Listen...I don't know how I JUST now ate here recently. Idk how, what, when, where I was, but this was kinda sorta life changing for me. I was a cava girly!! But after eating here, I'm now a Zoa girly!!! I had 1 bowl of their Marrakesh bowl and now idk how to act. I can't stop thinking about it. Let's be fr. The beef tagine? Amazing. I should have gotten extra omg. I had the saffron rice as a base and wow? The flavors were melting in my tongue I couldn't even speak. 100/10 that's all I have to say.

If you like the creativity of Chipotle & cava, then my friend... I now introduce the Moroccan way! So incredibly good - so many bursting flavors that mend well no matter what toppings you get. If you are hesitant, they give free samples - don't be afraid to jump in there and try 2 or 3 options.. or all of them .. I enjoyed my time, restaurant was clean, trendy, inviting and the service was patient, kind and very helpful in explaining the Moroccan culture! Felt like I was in a different country.. 10000/10

Zoa is absolutely fire! If you're in the mood for something quick, healthy, affordable, and most importantly tasty you gotta give this place a try. Think Chiptole or CAVA, but BETTER. So colorful, so flavorful. I made my own bowl with saffron rice, lamb, and a plethora of toppings. I mixed everything together as I was eating and it was just a party in my mouth with every bite. Everything complimented each other so well. Definitely planning to come back.

Food and service was amazing. It was our first time visiting and we were encouraged to try as many samples as we wanted. The spice was just right, hot mint tea was delicious after. Will definitely be back

In the 5 years that Zoa has been in the Heights, it has managed to become one of the city's most hyped businesses while garnering one of the highest ratings of any establishment in Houston. It has expanded to several locations around the loop and become the gold standard for consistent, delicious fast casual. Not half bad for a business that started during COVID. I'm not one to buy into the hype easily, but I've never had a bad meal here. It seems that they have so much going right for them that it's really hard to pinpoint all the things I love about them. Could it be the stellar customer service? The quaint, brightly lit, yet inviting interior? The Moroccan vibe with all the decor pieces and aroma of the tea brewing in the background? Maybe it's the fact they're never too busy and coupled by the fact they can churn out orders quickly and efficiently. Perhaps it's the delicious food, from aromatic soups to fabulous combinations of meat and veggie friendly options. More than likely, it's all of the above. The combinations feature a variety of proteins, with a choice of mixed greens, saffron rice, quinoa brown rice, or couscous. The Marrakesh (beef tagine) is my favorite for now, followed by the casablanca (lamb meshwi) and the kenitra (beef kefta). Bowl prices fluctuate between $11-12 but that's the most expensive item on the menu (so far). Additionally, I appreciate that they're an ideal space for solo diners and/group feasts. It's a near perfect lunch option and a fabulous casual meal with plenty of vegetarian, gluten-free, and Halal options. Wow! Love this place. If I lived or worked in the area, I'd be a regular, for sure. Delicious, healthy, colorful, and affordable. Their specialty is Mediterranean bowls. Build your own, or they have standards you can choose, as-is or with some changes. We each had lamb bowls. Mine was the Casablanca bowl. The other two in my party custom-built theirs. Each of us were delighted with our choice. Each bowl cost us about $12 each. Their bottled Moroccan tea is great. It's pre-sweetened but not overly so, and very refreshing. We also tried a couple of desserts. One was a huge macaroon, and the other was some type of date bar that was surprisingly delicious with a flavor that reminded me of pecan pie. The place is as casual as a Chipotle. But much healthier and with a whole lot more choices. You could eat there every day and not make the same bowl twice. Our behind-the-counter server was so sweet. She explained everything very well that it made it easy for us, as first-timers, to order with confidence. They have more than one location in Houston. This one took a moment to find but it was pretty close to I-10 and they had dedicated parking spaces. I don't see a lot of casual restaurants with so many reviews and such a high, five-star rating. But now I can see why this one is thoughts of so well by its customers!

For simplicity sake, consider this place a tastier CAVA. Zoa is a build your own Mediterranean bowl with meats and sides. They also have several pre-designed bowls that are popular too. I ordered the Fez, which comes with Chicken Chermoula, Confit Onions, Pickles & Olives, Zaalouk, Pickled Red Onion Cabbage, Greens, and Red Harissa (copied from their menu). The flavors were delicious and paired well together. The sauces made everything a little creamy and a little spicy. They do note the red harissa is very spicy, but I found it to be quite mild. I previously had the Casablanca bowl, which I also recall being pretty good. The servers are friendly and answer questions about the sides or how to order. The value is pretty good too. The Fez bowl came out to ~$12, which is on par with other build your own bowl spots, but this tasted way better.

