Walked in, not very busy, was told to self seat. First time here, we ordered, was given a small mortar and Pestel for the sesame seeds to grind and make the katsu sauce. Our server was Mario, he just left the mortar and pestle and walked off, no instructions, no questions if it was our first time. Service was good, he checked on us. Music was a little loud, but we also sat ourselves directly under the speakers, our fault. They are understaffed and have a sign for employment hanging at the door. The food was decent, normal katsu, the breading was fluffy, liked it. The curry udon was okay. Restrooms were clean.
Soooo incredibly delicious--from the miso soup to the cabbage salad to the katsu itself! I devoured every last bit they served me on that tray. We got the Pork Hire Katsu set and the katsu was just tender, juicy and so unctuous with a crunchy panko breading. The sauce was a bit tangier than I'm used to, but still went well with the dish. I also loved that the rice was not dry--some places just serve you rice that's gone hard and cold, and it's not very enjoyable. One of the most notable things was that they also give you a suribachi and surikogi (Japanese mortar and pestle) to grind up your own roasted sesame seeds for the katsu sauce. We've gone to several katsu places and it's been a while since we've gone to one where they offer this. I think it completes the whole katsu experience! The interior was very aesthetically Japanese and so welcoming. It also seemed like there was only one server the whole time we ate there, but he was very attentive, friendly and quick. Overall, this place certainly jumped to the top of my favorite katsu spots and will be a go-to for us whenever we visit Vegas!
My husband was craving for some JAPANESE CURRY so we went on YELP and found several Japanese curry places. We picked this one because it was the closest location to us and it had pretty good ratings... ONE MAN SHOW: Service was great! We asked for cheese and they gave us melted mozzarella to put in our curry. We're use to curry house style curry in LA. They would have melted cheese or Parmesan on the curry with a side of red radishes!! CURRY: 8/10 It was Good and it will satisfy your katsu curry craving! It's hard to find good curry so this place hits the spot. Also, it wasn't crowded and you can find parking easily... FRIED OYSTERS: 10/10 I really enjoyed the fried oysters because it tasted fresh and tender. The panko breading had just the right amount of crispiness and the oysters were not chewy... HURRY HURRY to TORA KATSU & CURRY!!!!!!
I want to start by saying the food was a 5/5, honestly even a 6/5. I really enjoyed the meal, a LOT. The wait and lack of service held the whole experience back. I'm no stranger to the minimal service style you see at some Chinese spots, and I actually don't mind it. But I waited over 45 minutes for my meal. My drink was empty for a while and stayed empty, and I couldn't flag anyone down since the only staff member seemed to be in the kitchen or behind the counter most of the time. It was a busy Sunday lunch, so I'm guessing they were either short staffed or she was juggling multiple roles, not sure. I ordered the Pork Hire with Soba noodles, and it was excellent. The soba and dipping sauce were a highlight, and the katsu was lightly fried to perfection. Everything came together really well. The food alone makes me want to give this place 5 stars, and I'd definitely come back to give it another shot. Just be prepared for a wait, if you've got around 45 minutes it's worth it, I think lol. I just didn't expect that kind of delay, especially being a party of one with only about 5 to 6 other tables occupied. Just a heads up if youre planning to bring a large party with no patience.

We were in Chinatown again (go figure) and were going to have lunch and go grocery shopping. The original plan was to go for an AYCE sushi meal, but changed our mind since we just didn't want to eat that much. So we went to Tora, we hadn't been here for ages and since they have several of my favorite dishes, we figured why not... Ashley was our server and was running the register as well. Seating was quick, lively music vibe, perfect for lunch. We ordered takoyaki (IYKYN what these are) as an app. Some of the best I've had . My meal was the "hire" katsu teishoku (teishoku means set or complete meal) with cold water noodles . The "hire" katsu was more robust and a bit fattier than the plain katsu. The meal comes with a shredded cabbage salad, a small piece of tofu wit sauce . Another feature that lends to the authenticity is the little grinder bowl with sesame seeds and the muddler. You pulverize your sesame and then they bring a pitcher of tonkatsu sauce to add. My pork was fatty delicious the panko was light and crispy, the cold water noodles (a must have in summer time in Japan was great, good size serving on a plastic fake bamboo style made with a few ic cubes and a small bowl of soy to dip.... So cooling. I also ordered a side of curry to dip my katsu in. My dining companion had the tempura style shrimp teishoku ... with a side of rice and udon soup. The shrimp (5) were huge and totally crispy. We were stuffed when it was time to leave. By the way they serve alcohol, but we didn't partake. I imagine this place is pretty lively in the evening.. Didn't ask for a military discount. Tab was $ 103. 00 including 20% tip. Well worth it!
Small air conditioned and clean establishment. The waitress was friendly and courteous. We ordered the chicken katsu curry and tonkatsu curry. Both were delicious. Although both were breaded and deep fried, I thought the chicken katsu was flakier than the tonkatsu. It was lightly breaded, not thick and heavy, crispy. The curry was tasty, not spicy. The chicken katsu was cooked well, no skin, soft and juicy not dry. I got the Hire Katsu (pork tenderloin) vs the Rosu katsu (pork loin). The Hire Katsu is leaner and melt-in-your mouth tenderness. The Rosu katsu is fattier and juicier. Both came with Fukujinzuke which is a pickled daikon (turnip)...sweet, slight tang and crunchy. It was tasted good with the curry. I think it goes well with curry if you like this type of vegetable.

