My friend was not, and the man at the counter explained everything. We ordered Taziki as an app and then ordered lamb gyros. Both were delicious. The bread was perfect. The dip was perfect and the gyro was one of the best I ever had. I ordered a side of french fries and they were seasoned and also delicious. I strongly recommend anybody who likes Middle Eastern food to go there. I grew up on it. In fact, growing up in Lawrence, I worked in the number one Middle Eastern restaurant in the state at that time, called Bishops. So I know my Middle Eastern food. Oh yeah, and the prices were very reasonable. They are right off South Willow Street on Loring. Give them a try.

The portion size is variable. I've had it "generous" and I've had it "Whoa - that's a LOT of food". They're not covered with a standard tzatziki sauce - theirs is more feta forward. Super tasty. The fries vary as well. Sometimes a bit crunchier and sometimes, while still crunchy, more toward McD fries style. But it's just the outer surface that crunches. Inside it's smooth and creamy. Top drawer. You'll find that they tuck a few fries into the wrap. A nice touch. The only negative point is speed. I've always been there early - the first for lunch. But it still takes a fair bit of time to get the food. Arrive during the crowded time and you're definitely going to be waiting around. But ... worth it. They have a lot more on the menu and have an interesting alcohol free beer/soda that was new to me and a nice change from actual soda. Definitely worth a visit.

The Chicken Parmigiano was cooked perfectly, had excellent flavor, but for me there was not just not enough cheese. I like my chicken to be covered- or most of it. The pasta was excellent. So together for me, it's an 7/10. My friend 9/10. The Roman Salad- essentially a Caesar, had great dressing, but the huge dissapointment, was grated cheese. For $15, I want actual Parmesan. I won't be getting that again. We also got a Greek Salad, and 2 Add 1 Polpetti. I was told the salad was good, we couldn't add grilled chicken today because of issues on DoorDash, hence the Add 1 Polpetti. The only comment on the meatballs was that they came with no sauce- while they were tasty, they expected sauce. (Makes sense)?! Overall, the food was fresh, and flavorful. I am not sure if we would order again? For the cost, I expect more. They seemed super helpful, and friendly. Since this was delivery, I can't speak to ambiance!

I ordered the Zeus gyro along with a side of fries. The fries came out piping hot, fresh, and perfectly seasoned. They were crisp on the outside, soft on the inside, and honestly some of the better fries I've had in a while. A great start to the meal. The gyro itself had great flavor--the ingredients were fresh, the toppings were vibrant, and the seasoning was spot on. Unfortunately, it was lukewarm when it reached the table. The taste was good enough that I kept going, but I couldn't help but think how much better it would have been served hot. A gyro with that much potential deserves to come out at full temperature, and I was disappointed that it didn't quite get there. That said, the overall experience was still positive. The friendliness of the staff and the quality of the ingredients make me believe this was probably an off moment in the kitchen. I'd definitely give them another shot because the foundation is clearly solid--and when that gyro comes out hot, I'm sure it'll be fantastic. Worth a visit, and worth trying again.

This was our first visit on a Saturday evening and we were glad we made reservations as it was packed yet still maintained a great atmosphere. Chicken and Beef Kabobs as our entrees. Their signature cocktail Istanbul Peach Martini and a glass of Autorotas Sauvignon Blanc. As always the Lavash was amazing as was the Kabobs. About a year later, I found myself craving authentic Mediterranean food again, so I started searching for restaurants around New Hampshire. That's when I came across Ayasofia. As I looked through the menu and photos, everything seemed so familiar--it reminded me of the dishes I had loved at Mediterrano. The next day, my husband and I decided to drive an hour to Salem to try it out, and it was completely worth it. After speaking with the owner, we learned that Mediterrano had actually been owned by a member of his family and that they use the same recipes. It all made perfect sense! The owner was incredibly warm and welcoming, even encouraging us to return and meet his mother, who taught him these recipes. I highly recommend the hummus, baba ghanoush, salsa, and grape leaves--they're all fantastic. Be sure to order the lavash bread on the side, as it pairs perfectly with everything. For a main course, the adana lamb kebab is a must-try. Everything tastes incredibly fresh and full of flavor. I only wish I could cook like this--I'd happily eat Mediterranean food every single day!