Wow! To say I am amazed by this place is an understatement. Came here on a whim; just saw it on the map and noticed it was on our way to where we were going after. It's a little tucked away, just off of N Shepherd, across the street from Coffee House at West End. Parking is limited, but it wasn't too crowded when we went, and there's plenty street parking nearby. The staff was very friendly and explained to us how their system worked. Very similar to places like Chipotle and Cava. However, I think this place is even better. There are so many options for bases, proteins, and toppings, and you can get it in a bowl or in bread. I ordered a bowl with roasted chicken and assorted toppings, and it was absolutely delicious! The chicken was moist and super flavorful. The toppings were great too. I especially liked the Cinnamon Carrots--I thought the sweetness of it worked so well with the spices of everything else. The seating area is also super cute and on-theme. Overall, I really enjoyed my experience at Zoa. It will definitely be part of my regular rotation now.

A Chipotle style build your bowl experience like I've never had before! I walked in not knowing anything and asked the staff for recommendations, and I was more than pleased with the results. I chose to try two proteins (beef tagine and lamb meshiwi), two bases (saffron rice and quinoa brown rice), as well as four free toppings all in a bowl, topped with slightly spicy garlic aioli sauce. What a mix of flavors! I've never had Moroccan food, so I can't comment on the authenticity, but it sure was good! This restaurant location is slightly on the smaller side with limited seating and parking out front, but my friends and I had no problem finding seating/parking off peak hours when visiting at 1:30pm last Sunday. Pro tip: if it's your first time visiting, you can ask for samples if you're unsure what protein to choose.

Delicious!! Think of Chipotle-style, customized plates but with Moroccan food. There are a variety of different meats and veggies, my favorites were the kefta, pickled cabbage, eggplant, and saffron rice. Nothing but great things to say about Zoa. I've actually never tried Moroccan food before. One of my friends goes here frequently and loves it and said I should try. I was told this is kind of like a build your own bowl style of place. I ended up just going with the pre-built Casablanca bowl. The gentleman working said it was one of the most popular bowls. I added hummus and feta for reference. This exceeded my expectations, I literally ate the whole thing. Perfect mix of tangy and creamy. I will most definitely be going back. Oh my gosh! I have never experienced Moroccan food before, this is AMAZING! Loaded with flavors. I haven't a clue what I ate, because when we walked in and told them we didn't know what to order, they helped us make selections on our taste. I had a bowl with lettuce, potato cakes, and several other items. The flavors were beautiful. My husband had the sandwich. He isn't much into eating a lot of bread, but this bread is soft and moist that he ate it all! I would recommend getting this to go and enjoying it on a blanket next to the bayou. If this review was solely based on the food, I would have given it a 4 or 5, but because of what I experienced with my food at Zoa, I'm not sure whether I'd like to return. I ordered the Zabat bowl and while eating, I found and inch-long metal hook-shaped wire found in my potato cake. I was very close to swallowing it, but fortunately I noticed it in my mouth and was able to spit it out. I would have eaten the full bowl, but one I noticed the metal I was instantly put off. I have attached an image of the metal to this review. I'm aware that this is a new restaurant, but that is no excuse for having METAL in your food. I was honestly very excited for the food, but I no longer feel like I will be a patron at Zoa in the future. I don't usually write bad reviews, even if I wasn't a fan of the food, but this is the first time I have expedited something like this. Prior to writing this review, I even tried to call the restaurant a few times, but I was sent to a voicemail box which did not have any capacity for any new messages. I'm disappointed by this experience and the service at Zoa. read more

got takeout from here tonight and it was very good! everything was extremely flavorful and delicious. i created my own bowl with greens, chicken, fava hummus, red cabbage, chickpea salad, and cauliflower (+ some bread) and i highly recommend. be warned: it is very heavy and filling and the portions are large. if you have a sturdy stomach (or, unlike me, just a digestive system that does it's job) you will surely love this place. also, imo while it was very flavorful, it was almost too flavorful as there was little balance on the plate-- i wish that the greens were undressed and one or two of the aspects of the dish were a little more subtle, but since i combined everything myself perhaps that is my own fault! either way it was a very pleasant experience. :) read more

