When you take so much time and use so many words trying to explain and prove why the customer is the one who is wrong, I believe it is absolute evidence of the lack of self awareness you possess as a restaurant owner. Just imagine: instead of trying to analyze your business's weak points as an opportunity for improvement, you go around pointing out that your customers drank too much, and then you claim that your *steak frites* evokes the sensation of being in a French bistro? Give me a break! We know exactly what that feels like, and believe me, your restaurant is absurdly far removed from that sensation; you can't even cook a hanger steak properly. We weren't looking to have dinner at Denny's, don't be disrespectful, but we *were* trying to have a pleasant dinner. However, your restaurant isn't pleasant at all , something made abundantly clear by the way you respond to your customers. And although I shouldn't have to, I'm going to break down the bill for you just to prove that we *did* pay more than $160 USD. Learn some respect; even after such a poor dining experience, we still left a tip of over 22%. Another place that I've walked by loads of time and never tried. Always stopped by looked at the menu but never went in. Well, finally it was the day. Modernism week and pretty much places were getting full even in the morning. We walked by and looked at the menu, there was maybe 2 tables occupied. After a few back and fourths we decided to give it a go. They offer a 2 course menu for 29.00, starters and an entree. There's a few extra entrees that's an additional free if you wanted to add that as a 2 course meal. Some of the extra add on range from 5.00 to 10.00 additional. We got seated on the patio as we had our little pup with us. Odd as the hostess mentioned to us that the dog had to be on a certain side when seated. Ok, never heard of such but ok. Menu, they did have a lot of breakfast and brunch à la carte if you didn't want the 2 course. Plus, they were pretty much the same on both menu. I know they have dinner which I've heard was quite nice too. We ended going with the two course. First was the half wedge salad. Honestly, it was quite nice and tasty. Even though it was half, it was still a nice decent portion with apple smoked bacon, tomatoes, red onions and citrus Roquefort dressing. Dressing alone was very tasty and paired very well. For the entree, the chicken club sandwich. Herbs grilled chicken with apple smoked bacon, lettuce, tomatoes and chipotle aioli on brioche bun and served with fries or potato salad. It was more of a burger style than a sandwich and pretty big. Second entrees, stated with the wild mushroom truffle soup. That too was quite tasty. Entree for that was the albacore tuna melt, sun dried tomatoes, shallots, avocado and white cheddar cheese on whole wheat bread with a side of fires as well. Both of the sandwiches were quite tasty and pretty plentiful. Apparently they're known for their breakfast or Benedict as we heard. They had a nice mimosas deal but we couldn't take advantage of it as we were on a time crunch. First time and it was quite nice. The food was great for brunch which dinner maybe for the next visit. My husband and I usually have brunch, but this time we had dinner. I absolutely love the mussels in white wine. I get them every time. The zin bites are such a delicacy. We tell everyone we know how amazing these little beef wellington bites are. My husband had the burnt ends and he loved them. The potato salad was fantastic. We went to lunch in Palm Springs and found this quant bistro. We were seated immediately and our server came by taking our drink orders. She was pleasant and pretty busy so there wasn't much conversation. The drinks were great. I ordered a Bloody Mary with bacon that was delicious. We had a great time and the music in the background was modern contemporary and we were able to carry on a conversation with no problem. I ordered the Huevos Rancheros that was excellent and filling! It made the whole thing dry. The sliders were small with very little meat but those buns would have been perfect for the burger. A soft buttery bun! The fires tasted weird too. I've been to Zin American Bistro a few times. Each time I recall the wait staff being friendly and helpful. Both times I had a comfortable seat, whether outside or in. And both times I've had mixed feelings about some of their food. Now, before I go too much further, I should say that most of what I've eaten here has been quite good. But there have also been some distinct misses. At my most recent visit, I ordered the rib meat carpaccio. This dish was excellent. Marbled beef topped with arugula, pesto and grated Parmesan. This was a great