This is my favorite coffee shop in Seattle and I hit it every morning. Free wi-fi, rotating art exhibits, groovy music and really great coffee, snacks, and fresh juices. The space is perfect and shows a ton of attention to detail. They have concrete floors, exposed brick walls, vaulted rough wood ceilings. If you go in there, make sure to check out the track lighting because it's bad-ass - halogen bulbs on wooden hangers with exposed metal clips that look like jumper cables at each light location. read more

The atmosphere was clean, and the design aesthetic pleasing. They were busy midmorning on a tuesday (I see as a good sign of popularity). The music was a touch loud, but the cashier was polite, the barista was speedy, and most importantly the mocha was good quality. Mozzarella sandwich is delish! This place is right across from my office, so I go there a lot. The food is great, the coffee is good and the aesthetic is funky, yet comfortable. I would give Zeitgeist 5 stars; however, there is this one girl who works there who NEVER smiles. Whenever I look at her, I just think "torturously emo" and it sort of ruins my experience. Coffee taste great. I'm from California and I'm into coffees. I came to waahington around and saw Zeit Geist (time-ghost literally) usually when I find a store with a German name, I like to check it out. Place was sort of crowded. Anyway, I was waiting in line and some dude with long hair asked "what can I get for you" and in my head I was like "I'm not at the cashier yet but if you are going to take my order then sure" so I told him what I wanted and got coffee beans. Because I felt bad that he may have asked me if I wanted any breads, and I felt dumb for giving him my order, I decided to tip because they had to put up with that. But at the same time I knew I'm not from Washington and it's my first time going in the store. Anyway, once my coffee was finished, nothing was announced, it was just sitting there. I sure ass hell was not going to take the wrong drink, so I asked the same guy if the drink I had was the iced mocha, because you can't visually see if it is or isn't or if someone else in the store ordered it. He ignored me until I asked again and he said "YEEs" as if I was annoying him... Writing a review so whoever goes in can expect assholeness all around. read more

Slowest rudest service ever. They staff does not get customer service or how to run a coffee shop! It took 9 mins to get a latte with ONE drink ahead of me. One of the best interiors of any cafe I have been in. Great 1930s decor, exposed brick and wood and a very roomy feel. Good coffee too. I went on a working day at 5pm and it was fairly empty. Might be crowded at other times. I'll be back. read more

Grabbed a dark mocha here today. Of the two employees, one was super friendly, the other was not. So your mileage may vary. So smooooth. Rarely visit this part of town, but went here twice recently with a visiting relative. I tried their latte and dark mocha. Both good but the latte is outstanding. Staff is friendly. Didn't get the "hipster" vibe from them. If you want that cheerleading barista crap go to Starbucks. Interior is nice enough, it's a large space with high ceiling and exposed beams/brick, but I prefer cozier coffee shops. Highly recommend. read more

I work very close to Zeitgeist and the coffee is great! The service is pretty slow and there is typically a long line. I've spent several meetings in line and then we get our coffee to go - not exactly ideal. But if you're not in a hurry, or if you catch them in a lull, it's great and the employees are very nice! read more

I always kept going to zeitgeist because they have good coffee, but I've never received friendly service. They don't smile at you. To be honest, the baristas are pretty mean. I decided I won't be going back after I asked if there was soy in my drink (which there wasn't because she forgot it) and the girl with the weird haircut that has hair chopped off in random places, went off on me about how I shouldn't use figurative questions? It was weird and I was in shock while she went off on me for something she messed up. I won't go back and something needs to change with the people that work there. read more

This place blows. I've tried it a number of times, and I'm getting a little fed up - so Zeitgeist, you and I are over. The coffee is OK - it's not that great. I get a little depressed from the darkness of this place, but that's really not it. It's the snarky, unfriendly baristas. What is up with that? Hormones? Went there for the first time today. Ordered a white chocolate americano and it tasted like water... I loved the vibe and thought it would be amazing but I was disappointed and kinda wanted my tip back. I'd stay away from their espresso drinks and get something like a hot chocolate because it tastes like some burnt stumptown coffee. I also went there a bit later in the day so I couldn't try any pastries or sandwiches but I'll probably be back if I'm ever in the area again. read more
