Zippy's is always good we always eat there sometimes the wait is long but we wait. To much words nothing more to say review over

We are regular Zippy's dine in eaters. Tonight our server was Chanson. He was very personable and friendly. We got onto the topic of ice cream. He told us about some different places to try. My husband and I get Zippy's regularly and have had always had a good experience. Tonight was not a good experience. They had given our bite squad order to another drive so no problem, they made a new order. Go to open my burger and I literally got a bun, lettuce, tomato, onion, and sauce. Attempted to call them and I spoke to one person before transferring me and I was on for well over 15 minutes without customer service. Called back, got transferred again and still no customer service. Forget trying to get a refund because you can't even get anyone on the phone. Absolutely ridiculous. read more

Who has bad things to say about zippys? Never had a bad experience that they didn't immediately fix. Good food, good price, good people.

Zippy's and Denny's are the only two places in Kaneohe that are open late and are consistently inconsistent with their food and customer service. Case in point regarding Zippy's Kaneohe on Sun., 10/14/2018: The gal behind the counter was doing inventory of their supplies when we and another family stepped into Zippy's to order food. It took her about 1-2 minutes to notice us. That is way too long of a wait to notice us. Maybe she was zoned in on what she was doing, but come on. This was around 10:30pm on a Sunday evening. The place is definitely not jumping at that time. When she does acknowledge us, the phone starts ringing. The manager comes up at that time to take our order. They both let the phone keep on ringing. They could've said, "Just a moment, mam, while I answer this call and put the caller on hold." Some of you might be thinking, "Why didn't you say something then?" Why should I? They should've been trained on this already! It's either lack of training or caring, or probably both. My husband ordered the Chicken and Spaghetti plate and I ordered their Wun Tun Min. The food was hot and tasted okay. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy going to Zippy's, but this Zippy's is just bleh. Now, the Zippy's in Waipahu and Waiau...they're rocking it! Their food is hot and tasty and their customer service is AWESOME! So for Zippy's Kaneohe: 2 stars for the food and 1 star for the customer service. read more

The only thing I order from the is the chili with rice. I knew I shouldn't have done any different. Everytime I do, I am so disappointed. Turkey with stuffing. The turkey was so dry and the stuffing was nearly absent. There's was about a tsp or less, of cranberry sauce that looked like it accidentally dripped in there by mistake. read more

I've always been a fan of Zippy's just like any other local, but went to Zippy's after church with the family and I couldn't help but notice the flies in the restaurant side of Zippy's! I even heard the lady at the table next to me tell her husband this fly is driving me nuts!!! I then started to look around the restaurant and I'm not kidding, almost every lamp shade above each table had a fly on it, one had two flies on the shade and three more on the wire going up into the ceiling... I don't know who needs to hear or see this review but I hope it's taken as personal experience that wasn't pleasant and take the time to fix the problem! read more

