What used to be a Hawaiian poke bowl place is now a Chinese place. We were surprised to see this as we wanted to try the poke place but too late. Anyway what a great find! Zen Dumpling, as it is now named is a jewel hiding in the AMC Regency Plaza on Rt 60 at I-75. Busy on a Saturday afternoon, Xmas shoppers, including us, it was a short wait for a booth, staff was super nice. Once seated a menu on a slip of paper is placed on your table with a pen. Didn't take long to figure out it was a you choose what you want, mark up the slip and a waitress comes by and picks it up. We had quite @ few questions (first timers) and she was happy to answer all our questions. Wasn't long before the food showed up, Mongolian Beef with white rice and Vegetable noodles. A group of four of us came here on a Saturday night, the wait was around an hour. Small waiting area inside, so we stood outside. Once we were sat, service was quick and food came out even quicker. They serve every dish as it comes, since they do not have heat lamps. We ordered a variety to split, which was a great way to sample a large part of the menu. My son and I came all the way from Tampa to try this new Dumpling restaurant , it was packed and we had to wait over 20mn. The service was good, our waitress took care of us very good. The food was just okay, chili oil dumpling sauce wasn't spicy tastes kinda flat and the dumpling was soggy, hot sour soup was good but little too salty, braised beef noodle wasn't that good, the broth was blend, and all Xiao long bao skin was thick and soggy. Zen Dumpling is a great addition to the Brandon area. They offer great sharing platter for families and friends. I would say for individuals, it will be more expensive to eat a variety of food than eating with others.I had their stir fried green beans and a few of the dumpling options which I all absolutely loved besides one. The service was great, they explained the menu well and how to use the sauces offered at the table. The ambience is impeccable with thought out table settings and aesthetic decor. FINALLY!! Fantastic, *real* soup dumplings have hit the Tampa Bay Area. I've tried a few places that claim to have soup dumplings, but always leave disappointed. Zen dumpling was the complete opposite! Hands down some of the best soup dumplings I've had in general, right up there with my favorite spots in NYC. We ordered the truffle pork, crab and pork, and the beef dumplings. Each one has a unique flavor and came out piping hot with a good amount of broth inside. My favorite had to be the truffle pork. It was not too heavy on the truffle, but nonetheless delightful. We also tried the stir fried noodles which were good, a lo mein type dish. The sweet and sour baby ribs were great as well, very tender. Great speedy service, cool modern vibes, and insanely good soup dumplings means I will surely be back soon read more

Tried Zen Dumpling for the first time. The food was amazing. Our food was fresh with a short wait time. I had the beef pancake roll it was tasty with a nice refreshing crisp of cucumber in there. We also had the pork soup dumplings and crabmeat and pork soup dumplings. Both were great. The broth is everything. Could really tell the difference in the meat in terms of flavor. Which didn't bother me because as long as the broth is fresh and flavorful that's all I needed. The Ambiance is calm n warm, whether for mommy and me lunch date, casual date night or cute lunch date with some girl friends it was very beautiful and fitting. Had a fantastic meal at Zen Dumpling. I will be honest, it's difficult to get into this place. They don't accept reservations and everything is first come first serve so I recommend putting your name in and then going to the nearby stores until it's close to time. That being said, the atmosphere was amazing, very beautiful. The location is difficult to get in and out of because it can be very busy but very close to everything. The service was great and the food was absolutely wonderful! We tried a lot of stuff. The green beans were killer, the chicken and beef soup dumplings were amazing, the Shanghai dumplings were tasty, the beef bao and special bao buns were great! I also got the Dan Dan noodles but that was my least favorite item, not that they were bad, just not fantastic like everything else. I can't wait to come back! Only downside is that it's a little pricey but worth it in my opinion. read more

Zen dumpling located in the big Plaza just off I -75 at Brandan. They got brand new interior design, interesting drink and food menu, open kitchen you can see the chef making dumpling. The services were fast and attentive. The beef pancake roll was decent. The soup dumpling with shrimp and pork- six pink color soup dumplings in a steamer, they looked so adorable. They tasted very good. The skin was strong, it never broke even got picked by chopsticks. One may say the skin is too thick. For me, to secure the soup inside is more important than the thickness of skin. The flavor, the texture, the material of the filling was perfect. Don't forget to dip them in ginger strips and vinegar. We had signature bao- steam bao with bottom pan fry to crispy, delicious. The beef noodle soup- the broth was clear, not too salty. Noodle got good texture and somehow the carrot cubes tasted very good for me. Plenty of beef slices made this ensemble worth praising. My top favorite was the sweet and sour baby ribs. The name is kind of misleading. They actually tasted much better than those regular Chinese take out ribs. The chef did such a good job handling this dish. The meat was so tender, fell off the bone with the flavorful sauce plus sesame seed garnish, such a wonderful tapa! Service was terrible, Completely useless. Asked the staff we didn't want to be seated near the bathroom. They threw a attitude and that we were inconveniencing them. We waited forever for everything, and when we ordered the guy Adriano a complete idiot said we didn't have enough food just to get a bigger pay day. We had so much food we had to take 6 boxes of left overs home. The total bill was over 300 dollars. We told them we were new and din't know the portions. when we finally got our food, it lacked flavor and was overcooked I genuinely don't understand how you mess up food this badly. I've been to zen dumpling now 3 times, those three times I've had my toddler and baby. They are always so sweet to them. All the times I've gone I've taken new people as well. Every time the food arrives they are shocked of how much the food portions are. I've tried their steamed dumplings, the fried rice, the stir fry noodles, the broccoli onion beef, and pot stickers.
