Came here on a week night because I had the hankering only burgers could satisfy. The food was out quick, and the kitchen was on it. The space was welcoming, even if it was pretty much empty (again, I was there on a weeknight). Honestly, Shake Shack does an awesome job with the smash burger, and I think they've got it down to a science. We tried the double burger, ordered some fries, and had some vanilla custard with it. All were really tasty, and the double burger in particular was juicy and crispy in the ways that you hope for in a smash burger. If I could offer a couple of just general notes...Shake Shack runs some offers for BOGO burgers from time to time, and that's why we came in. I really don't know why they're always limited to a single burger, which I don't think is substantial enough for me, and not the right balance of meat to toppings. When they run the BOGO specials, it'd be awesome to be able to do a double burger from time to time...I feel like we walked out of there spending way more than we needed to, just to feel full. Another minor suggestion - please offer some kind of combo with the fries...personally, I don't like the a la carte model. That said, big fan of the flavor, the burger, the fries, and the desserts! Shake Shack Encino Courtyard is located on Ventura Blvd. in a nice shopping center with a small Target and a few other restaurants. We've never tried Shake Shack before so we wanted to give it a whirl because so many people have said great things about the burgers! The service was friendly. The store was not too busy when we went to pick up the order. We ordered on the App, which made it easy to pick out the toppings and place the order for the time we needed it. The order was exactly on time, we didn't have to wait for it. We ordered the ShackBurger, which is their basic cheese burger, with lettuce, tomato, shack sauce. We added pickles and onions to the burger. First impressions of the burger was it was small for the price of $8, just for a burger. We didn't like how the order was packed, it was sitting by itself in a box in the bag, it would have been better just in a small bag, to us that was a waste of materials. The burger is super thin, it basically is a smash burger, so it has a well done flavor. Overall the flavors were good, we just were not impressed with what we got for the price. We unfortunately wouldn't give it another try because there are plenty of other burger places that give you more bang for your buck. To us its is very overly hyped. read more

I don't understand why a restaurant that prides themselves on having so many unique flavors of shakes seems completely incapable of making one that is cold and thick, like a shake is supposed to be. I've had different kinds there, several different times, and every time I get it, it is thin and just drips out of the straw as easily as juice or water. That's is not the correct consistency for a malt!! Even when I ask for them to make it extra thick they say that there is no way to make it like that. Just crazy!! They really need to change their recipe or consistency!! I won't go back until they do. Also I just had a burger there for the first time and the quality of meat tastes very low. This place has certainly lost its luster with all of the price increases. The quality is pretty decent but the pricing is just, way too much. I had lunch today at Shake Shack in Encino. I ordered the Chicken Shack which was very tasty. It was a nice crisp breast in a bun with mayo and pickles. It would have been evenAlsoA better if I could have had a little bit of Thousand Island Dressing but they did not provide it at this restaurant. The restaurant was very clean and the staff was nice. Also, the restrooms were very well maintained. There were about 12 tables for patrons with only about four of them occupied. I took one star off for this: Message to management- your employees already seem to be trained on vocalizing upgrades/charges- which is great for higher bills- but it's also incentive for higher tips. Please change the tip amounts on the checkout screen to 15% & 20% . 10% tip is basically no tip at all for and 15% is low enough as it is. I've worked in the service industry for a long time and it's disheartening to see this for a business' staff! Especially when they were so friendly and welcoming! A huge thank you to Axel, Bernard and Denise! My husband is from New York. We stopped in one evening on our way back from an event...we were so hungry. We were searching for a place on Ventura Boulevard to grab a bite. I suggested McDonald's and my husband and my niece both New Yorker quickly said NO let's go to Shake Shack "they have the best"!! We placed an order to go. When we got home we could hardly eat the food it was so salty. Come to find out they had started a new salt company wide. No fault of the cooks at all. Next day I called and spoke to Axel the manager on duty and told him our situation. He did not hesitate to ask us to please come back in and he would remake the order. Today we came in. Bernard the manager on duty happily remade the order after telling him about my conversation with Axel. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the new meal without salt. It was extremely fresh & delicious!! On the side he ordered a Brooklyn Ale and I wanted to try the vanilla shake. The shake is one of the best I've ever had! He really enjoyed the Brooklyn Ale. He said it went very nicely with the hamburger and complimented the flavors. We wouldn't hesitate to come back here again when we're craving a great hamburger, french fries, milkshake and a beer! Fast service and very friendly employees. First time trying it and it was good and fresh. We ordered three burgers: a hamburger, cheeseburger, and Korean burger, as well as an order of fries. The crinkle cut fries screamed nostalgia and were well cooked and delicious. The burgers were good, albeit on the salty side - especially the Korean burger. These might be our favorite burgers. We have tried them all lettuce wrapped and it's really hard to pick out the best when they all taste so great. Our usual go to is the double smokeshack cheeseburger, lettuce wrapped. They load those double cheesy patties with bacon, tasty smokeshack sauce and cherry peppers that really just add to the flavor with their tangy spice. We have been here quite a few times, but for some reason I keep forgetting to review it. We love this Shake Shack. It is part of a chain that is growing. The food is great, the menu is not huge, it is mostly burgers and chicken and some of the best shakes you will have. My only complaint, get some cheddar cheese, I don't like American and is that real cheese anyway. They will make your meal exactly the way you ordered it. I like my burgers rare and they will do that. Their fries are so good. The service is fast and very nice. This is a place where you see the menu on the wall and order at the counter. They will call you when your food is ready. We always eat there because we have usually shopped in the Courtyard and want a break anyway. The place is cute and kept spotless. I love the tee shirts they allow the employees to wear. It is just a fun place. I know nothing about delivery as we have never tried that. read more

