I've been trying to get a reservation here for six months. We finally got in at 8 pm on a weeknight. I had heard rave reviews and knew it was small but had no idea how small. It only seats 12 people. Very cozy and charming but chilly on a cold winters night with the door opening. Love the atmosphere (except for sitting at the counter in the winter). Fantastic red wine and Caesar salad. My husband and I each ordered a different pasta. He ordered the pasta with sausage, cream and mushrooms. It was fantastic and light. Not what you would expect with cream. I ordered the pasta with garlic and anchovies and Calabrian chili oil. It was good but a heavier sauce than I expected and a little too heavy on the garlic. Too full for dessert but they looked fantastic and I will be back. Next time, I will request a table not the counter by the door and get the burrata, focaccia bread and tiramisu. The people next to us raved about them and they looked fantastic. Great personalized customer service. I will return to try more and probably when it's warm out to eat outside on their patio. Small and mighty! Zero Zero does a few things and they do them well! The space is tiny (you'll need a reservation) but during patio season, if you walk up you may be lucky enough to dine outside. Hours are limited for in-person dining but the option to purchase homemade pasta and sauces to take home is also available. The menu is small but everything is fresh and perfectly prepared. The staff is friendly and kind and they are working towards changing menu items seasonally. We enjoyed both the burrata & heirloom tomato salad and the pasta with Italian sausage Norcina sauce. A friend had a last-minute opening at Zero Zero Pasta and I was lucky enough to join. This little Kansas City gem has only four tables inside and a counter that seats about a dozen people, so you need a reservation if you want to sit indoors. The patio is first come first served and worth a try on a nice day. We came for lunch and decided to order the entire menu. The focaccia came out nice with whipped ricotta and honey and set the tone for the meal. The Caesar salad was crisp and garlicky with plenty of parmesan and toasted breadcrumbs. Every pasta was a standout. The spicy vodka radiatori had a gentle heat with creamy tomato sauce and cool stracciatella. The spring pesto bucatini was bright and fresh with micro greens and a hint of pistachio. The lumache alla norcina featured Barham Family Farm's Italian sausage in a rich sauce that felt like pure comfort. The pork cappelletti in a silky crema di parmigiano stole my heart and the Calabrian chili crunch we added gave it just the right amount of kick. That chili crunch was so delicious we found ourselves putting it on everything and it somehow made every bite even better. We finished with all three desserts and I honestly cannot pick a favorite. The tiramisù made with Post Coffee espresso was light and perfectly balanced. The Basque cheesecake had a caramelized top and creamy center with fruit compote and vanilla whipped cream. The chocolate crémeux with Callebaut chocolate and cherries was pure indulgence. The wine and cocktail list is small but thoughtfully curated and the service was warm, attentive and clearly proud of their work. We had dinner here on a weeknight and absolutely loved it. It's a cozy place with a warm ambiance. The restaurant only seats 12 people inside, so you truly get an intimate experience. We had the pesto rosso burrata made with sun-dried tomatoes and it was wonderful. Just wish it came with some sort of bread or crostini. We ordered lumache alla norcina and chitarra aglio e olio pastas for dinner. The chitarra was good, but it was more on the dry side (not saucey if you like sauce on your pasta) but the norcina was amazing. Rich, creamy, little crispy chunks of sausage and mushrooms, so good. Highly recommend the norcina. We got the tiramisu to go, but it lacked the cocoa powder on top. It was average. If you are visiting KC, this is a MUST. Very difficult to get a table, so either book 30 days ahead, or hope the weather is nice and you can book starting 9am the day-of. The inside is teensy... Maybe 4 or 5 tables. The food is absolutely wonderful. Pastas are freshly-made and perfectly cooked. Sauces are creative and delicious. For dinner I had the Spicy Vodka Radiatori topped with stracciatella and basil with a side of Focaccia served with whipped ricotta and honey. Everything from the freshly made noodles and sauce to the bread tasted incredibly fresh and felt like it was made with love and pure