My wife and I showed up for our first Ziziki's visit without a reservation early on Saturday night of Valentine's Day weekend: yeah, I know, not terribly smart. The hostesses offered to let us sit at the empty bar and we agreed. The bartender was great: quick wine suggestions, there when you needed him, busy elsewhere otherwise. The atmosphere was great: the open kitchen spills sounds and smoky smells throughout the main dining room, which is an irregular shape and moderate size. It's a comfortable place to be. We started with a trio appetizer platter with dolmadas, artichoke hummus, and spanikopita. The pita for the hummus was wonderful: crisp on the outside and light and airy inside. The entrées we selected were the tuna souvlaki and the stuffed lamb loin. Both were great: full of flavor. The portions were probably too big, but that's almost a universal issue at restaurants. The baklava ice cream dessert was an improvement over straight-up baklava, in my mind. The moisture from the ice cream combined with the baklava flavor was a winning combination. Somebody else's lipstick stain on the cup and waitress that immediately forgets everything, leaves in the middle of taking orders and never comes back, anyone? Very bad impression, definitely not returning there! Waitress seemed either not sober or under some substance influence. Barely spoke full sentences, forgot to finish taking our orders, repeatedly asked the same questions 5 times, brought our main dishes before the appetizer... Was not impressed with this place at all. Bridal party and family members came here for brunch the day after my nephews wedding. I'm sorry but every food item I had was either bland or weirdly seasoned. Plus the most watered down mimosas and by far the worst bloody mary ever. The bloody mary was so strong, (and not in a good way if you know what I mean!). It had so much worcestershire sauce in it that I almost gagged. I asked for a glass of tomato juice to try and calm it down and the server stated that they didn't carry tomato juice. It was just made with a mix. No wonder why it was awful! For some reason I thought Ziziki's was a Deli. I was quite wrong. We stumbled upon the original location on a Thursday evening after looking for a restaurants on Knox that had more than two people inside. Dining while being outnumbered by waitstaff is AWKWARD. We were seated immediately, 30 minutes into our meal the room started to fill up and it had a pretty good ambiance. I do think their hood vent needs updating however, the dining room does get pretty smelly since most of their foods are grilled. For me, the most pleasant surprise I had was the spanikopita. I typically never eat this since I am not a fan of feta. But this version was more spinachy and well balanced in flavors. I had the kefta kebab entree and it was well seasoned, moist, with a slight lamb flavor. It is a bit pricey. Plan about $40/pp if you plan on libations. read more

They have a great brunch that is a great value. We went for mother's day two years in a row once. Everything is fresh. Buffet style. I also love their chicken sandwich at lunch. I did not eat chicken sandwiches until I ate this one. It comes on pita bread with ziziki sauce. And of course those roasted potatoes are what that is. I also can second the salmon and veggie souvlakis. I generally combo them together. Their salad without the greens is also awesome. I love it-it's red onions, marinated garlic, feta cheese, cucumbers and olives. I think its the meditarranean. A good fresher feeling alternative for eating out. The chocolate cake is nice and moist especially a la mode. The tiramisu is average. Spanakopita is good according to my sister but I am not into it so much. We started with the trio platter. I really liked the spanakopita, the other two elements (hummus and the dolmas) were not entirely my favorite, maybe they had too much spices and herbs on them. We also ordered the sliced leg of lamb and the same thing happened. We got the half greek salad and that was ok. For dessert I was expecting a good basic baklava but they didn't have it. Went to Ziziki's last night per a couple friend's suggestion (they were going, so I tagged along). I'm so glad I did! The restaurant itself was hard to find, so I'm glad I went with this couple who had already been. However, I like the al fresco dining as it's in a courtyard of sorts, so once you find the place it's really adorable. We started with the Dolmades which were great. A nice portion size for 3 people to split. For my entree, I had their Lamb Souvlakis, which was excellent. The lamb was perfectly marinated and cooked, the pita and ziziki sauce were top notch. I'm very excited to go back and get this again. Our service was great too. Looking forward to going back with my hubby--we moved to Dallas from Chicago just over two years ago, and it's great to know there are solid full-service Greek restaurants down the street from our house! read more