They have a huge parking lot in the back with ample free parking. I read some of the other Yelp reviews and was quite surprised by some of the negative comments. Very happy to have a new Shake Shack location nearby, the closest to home for me were Burbank, Hollywood and Glendale - none of which are super ideal. We tried them out and things were great as they usually are. I always order a single smoke shack and cheese fries. They have a few new shakes, and Sugar Cookie caught my eye. I usually only order a shake towards the end of the year when they have one that I like but that one is very similar to this. 3% of the shake proceeds are going to Trevor Project during Pride month so go buy all the shakes your heart desires because they'll be donating a minimum $75,000 if I read the sign correctly. My son tried the new bacon bourbon cheeseburger and he liked it. I'm such a creature of habit I will rarely if ever try anything new. I dabble with the hot chicken sando when it's around but that's as far as I'll go. For someone who doesn't really eat burgers when I find one I like that my stomach can tolerate I stick to what works. This is a good location, and the food was solid. I was impressed that the cashier spelled my name correctly which is a rarity. Happy to have them nearby on Ventura to fulfill our Shake Shack needs. read more

My first time ever trying Shake Shack! The whole debate is whether or not In and Out is better, right? My thoughts are...they're just different. This shiny new location of Shake Shack is really nicely designed and has a nice wrap around patio for outside seating. You can order at the register or from a tablet (if you're feeling anti-social I guess? ha) Menu doesn't have a wide variety of options, but they do at least have a veg option for the veg peeps. I ordered the Shack Burger which seemed a little plain (just comes with lettuce, tomato and sauce), so I added pickles and onions. Your only other options are really the shroom burger, a couple burgers with bacon on it and a grilled cheese. Ok, I see what they are doing here but did the food live up to the hype? In my opinion, the food was good, but didn't blow my mind. I was a little disappointed to see how small the burgers actually were. I also ordered the buffalo fries and they were just OK. It was kind of just like spicy salt dumped over the regular fries, not really evenly seasoned. The crinkle cut fries were pretty straight forward. I'd totally come back for a quick meal or take out, but it wouldn't be my first choice if I'm craving a big juicy burger and fries. There's a large menu up top to choose from, and they're currently offering seasonal shakes. Expect what you'd expect from other Shake Shacks - delicious chicken, not the crispiest fries, and sleek technology. Pricepoint is a bit on the high end - lunch for 2 will run you about $20 between food, shakes and sides. A bunch of burgers on the menu here, but alas I'm not the biggest fan (and I was also on my way into the gym). I've been a fan of their cheese fries, but never noticed that they now offer bacon fries, too. Might be an interesting pick for next time. Parking available on the street or in the lot out back. Been wanting to try this chain for a while but there are just none around here! We finally made the trip out to get some for lunch today and I was not disappointed. We ended up going to this location which is the closest to us but it's along Ventura and if you're from around here, you know Ventura is awful when it comes to parking. Luckily this one has a shopping center parking lot in the back which was pretty packed but we were able to find parking towards the back. We parked and walked right into this place. We placed our order and decided to sit outside because it was pretty nice out but it got hot real fast. We managed to move around the corner to a shadier spot and enjoyed our burgers. I'm not huge on shakes and wish I had gotten a soda instead but the Wake n Shake (coffee shake) that I got was delicious! Unfortunately it was too much for me and started to make me feel sick after because I was so full but it was really good. The burger itself melts in your mouth. I love how salty and tasty all the flavors are. The size of the single was perfect for me as well. I am not a fan of crinkle cut fries but they salted and fried it so perfectly that I really enjoyed it with my burger. On the way out, we noticed that they have doggy snack baggies! I didn't see it on the menu but saw it on a shelf on the side where they had their other goodies that you can get. Definitely would love to pick some up next time for my pup. I normally love Shake Shack but after giving the Encino location three tries, I'm left a bit disappointed. Experience: Theres plenty of parking as it's in a shopping center directly across from Target. The service at this location is really good. You're greeted as soon as you walk through the doors. The menu is explained to you in great detail by the workers. The food is brought out to you in a timely manner. The restaurant also is very clean and bright. Now on to the food... I've waited to come here three times before writing a review. Each time my shack burger was greasy. To the point where my stomach hurt after consuming half of it. The fries were warm at best but not really hot and the cheese sauce congealed quickly. I'll give another location a try to see if it's better or if the overall quality of Shake Shacks have gone down. read more

Ok ya all here comes the Keep It Real Guy, so lets get after it! A friend of mine recommended their chicken sandwich so I had went in and tried it. It was good, and tasty, but to small for the price. The Habit in Encino is better they make it with cole slaw inside, and melted Americian cheese. It is a bigger sandwich and more tasty!!