happiness! The pasta paired with bread was such a treat! WOW! I can say this place lives up to the hype! My husband was able to snag a last minute reservation on the patio and I will say I was apprehensive regarding the whole sitting outside piece, but it was amazing! The outdoor space was curated perfectly with space heaters and blankets on the chairs to accommodate the fall weather. The food itself was delectable. Our server recommended Lumache Alla Norcina which was a very comforting dish. The fan favorite, however, was most definitely the Butternut Squash Agnolotti. It was Fall on a plate. I snagged a coveted reservation at Zero Zero and I'm so glad I did. This place is TINY!!! But very cute and love the open kitchen. I wish we had been seated outside as it was a lovely night and the inside was freezing cold every time the AC kicked on. My only suggestions for improvement are a better, more balanced cocktail menu. Only a few options and they felt very masculine to me, seemed like mostly bourbon and whiskey? I don't think there was a single vodka cocktail option. I got red wine which was good but it was a very little pour, maybe 5 ounces at most which was disappointing. The other issue is it really isn't very comfortable inside. Because of the size the tables are so little there is hardly room for 2 plates, 2 drinks and the little light and the bench seating is very uncomfortable. I guess it's OK because they are back to back on reservations so you aren't going to sit around and chat after your meal. I would love to see them be so successful they could move into a bigger space and have bigger, more comfortable seating options. Now the food was a full 5 star experience!! Loved every bite. The menu is small but mighty and the pasta is heavenly and somehow even a white sauce with sausage felt light?!?! Wow... what an amazing experience. Not only was food so fresh and tasty but the entire staff was incredibly nice and helpful. The owners personally introduced themselves and apologized for my wait which was more than worth it. I have no problem waiting for delicious food. The Cesar salad is what got me there but the spicy vodka sauce with bucatini pasta will forever have my heart. I will be bringing my family back! Side note... I came alone as I often do when going out to eat and so many places you get lost in the shuffle forgot about. Their pasta shop offers an assortment of raw pasta varieties, sauces and fresh baked focaccia. Each week, they make a special pasta that's not in their normal lineup with limited quantities. Pre-order for pickup is available via their website, but not necessary! They also pop-up at the Brookside and Overland Park Farmers' markets. Their pasta is made to be cooked at home except for their lunch special on Saturdays and Sundays and now for 2024 restaurant week! I went to Zero Zero for their COOKED and ready-to-EAT Restaurant Week special which was delicious! For $20, the special included a slice of rosemary sea salt focaccia, your choice of fettuccine paired with mushroom cream sauce or Rigatoni paired with spicy vodka sauce & guanciale, and an adorable mason jar tiramisu. We ordered online for pick-up and head over to their adorable little storefront on the Westside for pickup! This was our first time visiting - and inside you're immediately hit with the smell of freshly made focaccia. Heavenly. There are a few small 2-seater tables if you want to sit inside and enjoy their focaccia right there. The pasta tasted as delicious and fresh as it looked! Zero Zero also offer classes in-person at their shop in Westside. Classes are limited to 6 participants. They also accept reservations for private classes which are $500 for 6 people. read more

I have been meaning to try this place out because I've been on the lookout for good Italian in KC. Through their website, I ordered the lunch special ($20+$1.80 tax), and picked up my order around 1:30 on a Friday. Parking is strictly street parking, which is unfortunate, but I was lucky enough to snag a spot across the street, close to their location. The lunch special was a square of focaccia, truffle mushroom pappardelle, and tiramisu (in a glass jar you can keep). The focaccia was amazing. The flavors were really developed and cohesive, and the texture was fabulous. I would think about purchasing a whole pan if I were hosting a party/meal. Great! The truffle mushroom pappardelle (pasta) was cooked perfectly al dente. I think for palates that are used to heavily salted foods, this pasta may be quite bland for you. I personally would have preferred a little more garlic, maybe a sprinkle of flaky salt on top? Maybe a dollop of lemon ricotta to jazz it up a smidge? The mushrooms were delicious! The mascarpone part of the tiramisu was really tasty. I think the ladyfinger/cake bits were a bit too wet for me, but I understand that some of the extra liquid is for shelf-longevity since cake tends to dry out over time, even with cream. Overall, I would try Zero Zero again. I am curious to see what their other pastas taste like! If I was rating on food alone, it would be four stars. The two individuals working there today were absolutely lovely though, so I had to give a five-star rating! read more