Can get a combo meal with soba or udon as well. Love the soba with dipping sauce. Service is always attentive.
Ambiance of this place was good! Bright and spacious! The hostess who greeted us also took our order. Very good service! She was attentive though she looked like the only one there. We came here because I was craving katsu. We placed our order and it came out right away. I really wanted to love the place but the katsu seemed a little too greasy. My mouth felt a little more oilier than I expected. The flavor was there but there was something missing that I couldn't pin down. I'd come back in a pinch to satisfy the katsu craving. The service after all was good and I did like the atmosphere.
Came here on a Saturday afternoon! The parking outside was easy to find. The food was really tasty and the katsu was very crispy. The main reason I'm giving a four star is that the service was slow when I came in it seemed like only one worker. The food is very delicious and inside vibe was very Japanese looking!
This is not my first time here, but this is my first time writing a review for this place. We were greeted right away hostess was really friendly. When we got there, it wasn't too busy so we were served really quickly. I always order Gyoza when I go here, it's always hot and crispy. This time we ordered the cheese Katsu and also the Tori Katsu. I got my Tori Katsu with the cold soba noodles. Katsu was really crispy super juicy, and the cold soba noodles was an excellent side choice. The food here is always consistent. Rice is cooked perfectly and I love the miso soup. Food comes out fast and cooked very well. I think their portions here are perfect. The shredded lettuce on the side with the dressing is very tasty. Do they have a lot of choices as far as drinks are concerned they even said they even have some Hawaiian sun juice there. I love coming here for my katsu fix and I will definitely be back for more. Give this place a try and happy eating.
We came here the first time with no expectation of what this place could be, but it surprisingly so yummy. Order does take a bit to come out but It tasted very clean and fresh. You can tell the tempura is made to order. We've gone here multiple times now and the food and service have been very consistent.
5/5 food and flavor and taste - the Katsu is one of the lightest and most clean tasting katsus I've ever had - soba is excellent as well - presentation and portion are perfect - curry and cheese katsu tastes fresh - the interior does not match the taste of the food - that's my only gripe with the place, it looks like some mid level taco shop, but the food is like a 5 star Japanese place Awesome place

Food is amazing and you can tell they take pride by the way it is cooked and presented. Ther service is great and the ambiance is pure relaxation. The restaurant is beautifully designed and feels like being bin Japan. I recommend this place to everyone out there. read more

We came here since it was highly recommended by a friend who has lived in Japan for 20 years and he said this place is very authentic. After visiting, I can see why he recommended it! The interior is so cute and makes you feel like you're in a small town in Japan. The server was also friendly, quick, and efficient. I ordered the chicken katsu curry, and it was delicious! The katsu had a well-seasoned breading, the chicken was moist, and the curry was flavorful with a little bit of heat. It paired really well with the pickled red radish, which added a nice balance to the dish. The prices were also very reasonable for the quality and portion. Amazing food whichever we tried, great service but she always by herself and she still tackles all wonderfully. I really think this place has best katsu and soba udon in LV. With my kids we tried many and we always come back here. We were here Thanksgiving week and now in Christmas week. And we live in LA. Try them and you will be back. Locals are so lucky here read more
I loveeee it here! Definitely an underrated Katsu place imo. Staff is always friendly and service is always consistent! Their portions are huge and comes with so much, I always leave full and happy! I do wish they would work on the ambiance a little bit, the lights are a bit blinding and the music does not always match the appropriate vibe-- otherwise I love this place, and will come back! read more

