Zen Curry West has been one of my favorite spots for years. The curry is consistently delicious and always hits the spot. We also had the miso soup and gyoza this evening, and both were excellent. What keeps me coming back is the warm service and being met with friendly smiles each time. Carrie and Bex were so accommodating and lovely tonight, They're kind, attentive, and genuine, and I'm glad I came back tonight! Good luck Bex, and congrats on your second day working here! Everything looks the part, almost smells the part, but the Tonkatsu and Chicken Katsu was overcooked, again. The service is great, and the restaurant overall is clean. I wouldn't recommend this location because it's not on par to the one in Chinatown.

Open spacing and very cute decor in the store. The booth seat were comfortable and service was really quick. Food was even quicker as well, they offer mostly curry but also have some sides like sushi rolls and ramen. And now they offer a Japanese style breakfast from 9-1pm I believe, I went too late in the day to try it but it did look good. I ordered my usual curry of beef with white rice and lvl 8 spice. It holds a kick but not enough to make me cry! a 10/10 as usual!

Never like Japanese curry. But this time I have changed my opinion. I had the curry ramen and it was delicious. The curry was added quite a bit of sweetness and it worked really well with the spiciness. Japanese curry usually doesn't have much kick nor aroma but this added a lot of flavor, also Japanese spicy ramen usually is simply spicy (even spicy curry ramen), it would have been so spicy that I would sweat but it was still just spicy. The chicken Katsu was over fried, would have been better with pork katsu.

Create Your Own Curry: large, with brown rice, spice level 5, and tofu katsu, was $17.70 from the dine-in menu. It was prepared with no vegetables, but could be added for an additional $3.50 ($21.20 total). The tofu katsu was good, but I could have eaten more, which is available for an additional $4.00 ($25.20). So, when you really get down to it, their pricing is expensive. Vegetables should be automatic, not an extra fee. This penalizes, rather than encourages, vegetable consumption from their menu. The curry is served with a surprising amount of sauce, which I think would be an extra amount for an additional price. I would rather have a regular amount of sauce with mushrooms or vegetables added to it with no extra price. I asked if the Spicy Miso Ramen was made with vegan broth, but our server didn't know the answer, and a manager wasn't available to get that information from. For dessert, we had sorbet, for $4 each. It was served in the plastic container, which we had to open ourselves. I could just go to the store, purchase that myself, and eat it at home. It doesn't make sense for a restaurant to serve a packaged food item directly from the store shelf. The food itself is very good. They are generous with the curry sauce. The dine-in service was great. The restaurant is casual, but lacks elegant decor to help justify the high pricing.

K and I went for a weekend lunch. Pretty busy but we were able to get a table right away. First time here so we weren't sure what to try but went with shumai and karaage as appetizer. Shumai was solid but karaage was delicious and I really enjoyed it. I didn't use the spicy mayo since the chicken was very tasty on its own. K got the curry moco with level 4. It was a little hotter than he expected but he still ate most of it and had some leftover to take home. I got the katsudon with the chicken substituted. It was good but I don't know why I didn't get something with curry since it was my first time there lol (I'm usually a mild so I couldn't try K's curry loco). We will definitely visit again so I'll be sure to get a curry dish!

I was there around 2 pm, only 2 or 3 tables has customers. Only 1 server over there. I was ordered a bowl of soup until I finished my foods I never had my soup but the soup still on the receipt until I notice the server she just realized it. I had Naan Curry, like 4 court pieces they charged for $5. How the Naan tasting bad like, even you going to Trader Joe's buy frozen Naan out into bake to toasting it, better then this. I only tried one piece and left all on the table. The foods waiting so longer. This Curry place was my favorite one. First time to try this location. They have 3 locations this one is worst one. I ordered curry for spicy level 7, even I never teasing any spicy. Better going to Spring Mountain location.

