at best. The food was generally very good, though our server insisted we get the Mukhun Murgh (their rendition of chicken tikka masala). We did, and it was quite mediocre, easily the worst item we ordered. The Murgh Taka Tuk and the grilled paneer, on the other hand, were outstanding. We also ordered the Kastoori Tikka, Malai Boti, and Shahi Palak, all of which were very good. However, this quality of Indian food can be found in many, many lower-end places in London, at far lower cost. What makes Zayna worth paying the extra for is the elegance of the environment. If you sit upstairs, you get that. But if they take you to their basement, you are basically eating in a dive joint that has less ambiance than most hole-in-the-wall Indian restaurants in London. If you go here, be sure not to let them take you to their basement. read more