Went here on a Saturday lunch and there is no wait. We were seated right away. Food was good. Portions were big too. And even the udon had a radish side dish. Service was great too. The interior is very kawaii, perfect for dates and you're craving for Japanese food. read more
Great katsu, their breading is authentic and so light and crispy. I do like that they have the sesame grinding for the fragrance. Service was friendly, they could use some help though as it was one waitress for 5-6 tables. Ambiance felt like a family business, it was nice for bringing kids to as there was enough space and not too crowded. read more
I love katsu and eat it pretty often- Tora was definitely in the top 5 for me! I ate the pork hire katsu, which is a tenderloin and it was amazing. The perfectly flaky crust was light and airy and not oily at all. The pork was tender and juicy. I love the fresh ground sesame seeds and their delicious katsu sauce. I love how tie paired with little side dishes like salad, soup, and tofu. Definitely will come back and eat this again read more

I was very much craving katsu curry and I've been meaning to give this place a try so let's do this! Ambiance: The inside is very decorative. They have art panels on the wall that give Japanese Izakaya but the restaurant is very well lit and bright. Service: I was seated right away as it wasn't to busy. Once seated, I was given a menu, water and left to look at all the options. I never had to look for someone and my cup was always filled so that made me very happy as I drink lots of water. Food: I love that there are combinations here! I was conflicted cause I wanted chicken katsu curry but the soba was calling my name so I got the combo. The katsu was juicy and crunchy. The curry was flavorful and steaming hot. The soba was nice and cold. The combo also came with tofu and that was the first thing to go. I love tofu. I love that I didn't have to choose and was very happy with everything on my plate! Overall, will be coming back here! read more

What a gem! From the moment we walked in, the service was wonderful -- we even got to meet the owner and hear the story behind the restaurant, which made the whole experience feel personal. I ordered the shrimp katsu, which you don't typically see on a menu, and it did not disappoint -- every component of the dish was delicious, and that sauce was unforgettable. Tora is officially in my rotation whenever I'm craving tonkatsu. Can't wait to come back and try their curry next! read more
Had too much to drink? Need a soup to cure the hangover, but also craving something crispy and savory? This is the perfect place for you. Tora is located a few miles away from the Vegas strip and provides plenty of tasty Japanese dishes outside of sushi! I was fortunate to try out the shrimp tempura and udon combo. The shrimp was HUGE, very crispy, but still plump and juicy inside the coating. The shrimp is also served with a shredded cabbage salad with a delicious dressing that I have no clue what it is, but it's good and worth trying. The udon was served hot, noodles are bouncy and succulent, and the broth was flavorful! It was served with a tofu skin which I enjoyed a lot. Pissed that you lost all your money on the craps table? They got you covered! Before serving your meal, they give you a mortar and pestle type instrument with sesame seeds for you to pound your frustrations away and once you're finished, they pour a delicious katsu sauce on top for your meal. Definitely a great experience. The restaurant itself is very clean and well decorated. You can feel the Japanese ambience, but more of a street/casual feeling rather than an upscale vibe. There's plenty of seating and parking shouldn't be an issue. I felt bad because we came during a rush and there was one waitress bustin her butt attending all the tables. So be nice! The pork katsu was absolutely delicious--perfectly crispy on the outside and tender, juicy on the inside. The breading had a light, golden crunch that didn't feel greasy, and the pork was cooked just right. Paired with the savory katsu sauce, every bite was flavorful and satisfying. The fried oysters were just as impressive. They were fresh, plump, and beautifully crisp on the outside while staying soft and briny inside. The contrast in texture was spot on, and they tasted clean and rich without being overpowering. Overall, an excellent meal with great texture, flavor, and balance. Cute place not too far from the strip and is an affordable meal! The service was super fast and efficient! The Katsu was perfectly fried and the gyoza were really good too. It was cool being able to grind my own sesame seeds and mix it with the Katsu sauce. If I visit Vegas again this is a definite spot to hit up and get some good authentic Japanese Katsu! read more

If I can give more than 5 stars, I would definitely give this awesome place 100 stars! The best Pork Katsu so far that I have ever tasted! They even have a Japanese suribachi (mortar with unglazed ridges) and surikogi (wooden pestle). Our server was friendly and pleasant. The place is very clean and orderly. The Japanese vibe is on point. Will highly recommend and coming back every time we are in Las Vegas. read more

both the Rosu and Hire Katsu were mushy (possibly from being tenderized) and the sauce was too tangy, although they let you grind your own sesame. I have had much better in Seattle and Vancouver BC. We couldn't finish our meals from the weird texture of the meats. read more
Our go to place to satisfy both mommy and kiddos (9 yo daughter and 6 yo son) belly. Among the three of us, we ordered the hire Katsu curry and soba combo, and the nabeyaki udon. I usually will not finish my food so I give some pork tenderloin to my kiddos with the rice and curry, portion some of my daughter's udon for my son, we finished our food. Service was wonderful all the time we have been there. Highly recommend! read more

