I have eaten at Zigs for many years, as I live relatively close to them. I've never reviewed them before, and I would have given it 5 stars except for something that I saw the last time I went there. Before I get to that, here's my overall review: it is a diner - no more, no less. But it is a good diner and I happen to like diners. VERY intimate little spot and you know (usually) exactly what you will get there; good diner food and great and caring service from always sociable servers. They basically kill you with kindness. Here is what I saw the last time I visited. I posted a picture of the little diner so that on this particular occasion, you could see my point of view. I could not help but witness what happened. One of the wait staff (who I found out later was named "Precious") just strolled on over to that mirror, put her face very close to it and, as she looked at herself, began to... wait for it... pop her pimples - I kid you not! She was there, without exaggeration, for a good minute and a half, which, think about it, is quite a long time when you are doing something like that in public. I was in mid-chew, and I could not stop looking at her. It was hard to believe what my eyes were actually seeing. I am NOT trying to be mean here, but it was such an off-putting sight that I just had to write about it. It's a good thing I wasn't eating, say, vanilla pudding or some such thing when I witnessed this. I would have just lost it!

I kept passing this place and I decided to go in and is definitely one of my favorites spots. It's a small location but it comes with a lot of personality from the food, food to the staff. The prices and portions are awesome. The staff is super friendly and attentive. I ordered a breakfast burrito that was so yummy. The Redneck Benedict was so good it was by far my favorite. Will definitely come back and try other dishes. Highly recommend this pla

I can't believe this place on has 3.9 stars. Ok I get it, the outside doesn't look like much and looks closed but the quality of the food is great and it's flavorful ! And the prices can't be beat this is my new favorite spot :)

The drinks looked good but I decided to save some calories and just had a glass of water. For food I started with clam chowder. I'm thinking it was a special since it was on a piece of paper on the table. It came in a bread bowl...it had lots or clams, bacon and potatoes. It was delicious. It could have been a meal with a small salad. So for my entree I had the lobster Mac and cheese. It was good as a well. Ooey gooey and seasoned nicely. I was almost full from the chowder so only at about 1/3 of it but would definitely recommend. It was my first time coming here and I'd definitely return.

Service - 5/10 I'm not sure if they were just so understaffed or what was going on. Food took forever to come out & it seemed as if there was only 1 waiter for the entire restaurant. She also had an ugly attitude. Price - 2/10 Honestly for pub food, it's way too overpriced. You're paying West Hollywood prices in the valley, probably more. I hate that each sandwich/burger is $15+ à la carte. Ridiculous! Cocktails - 2/10 Ordered an old fashioned multiple times & each time it was too heavy on the bitters. Gross! Ambiance - 6/10 It's a cool dive bar feel but the TV sound could've been on for the ball game. OVERALL - 6/10 It's way too overpriced to even want to come back. The food is mid, and just not worth the price. The beer options also are not it. Cocktails aren't great either. Probably wouldn't come back.

($18 - Hangar 1 Mandarin Blossom Vodka, cold-pressed pineapple juice, fresh raspberry purée, lime juice fresh mint topper). I'm not a big drinker and am a fan of drinks that you can't really taste the alcohol and this was great. It was a fun to drink and was refreshing. For our entree my friend had the Fish & Chips. ($27 - Crispy haddock fillet, sea salt fries, tartar sauce, grilled lemon). I tried a piece of her fish and it was thinly battered, soft, and flavorful. I usually try to stay away from fried fish like this just because places use way too much better or the fish gets super oily but they was not the case with their fish & chips. You can tell they use quality ingredients. I had the 4 piece Spicy Tuna on Crispy Rice. ($34 - Fresh ahi, dynamite sauce, wasabi tobiko, togarashi, toasted sesame). Oh my goodness was this delicious. This is usually something you'd eat as an appetizer but eating it alone is a meal in itself. Yes, it's pricey BUT it is totally worth it. Saint & Second is an upscale dining experience. Their food delivers to that level as well. I highly recommend if you're looking for a new date night spot or something intimate with friends. You can really taste the freshness of all the ingredients they use.

However, in my two most recent visits, only the atmosphere has remained a highlight -- the service has declined significantly. My most recent visit was two nights ago, on Father's Day, for a celebratory dinner. Our server was curt and unwelcoming throughout the meal. When my glass of wine arrived, the server suggested I taste it first -- which I did -- and it was immediately apparent that the wine had turned. Having ordered the same wine many times before without issue, I was confident this particular bottle was off. When I asked our server if the bartender could open a fresh bottle, she agreed without hesitation. However, moments later, a gentleman I assumed to be the manager approached and informed me that a new bottle would not be opened, as the current one had only been opened the day before and was, in his opinion, fine. His only alternative was to offer the same varietal at a higher price point. I understand that restaurants may have policies regarding open bottles, but in all my years of dining out, I have never encountered an establishment that refused to replace a glass of wine a guest found unacceptable -- especially when the server herself had encouraged me to taste it for that very reason. This experience left a lasting negative impression, and unfortunately I will neither return nor recommend this restaurant going forward.