Zippy's Kaneohe sit down dinner...a blast from the past...still popular with all sorts of Kaneohe residents. Daughter had no school today so I was going to take her to lunch at an up and coming Yelp recommended place. I got delayed so I asked her where she wanted to go to dinner. "I want to go to Zippy's! I want Zippy's Chili on rice." Alrighty then...we haven't been there since she was 4...It was her idea so I gotta respect that...I just won't check in on Yelp and no one will need to know. LOL! Plus, I like Corn bread and I like Chili. Ambience: Actually very nice and modern place with pendent lights everywhere. Nearly empty when we arrived. Later filled up. Average age of all present: 60+ years old. Service: Very pleasant and attentive waitress who knew the complicated menu inside and out. Food: Chili on Rice for the daughter. Winners for her. 5 stars from her as it was just what she was craving for. Wife was happy happy with fried chicken and white rice. No nonsense comfort food. 4 Stars from her. There was so much she couldn't even finish it. ***Of course, I have to be different. Not wanting to clog my arteries so easily I start looking for vegetarian options on the menu. So I choose vegetarian chili and corn bread. I didn't think this would be enough so I looked further and found a tofu vegetarian burger on a bun that would come with a salad and not fries. The result: Salad was fresh and tasty for 3 Stars. Vegetarian Chili was pretty good but not very spicy. I have some seasoning at home that would really kick this up a notch. The corn bread was more like yellow cake. Not my favorite. I like heavy hearty cornbread that is the opposite of cake. The burger had a good tofu patty. The whole wheat bun was a bit dried out. 3 star average. But, this place is a glimpse of Kaneohe 15 years ago. Before Pah Ke's, before Ruby Tuesday and Jamba Juice. A glimpse at a simpler time when dining out was easy and didn't cost much and Zippy's was a big part of our little town. I'm sure I probably knew some of the old timers who were dining there. So I ordered and I paid online and got a time of when my food will be available. When you park in the mobile pick up it says to please check your email and click on the link so that Zippy's will know you are there. I clicked on the link and was very disappointed with the response that only now they will begin to prepare my order. I thought it must just be an error, but nope. After placing my order and receiving an email that my order will be ready in 15 minutes and pulling up to mobile pick up 15 minutes after placing my order I had to wait an additional 20 minutes for them to create my order. It was just frustrating because the whole point of ordering earlier and paying online was to avoid the wait. read more

After I wrote my review I was contacted by Zippy's management asking about exact details. They offered me a very sincere apology and they thanked me for my time and for letting them know how they can serve their customers better. They even sent me a thank you card and a free meal for my help. Any company that takes time out to better themselves is right on in my book. I went back but didn't see the waitress that helped my friends and I but I was helped by another person and she was good. She had a nice friendly smile, gave me a menu, water. Came back to take my order and serve my food hot. Refilled my water without me asking. Tried to upsell me to dessert. Now this is how to be a good waitress. This was absolutely my last time dining in this Zippys dining room! We ordered 1 kokua pack, 1 small won ton mein, and a patty melt with fries. The kokua pack comes out in about 10min which I thought was pretty fast. 10 min go bye and nothing, after another 10 min goes bye my mom is almost done with her kokua pack, so I ask a random waiter to check on the rest of our order. He promptly returns and says she's making your broth now........ 1 min later our waitress finally brings the rest of our order! Fries and burger are now cold but I'm so hungry at this point I just eat the burger and wonton mein. I could see if the restaurant was busy but it wasn't. The table behind us which had a different waitress came after us and ordered after us got their food before us. I know it's not our waitress's fault. Waitress's/waiters here have to host, take orders, serve, and buss tables? That's retarded! Go to any other restaurant and they have workers designated to each job! Host/hostess, waiter, server, and buss? OH don't forget about cashier! Wait staff here has to do that too!!!!!! Tanaka Saimin, Big city diner, kapiolani coffee shop, likelike drive in, aiea bowl, Haleiwa joes, kikuya, and pretty much every other restaurant that cares about their guests! This might be the first Zippys location to shut down if nothing is done to correct their service soon. So sad! Ordered take-out for ONE chili bowl & a large saimin (soup separate). Went home to our surprise we got 2 chili bowls & noodles with no soup. I tried to mix the chili with the saimin noodles but didn't taste so good hahaha zippys Kaneohe never fails to screw up take out orders. I've been to different Zippy's around the island but Kaneohe was the worst ever! We had to wait for a table, about 10 to 15 minutes. There were tables available but assumed they were short staffed. It took another 15 minutes to order our food. No problem, I was in good company but it took 40 minutes to get our food...and my french fries were cold. I had rice, bacon, and eggs. The rice was cold and very dry. My husband had pancakes and it was a little hard and black stuff from the grill. Our favorite is breakfast, always happy to eat at Zippy's but not this time. Even the manager tried to help deliver the food. This is the first time we were NOT asked how was everything. I should of read the YELP on Zippy's but didn't think anyone could mess up breakfast that bad. read more