Visited this lil pasta shop on a weekday during lunch to try their December specials. They have two rotating lunch specials each month. We tried both the Caramelized Onion Mac and Cheese and the Pork Cappelleti in Demi-Glaze. The lunches are made to order, so it took 10-15 minutes for our order (as the only customers) BUT the wait was worth it. The focaccia bread was fresh and light. The pork cappelletti's Demi-glaze was the star of the show, so flavorful and paired perfectly with the pasta. The Mac and cheese was a HUGE portion, making it feel like I got my moneys worth. The prices were a bit above my personal comfort level for lunch but it did feel like a medium/large portion of pasta and I took home leftovers. I'd love to see smaller portions for a lower price in the future. Would make it seem more realistic for a daily lunch option instead of a special occasion. The shop itself sells pasta and sauces for you to take and make at home. We did not buy any products for at-home making but I will be back to try some! Walked up at 5pm in a Thursday night. No reservations so we were just taking a shot at it. They had 2 seats at the window. Wasn't ideal BUT we were thrilled to get in. The space is TINY. When they say it holds 13 it barely hold that but it adds to the charm. I love the vibe. They have quite a few tables outside and this will be a regular spot for me in nicer weather! Hospitality was excellent. Both servers that assisted us were fantastic. We ordered: Focaccia- solid! Stracciatella- delish- wasn't the creamiest I've had but I'm a totally snob on stracciatella Caesar salad- Breadcrumb gave it a very nice twist to a normally basic salad. I got the Lumache alla Norcina- EXCELLENT My mom got the butternut squash angolotti as EXCELLENT. And I guess we looked hungry because they brought us a plate of the Spicy Vodka Radiator too! It had the stracciatella on it and it was also very good. I will say with confidence this is the best fresh pasta I've ever had. WOW! This place is extremely hard to get into because it's so small, but man was it worth it. We walked in when they first opened and were able to get a seat on the patio. We started with the focaccia and ceasar salad - both some of the best I've ever had. For mains, we shared the spicy vodka radiatori and the lumache alla norcina. The pasta was amazing. It had the perfect cook and tasted so fresh and homemade. We were told the chef had been crafting the recipes for 20 years and you could tell. They were magnificent. I will say I purchased very good pasta from here when it was only a pasta shop, that being said the dinning experience left a lot to be desired and I don't think I will be returning. Dispute the totally indoor dinning space being pretty limited there were still multiple open tables inside yet they sat us next to the only other occupied table and it made for a crowded dining experience. I can understand paying for quality ingredients but my wife's pasta was $26 and she only got 6 pieces of pasta feels a bit expensive especially from the lunch menu to go with the $6 focaccia where we got 3 small pieces. While the food was good it was not extra extraordinary, which is what it should have been for the prices that were being charged. Finally the water had an off plastic taste despite being served in a glass container. I will say the service was very attentive. read more

I tried Zero Zero for restaurant week. They offered 2 pastas - mushrooms on fettuccine and a red guanciale rigatoni with tiramisu. I knocked odd a star because the rigatoni was undercooked (way less than al dente!) and the sauce contained only a very small single piece of guanciale. That said, the sauces were delicious and despite the texture so was the pasta. The space was darling and the two ladies working the last Sunday of Restaurant Week were so nice and helpful. The tiramisu was 5 stars! . The foccacia was sold out and I hear that's very common.
