    Zip Min

Stopped for lunch today and ate in their dining area.I ordered the Zip Min and was disappointed. The broth was dark and a bit salty. Others had the chili and rice and Won Ton Mein which was okay.

If donuts from Long's bakery is prominent in Indianapolis, then Zippy's is a staple in Honolulu - all over Hawaii. Its a dine-in restaurant but it also has fast food to go options as well. The service was quick and it was interesting to see that they have an option of getting a smaller portion option of all entrees on the menu. I ordered the Korean Fried chicken, rice, and Mac salad, and it was so good. Reasonably priced options on the menu. Also the restaurant is like a retro diner style but it give family friendly vibes. Its comfort food with the island and I see why people come here to dine.

We went to the grave today for Memorial Day as we always do after me and the family got hungry and a lot of the places I wanted to go were closed so instead we went to Zippys cause we had the grandkids usually we go Adela's but get bathroom at Zippy's wasn't to busy had parking food was good no problem with service I think I been to every Zippys on Oahu it's a hit or miss with them but today was

Usually have high praise for Zippy's Kaneohe. I always like their specials, this time. Chili with beans and a hotdog, mac salad& Two scoops of rice for $9.99! Very delicious& good value! Disappointed in the Hamburger Steak mini, only 1 patty which is delicious,1 scoop white rice & 1 scoop macaroni salad. Their competitors give you two patties! 1scoop rice &1 scoop mac salad. Regular portion gets you 2 scoops, 2 scoops mac salad. Brown gravy all over! Value is at the competition. Zippy's Is still consistent in quality, but the prices keep climbing. Service is always friendly & the restaurants clean !

Since the 1980's, Kaneohe Zippy's have been serving up classic dinner meals with local flair. I have spent many of late nights here growing up after clubbing in the early 80's. Haha, or after date night out with my girlfriend. The food has stayed pretty much consistent throughout the decades. Their fried chicken is still crispy and moist, the Zipmin and of course the Zippac are true local favorites. Although the quantity has been paired down due to the higher food prices these days it's still delicious. And of course you can't forget those Naples. Flaky beyond belief, coated with a sugar glaze and filled with apples,or coconut, or one of their newer flavors Ube. They say Zippy's is the first stop after you get off the airplane for local people.

Chili spaghetti with beans and garlic bread.

The chili with meat and beans on spaghetti came to the table piping hot and fresh! The spaghetti was perfectly cooked. What is so nice about this spaghetti is there was the best ratio between chili and spaghetti. I loved that I still had chili to eat with my last bite of spaghetti. I'm the type who asks for an extra helping of sauce when I order pasta dishes at other restaurants because I feel there is never enough sauce. Zippy's got the ratio right! I love the buttery garlic bread that was served warm and tasty. I enjoy this location as it is consistent and the staff is friendly.

Thursday July 3, 2025. I used the mobile app to order ahead of time. So, when I get there it's ready to go. Grab it from the food locker and remember to grab utensils before leaving. Good idea that they put it by the front entrance as you are leaving. Service is good. Ambiance is casual and comfortable. I will be back again.

We had Saimin & fried chicken. Other table members had zip pac & a cheeseburger.

Food was all good except our fried chicken it was over cooked burnt and dry!. We didn't grumble as considering we had great service and it was fairly busy and short staffed for a Sunday brunch time slot. **Kitchen crew, please tend to the fried chicken before over frying them please**

This was such a disappointing experience. I love chicken katsu and it's not bad at Zippy's, but this time was different. The mini chicken katsu that I ordered was indeed mini. The chicken pieces were so tiny and were dry. Compare it to the picture of my chicken katsu from last year, which was much bigger. Chicken Katsu: 0/5. I will not be getting this again anytime soon. Can go to other places and get chicken katsu for cheaper with a bigger portion. Side toss salad was good, which made me give 2/5 stars for this review.

Next stop. ZIPPYS! I used to be a fan of Zippy's, I think maybe some of us were/was back in the day, when the food was better, portions were bigger and prices were cheaper. Zippac costs almost 16.00. I noticed at this Kaneohe location, a lot of people order online and that's the way to go here because service is horrible. I guess like most anywhere, there is staff shortage, but what got me was this cashier named Julie who was so rude. Not a single smile and curt. Like she didn't enjoy her job or just having a bad day. Sheesh! I don't mind the soups, but the rotation in soups is very minimal, it's the same soup every few days. I love the spaghetti, I think that's my fave. Enjoy your Pasties and dobash cake.

Zippy's will always fulfill late night munchies. The restaurant side was closed so we decided to eat in on the fast food side. My go-to is the large saimin. I love that they put the soup on the side. We also ordered the mushroom burger, Garlic Miso Chicken, and side of chili fries. Surprisingly the fries were hot, like it was a new batch. And the saimin and burger hit the spot. I'm not sure if we will order the garlic miso chicken again, it was good, just not quite what we expected.

    Korean Fried Chicken
    Christian C.

I get the hype! Hefty plate of Korean fried chicken with plenty of chicken and rice. The Korean sauce is pretty sweet, but that's to be expected. Mac salad is not the best. Overall though happy with how juicy the chicken was and the portion size. I also tried an apple napple but didn't think it was anything special.

Since it is covered in gravy and the egg, you only can tell the meat is cutting into or looking for it while eating. I'm glad Mac Salad or other sides are Ala Carte or sold separately because I was stuffed after eating it. Service was awesome! Staff was nice and friendly. I saw one was willing to talk story to a table who was asking about the Business'History. Only complaint and drop a Star is Beverage Refills. While family got Coffee refills, I vaguely remember Water refills and more important was my Drink (Raspberry Iced Tea) even though it was a Big cup, no one checked if I wanted more. (I would have taken 1/2 glass full towards the end or topped off depending when they asked.) 2nd time here, if it wasn't a family outing and good time the first time, I would only return if the fam wants to come here again for Brunch/Lunch after we pay our respects to family at Valley of the Temple the nearby Cemetery.

For about $16 you get a heavily portioned plate with two scoops of rice, mixed green salad, asparagus, and a nicely cooked ahi steak. The garlic are actual cloves that have been cooked long enough to soften them and take away that bite without removing the garlicky goodness. The bomb sauce adds a bit of creaminess to round out the plate. They're a bit of a hole in the wall, takeout ideally due to the limited parking in front and seating. Menu is vast and they are open late/early. You can even get lobster here! For the prices, you'd easily pay $30 for the seafood options and portions at fancier establishments. So I consider upscale Hawaii a steal, just don't expect ambiance...it's all about the food.

It's super local except for what I guess are the occasional tourists that are visiting the temple and nearby campground. The lovely server took my order and promptly brought my decaf coffee. It was very much an old-school diner cup o' joe (weak) but at least it was fresh. I switched to regular caf later thinking it would be stronger, but it was the same. Not a dealbreaker, (but kind of expensive at $4.75 per cup- free refills). My sandwich wasn't stellar because they forgot the cheese that I requested, but I also forgot to order it on a bun instead of regular toasted bread, so it already had one strike against it. But that was my bad. Service was great and local vibe really nice. And speaking of camping, the café sells 20 pound bags of ice for $5. I think that's a pretty good deal and convenient if you're already having a meal there. Not sure how much they sell them for at Times Market next door, but I discovered that they have a small section of camping and fishing gear at the market that's very convenient to the area.
