Stopped by this past Sunday for a late lunch, at around 145PM or so. There were no other tables besides ours so it wasn't busy at all. Came here mainly to try their curry omurice so I decided to go for their chicken katsu curry omurice while my husband went with their tonkatsu curry omurice. The chicken katsu was huge! It was thick, juicy, and tender. I really enjoyed this. The tonkatsu, however, was tough. It was not as good as the chicken in my opinion. Unfortunately, there was no option to choose how spicy you want your curry like many other curry places but they do have pepper powder at each table for you to use. My friend and I drowned our curry in pepper powder since we like it spicy. The curry was OK -- it ran on the sweeter side and doesn't carry as much depth as some places. There was a ton of rice with each plate. The omurice is just egg on top of white rice -- it's not really omurice. The rice had a good texture though, it was fluffy and plump. But since there was so much rice, there wasn't enough curry. By the time I was halfway through my meal, I barely had any curry left for the rest of my giant mountain of rice. Overall, it was decent. I don't think KARE would be our first choice if we want Japanese curry though.
Stopped by this place earlier this year. I said I would come back and I have! The service was good. I was immediately seated and given time to look at the menu. I ordered a chicken katsu curry bento box. This box comes with gyoza, salted edamame, miso, omurice, curry and then you get to pick your protein. The miso was nice and light and very quickly came after I placed my order. The gyoza was crispy on the edges and juicy. The katsu was crispy, tender and the cutlet was thick. The omurice was a little firmer than I'm used to but still silky. The curry has great flavor and there was a good amount. Honestly, so good and I had leftovers to take home. I was definitely satisfied!

Respect. Now the food: that katsu was crispier than my Wi-Fi at 3am. The curry sauce? Smooth, rich, and lowkey made me emotional. The omelette? So fluffy it could be a pillow -- but like, one you wanna eat. Only weird part? The place was empty. I was mentally prepared to elbow my way through a crowd, but nope -- just me, my meal, and some peaceful curry enlightenment. Go here before everyone else finds out.
Katsu curry spot in shanghai plaza that offers assorted katsu options such as pork and tempura with egg and curry! The servers are attentive and kind, and their shop is clen. For the katsu, sometimes the texture is a bit chewy. And the unagi is good but sometimes it's a bit mush. Overall, the flavors are nice.
This is a cute, quaint, little eatery located in Shanghai Plaza. Parking as a whole in this complex is gonna be rough whenever you go on a Friday night or the weekend... And we went on a Saturday night! Haha But onto the food rating. It's 5 Stars. Stop reading. You're done. Get here. No but seriously, if you're into curry flavors and fried proteins served over a bed of rice, this is the spot. Yes, we went when there was a grand opening special pricing for the curry plates, but I'd absolutely return to pay full retail ($5 more).
One of the better curry spots in town! The inside was cutely decorated and very calm music was playing - definitely very comfy vibes. The staff were super attentive and kept checking in from time to time. The curry was very flavorful and the katsu was super crispy! I think the curry to rice ratio could be a little better though. Our whole table had so much rice left over on their plates with no more curry. The unagi don was in a nice little bento and was worth getting. It was so juicy and the sauce over the rice just hits really good.
There are few meals more comforting than Japanese Curry. And man, did this place have a good ass curry. Like the restaurant itself; the menu is small. However, that doesn't mean that this place doesn't have anything to offer. For picky kids, there are still items like fries and chicken karaage on the menu. For curry lovers, though, you're in for a treat. You can select a protein, and the meal comes with a full plate of curry and a lovely egg atop a bed of rice. My partner was so into this curry that he'd take a bite, say "god damn," and then go in for his next bite. He LOVED this curry. I liked the variation of flavors and textures in each part of the dish, coalescing into a satisfying meal. The restaurant was very small, and despite it being moderately full at dinner time, it was never too loud. The servers were attentive and ensured our waters were kept nice and full. The price was decent too, practically ensuring a repeat visit. I'm certain i'll be returning.
It was my first time trying sweet curry rather than spicy and it's now one of my favorite foods. The food is simple, but delicious. Like others said it's never busy in there and I like how quiet and fast it is.
Had my eye on this for a while, been seeing their sign of their grand opening deal and decided to try it. It's a very quiet ambiance, I found myself whispering to talk to my table most of the time. It wasn't too busy when my group and I went to try this place, even when it was weekend dinner time. So we were seated pretty quickly. The service I think could be better, my group and I were waiting quite a while for our waiter to return back to our table so that we could order. There was another table that came in later than us and the waiter attended to that table for their order before us. For the food, it wasn't the best if I'm being honest. And I wasn't too happy with how the plate was presented. From the picture, this is how they served the plate to me, it's messy. Their katsu seems like it was pre-made and frozen, it didn't seem fresh. I'm glad I chose not to get the shrimp tempura because it seems like they use the pre-made frozen shrimp tempura and it doesn't look anything like the pictures that are on the menu. I don't have a problem with watery curry, but I didn't expect them to have two spice levels (which is mild and hot spicy, which they only had mild on this day). I got the mild curry and it was just very bland. The egg omelette was ok, nothing special about it. Overall, I think this place was ok. I don't think this would be the top of my reccommendations for Japanese curry places in Vegas but atleast I tried it.