Saturday,July 20,2019 6 of my friend had dinner at Ziziki on Forest and Preston. We were on time and had a reservation and seated right at the front door which was noisy and disruptive. The food was served Luke warm and the chops and shrimp were not a high quality and were tough. It was less than mediocre and although we expressed our disappointment to the waiter nothing was done. Had the lamb soulvaki for my birthday lunch with some coworkers. Lamb came with rosemary potatoes. They were on the greasy side but was crunchy. If you are yearning for lamb for lunch come to Ziziki's. They have several options of lamb. Lamb soulvaki, lamb of leg (sliced), and rack of lamb. Since the company was paying, I really wanted have rack of lamb but i didn't want to seem like a fat bastard. So i settled for the lamb soulvaki. I wasn't disappointed nonetheless. The square kabobs of lamb were placed on a skewer and covered with this delicious greek yogurt. The lamb soulvaki was so delicious. It was cooked to the right temperature a medium rare. It had a nice char. It was a bit on the chewy side. It was dressed with vegtetables. The potatoes were surprising good as well. They were nice and crispy and were well seasoned. It also came with a feta onion salad. Lunch here is a bit pricey. It's 12-20 a person for lunch. Luckily it was my birthday. Oh and they have a different menu for lunch. This is absolutely the best Greek restaurant to dine at in Dallas and my personal favorite! I dined here on a Friday night with a friend who was new to Dallas and a big fan of Greek food. As I expected, she also became hooked on this place and was thankful for my suggestion. For our appetizer, we had the Spanakopita. It's a flaky dough pastry filled with spinach , onions, and feta cheese and served along with olives, sliced onions, and Roma tomatoes. The ingredients were a perfect combination for flavor and texture. If you want to prolong the enjoyment of the Spanakopita, I suggest ordering it for yourself or sharing it with no more than 1 other person due to the portion size. For the main entree, we ordered the Chicken souvlaki. Let me tell you, Ziziki's is VERY generous on the portion size for the Chicken Souvlaki. Both my friend and I wanted to share that entree and expected for only one gyro to be served. BUT when the dishes came out with our food split, we each had our own gyro and roasted garlic potatoes. It literally looked like one meal size for a "shared portion". So if you're hungry and you order the Chicken Souvlaki expect to see 2 gyros. Otherwise, if you want to share, this portion will leave both parties very full and happy. Another small treat I liked about this place is that they offer free Andes chocolates in the bathroom! If you love Andes, be sure to grab some. (Sometimes the little things in life do matter you know!) Note that Ziziki's location off Knox and Travis is hidden in the complex. When you valet or park your car, you'll have to walk further into the plaza to find the restaurant as it is not visible along the street. Also, the service and atmosphere is pleasant and trendy inside, so immediately you have a very good first impression.. So definitely check this place out and you won't be disappointed! read more

