Finally tried Curry Ya after hearing my coworker rave about it and even my cousins from Colorado were telling me how good this place was! Now I'm mad at myself for not coming sooner cuz apparently everyone knew except me. LOL! I ordered the organic chicken katsu curry at spice level 3 and it did not disappoint. The chicken was crispy on the outside and tender inside and the curry was rich, flavorful and had a nice lil kick without being too spicy. The portion was pretty generous too. Customer service was great and the whole food hall was nice and clean. This is only my second time eating at Cheongdam Food Hall so I still have a bunch of the other food spots to explore. Curry Ya definitely made a great impression though and I'll be back! My only complaint is that I wish there were more seats available. The tables are set up to be shared which I don't mind at all but it was a lil annoying seeing people put their belongings on empty chairs they weren't even using so nobody else could sit next to them. We arrived on a Thursday late afternoon to Curry Ya for lunch. The food stall is located in the Cheongdam food hall off Spring Mountain Road in Las Vegas. Parking is accessible in the parking lot out front. The food stall has simple modern cultural decor. The vibe is welcoming, relaxing, and family friendly. There are plenty of tables and chairs in the food hall available for guests. I ordered the Japanese pork katsu curry with 2 fried gyoza lunch combo. Everything I ordered was delicious and authentic. The pork katsu was tasty and crispy. The curry sauce was rich, creamy, and flavorful. Fried gyoza was crunchy and went well with the gyoza sauce. Overall i enjoyed my experience at Curry Ya. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Food came out pretty quickly. Price point was fair. The lunch combo is a great deal if you are ever there during lunch. There isn't anything that stands out otherwise with the flavor, so it's not a bad option to visit whenever you're craving katsu curry and in the area without venturing too southwest or into Chinatown. However, my 2nd visit was where my main complaints are. I was starving and craving curry on my way home from work, so I decided to order takeout. It didn't take long for it to be ready for pick up. But you can only imagine how disappointed and frustrated I was to find that half the miso soup actually spilled onto my fabric seat and soaked through. When I took it out, the lid was still on completely but because it's made of FLIMSY plastic (even flimsier due to the heat of the soup) over a paper cup, it leaked out. Furthermore, there was a piece of hair stuck to the lid of my salad. Although it's not IN the salad, when the lid is closed, it is touching said salad. It's packed at Cheongdam Food Hall on the weekends, tables are often full! Thankfully as soon as we found an empty table our orders arrived shortly after. Curry Ya is definitely good when it comes out nice & fresh! Kid's ribeye steak while thin, was very tender and flavorful. Went well with the rice and curry. The gyoza was OK and cooked well, although I'm pretty sure they are of the package variety. I really enjoyed my Meat Lover Curry entree - hot pork katsu with good flavor, kurobota sausage was good but wished it was charred to get that smoke flavor, and I quite enjoyed the SPAM katsu. All of it though awesome with the house curry! Seasoned well with being very mild. You need to eat it all in one big bite - rice, piece of meat topped with curry, and a small heap of shredded cabbage on top! Taste & Texture all in one! Besides your usual pork katsu...there's also chicken, ribeye steak, shrimp or seafood, sausage, spam to even tofu. There's also veggie and spinach too for those who have dietary lifestyles. Different levels of spice to choose from. I opt for spicy on my Japanese Pork Katsu plate and it was perfect! For reference, I usually get a spice level 6/10 for my Thai dishes. Each plate entree comes with miso soup and side of cabbage with a really delicious light sesame dressing. Only reason why this is a four star review is because the pork & rice portions were off. There's only five pieces of pork katsu! What the.... And meanwhile, half the plate was rice. At $12.95 per plate, at least throw in six pieces or something! Miso soup was piping hot and the curry was the flavorful with a nice kick. I was able to finish most of it but did take some leftovers home and it still tasted good the next day. Japanese curry is my favorite curry. I grew up eating it and never knew a different kind of curry until I was a teenager and discovered Thai curries. Then I moved to NYC and discovered Indian and African curries but none of them ever took the place of Japanese curry in my heart. Walking into Cheongdam Food Hall, I just knew Curry-Ya would be the place I ordered from. I wasn't really paying attention when ordered and just ordered my fave, chicken katsu curry (with level 1 spicy), and was pleasantly surprised when miso soup and a cabbage sesame salad were also part of the meal. This makes it a very good price. I was looking for some pickles to go with it on the menu but didn't see any, so I bought some in the little market in the food hall. Not exactly what I was looking for taste-wise (they were Korean style pickles, not exactly I was looking for) but hit the spot any ways. Thinking about it now, I should have just asked the person at the POS if they had any pickles. She was super sweet and helpful and seemed nice enough I could have asked her. Ordering was really easy because of the person working there but also because of how the menu was laid out. I also like the snack options they have in front, it adds to the food stall vibe and ambiance. Oh, and btw, the curry here is excellent.
