Awful experience, I've spent more money here than I care to admit between personal and corporate orders. But I ordered ahead and paid online. When I got to the store, they had given me food to someone else. I understand mistakes happen, but somehow within an hour of opening, they completely ran out of the soup I ordered. I was told I could wait 45 minutes or I need to pick something else. I asked for a refund and the employee and manager refused to do that, telling me I need to talk to the owner. I asked for something in writing to prove this, but was refused. I later I spoke with the owner, because I called him, he was aware of the situation but apparently didn't care to be proactive and reach out to me. I will absolutely admit I was upset and told him they need to deliver to me. I did raise my voice but never used profanity or threats, however James continuously interrupted and spoke over me. Telling me that he won't listen to abuse, when I asked him to clarify what abuse, he would not answer. Rather than speaking to a woman who has an opinion and concern, it felt as through James instead used buzz words in attempts to silence me. And when questioned, he could or would not support his allegation. The owner James refused to do that and told me "I'm the owner I could just tell you to take your money somewhere else." And that as the owner he can't "get in trouble". I asked him repeatedly to email me a summary of our discussion as he continued to say he would pressed the button right then to refund me. I haven't been refunded and James refused to put his words in writing. But was more than happy to tell me multiple times that he's the owner and there isn't anything I could do and to take my money somewhere else. Apparently a local business owner in a pandemic is more than happy to have customers take their money other places and so far, as I haven't gotten a refund, it feels like, maybe they don't worry about customers business because they will just steal from you, at least that's how it feels to me when someone takes your money and refuses to provide the product you paid for. This is wholly my experience as accurately and complete as I can account to date. James made his position quite clear and would rather people take business elsewhere. I would say take their money else where but so far, James and Zoup has only stolen money from me. read more

Tried Zoup! for the first time tonight. We ordered online for pickup; the food was ready at the appointed time. We ordered a wide variety of food (5 different soups + a few sandwiches) to try it out. The sandwiches were better than I expected and we'll return for that portion of the menu - if the review ended here I would probably give 4 or 5 stars. Unfortunately, the rest of our order (soup + bread) just was not up to par. We love soup. Love. The Mulligatawny was very good and my husband devoured it. The chicken pot pie was tasty if a bit thick (really was like eating a chicken pot pie sans crust, not soup). The others were just... not good. We left the majority of the other three soups (clam chowder, lobster bisque, and broccoli cheddar) uneaten. The bread was also lack luster (cold, no real crust to the french or sourdough). Found a small rolled up piece of plastic bag or somthing in the soup. Was totally grossed out and will never go there again. This was very disapointing because the soup tasted good. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. -5 stars if I could. I have now been twice since it recently opened. I was looking forward to this place, as I have been to one before. THIS LOCATION WILL NOT LAST - they can't get their act together. Not to mention the layout of the place and order line is confusing and customers don't know where to stand. Visit 1- Sunday evening. Hardly busy. Only 3 other tables already in there. Only one order ahead of us. The workers were SO SLOW and don't know what they're doing. There never seems to be anyone in charge?! It doesn't seem like it would take long or be hard to pour 3 bowls of soup - especially with only one order ahead of you. Maybe because the teenager behind the counter was too busy taking selfies and Snapchats with his girlfriend customer. 15 minutes later, they called for our meal - which was missing bread and was messed up. That could be because the girl working the register had no idea what she was doing.. Was incredibly slow, and had to keep asking for help. Again, with no manager around! Soup ended up being cold because they let it just sit on the counter for 6 minutes. POORLY RUN AND TERRIBLE SERVICE. This is not acceptable when the place is practically empty! No excuse! Visit 2- just now for lunch. Arrived at 11:30 to try and beat the rush. Got there just before a line started to form. Once again, the cashier had NO IDEA what they were doing and had to ask the other workers for help. WHERE IS YOUR MANAGER?! Placed my order to go. It was a TryTwo! Combo - cup of soup and a turkey club. I stood there and watched at the pickup counter as I waited. SO UNORGANIZED?! but more importantly, SO SLOW? I look at places like Panera (which is right across the street) or Noodles and Company (practically next door) and their employees are diligent, hard working, fast and EFFICIENT! Not working at a "turtle pace". They're organized and work as a team. Not Zoup. This time my order didn't take as long as my first visit. My order was called and I grabbed my bag and headed home. NOTE: DOUBLE CHECK YOUR ORDERS! Mine was wrong! They gave me the wrong soup. It is very frustrating to me that they can make such a mistake WHEN THEY'RE NOT EVEN RUSHED OR WORKING FAST. I could understand if they were swamped with orders and every employee was running around trying to get them made -- but they weren't. I could understand if a line was out the door and the place was super crowded causing a stress or problems. But it wasn't! I tried to contact corporate online, but this location isn't even listed yet as an option to review (probably because it's still so new). That's how badly I wanted to inform corporate of how much intervention this place needs. I'm so disappointed. I was looking forward to this place opening. The service is so terrible I won't be going back. Good thing Panera is right next door! I doubt this place will last until Christmas. Which is so unfortunate. read more