Price doesn't include tip. Overall I enjoyed the food 5/5. Service 4.5/5 (didn't ask for mild or spicy until I got my order).
Japanese curry is one of those dishes I could eat everyday and not get tired of it. This place does it right! Simple menu, but they nailed what I look for in curry and what dishes surround them. I came here with friends and almost all of us ordered the chicken katsu curry omurice, with the exception of myself (I ordered the beef stew curry omurice). For about $15 a plate, it's great value and quality. Our table also ordered the corn milk soup and curry fries, both of which were quite nice as well. Service- on point, seated right away (no wait at the time), and attentive throughout. The space is quite small, so if you're planning to dine in I recommend checking in to see seating availability. Overall- 9/10 Will definitely come back. Just note curry is mostly served mild. Spicy option wasn't available when we visited.
What a nice little spot... a bit too quiet if that makes any sense... but the service was super friendly and the food is good! The fish Katsu Bento was wonderful! Curry hit the spot and the Katsu wasn't too greasy. Tasty.
Accidentally tried this Japanese curry house on Christmas Day for lunch because the first three places we tried to get in at 11am had more than an hour wait already, and this place still had tables available. We had a two and a half year old in our party and didn't think she could hold up waiting for so long. Surprisingly, it turned out to be an excellent choice! The restaurant decor is very simple but clean and pleasant. For four adults and a little girl, we ordered an Edamame, a Croquette, an Unagi Don, a Curry Omu with Pork Katsu, a Curry Omu with Shrimp Tempura, and a Curry Omu with Beef Stew. Everything was delicious! Their curry had a very nice flavor to it. The quality of the beef used in the beef stew was very good. And they certainly know how to make deep fried food: the batter was very light and fresh tasting. They seemed to replace their oil often. The Pork Katsu was crispy, juicy and tender. The Shrimp Tempura was crispy and fresh tasting. The Croquettes were also fluffy, crispy, and delicious. The Omu's (omelettes with rice) were really tasty and well-made. The Unagi Don was okay too, just not as outstanding as the Curry Omu's. We ended up ordering another one with Shrimp Tempura. Our little girl ate three big pieces of shrimp tempura. A couple of things they could improve on in my opinion: 1) add spicy levels for the curry, and 2) add a piece of Tamago to the Unagi Don as most restaurants do. Prices are really reasonable and affordable. Service is decent. I wish them well and hope they will thrive. It's a good addition to the Shanghai Plaza.

We were welcomed by very sweet employees, possibly the owners, which immediately made us feel comfortable. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, clean, and thoughtfully designed. With calming music playing in the background, it honestly felt like we were in a spa about to get a massage--so much so that it felt like we couldn't make any noise. lol. We ordered the bento box with chicken katsu and the chicken katsu omurice. The miso soup stood out in a good way--it tasted rich and comforting, not powdery like some miso soups can be. The chicken katsu was thick, juicy, and well-cooked, which we enjoyed. That said, the curry itself was just okay. It wasn't bad, but it didn't really wow us. The omurice also wasn't very exciting in terms of flavor. Overall, Kare is a clean, peaceful spot with a welcoming atmosphere and friendly service. It's a good option for curry if you're already in the plaza, though it wouldn't be my first choice if I were specifically craving curry. read more
Kare is a hidden gem in China Town Las Vegas! Everything restaurant in this plaza is always packed. So finding parking will be tough but it's still worth coming to check out! The service is so amazing. The server was friendly and greeted us with a smile. He was patient while we were deciding what to order and also stopped by to help us with anything we need. The restaurant isn't too big but can still hold a large party of 9 or 10 at most. Every entree we ordered was very good. Good portion size to share so you can try several dishes and the prices are very reasonable. The entrees all came out hot and the wait time was very reasonable. The curry sauce can also be mild so my son was able to enjoy it! I highly recommend the Katsu curry bento box, chicken katsu, and fish katsu. Made fresh and all the protein were tender. read more