I used their mobile app. Overall very convenient but I kept getting an error message with regards to my credit card. I had to get out of the app then log back in twice. Show up to get my lunch there was a large line for restaurant dining room so I went inside as my order was take out. The Lady inside with an attitude rold me I have to wait in dining room line. what can i say.. brought my tourist family for a good dinner. It was on their bucket list to try zippy. I was pretty disappointed with the service. the server keep apologizing to us that there's only three of them. the place was pretty empty but she took at least a good 20 minutes to sit us down and our water was another 20 minutes. its hard when all on our party was HANGRY.. i asked the server to let us know if the food will take a long time to come out and she said it should be fine. It didn't.. another 20minutes to take our order and she forgot our dessert so we just had it to go. Price is the same.. nothing really special, but I really didn't get the aloha spirit at this location. read more

This has probably been the worst service we ever had! We had soup and they left the dish on the table when they brought the meal. They left the dish and I finished my meal, stacked it up for them and they just passed it by. When it was time for dessert they didn't have much to choose from. They said they ran out due to yesterday being Fathers Day. Horrible service. I don't want to say a name because the lady is old, but I think they should train people to clear and serve. *THIS REVIEW IS FOR THE TAKE-OUT SECTION, NOT THE SIT-DOWN SECTUON* So my family and I have been coming to Hawaii every year for 10 years and this Zippy's was a huge disappointment compared to all the other Zippy's we've been to. We walked up to the window and saw that where was a huge wait for the sit-down section of the restaurant. So we decided to go to the other side (the take-out side) so we didn't have to wait. My family ordered our food at 7:50pm (which was noted on our recipt). There was a handful of people that was behind us in line BUT they got their food before us?! We figured maybe they ordered less than us. 20 minutes pass and no food. My parents were worried that the food is already cooked would get cold so I went up to ask for the parts of our order that were already ready. They told us NONE OF OUR ORDER WAS EVEN COOKED YET. And after 20 minutes? Really? I was upset and all they offered me (and other customers waiting) a free drink. We finally got out food after 30 minutes and they forgot a part of our order. I was worried after reading some of the recent poor reviews, especially since it's been awhile since I've gone here (I live in Seattle now but from Kaneohe.) I came here twice recently. Once came here to grab a breakfast sandwich to go and an Apple napple. Sandwich was tasty and cheap. The Naples wasn't as thick and flaky as I remembered it to be but still good to eat. Second time I called in zip pacs to take with me on my flight back to the mainland in the morning. I thought I'd be put on hold forever like some of the reviews, but someone answered right away. The food was ready for me on time when I arrived. Also let me sub out fish for extra fried chicken! Maybe the morning crew does better? Or things have improved for the best since the other bad reviews. For me, thankfully I had a good experience and felt like nothing changed since I lived here. read more

This past rainy Monday I decided to buy 3 turkey jook for me and my parents. I called in my order because the app kept telling me to sign in although I was already signed in so I just called it in. The lady taking my order was nice and my order was ready when I got there (but then again how hard is it to pour porridge into a container- don't get me started on Kailua Zips Halloween 2019). Took my order home and noticed it did not contain my side order char siu x3. I called to inquire but was placed on hold for over 7 minutes so I hung up. I left a bad review and got an email telling me they'd look into my complaint. Nothing more, no partial refund or free order of chili. So at the bottom of the email I it asked if my issue was resolved and I answered no. I said I would really like my side order char siu but haven't heard back from Zippy's. I guess with the worker shortage, there's a shortage of management to because Zips used to care about making things right. read more