SO SLOW! Do not come to this place unless you have an hour or 2 to kill. We waited 20 minutes to order a bowl of soup, then waited another 25 minutes for them to scoop the pre-made into a bowl and call my name. Yes, you read that correctly I WAITED 45 MINUTES FOR A CUP OF PREMADE SOUP! Their whole business setup makes no sense. You walk in, a guy offers you samples. Then you go to the cashier to order and pay. Then someone else gets your soup and calls your name. Why cant the guy offering you soup samples put the soup you want in a bowl at the time you walk by? A colleague and I stopped in for lunch today for the first time. Staff was extra friendly and encouraged us to sample as many soups as we wanted. There were many soup offerings as well as a wide variety of sandwich and salad options. I had the Power Quinoa with Kale salad and it was fresh, crisp and delicious. The restaurant recently opened and clearly some adjustments need to be made. The line grew to more than ten customers deep shortly after we had ordered just before noon. The wait would have made me consider visiting a popular nearby establishment instead. The preparation time after ordering was extended but customers stood by waiting without complaining beyond a mumble to others in their party. One additional staff person joined the service line once the wait time grew but more were needed. My order was missing a salad despite having been read back correctly by the cashier but the mistake was satisfactorily corrected. The soda fountain failed to dispense an acceptable drink mixture. I had to toss a lemonade because he balance of syrup and carbonate water was off. I tried a cherry coke next and it too needed adjustment--far too little syrup. I felt badly for the new startup so I didn't bring it too the attention of the staff. I've been so lengthy in my review in hopes that the management will read the review and take actions to improve. read more

Amazing restaurant with staff that truly take time for each customer. We went in twenty minutes before closing yesterday with a group of 8 and the staff took their time helping each customer with free samples and explaining the menu items. I'm going to give the Woodridge location 3 stars in hopes that this newly opened location can work out the kinks & if it does, I would gladly give them 5 stars. My 1st visit was on a Friday around 11:10 am (I didn't want to be the 1st person but wanted to try to beat the lunch rush). Upon entering the line to order, I was pleasantly greeted by an offering of samples. I chose to sample the Rattlesnake Sausage Stew because I'm adventurous & love trying new things plus this is definitely not something you see on the menu everywhere you go. It was spicy, which I like & quite tasty so I ordered a side. I also ordered the 3 cheese pesto sandwich & a side of lobster bisque. Both of those were equally delicious. The food alone was deserving of at least 4 stars but what I had a few issues with were the ordering process, wait time & my order was slightly screwed up (they forgot one of the soups & bread that went with it even though it was on the receipt they used to get my order together). I entered the store at 11:10 am, placed my order at 11:24 am (14 minutes just to place my order???) but did not receive my food until almost 11:50 am. (Almost a 1/2 hour wait just to get my food? My lunch break is only 30 minutes. Good thing I went on my day off). Granted, there were about 10 people ahead of me but every single one of us endured the long wait. I recommend that management/corporate fix the ordering process to help expedite the entire process. My suggestion would be to have the person offering samples also be the person taking the order, that way bowls of soup can be poured and salads & sandwiches be already started & possibly finished by the time a customer reaches the cashier. I get & appreciate that salads & sandwiches are not made until ordered but there is a huge disconnect & valuable time wasted from the time a customer enters & finally receives their order. I feel that if these issues are not addressed, customers will jump ship quickly & patronize a similar yet well established restaurant in very close proximity. read more

Usually when I have a bad experience, I vent to my friends and family, but I had an experience tonight that I feel the need to share on social media. Tonight, I was kicked out of Zoup and, apparently banned. What horrible thing did I do? I asked the owner to please cook my cold sandwich. I ordered tomato soup and a 3 cheese and pesto sandwich. The sandwich came cold, with cold pesto, and non-melted cheese. I went back and quietly asked if they could put my sandwich in the oven. The owner said he would make a fresh sandwich. 10-15 minutes later, he came over to my table with a "hot" sandwich; unfortunately it was a Tuscan chicken sandwich. He said "give us another chance; we'll get it right eventually." I told him I had already been there for a half hour and had someplace to be and asked for my money back. He mumbled something and walked away. When my husband was done eating his meal, we cleaned off our table, and I walked back up to the counter to ask if I was going to get my money back. He told me "yes, but you'll need to wait. I have other customers to take care of." I said, "I've been here for half an hour, and you never gave me what I ordered." I didn't raise my voice or express anger, but I was upset and firm. He told me that I could "Step out" and "Next time, go to Noodles and Company". When I said "What?" he told me, "That's right, get out now." I looked at his name tag and he said, "Yup, I'm the owner. There's no one else to complain to. Now get out and don't come back." Needless to say, I will not be back. And hopefully no one who reads this review will be either. Sadly, the very friendly seeming owner is not as kind as he seems. This place is great!! People need to be more understanding that this place is NEW! Yes there are always kinks to work out when a place opens for the first time, I have never had a bad experience here and I have been 5 times (during lunch rush/dinner rush a few of the times). I do not believe the wait time is long, but even if it is, it is understandable when it is a busy time for them and they are all new employees working as fast as they can. They have a great selection of soups and sandwiches (lobster bisque is one of the best soups I have ever tasted and their baked potato soup could give Panera a run for their money). Just give them a try before reading and taking into account the negative reviews until you've had them at least once. You won't regret it! read more