Rating: 3.5/5 This place is located in Shanghai plaza where yummy rice used to be. I went during their soft opening where they had a $10 omurice deal. For $10 the curry was good but I wouldn't buy it at the full price of $15. There wasn't enough curry to eat all of my rice with which was disappointing. The flavors were alright and there are other places with more flavorful curry in Vegas. The chicken katsu itself was really good and it saved the dish in my opinion. 5 stars I've seen some mixed reviews about this place, but after visiting myself, I genuinely feel like this little Japanese curry spot deserves more love and support. First off, the customer service was actually really good. The waitress is soft-spoken, which some might misread as cold, but as an introvert, I really appreciated the quiet and calm vibe--it made the experience feel peaceful and unhurried. The curry itself? Amazing. Light, fluffy, and full of flavor. It's comforting without being too heavy, and the presentation was clean and thoughtful--clearly made with care. The restaurant has a cozy atmosphere, and knowing it's a family-owned business that's only been open for about 9 months makes me want to root for them even more. Places like this deserve community support, especially when they offer good food and a peaceful, welcoming environment. If you're looking for a calm spot to enjoy a warm plate of curry, I definitely recommend giving this place a try. read more

This was a rebrand from the old clay pot rice store at the same location with a new menu! They've got the same friendly crew and good attention to quality with a focused menu. The place and decor is clean. The food's delicious as always -- rooting for this place! read more
A quaint little restaurant in the Shanghai Plaza. The Japanese curry is good and well worth it to try. What I wish was offered were spice levels or topping add-ons. The curry itself had a great flavor and mild hint of something that gave it just enough oomf for the dish, had it been spicier it would've taken it to a new level. Service was great and attentive even if you're sitting alone in the seating area against the wall. Right now they're offering $9 katsu for dine-in only but must have two orders. Would come again, however, there are greater Japanese curry restaurants in the city I can recommend. read more

KARE is the new Japanese curry restaurant that just opened up inside Shanghai Plaza. They currently have a grand opening promotion where the curry entree's are $9.99 (need to order minimum of 2 curry entrees; appetizers do not count). My wife and I decided to stop by for lunch seeing there was no line. I opted for the fish katsu curry omu (tilapia) and my wife ordered the takoyaki and fried oysters. The fish katsu was okay. While the portion is pretty big, the flavor was lacking a bit. The fish katsu was bland without the curry. The omelette was overcooked IMO and the curry wasn't anything special. They should offer an option for different spice levels. I ended up asking for chili powder and they brought me a small bottle that barely had anything in it. I'll give it another try in a few months once they get everything sorted out. read more
I wish I could give more stars on this but sadly my first visit will also be my last. Came here around noon on a Sunday and we were seated right away. Got the orders immediately, menu is very simple. Food came out about 20 minutes later almost the same time as the appetizers. No big deal and food was hot. Overall taste was not bad but nothing special. The biggest thing during the visit was the service. The lady who assisted was not very friendly overall. She did not make us feel welcome at all and gave of the vibes we are unable to ask for help or anything. The place is also small so you feel like you cannot talk so my partner and I were just whispering. read more

Some of the best curry I've had in a long time. The tonkatsu was crispy and thick. The stewed beef had a delicious savory flavor. And the curry itself was savory and comforting. The staff was very welcoming and friendly and I plan on returning next time I'm in Vegas. read more

One of the newer restaurants ar Shanghai Plaza. The place is very clean and bright and small. Servers were fast and attentive. It was packed when we came in with a few chairs left. Glad we got seated right away. People was just in and out and got to take a picture of their sitting setup when the guests all left. Unagi was really good. I could ask for an extra rice. :) karaage chicken was ok just your regular taste. Chicken teriyaki was tasty and the tonkatsu was 8/10. Love the crunch and taste. Try this place for a fast eat and go. read more

Took my fiancé for his first Japanese curry Omu rice experience. Fortunately it was not crazy busy. The food was outstanding. The pork cutlet as well as the fish katsu were outstanding. Unpretentious, easy and easy out, really friendly, and excellent service. Finally Japanese curry done right read more
Kare was a quaint and quiet spot for lunch. Modern decor with classical music in the background. It's nice to have conversation in a place where you can hear whispers. Service was good and prompt. Drinking water was amazing. Clean and refreshing. You can appreciate good water when living in the desert. Food is as pictured - EXCELLENT. Kudos to the chef. Eggs cooked perfectly. As simple as rice comes, Kare rice was delicious. And, the curry was good. Temperature could have been hotter when served. All in all, it was a good experience with great food. Arigato! read more

My husband I did a spontaneous day date to the Shanghai plaza and stumbled across this new family owned local Japanese restaurant. The aesthetic in this restaurant was very modern with different aspects of Japan. The food that we ordered was delicious. As a girl who doesn't finish her food at restaurants, TODAY I DID. I recommend Kare. 10/10!! read more

