Zin Bistro is a quaint casual storefront restaurant that shouldn't be missed in Lodi. They serve good size portions of tasty American fare with European influences at a reasonable price. My attraction to Zin Bistro was the lamb shank on their menu, served while they last. It is probably the best lamb shank that I've ever had and the large portion was more than satisfying. Definitely glad I came hungry! I can certainly understand why the lamb shank is a very popular item at Zin Bistro and sells out often. Even if you don't care for lamb shank, Zin Bistro also serves equally deliciously prepared entrees on their menu with daily specials. They even offer a 3-course $20 prix fixe menu on Tuesdays. Adding their exceptional service, Zin Bistro offers a very enjoyable dining experience.

There was a man standing across the street playing music and that was rather nice when I could hear him. Service was spotty. Had to wait awhile for food, water, after dinner drinks, and dessert. My husband enjoyed his dinner. My chicken Parmesan was okay. It did not taste like freshly breaded but more like pre frozen entree. I would not order it again. We were there for quite awhile. We saw friends go in after us and leave before us due to our slow service. I almost felt like they forgot about us outside. I love market tavern in Stockton and have always had great service and food there. Maybe this was just an off night. I guess she liked that they came stacked high with all kinds of stuff. I couldn't find anything that really spoke to me. I generally want a simpler kind of dish. Not a big fan of places that dress their dishes up with things like pickled onions and mystery house sauces. So I got a burger, hoping it would be a big juicy not over cooked burger like you used to be able to get. I had to customize it a lot though. You always have to cross your finger that they will get it right when you do that. Well she liked her tacos and my burger was ok. Not worth the money. Expensive place for every day food that's just sort of dressed up with stuff you can do without. Quality was generally good. Kind of a dumpy lot to be located in, but that's Stockton for ya. I don't remember much about the service or the ambiance so they must have been ok. Probably not going back tho. I can get a better burger with less fuss for a better price just about anywhere. That said, you don't go to these types of places for a burger, you get them when you're dragged there. All in all, I wish that there were more family owned operations locally that just had good food and good prices and good service. Too many places that are either complete garbage or trying to be super high end in basically run down towns.

It's contemporary and the furnishings are quite comfortable. It's the type of place you can settle in and have a casual meal without feeling rushed. Prices are high yet the quality is excellent. For the first evening at the bar we settled into a high top table. You can sit at the bar, lounge type seating or outdoors on a pleasantly shaded patio. They had an expanded bar bites menu as the main restaurant is closed on Wednesdays... most of it quite enticing. We opted for cocktails to start and I chose a specialty Date Maple Old Fashioned. It was really good with a large ice ball to chill it. For bar bites we shared the pork belly sandwiches (small, delicious but messy to eat), the sausage skewers (amazing!) and crab cups (refreshingly light and easy to eat). After cocktails we had glasses of a light white wine, made with Santorini Greek grapes. For the next meal in the dining room the place was a buzz with activity but conversation was easy without a lot of excessive noise. It's intimate and the room is quite pleasant for a gourmet meal. We started with cocktails (same Old Fashioned) and shared the grilled Brussels Sprouts which were plentiful and ever so delicious. They were slightly over grilled for my taste yet it didn't distract from me enjoying them. We got bread which was a baguette with butter and the consistency perfect for a French style loaf. For my entree I debated between the scallops and the pork chop and went with the chop. I was quite pleased as the chop came in thick slices and drizzled with a tarragon mustard reduction sauce. It was amazing, tender, juicy and at 22oz I couldn't finish it all. It came with a tasty apple sauce and grilled seared cabbage. Absolutely delicious. Ed, celebrating a birthday, had steak which came with a huge bowl of mashed potatoes which I tasted. Oh my gosh, the creamiest potatoes ever! For dessert we shared the cheese plate, a really great way to end the meal, with glasses of a twany port. All of the cheeses from a brie to a hard cheese were top quality. Service both times was very attentive, professional yet personable. We were well cared for and everything went smoothly. It's expensive yet the experience and value is worth visiting. Make a reservation.

The food was ok, its was good , it was very expensive, I think I expected more from the flavors. We started with lemonade, it was delicious! For an appetizer we ordered an octopus salad , the octopus was good, not over the top . We also ordered a dozen oysters they were underwhelming, not sure what was on them but I asked for nothing on them . The greens were slightly wilting, it was ok . I ordered the bay scallops they were good , the purée that came with it was ok. We also ordered the smashed potatoes, they were underwhelming but ok . My Neice ordered a salad and it seemed just ok , she liked it , not super crisp. She also ordered fries , they were good . Over all our experience was just ok , it must be a status thing when you say you went to the Americana House , it was just ok and at 125.00 per person we expected higher quality. The horseradish was outstanding. The ambience was a great experience, not sure I would recommend here , the quality does not match the price . Desert was good , coffee was good

I ordered the Greek salad with added salmon (+$8) and it was a great choice. The portion was generous and came with a slice of focaccia. The salad had mixed greens, olives, artichokes, feta, and red onion with a really tasty balsamic vinaigrette. Our table also ordered a cheese pizza, Caesar salad wrap, and the chicken pot pie. For a big place that was maybe 40% occupied, it was soooooooooooooooooo slow. One server from what I see, 2 bussers, and 5 others standing around chatting. Took a good 30 mins to get seated (there was tables available), though we got to go to their tasting room, and got a bottle of wine; another 20 mins to get the server's attention after getting seated and probably another 40 for the food to come. That was probably the most irritating.

We sat inside, where the space features exposed brick, artwork throughout, and very comfortable seating... my partner specifically pointed that out. The layout includes a mix of seating areas, which gives it a more relaxed, layered feel. The bar area, known as the Ghost Lounge, adds a darker, more lounge-like element to the overall atmosphere. Service was excellent. Our server, Lacy, was friendly, attentive, and witty - easily one of the best servers we've had in a while. For drinks, I had a local Oak Farm red wine that was excellent. Others in our group had mimosas, which were well received... especially the grapefruit mimosa, which my partner really enjoyed. For food, there were several highlights. My partner had the chicken and waffles and loved it; I tried some and would agree it was very good. Another person in our group ordered the steak breakfast tacos, which came as a set of three. They only ate two, and I had the third and it was delicious and something I would recommend. Another in our group had the eggs Benedict and thought it was excellent. I had the biscuits and gravy with fried eggs. It was okay, but not something I would go out of my way to order again. In terms of value, prices felt consistent with the quality of the food, service, and overall setting. It's not a budget brunch spot, but it feels appropriate for the experience. Overall, it was a really enjoyable Easter brunch with great service, a comfortable and well-designed interior, and several strong menu items. I'd rate it a 4 out of 5, though if half-points were an option, this would land closer to a 4.5. We'd definitely come back.
