    Cheese free gluten free pizza
    Elisa G.

I came in to pick up dinner so I chose the gluten-free cheese chicken pizza. $30 Cheese free gluten free pizza looks good! Olivia is very sweet and made me feel like my order wasn't totally weird or special needs lol

The pizza was good. It would have probably tasted better if it wasn't cold but that was my fault. It took a while to find parking at the beach so it got cold. The staff were super friendly and the restaurant was clean.

Pets aren't allowed inside restaurants, and "locals" are not above the rules.

I used to love coming to this place until what happened last time we were there. This event I'm describing below took place before the mask mandate at restaurants was lifted. Already at the entrance, there were signs requiring the use of masks. Even the employee told us to wear masks (which we did). However, as we were waiting, I noticed that the employee would allow other customers to come in without wearing masks. And by customers, I don't mean one random individual who orders and sits outside. I mean... a huge family of 8-10 people coming in all at the same time. By then, we were eating inside the restaurant (obviously, without masks) while this group of people made their order. Not cool, but ooookay. Couple of minutes later, a lady comes in without a mask and with her dog. (Yes, inside the restaurant). She then sits to eat her slices at the table with her dog on her lap. Last time I checked, pets were not allowed in restaurants. Not only it was bothersome that the dog was yapping every 5 seconds, but it was a clear violation of the health and safety code. I approached the employee to ask him why they were allowing some people to come inside without wearing masks. When all of the sudden, the lady with the dog jumped into the conversation and began yelling at me. She was upset that I was questioning the fact that some people were allowed to come in without wearing a mask (again, I was talking to the employee, not her). She even yelled at me the following: "Get out of MY town! Go back to the town you came from!" Her yelling escalated quickly, so I pulled out my phone to record her just in case. And in case you were wondering, I never said a word to her. She continued yelling us to leave (though she ain't the owner) to the point where she ended up pushing me and trying to pull my phone off my hand. Yup! She's ready for the Maury show! Though her behavior is clearly independent to the business, the fact that nobody cared to enforce basic health rules is a huge concern. Nobody from Z pizza asked her to stop yelling, to calm down or to leave when she was disruptive to others nor to wear a mask or to leave the dog outside. From allowing a non-service dog to come in and sit at the table to letting many customers come in without their masks while the mask mandate is in full force (Like it or not, agree or disagree, believe or not believe, those are the rules) is unacceptable, careless, and discriminatory. A huge disappointment!

The brunch menu was limiting, with only a few egg dishes, sandwiches, and breads. The French toast and waffle were nearly $20 each despite the small portions and standard toppings. *French Toast: the worst item of the meal. The bread had no flavor or egginess and left a strange sandy mouthfeel. The interior was so dry that it soaked up all the moisture in my mouth. A poor showing for a classic French toast. *Waffle: the batter was slightly sweetened but felt too dense. The fruit was fresh, although nothing about the toppings or overall quality stood out. *Steak Frites: hanger steak topped with chimichurri and fries. It was supposed to come with bernaise sauce, but I did not receive any. The steak leaned closer to rare rather than the medium rare I asked for. However, it was still tender, and the chimichurri was vibrant and herbaceous. I wished more sauce had been applied, as the dish was a bit dry. The fries were decent, though I would have preferred more crunch. Given the long wait, I expected much more from the dishes in terms of flavor and execution. I was disappointed by how flavorless and dry everything was.

The interaction with staff to either just receive a smile or ability to ask questions about the food/processes goes a long way- especially in this digital dominance era. Though, the staff of the space (not Talo) were friendly. There is one female (didn't catch her name but she's a petit brunette ) that was great! So The Colony did well at hiring job at hiring her. 2. Second critique- lack of flavor. This is the reason for the minus one star. Please don't offer tacos if the food isn't going to have the delicious flavor and spices that Mexican cuisine has. The meat was under-seasoned and lacking the complex mix of ingredients not only in the meat but also the salsa. The salsa also had a off texture. If you take on a culture's food, and you are not of that heritage, please please please master the flavor. Or create dishes of your own heritage that better represents the flavor of the plate so consumers aren't misled on what to expect - flavorwise. Other than that, love & appreciate everything else about this business. Especially after googling them and seeing more of their business operations and values. From the quality of the ingredients - organic, grassfed, seed oil free- to the minimal plastic exposure. Really appreciate it. The price point, considering the quality of ingredients, is fair. They also don't display the quiche, instead they hide the quiche in the back so it just kinda feels deceptive. To make matters worse, the quiche itself was somewhat dry. For $10, I expected a 4" quiche and a better overall experience. I was genuinely excited to try this place and had high hopes, which made the experience even more disappointing.