dish. A definite "A." On the other hand, my macadamia encrusted schnitzel lacked even the remotest crunch and, without smearing it with the lingonberry jam was almost flavor-less. This one earned a "D." However, despite that, the broccolini that accompanied the schnitzel was excellent...as were the wedged potatoes. Happily the meal concluded with the Belgian Chocolate Mouse. Very rich dark chocolate flavor combine with tart raspberry sauce. Delightful. So, basically, this restaurant absolutely has the capacity to provide a phenomenal dining experience. Big chunks of lobster in a delicious sauce. My sister ordered the Zin Bites and a wedge salad, which was plenty of food for dinner. Our friends took advantage of the three-course dinner, which starts as low as $29! They shared it, and it was plenty of food for the price. The service was top notch. Our friends were pleasantly surprised at how good this place was. They said they'd been by it many times but never stopped in, but it will now become one of their favorites in downtown Palm Springs. We were actually going to wait until Lulu opened but then realized since it was a Monday that they were not having their famous 3 course weekend brunch even on a holiday, so we waited until this place opened at 11am to give it a try. We started off with an order of the fried bleu cheese olives as they sounded fascinating and were quite good. I ordered a tuna melt with a side of parm truffle fries and my friend ordered a basic breakfast of scrambled eggs, potatoes, etc.. My tuna melt was really good and the fries were good as well but didn't have any "wow" factor to them. My friend enjoyed his breakfast but there wasn't anything special about it. We each had one cocktail as their happy hour starts at 11am during the week, but since this was a holiday they were not having it. Ambience is nice (casual yet can be dressy) and the staff was very friendly and service was great. The food was good but definitely not for the price as what I mentioned above was 75 bucks not including tip. We decided to dine downtown at Zin American Bistro on our first night in Palm Springs. We had reservations and were seated right away. Our server was Cristina -- she was great. A staff member who appeared to be a manager went from table to table to check on customers. That was nice. We shared the Corn Chowder. My husband had the Steak Frites, while I chose the Lobster Pappardelle. The Corn Chowder was quite good but came in a cup size bowl (we expected a larger portion for $11). My husband enjoyed his steak. He said the red wine reduction was delicious. My entree portion was nice and had a good amount of lobster. Unfortunately, I found it overall bland. 3.4357 stars We happened upon Zin on a Friday night and it was surprisingly empty-ish considering the fact that it's located off the busy main stretch of downtown. Their menu selection is as advertised - new American with some exciting appetizers. To start, we shared the BBQ pork belly "burnt ends" ($18). This was just about as American as you can get: BBQ pork belly, potato salad, pickles, and green chili cornbread. This was very tasty, but the proportions were slightly off. In theory, it should be a collective bite with all the fixings, but there was just a smidge too little to share. This would function as an excellent one person appetizer. The entrees selections were your standard American fare. I opted for the buttermilk fried chicken ($32) as one does. It comes with three pieces of chicken, creamed spinach, mashed potatoes + country gravy. This was a solid fried chicken entree - good sizable, juicy pieces of chicken with pretty good sides. I also had bites of the burger (good! but not $30 dollars good). Zin feels homey - the food looks and tastes like home cooking and that can be a good thing. The interior + patio are also homey - a little ho hum and very wooden furniture-y. I think. I'd like coming here if I was a local because it has that familial kind of feel, but as an out of town-er, this was not the vibe I was going for on a Friday night. walked the strip 4th of july weekend in search of a bite, and waltzed on in here! since i'm on a diet or TRYING to be... (!), i only ordered an appetizer and chose the mussels. usually i'd get it in white wine sauce but you can also get it in coconut lemongrass so for something new, i tried that. my friend got the chicken schniztel with potatoes and broccoli (tonights sides, at least) and it was quite quite big - certainly enough to fill you up. even with him giving me a big sample here and there, there was enough to take home for a bite later. the food was delicious. for me, the mussels appetizer was enough to fill me up, i prob should have stuck