Super tasty curry! Ordered takeout and it was ready pretty fast. Curry was flavorful and chicken katsu was juicy. Got spicy level 1 and it actually was quite spicy. If you cant handle even a low spice, get it without any spice. Regular size was solid for lunch, had leftovers for later. Also ordered fried oysters which were also delicious and hot. read more

Our waitress was so sweet and suggested a lot of great items! We tried the corchata (?) coffee with horchata drink, and a fresh hibiscus drink. My husband got a fried shrimp curry with corn, cheese and a fried egg. I got the vegetable curry with fried katsu tofu, corn and cheese. Both served with white rice. Both were really good and super filling. We both for the regular but easily could have gotten the small for serving size. New location, same curry goodness. I absolutely love the Zen curry in Chinatown and this new location is just as good. I ordered the large curry with brown rice, cheese, pork katsu, and croquette. The curry itself is velvety with a rich rounded flavor that you can only get from making curry from scratch. All the fried toppings were perfectly crispy and a great complement to the curry. I went with spice level 6 which I wouldn't necessarily call spicy, more of just a pleasant tingle with every bite. This new restaurant is also nice and roomy with great service and I think the food was coming out faster than I remember at the old location. Overall great experience! read more

I arrived a little early and they were already full up! The place is popular and with good reason. I added our part of 2 to the list and we waited maybe 10 minutes. So cute and authentic inside. Tables turned over fairly quickly. The staff is super friendly and efficient. They were there to guide and help us with menu choices and offer recommendations. I went with the pork katsu set that included soup, rice, piles of shredded cabbage, my main pork cutlet, and some pickles. The cabbage and soup is AYCE which was a nice offering though I didn't need it. I also got salmon poke with yuzu which was tart and so fresh. Recommended. My lunch date order Katsu Chicken Curry. The food is outstanding. Every bite elicited a "Mmm" from me as the soup broth was deep and savory. The pork was perfectly cooked, crispy outside, juicy and tender on the inside. I love the shredded cabbage. Their Katsu sauce is delicious and you get to grind your own sesame seeds which impart a crazy delicious, nutty texture. The Katsu Chicken Curry was also excellent. I would struggle next time to pick one over the other. There are plenty of places to find Katsu but none compare to Katsu Ya Ton Ton for perfecting this really tasty dish. Highly recommended!

I ordered the shrimp tempura and spam curry. It was breaded and fried to perfection, the spice level was a 7 and it had a decent kick I definitely could have done a 10, but I love spicy! We ordered the curry udon to go, and I am excited to try it later today. Yes we ordered to go because it's that good! The staff is friendly and very attentive. Our drinks and food were brought out promptly. Highly recommend! I don't often post but I truly felt like this place needed a shoutout. So we went to Tora, we hadn't been here for ages and since they have several of my favorite dishes, we figured why not... Ashley was our server and was running the register as well. Seating was quick, lively music vibe, perfect for lunch. We ordered takoyaki (IYKYN what these are) as an app. Some of the best I've had . My meal was the "hire" katsu teishoku (teishoku means set or complete meal) with cold water noodles . The "hire" katsu was more robust and a bit fattier than the plain katsu. The meal comes with a shredded cabbage salad, a small piece of tofu wit sauce . Another feature that lends to the authenticity is the little grinder bowl with sesame seeds and the muddler. You pulverize your sesame and then they bring a pitcher of tonkatsu sauce to add. My pork was fatty delicious the panko was light and crispy, the cold water noodles (a must have in summer time in Japan was great, good size serving on a plastic fake bamboo style made with a few ic cubes and a small bowl of soy to dip.... So cooling. I also ordered a side of curry to dip my katsu in. My dining companion had the tempura style shrimp teishoku ... with a side of rice and udon soup. The shrimp (5) were huge and totally crispy. We were stuffed when it was time to leave. By the way they serve alcohol, but we didn't partake. I imagine this place is pretty lively in the evening.. TL DR: I highly recommend this restaurant. Great food, great service, close to me. I love Zen Curry. I believe this is their second(?) location. This location is much closer to me so it makes it much more convenient to eat here. The food is always top notch. I highly recommend the chicken or port katsu curry. Their honey toast is also a very good dessert that is a huge portion, that is more than enough to share. The service is always very stellar. I feel like the service is personal, rather than corporate (like some restaurants). They also offer takeout and are on Uber Eats. Their menu says "alcohol coming soon" likely because of a pending liquor license, if that matters to you. Overall, highly recommend, great restaurant. I'm shocked its not more popular yet. read more

It's AMAZING here. We usually come to the location on spring mountain but this is much closer to us and has more space to fit everyone! The service is great, they are very attentive and always make sure we are doing all right. The food is my favorite. This is the only restaurant that I know that has katsu and it is my favorite restaurant restaurant to eat this dish. It's delicious. 10/10 recommend. Has that OG curry taste and the ambiance inside is unbeatable. They also have a few items here that the other locations don't have. All the ramens taste bomb and their service is exceptional.