We had family visiting from CA who were staying on the Windward side. We ate dinner at the restaurant on 12/25/18. It was hard to find something open on this side of the island on Christmas day that was reasonably priced, nothing fancy. It was either Zippy's or Big City Diner in the mall. Since we had already eaten at the Big City Diner in Pearlridge, the only option left was Zippy's. I was quite hesitant to even bring my family here based on the last few recent reviews regarding poor service. Add to the fact, couple of family members were picky eaters so didn't need this compounded with bad service. We had a large group of 8 plus our 8-month old great grandson. We got there are 6PM expecting the parking lot & restaurant to be packed but was pleasantly surprised. The take out counter was busy but the restaurant was half empty & there was ample parking. We had a short wait for our table since they had to set that up for our large party. The hostess was quite friendly & it didn't take us long to be seated. I think the wait was about 5 minutes. Our waiter came by shortly to take our order. I don't recall his name exactly. I thought his name tag said Ryan but the receipt said Dane O. He was not only very friendly, but funny & attentive to our needs. Any requests we had, he promptly fulfilled with a smile. Our food took a little bit to come but it wasn't a "I'm so damn hangry, where's my food?" kind of wait. I felt it was a reasonable time. I had one of the holiday dinners which was a salmon with a wonderful cream sauce. Hubby had the cold somen salad, one of his faves which did not disappoint. He recommended the club sandwich to his son, which he also liked. Mom had the garlic steak, which was ok in her opinion. The rest of the group had prime burgers. One group member decided to try the corn chowder, which she loved. When she got her burger though, the bottom of the bun was hard. We thought maybe because it was toasted but no, it was rock hard, like old bread sitting out. Our waiter promptly replaced it, still with a smile on his face. Overall service was great! Even the busyboy/elderly Filipino guy entertained our great grandson as he wiped down the other tables, making the little guy just laugh & giggle. Another waitress also was talking to the baby & made him laugh. When we got done with dinner, I asked our visitors what they thought of Zippys & they said they really enjoyed it. And the one who had the hard bun said it was the best burger she's had on the island since they been here (she had eaten at Teddy's earlier in the week!) I told them how glad I was that they enjoyed the restaurant & the food & how I was worried, based on the previous reviews, that the same fate would befall us. Overall, their food is good. No complaints. The reason for 4 stars is their zip app. When im done paying for the food, the app does not load the points via the scan or code. You have to wait. By time the paid check is updated, I forget. So it's pointless to have the app. Update the time the check is paid to update the Zip app. Then yes, 5 read more

I'm giving this one an extra star for great service. Wish now I had made it a point to remember the server's name. Took the whole family tonight, wife, 2 kids, grandma. Kids got mac&cheese, my wife & gma got the wonton soup. I tried to order the somen salad, was told they discontinued (still showed on menu), opted to get the zip min (special saimin). Adults shared a banana splits & kids got chocolate pudding for desert. Food was pretty good, not exactly awesome, but service was excellent, food came out quick, not too pricey, ordered, ate, got out I would say within an hour. Always hit or miss here. And it seems like they are never staffed sufficiently when they should be; like after football games and weekend nights. It is convenient because they are always open but it's never consistent. Chili, Zippy's omelette and sweet bread French toast are our go to's but everything else is inconsistent. We ordered out today. My zip pac is always different. Sometimes the spam is pan fried, sometimes, like today, it literally seemed straight from the can. The Teri beef was thick, chewy, and hardly any sauce and they didn't give me tartar sauce for my fish. I guess I should've learned to stick to my usuals. When I asked what is this charge for, the waitress told me it is for the kitchen staff to show appreciation. WTH! If you don't care about eating the toppings that come with your donuts, please buy them at Zippy's Kaneohe. In order to stuff as many donuts into a box and save the restaurant money, donuts such as the frosted maple bars are shoved into boxes so when you remove, the frosting remains on the sides of the box and/or other donuts ... just not the donut you spent so much on. We also never fail to receive boxes and paper receipts smeared with donut frosting. And this is a consistent occurrence. We only continue to buy because we hope for better. That's our fault. Anyone who lives in Hawaii goes to Zippy's. Their oxtail soup and Turkey dinners are yummy. The salads are not good. I've tried all of them and it needs help. Great place to order large platters for takeout parties. The fried noodles and chicken never disappoints. The service really suffers. I do a lot of take out orders and it's rarely right. You're lucky to get through on the first try and speak to someone who won't mess up your order. read more