Ziziki's My wife and I have fallen in love with the Knox/Henderson area of Dallas. We recently ate at Ziziki's on a date night out. This is now one of our go to restaurants. The restaurant is located in the "Travis Walk" Area of the Knox neighborhood, which reminds us of Rodeo drive in Beverly Hills, CA. Our waitress was great. When eating Greek, we always crave some sort of olive, feta cheese, pita bread kind of thing. Since they didn't have an appetizer quite like that on the menu, our server suggested put these things together for us for $8! We both got a big glass of wine ($8) and dinner was on! The feta was very flavorful and the pita bread was warm and soft. I ordered the lamb souvlaki for $18 and my wife ordered the vegetable souvlaki for $15. The lamb was cooked perfectly and was so tender. You know how lamb can be a little gamy tasting when the meat is not as good? Not Ziziki's. It was seasoned just right and the lamb itself had great flavor. My wife's veggie souvlaki also was bursting with Greek flavors. The veggies were cooked to the point that they had great texture but were hearty because they were not soggy. The roasted potatoes were amazing! They were Golden brown on the outside and soft on the inside. The ambiance of this restaurant was very romantic. We sat outside on a beautiful night. My only complaint was that the bathrooms were in need of a cleaning and maybe even a painting/remodeling. Strange that such an amazing restaurant in the wealthiest area in Dallas had a men's room that is so run down. My wife said her bathroom was ok. It's the ONLY reason I did not give it 5 stars. We had such a great experience at Ziziki's last week. First we got the Ziziki bread - basically just cheese on pita with some seasonings and ziziki sauce to dip it in, but super tasty. We also shared the saganaki. Also good. As you can tell, we like our cheese. For our main courses, I got the pastichio and my boyfriend got the lamb shank. Both were delicious. I also really liked the restaurant itself - and the service! Its small and has some character - definitely a good date night restaurant. The server was very attentive, but not to the point that we felt rushed. I've heard that they have a delicious brunch buffet, so I will definitely be going back at some point to try that! read more

Oppa!!!! Ziziki's is a different kind of greek restaurant from what I've came across within the Dallas suburbs. I would not declare it the winner of it all, however, I would highly recommend this establishment!! The service was on point on all aspects and the food was okay. I loved the finishing dessert, the bakalava ice cream and espresso. The ziki sauce, however, was a little too on the buttery side and the starting appetizer was good but just different from what I've experience. Overall, I loved the ambiance on how cozy it was and the happy hours, from what i can recollect and this restaurant almost resembles a lot of what New York establishments are set up similar like; Small, Chic, Cozy and great service!! Places like these make me remember that Restaurants are not just about food but the service and environment that creates the overall experience to be the best experience. read more

We parked in the garage below the complex for free and then took the stairs to Ziziki's. It was raining the night we visited so it was nice that everything was covered. We were taken to the back room and greeted by our waiter. The lighting was romantic and there was soft music playing in the background. Our water glasses were filled before we realized we had even taken a sip. Appetizers: Ziziki Bread and Calmari - The ziziki bread tasted just like a pizza and with the ziziki sauce made it that much better. I loved both and wished we had more. We shared the Ahi Tuna Soulakis, Veggie Soulvaki, Chicken Souvlakis, Lamb Soulakis, and Stuffed Lamb Loin. The portions were filling and reasonably priced. The potatoes were seasoned and cooked just right as well as all of the meat. The lamb loin was soft and moist and with the feta, garlic, and spinach stuffed inside made it melt in your mouth. We were full after dinner but could not resist sharing dessert because they sounded too good. The baklava cake was crunch, sweet and perfect. My favorite was the chocolate liquor cake. It was rich and delicious. My friends would be mad if i didn't mention the bathroom. There is only one bathroom that is shared by everyone but the hand towels and decor make up for it. read more

The fun menu and food are consistently served hot and tasty. We've been in for quick early dinner bites, romantic evenings, and have hosted multiple over-20-people birthday and anniversary parties over the many years. The biggest draw is Miguel...our party and dining tour-guide of Ziziki's!! Miguel ALWAYS remembers our preferences and our requirements (no onions for my wife). She eats smaller amounts, so he brings her half to eat, and half later to take home. He even remembers her affinity for the color purple...flowers and decor. I had the shrimp salad for lunch. The shrimps were jumbo size which was not expected. The seasoning was fantastic...grilled...salted just enough and the spices were just right. My friend had the chicken salad and surprisingly the chicken was seasoned perfectly and juicy. My boyfriend and I recently moved to the area and decided to try out Ziziki's. We have had many friends recommend this place; however, because I LOVE greek food and try it pretty much everywhere I go I wasn't too impressed. Quite simply, I've had better. The waitress we had was snobby and too pushy- although, she did let us try a few different wines before we chose a bottle. The first 2 wines we tried we weren't too fond of but finally ended up getting a bottle of Cabernet. I was a little surprised at the wine list. I am used to restaurants marking up the wine bottles but some of these bottles were excessively marked up. There was a cabernet that you could normally buy at World Market for around $10/bottle that was marked up by over 300%. I had the sliced leg of lamb and it was delicious. The pita was homemade and the meat was pretty tender. It came with potatoes on the side. I was a little surprised that I didn't have any leftovers. At most greek places I have gone to, they give you so much food that there is no way you could possibly finish it all! For dessert we had the Baklava. The flavors were top notch but it was served room temperature & I am used to it being served warm. Overall, because of the waitstaff and what you get for your money I give this place 3 stars (would give 3 1/2 if I could). read more