I had the honor of meeting the owner and head chef, Jerry Jin - a culinary veteran with over 20 years of experience. He started this spot with his son, making it a true family business. I tried the curry fries--crinkle-cut, smothered in savory Japanese curry and creamy mayo. Total flavor bomb. I also got the bento with chicken katsu, edamame, gyoza, and this fluffy, golden omelet that was almost too pretty to eat. Almost. Their takoyaki? Crispy on the outside, creamy on the inside, topped with bonito flakes that danced with every bite. But the star of the show was the beef curry with omurice--chunks of tender beef, potatoes, and carrots swimming in that savory, sweet sauce. The restaurant is very nicely decorated. It's bright and modern - cozy enough for a solo lunch, but beautiful enough for a memorable dinner date. read more

The service here was very good and very quick. I had my order for drinks taken within the first 2 minutes and followed by my food order shortly thereafter. The food itself was pretty good, I've had some better curry elsewhere though. If I'm ever in the area and want curry, I'd definitely come again! The inside is also a nice modern Japanese feel. Saw this place advertised on IG, looked good, so I thought it was worth a try. Only been opened a few weeks, but health department violations from previous years? Probably another business at that location. Grand opening signs for curry dishes at $9.99, but mine was 14.99... not worth a fight to find out . Pretty simple decor and not a large number of selections on the menu, which quite frankly I appreciate. In my mind, only offer a menu that you can execute well. My dining partner got the una don, barbecued eel on a bed of rice and I opted for the katsu curry. Her meal came out quickly, in fact she was almost finished when mine finally came out(and she's not a speedy eater) . The eel was tender and seasoned well. My meal finally came out, very thin omelette on top of rice was very tasty, a good size pork cutlet swimming in a thin portion of curry. The curry was typical Japanese style, no additional spice levels were offered, which was fine for me. Very tasty, the katsu was crispy and the pork was moist. We had tea ($3.50 a cup for one teabag, one of my pet peeves is overpriced tea when it's served via teabag, not loose). All in all a decent meal. They do not offer a military discount which is not surprising for Chinatown. They DO charge a convenience fee (mine was $1.74), not sure if that is a CC fee or something else. Shanghai Plaza parking is no joke, and I didn't think it was worth dealing with for this restaurant which was just ok. I got the pork katsu and my partner got the chicken katsu. It was nice to have various protein options for katsu, but the food overall was pretty average and nothing memorable. Curry was not far from something you can easily make at home. Incredible authentic Japanese curry flavors. The pork katsu was perfectly crispy, and the croquettes were nice and soft in the center with a crisp exterior. Their customer service acts like they were raised without a shred of decency. They act like something's wrong with them. The waitress acts like she never fully socialized. If she hates people this much, she should get a desk job typing away at a computer. Customer walks in, and they don't even bother to greet them. Instead the waitress looked at me like what am I doing there? Like I'm some person who knocked on her house trying to sell solar to her. How is someone so socially stunted in the restaurant business? 客人进门了连打个招呼都嫌累，有病吧？没完成社会化？是在荒岛生存了300天忘记怎么跟人交流了？来你们这点餐还一副好像我是坏人的样子，上前面来打声招呼不会？你不打招呼，我咋知道要怎么navigate your restaurant? 脑子坏掉了吧？？ I told her I'm getting takeout and she still stood near the kitchen acting reluctant to talk. And then she spoke across the room "How can I help you?" Where I could barely hear her. And finally she understands I needed take-out she said can you come up here and pay? The entire time it's like I have to initiate the conversation and every move. Literally I've never been at a restaurant where the waitress just lingers in the back near the kitchen acting antisocial, not guiding the customer nor acting friendly. I don't owe her money, why she acting this way? Is she on her period? Even when I'm on my period I don't act this way. Mega socially stunted and antisocial. Just get a data entry job if you hate humans this much. Second, the takoyaki wasn't stellar and cost near ten dollars with five tiny pieces. I dont think this place worth a second trip. read more

LOVED THEIR CURRY!!! My bf and I went into Karé last week after a long day. They had a sign outside that said if you bought 2 curry omelette entrees, you would get them for $10 each. Regular price is around $14 each. Whether you get them for $10 or $14, they are amazing! I would 100% go back here for more curry. Just thinking about how flavorful it was is making my mouth water. I ordered the chicken katsu curry omelette. See photo. Mmm!!! Restaurant is small and intimate. Great for a date night. Not fancy but very nice. Definitely not family friendly tho. Mainly if you have small loud children. We brought my 2 year old against our better judgement and we spent the entire time trying to keep him quiet. One shrill scream and the entire room is looking at you. lol, to be fair he was sleeping when we first went in. Service was fast. Not overly friendly or invasive. On a chilly night in Las Vegas we all felt like having comfort food. We dropped by, 11 of us, to Kare in Shanghai Plaza. It was busy and we came at the perfect time and were seated right away. The decor was perfect. Since it was the grand opening we took advantage of the specials. From from pork, chicken, and tempura curry we all enjoyed it. Will definitely come back again. read more
