Zin Bistro is a quaint casual storefront restaurant that shouldn't be missed in Lodi. They serve good size portions of tasty American fare with European influences at a reasonable price. My attraction to Zin Bistro was the lamb shank on their menu, served while they last. It is probably the best lamb shank that I've ever had and the large portion was more than satisfying. Definitely glad I came hungry! I can certainly understand why the lamb shank is a very popular item at Zin Bistro and sells out often. Even if you don't care for lamb shank, Zin Bistro also serves equally deliciously prepared entrees on their menu with daily specials. They even offer a 3-course $20 prix fixe menu on Tuesdays. Adding their exceptional service, Zin Bistro offers a very enjoyable dining experience.

The food was delicious! And service was perfect! Kristen and Emily was so attentive and gave us such great customer service! At initial sit down.. we was greeted with a bowl of flat bread and our drink order was taken. The flat bread was warm soft and so good we asked for seconds lol. We ordered the grilled artichoke..the char grilled taste was great and the dip was delicious! We shared the salad special today, which was a pear salad that came with raspberry and blue cheese. Everything went well together it was refreshing. And for our entree we shared the mushroom ravioli and the pork tenderloin medallions. The pork tenderloin medallions came with green beans and mash potatoes. Everything was chefs kiss! My favorite was the mushroom raviolis.. it was so flavorful and mushroom-e if that's even a word but you know what I mean. So good! My other friend ordered the seafood pasta and said that was also very good. The dessert presentation was perfect! You get to see their dessert menu in 3D! A tray of deliciousness.. Literally the dessert itself! We shared the chocolate mousse and was not disappointed! It was light and chocolatey all at the same time! Stumbled upon this place... but now a fan.. I live in Elk Grove and would drive south for this again for sure!

I genuinely love this restaurant, which makes my last few visits especially disappointing…read more On my most recent visit, I ordered the beef brochette--Angus steak chunks served with pasta and mixed vegetables. The food itself was very flavorful, so taste was not the issue. Unfortunately, the temperature was. The steak was barely warm, and both sides were completely cold. My dining companion and I were starving and on a limited schedule, so we did not want to spend additional time trying to flag someone down and waiting for the food to be reheated. Instead, we waited--and waited--for our server to return so we could ask for boxes. We ultimately took the food home to reheat and eat later, which is obviously not the experience you expect when dining at a restaurant. That brings me to the service, which has also declined over my last several visits. Our server never checked in after the food was delivered. Had she stopped by shortly after we began eating, we could have addressed the temperature issue and possibly had enough time to enjoy the meal properly. Instead, she was nowhere to be found until the end. I am not sure whether the food is sitting too long before being picked up or if the kitchen is not monitoring temperatures properly, but something needs to be corrected. Servers should also check on their tables at least once during the meal--not only return at the end when it is time to bring the check and collect a tip. I truly hope management takes this feedback seriously because I know this restaurant is capable of providing a much better experience.

It's contemporary and the furnishings are quite comfortable. It's the type of place you can settle in and have a casual meal without feeling rushed. Prices are high yet the quality is excellent. For the first evening at the bar we settled into a high top table. You can sit at the bar, lounge type seating or outdoors on a pleasantly shaded patio. They had an expanded bar bites menu as the main restaurant is closed on Wednesdays... most of it quite enticing. We opted for cocktails to start and I chose a specialty Date Maple Old Fashioned. It was really good with a large ice ball to chill it. For bar bites we shared the pork belly sandwiches (small, delicious but messy to eat), the sausage skewers (amazing!) and crab cups (refreshingly light and easy to eat). After cocktails we had glasses of a light white wine, made with Santorini Greek grapes. For the next meal in the dining room the place was a buzz with activity but conversation was easy without a lot of excessive noise. It's intimate and the room is quite pleasant for a gourmet meal. We started with cocktails (same Old Fashioned) and shared the grilled Brussels Sprouts which were plentiful and ever so delicious. They were slightly over grilled for my taste yet it didn't distract from me enjoying them. We got bread which was a baguette with butter and the consistency perfect for a French style loaf. For my entree I debated between the scallops and the pork chop and went with the chop. I was quite pleased as the chop came in thick slices and drizzled with a tarragon mustard reduction sauce. It was amazing, tender, juicy and at 22oz I couldn't finish it all. It came with a tasty apple sauce and grilled seared cabbage. Absolutely delicious. Ed, celebrating a birthday, had steak which came with a huge bowl of mashed potatoes which I tasted. Oh my gosh, the creamiest potatoes ever! For dessert we shared the cheese plate, a really great way to end the meal, with glasses of a twany port. All of the cheeses from a brie to a hard cheese were top quality. Service both times was very attentive, professional yet personable. We were well cared for and everything went smoothly. It's expensive yet the experience and value is worth visiting. Make a reservation.

After a moment of awkwardness the hostess asked if we had a reservation and we said "Yes at 6:00". We were then promptly seated. Our waitress was terrific, I forget her name but she had tattoos on her arms. Wonderful gal. The spicy sausage appetizer was the best part of the meal then it went to shit. The filet was a BEAUTIFUL piece of meat cooked to an absolutely prefect medium rare. However there was no flavor. Believe me when I say it must've had four grains of salt and that was it. No pepper no fucken nothin. Some poor Mignon cow lost his life for this bullshit. Like it was just a piece of meat with no seasoning. I almost asked for some A-1 just to choke it down. The mashed potatoes or excuse me "potato fucken purée" was average at best. Wife found her Salmon to be mid. For dessert we took the chocolate cake thing, and the strawberry cheesecake to go. The chocolate cake was like a 7/10 and the cheesecake was just like three separate piles of fuckery. Like the ingredients were just piled in the box waiting for assembly. It was the weirdest shit I've ever seen in my life. I should've taken a picture of it. Oh yeah the asshole piña colada wasn't blended it was just on the rocks with a nice paper fucken straw to slowly add some smoked wood flavor to my adult beverage. For $200 (plus tip mind you) this meal should've knocked my fucken socks off. Good lord this place needs some SERIOUS help. I can tell that the cooks know what they're doing but fuck man season the damn food. So in closing 1)season the food 2)ditch the paper straws 3)and blend the fucken drinks Oh I forgot to mention "ambiance". Think of a double wide from the 1970s with the floor vent collecting food crumbs under me then blowing air up my skirt. It was a nice touch.

Service was excellent. Our server, Lacy, was friendly, attentive, and witty - easily one of the best servers we've had in a while. For drinks, I had a local Oak Farm red wine that was excellent. Others in our group had mimosas, which were well received... especially the grapefruit mimosa, which my partner really enjoyed. For food, there were several highlights.