I would almost classify Ziziki's as a Dallas staple but it has never done much for me. I went again the other day and the location is kind of random and cute. I have a hard time judging their food. I am admittedly not a huge fan of Greek food so it is a little hard for me to distinguish if I am not a giant fan of their food or just more Greek food at large. Their pita bread is good, but then again all pita bread is good to me. The service there is pretty good and like I said, I like the feel and location. I am not in love with the food and need to remember it is not my taste next time someone wants to go. To me Ziziki's is just OK. I personally prefer Ali Baba's. The gyro meat is a little too tough for me and it doesn't seem seasoned very well. They do have a cheese pizza appetizer that is pretty darn good on a thin pita. The Sunday brunch is pretty good since you have multiple things on the buffet to choose from: gyro, dolmas, chicken, etc. with bottomless Mimosas. Oh wait, maybe that's why it's good :) Plus I think they are a little pricey for the quality/quantity of food that you get. read more

They're still awesome. They've been one of my "go to's" since I moved here years ago. Service rocks, food is amazing, and the atmosphere is really classy and relaxing. I'd strongly recommend the Artichoke Humus or Spanakopita triangles, Pastichio (huge), any of the lamb or orzo dishes. I usually get the Ziziki Lamb Salad or the Greek Paella. Ziziki's has been a long term favorite in our family. The rich smell of garlic and roasting lamb immediately relaxes me, like being in my mother's kitchen as a child. The wine list is always good. Even the inexpensive wines will be tasty. The food is fantastic! There's vegetarian, lamb, chicken, and fish. The salads are addictive, and I love the chicken fettucine with white wine sauce. I recommend the mediterranean pita bread for an appetizer. The calamari is the best I've had any where, ever! For desert, the chocolate liquor cake with vanilla ice cream is delicious, but you might be too full to eat it! Portions are generous, and there is no shortage on flavor. The staff has always been the best part. They always make an effort to remember you, so you are greeted with familiarity when you arrive. Everyone wants to feel special when they're out. I went here with a few co-workers on a Sunday for brunch. I hadn't eaten Greek food in a very long time, and the fact that it was buffet style made it better so that I could pick and choose. Ziziki's is our go-to spot for a relaxed romantic night where we know the service will be consistently excellent and the food will be delicious. Plus they have a terrific selection of fine Greek wines. (Remember, Greeks INVENTED wine!) We always make sure Gretchen is working and try to get a seat in her section because her enthusiasm and attention to detail always make our visits fun. We know she'll have recommendations for good wine pairings or new entrees and she's been there long enough to know what we're going to like. Case in point- when they were about to expand the wine list to include new Greek wines, we had an in depth discussion about them; she knew a lot about the various regions and what they produce. (I lived in Greece when I was younger and my father was an oenofile, so *that* was a fun chat!) Her enthusiasm and passion for the new wines made us come right back again as soon as they were offered and we now try new/different ones whenever we visit. I'm working in Chicago this winter and discovering Ziziki's is the restaurant I miss the most in Dallas. I can wait to go back the next time I'm back in town! read more