My absolute favorite spot to get katsu in all of Vegas. After going more than 5 times this year, I've never had to wait for a table. I love the quality of the katsu and the small little kick of spice in the curry. I wish there was a combo for the cheese katsu with curry but for now I've been just ordering a side of curry for $6. We discovered this place on a whim. Craving tonkatsu while running errands in Las Vegas' Chinatown, we did a quick Yelp search for Tonkatsu near me. TORA was one of the first to pop up, so we thought we'd give it a try. We got there a little before 1:00 pm on a Saturday and only a few tables were occupied. We were happy as we'd had a busy morning & didn't want to have to yell to talk to each other. There was only one server, but she was very attentive & knowledge about the menu. (We think she may have been the owner or manager.) The menu was pretty big, with lots of good options for anyone craving tonkatsu & curry. Drink options were just as good. (See photos for menu.) Our order consisted of the following: Kakiagi Vegetable Tempura ($5.99) This was an enjoyable appetizer. Flavorful & very crispy. A lovely portion of two large pieces. Gyoza ($6.99) Tasted homemade. Meaty, crunchy & cooked perfectly. 5-pieces Pork Hire Katsu Curry ($19.99) Japanese curry with deep fried breaded pork tenderloin. The breading here is homemade. They say it's made with love & IT IS!! Every bite was juicy and tender. Ohhhh,... SO GOOD! The curry was mildly spicy, but absolutely delicious! Beef Katsu Curry ($20.99) Japanese curry with deep fried breaded ribeye. Again, stellar breading with a perfectly prepped ribeye, fried, golden delicious! Another winner! Side of Udon (Available with any curry katsu meal for an extra $6.00) A generous side portion that was hot, delicious & flavorful. The noodles were again, perfectly cooked. Soon Hari (Apple Mango) ($12.99) A delicious beverage to share. This sweet Korean Rice wine definitely helped cut through some of the heat from the curry. We loved TORA. First thing I noticed was that the exterior was different from the surrounding attached spaces. It looked like they had put in effort to make a good first impression. I thought, 'oh, looks nice already', but i've eaten at a lot of katsu places both abroad and in the states, so I wasnt expecting much from one in the states. Boy, was I wrong! I ordered the shrimp katsu curry with cold soba combo, while my husband ordered the hirekatsu with udon combo. Once our orders were in, they gave us some sesame seeds in a mini mortar and pestle. I stared at it confused, but my husband immediately started grinding it and I followed along. It was a fun way to pass the time as well. They put a sauce on top of it to mix with the grinded seeds, I think to dip the katsu in. Once the good came out, the visuals were what you would expect from other katsu places, but the taste! It was so good! The breading was so light and crispy, you have to eat it to explain, but it didnt taste at all heavy or crunchy thick. It had a very clean fry that made the katsu even better. When I commented on it, I think the owner? mentioned that the breading was all homemade with real bread, and not store bought. The curry was really good as well, with real depth to the flavors. Of course I stole some of my husband's hirekatsu and it didnt disappoint! My husband also enjoyed everything too. We only come to Vegas about once every 2 years and we're definitely adding this place to one of my lunch defaults. Only wish we found it sooner! read more

The katsu was freshly made, very flavorful, and perfectly cooked. While the katsu was great, the side soba honestly ended up being my favorite part of the meal--it was very well balanced and enjoyable. There is an extra charge for the green tea noodles, but I wouldn't recommend it since there wasn't a noticeable difference in taste compared to the regular noodles. The restaurant was very clean, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. A must-visit spot if you're in the Vegas area and looking for good katsu. read more
What a gem. Stopped by for dinner with friends. Service was good and the decor was beautiful. Not a huge restaurant but happy there were sears available when we arrived. Food: Niku Curry Udon A few katsu dishes. Can't remember the names. The Curry is really good. I loved the al dente udon and thr thin slices of beef made it extra delicious for me. The katsu batter was so light. I enjoyed the crispiness and flavor. I think that was a highlight of itself. Overall, I'd return again. read more
We came not too late at night, but it was pretty empty inside. Service was very quick and attentive! We ordered an udon chicken katsu combo, and a pork tenderloin katsu curry + udon. The katsu is amazing! The breading is super crispy. The combo came with a croquette, a shrimp tempura, and the chicken katsu. The croquette was forgettable, but the shrimp tempura and the chicken katsu were great. The tenderloin katsu was tender, but a bit on the drier side. The curry and udon were good, but the highlight is definitely on the katsu. read more