Of course, Studio City has a village full of good restaurant choices, but since I was already a fan of their other location on the Westside, The Six on Pico Blvd., I decided to give this one a try. So Saturday brunch it was! We arrived earlier to avoid crowds at 10:45, and we had the place all to ourselves until 11:15. Reservations were made via Yelp, but we obviously didn't need them. I was a bit surprised, but small groups eventually trickled in slowly. ** THE CHOW ** My brunch date ordered a California omelet, made with brie, red bell, caramelized onions, and topped with half an avocado. The breakfast potatoes on the side were very yummy and the omelet was tasty too. Did I mention I'm a glutton for brunch? Well, I decided to eat one like one. And the Knife & Fork Chicken + Waffles was just right for my appetite. It satisfied the fried chicken cravings I had racked up over an entire week. I liked that the chicken was boneless, skinless, buttermilk-battered, and crispy. The fancy "red devil gravy" is basically a watery Tapatio for dunking or (if you're like me) for drowning your chicken in heat. Don't worry, they've got Cholula as well. Also, I love the effort in naming this menu item. However, I was a bit disappointed to find out that the jalapeño rosemary syrup on the online menu was only regular maple syrup IRL. Overall, the waffles are quite dense so it adds a good balance of hot 'n' sweet. ** THE SERVICE ** Servers at The Six were attentive. Food was delivered quickly. There were frequent check-ins with various staff members at each of the tables. The wait staff worked well together, covering each other's duties -- that was nice to see. ** THE VIBE ** There are lots of Instagram-worthy backdrops and charming little signs strewn around the restaurant. The decor and vibe give a nod to the "Society of Six" artists from the 1920s Prohibition era, who lived together in a cabin in Northern California that they dubbed the "Chow House", where they inspired each other in creating art. The reclaimed wood planks and cast iron skillets are used as plates on several menu items as a subtle accent and cozy, cabin vibe. I imagine twinkle lights add to the effect during the evening time. Next time I want to shovel brunch into my pie hole like a bottomless mimosa glass, I'll come back for the Apple Pie French Toast. That's with a side of bacon (not the bacon inside the French toast as the menu writeup may suggest). I hear that the cinnamon apple pie filling is amazing. I guess I'll have to come back for seconds and pair it with a bottomless Mimosa for $25 (avail Saturdays & Sundays, 10am - 3pm).

We decided to come back with friends but on a Wednesday night at 6:30 instead. Sat at a table in the area where the music was but it was very loud and tightly packed with tables and guests. I could barely hear my friends due to the loud conversations, loud laughter, and just the acoustic affects in the restaurant were bad from that. We ordered steak, sides, and thought baked potatoes but got mashed instead. After we ate dinner we asked the manager if we could seat outside for dessert instead due to the loud noises around us. He brought us there but we had to wait at the bar outside till we were seated took an additional 15-20 minutes. After seated it was better than inside with a nice decor too instead. Dessert was ok service good. For such a high-ended restaurant and pricy food it's only avarage, inside decor pretty but very and tightly packed with guests and loud especially for a week day night kind of unusual, I was disappointed think it's a bit overrated sorry to say. I think Flemings, Ruth Chris, or Morton's are better food wise for the same price and dining experience and not as loud too. Think what could make it better is to thin out the crowded packed affect in the main inside dining area would help a lot too, or, if we ever go back sit outside instead I recommend. The service and staff there were very nice, friendly, and attentive and worked hard during service though. So overall raiting is a 3. Tuesday music night inside was good though think because the band is set up where tables of guests would be so less talking and guests listening to the music instead. Hope they make some changes to there inside seating there for improvements will and could help overall.

The famed lobster appetizer was not for us. Bits of lobster floating in a lot of butter didn't excite us. Excellent salads. The other appetizers however, were excellent. We've been twice now had had a lot of their menu. The pork was outstanding. The rack was very good, but I've had even better racks elsewhere. The "famous" banana cream pie was good, not great, but so huge and rich it must be shared. At $30, it's maybe also a tad overpriced. The bar makes a healthy-sized martini that's worth its high-end price tag. Great wine list with wonderful advice and good-sized sample pours, even though I only drink one glass and my husband doesn't drink at all. This is a good place to splurge on a good wine. I've mentioned the above-par service. Informative and cheery, without trying to become your best friend. They went out of their way to assure us a table in a very quiet spot, due to my deafness. Very attentive without being overbearing. Their suggestions seem honest, rather than just trying to upsell everything. The place is huge and gorgeous. Flatteringly, if dimly, lit, it lends itself to romantic dinners and anniversaries. In our case, we like to have a rather luxurious and romantic and lengthy meal perhaps once a month, and feel very fortunate to be able to do so. It's divided into several smallish areas and the effect is rather cozy and intimate. It's chic and stylish, so PLEASE folks, dress for it? It especially saddens me to see a nicely dressed young woman, who obviously spent some time on herself beforehand, with a guy ( I'll guess her husband ), in shorts and a tee shirt. I say, for a place like this, where you could easily spend four bills on a good meal for two, with drinks, management, bring back a dress policy! And enforce it with a reminder email they you do so. Is a collared shirt and a pressed pair of khakis too much to ask for?

The burgers had a nice, smashed crust while remaining juicy, the cheese was properly melted, and the grilled onions had a terrific caramelized sweetness, while the house sauce was very well-balanced: ketchupy and creamy without being too mayonnaise-heavy. A very good smasher. My wife ordered the Big Texan Burger because she wanted cheddar and frizzled onions and BBQ sauce, though she deleted the bacon and pork belly that are normally included. This, too, was a very good burger: cooked to a proper and pleasing medium-rare and well-seasoned, with a good, fresh flavor to the beef. The onion rings were less successful, which are of the beer batter type, but seemed to be a commercial, frozen product. The coating was browned but not crisp, and the flavor was relatively nondescript. We didn't really eat them, and wouldn't order them again. And so, to me, The Tipsy Cow is a bit of a mixed bag: reasonably priced decent food and reasonably priced, generously-poured drinks -- but in a mostly self-serve environment that incrementally loses its appeal in relation to your age and your dining circumstances. Certainly worth a try, but you've gotta be in the right mood.