Holy explosion of flavors! I'm so impressed by how well the sweet, savory, and spicy flavors of the individual ingredients meld together without any one being overwhelming. Stumbled upon this place, and decided to give it a chance. I've never had Moroccan food so wasn't quite sure what to expect. Was greeted as soon as I walked in, and was walked through their ordering process. I had looked up their menu beforehand on the website, so I knew what I wanted to try. It's basically make your own ordering system, so you get to choose what to get in your bowl. I went with a bowl with half rice and mixed greens, chicken, cucumber tomato and their red sauce. It was delicious!!!! The bowl was a good size, can tell everything was good quality. I also ordered a Almond Peanut cookie with a Lemonade, it was all great. The cookie was so soft and flavorful. Can not recommend this place enough. I will be going back and taking some friends. Recommend to check out their website beforehand if not knowledgeable in the Moroccan cuisine, their site describes what everything is and what's in it. read more

While I am still obsessed with the balanced and tasty selection something like a Sweetgreen offers - Zoa does an excellent job at challenging the preconception that a healthy lunch has to come in the form of greens. I tried a plate with Meatballs and Merguez, along with 5-6 of the side dishes/dips. The meatballs the sausage were both extremely flavorful, and amongst the side dishes, sweet potatoes, the onion confit, the eggplant and the cucumber/tomato salads were the standouts. The bread on the side, while flavorful could have been a little softer - but still served as an excellent sauce delivery vehicle! read more

This place is amazing the food and Francisco is the best. The style is like chipotle but all of the ingredients have flavor. The lamb is amazing and all of the halla if that matters to you. The biscotti is also the best desert there hands down with the tres leches in a close second. I eat here at least twice a week and have never waited more then five minutes for my food I 1000% recommend it. read more

While the 6 faves are all wonderful and the desserts are delectable, the staff and service is above par. This is my first Yelp review. I decided to write after taking only one bite of my food - it is that good. Zoa is a fantastic establishment serving fresh, delicious and healthy Moroccan food that rivals any I've ever had. They were open tonight when most of this city is without power or water - the only restaurant open in Washington Avenue. Everyone there was friendly and they were working their tails off despite being an unbelievably tiring position during this snow storm. I got the beef tagine bowl with rice, cabbage, carrots, garbanzo bean salad, feta and goat cheese, Zoa green sauce and one other ingredient (that I can't remember because I ate it so quickly). The tagine was perfectly tender and sized, each side brought opened up the possibilities of where this bowl could go. The green sauce was just spicy enough to burn your mouth, but only long enough for you to plan your next bite. If I could go back and get it all again right now I would. Every ingredient added flavor that I never knew I was missing in my life. The portions were perfect, and at $9-11 the value is unrivaled. Although I found this place by chance, I can't imagine living my life going forward without going at least twice a week. Well done! read more

I wish I would've taken a picture of my meal, but unfortunately, I didn't because the food looked and smelled delicious so I ate it immediately. This place is amazing, healthy and super affordable. I appreciate the variety of options they have, with bowls and sandwiches. Both my husband and I created our own bowls. He's doing Whole 30 so it was easy to accommodate. I'm pregnant, so I loaded mine up. I loved the rice base, and beef was tender and flavorful. I got the Zoa Green Harissa as the sauce and it was SPICY, good flavor, but spicy, so next time I get it, I will be mindful of that. Overall, delicious, affordable, filling meal that you won't regret. Can't wait to go back and try some desserts! read more

The only two entrees I could see were a falafel plate and a cheese pida for vegetarians. I opted for the the cheese pida and a salad as I felt like my dinner needed some vegetables. The salad was plain tasting consisting of a lemon based dressing and cubes of tomato, cucumber, bell pepper. The dressing was not strong and I wished it had more flavor. I took it home and added my own dressing from home the next day. It's unfortunate that they charge an additional $1.50 for feta cheese which would have elevated the salad flavor. The cheese pide was good and a very large portion size. I wish there were some vegetables added however. The dough was delicious. Istanbul grill does make good bread. The pita bread was also good, very soft, and tasted fresh. It was busy on a Saturday night. Decor is minimal inside and ambiance was family friendly. Most of the tables were families with children. I will note that the interior was on the warmer side for a November night. Overall likely would not return just because of limited vegetarian food.

Absolutely in love with the options for someone who's trying to go low-carb. It being only my second time in I was a little overwhelmed with the choices, until both of the servers available for the night pointed us towards a daily 2for special they have. Gotta say, I'm glad my hunger hit me when it did and I just so happened to be nearby (as if I didn't willingly go through all the detours with the construction going on Shepherd at the moment) The only thing I regret was not catching the employees names to thank them for recommending the Moroccan pancake and the coconut macaroon! read more