with the white wine sauce - or tried the celery and leeks. the coconut lemongrass was good but, also a bit heavy. like gravy vs a sauce! and it kept making me think i was eating thai food instead of... ie, mussels. not to say, it couldn't be a thai food. but this wasn't a thai restaurant! our waiter was chip and he was super delightful and just a charm and pleasure to talk to! extremely friendly, knowledgeable, lovely and truly an asset to the place. the strip wasn't at all crowded bc tourism has fallen dramatically, since trump and everyone who voted for him is a colossal dumbass, jerk, jerkoff, and so so many other putrid things. so it was a pretty light crowd on the weekend. but that meant we could get in easily and that's how we discovered this lovely spot. we liked it. am sure you will too! definitely worth stopping by. read more

We visited PS about three weeks ago. Just a quick getaway from the usual grind. We met a friend out here and he suggested we try this place. He wasn't wrong. The wait staff was pretty busy so the bartender ( I believe his name was Ben) was our waiter. He was very knowledgeable about the items on the menu and answered all of our questions. He put our order in right away and it was delivered to our table hot and ready to be consumed. Everything was scrumptious. We look forward to eating here again. We walked by and checked it out. The ambiance of the patio is really quaint. The host had a great smile, demeanor and was really welcoming. Him alone was convincing enough to try this place. We sat outside at a two top. Claudia was our server. There wasn't too much to say for her as she was not very impressionable. I felt like she took her time between everything. She literally took our order, and everyone else handled the rest from dropping off our soup, bread, entrees, and dessert. She didn't even collect our check at the end of the meal - the host carried it over to her. Honestly, in my book, the buser and host deserve a great cut of the tip. Meal was delicious. The rolls were hot. I wish the sourdough was more sourdough like. It tasted like a general roll. Mushroom soup was VERY mushroom-ish and well made. My husband loved his fried chicken. My dish was the lobster pappardelle - rich and filled with plenty of lobster. The chocolate mouse dessert was rich as well. As I was planning my trip, I came across an article with tips on a budget friendly trip to Palm Springs. In this article, there was one section dedicated to Happy Hour restaurants. This place was listed, with a happy hour that lasts from 3-6pm, longer than most places. So we decided to make the trek outdoors in the blazing 100-degree weather, with only a sprinkling of souls brave enough to tough out the dry heat. There were many cocktails and wines to choose from, which were reasonably priced from 6-12 dollars each. My favorite was the Blood Orange Spritz. On a separate menu, there's multiple food options to choose from and we ate- Zin bites: Flaky and buttery with a small piece of meat encased within. Loved the gravy that it came with, wish I ordered 4 instead of 2! PEI Mussels: So good! You must choose the wine, celery, and leeks sauce! You do have choice between the wine sauce or a coconut curry sauce. Spinach Dip: This was okay. Wagyu Beef Sliders: For two sliders, it was pretty filling. Our bartender, Ben, was amazing and attentive. Loved the company at the bar as we made new friends and got tips on what places to frequent nearby! Very disappointing experience Based on the many positive reviews, we had high expectations for Zin, but unfortunately our experience was very disappointing from start to finish. Despite having a reservation, the hostess refused to seat us outside and insisted the only available table was in the back of the restaurant, even though several outdoor tables remained empty for the entire duration of our visit. This set a poor tone right away. The food itself was mediocre at best. The beef carpaccio was still partially frozen when served and completely lacking in seasoning. The burger was served on ciabatta bread instead of a brioche bun, which made it dry and unbalanced. The pasta sauce had no real flavor and honestly tasted like it came straight from a can. The salmon was brought out on a hot plate, yet the fish itself was cold. To make matters worse, the Russell's Reserve 10 bourbon we ordered was clearly not Russell 10. Overall, nearly every dish fell short, and nothing we ordered met the standard we expected from a restaurant with this reputation. The only positive note was our waiter, who was friendly and did his best despite the circumstances. Sadly, this was a very underwhelming experience, and we will not be returning. read more
