We came in here for dinner tonight and I was skeptical since our first experience was just mediocre. Where are all these people eating, Long Island?? Chris is a great waiter and he gets all three stars The food is just average and the ambience is so 1960s. I'm not sure why this restaurant is popular. Would I come back here, definitely not for the pasta or the vibes. Maybe they need to do a renovation and update the music because no one wants to listen to Frank Sinatra, this is 2025. Wake up and modernize and roll with the changes.

My cousin and I went out for a birthday dinner, we really wanted to check out a pizza spot nearby, but unfortunately we couldn't get reservations and the wait was too long till closing. So we decided to check out Luciana's Ristorante nearby, and it was pretty good backup. The ambiance definitely has the feel of a classy sit-down Italian restaurant, so it was perfect for a special occasion. The drinks were strong, and the food was mostly pretty good. They did run out of the seabass and one of the pastas was very salty (Penne Puttanesca), but the wait staff was very kind and understanding. The melanzane rollatini, garlic bread, and rigatoni pesto were amazing, I highly recommend all of those as an app, side, and main (respectively). Another wonderful surprise, was the flourless chocolate cake, it's their signature dessert, and it makes sense after you try it! It was extremely rich and very decadent, more of a dark chocolate vibe, but still very dessert like and delicious of course! We recently attended a dinner presentation at Luciana's Ristorante. The restaurant is very old as well as their decorations. Everything looks so antique. It located more towards the ocean part of Dana Point but no ocean view. Food was good and service was just okay. But to be fair, we were a large group of almost 30 people so I know it isn't easy to serve everyone perfectly, especially during a presentation. Both, my husband and I had the bow tie pasta with grilled chicken, mushrooms and artichokes. Everything was good, just need a bit more chicken as it was mostly pasta. The person next to me had the eggplant with pasta and he finished it all so it must be really good. I also saw the person across from me had chicken parmigiana with spaghetti and the piece of chicken was huge. He also ate it all :) but didn't say a word about it, so I presumed that was also good?

Haven't tried the food yet. So cannot report on that. Will update once it comes. What I can report is that they have a very large sign about pets vs. service animals as the first thing you see walking into the resteraunt. I was curious about its size and verbiage since it felt very intense and I encounter a lot of issues while traveling with mine. I thought perhaps there had been a situation. Before sitting I went up to a manger just to ask and said "wondering about your sign, I have a lot of issues while traveling with my animal so just curious why the tone is so aggressive. His answer was actually very reasonable, after he insulted me. He initially said" well, people who don't actually need service animals are the ones that find it aggressive." ................... I'm guessing he saw the look on my face and changed his tune to tell me he was glad I understood the law, and that actual service animal would be welcome. For everyone's reference, there are two questions they can legally ask you when you enter a business with a service animal. Usually this resolves any issues of fraud or fakes which is why I was curious about the scope of the signage. Additional the animal must obviously be well trained etc. There really was no reason for the insult and apparent defensiveness. So that was disappointing as I was just curious having never seen anything like that before. Oh well. Also, they don't have fresh mint. Update** the food was incredible. No complaints highly recommend. Just maybe don't ask the manager about their sign.

    Sweetheart cutting cake.

We celebrated a wedding reception here and it was all superb! The service was flawless. The lasagna was so delicious. Calamari- wow! Everyone had so much fun!!!! Kathy, the private Dining manager was a breeze to work with and went above and beyond. Joel, the manager understands customer service! Mike and Chris were cheery servers! They met all of our needs. I highly recommend having your event on the patio or even the whole restaurant. They don't charge a room fee or service fee and you add the tip. They did not charge to cut the sweetheart cake to add to the dessert plates. Five star experience, service and food.

We had a lovely dinner at Luciana's! Started off with lemon drop martini + calamari + fresh yummy burrata. Then came the pastas that were so tasty and delicious: my pesto rigatoni with chicken & pine nuts was a good size, just the right amount of creaminess and pasta was al dente; my husband's rigatoni salsiccia was just as tasty with generous servings of sausage, I kept on digging into his plate! Son enjoyed his porchetta as well. Dinner was well-paced, ambience was cozy and festive and service was attentive and friendly. For the quality and location, it was also reasonably priced. We will definitely return!

Marcus the bartender. Excellent, not sweet, not acidic...

I start by looking for locally owned restaurants, in which the staff feels like family. This place hits all the right notes. Dinner was excellent. We went Friday night, and came back Saturday night. A lot of the attraction is the staff. They are wonderful. Have a chat with Donna on the accordian in the bar, and tell Marcus behind the bar exactly what you want, and he will deliver. I had the lasagna one night, the spaghetti bolognese the next. Everything tasted great. We're going back next week. Highly recommended.....

Our "Cheers". You cannot get better service in this state! And the food, absolutely amazing. Creatures of habit, we start with the calamari and although my wife samples all of the delicacies, I stick to the rigatoni salsiccia. Thank you Eder and Linda for always making us feel like we are home!

My wife and I love this spot. We've always lucked out and sat at the bar inside but it is always crowded and last week we weren't lucky so we sat at the bar outside (in the tent). ITS EVEN BETTER!!! We love the bartenders inside and outside! Both are pros. Food as always is awesome. Can't say enough except we go there at least 6 times a year and it never gets old.

A beautiful and elegant restaurant with a wonderful atmosphere. I came in the evening with two friends and we brought our daughters with friends and the experience was lovely! After our girls left, we changed from table to bar. The risotto was excellent and the food overall was delicious. The staff treated us amazingly and made us feel very welcome. It's such a charming place to spend time with friends . We will definitely be back.

Wednesday night, dead quiet. Most of San Juan was a few blocks away at the concert, leaving us with the rare luxury of a peaceful patio and a little breathing room. We found a beautiful bottle of Italian wine, listened carefully to the specials like civilized adults pretending not to already know what we wanted, and split a Caesar to start, solid, classic, no nonsense. Then came the real business. Sylvia went with shrimp and angel hair. The shrimp? Perfectly cooked. That elusive sweet spot so many kitchens miss by a mile. Not rubbery, not underdone. Just right. I went for the Osso Buco, boldly promised to rival my grandmother's. Dangerous claim. But they backed it up. Deep, rich, slow-cooked soul food, the kind of dish that tastes like somebody's been standing over it all day, caring. They even brought the marrow spoon, which tells you everything you need to know about intent. Food? Five stars. Wine? Five stars. If I'd tweak anything, it's the details. The waiter and bartender were both in oversized black T-shirts with the logo. Functional, sure, but swap those for black collared shirts and the room instantly feels more polished. The patio could use a little love too. Nothing dramatic. Just tighten it up. Because in this business, especially now, the margins between good and unforgettable are razor thin. Crivello's already has the hard part nailed. A little sharper presentation, and they're dangerous.

Then, had to try the desserts, we were set on spumoni, but the waiter recommended the chocolate cake. It was served with vanilla ice cream, yum. The chocolate was moist had walnuts and like a brownie and not too rich either. Perfect! Certainly will be going back here and bringing the pup with us. We usually walk around the beachy area and by the time they text you, you've literally built an appetite. A line only exists because people keep coming back, and after multiple visits, I can honestly say the quality has remained consistently exceptional. Whipped Ricotta- The ricotta was creamy, light, and fresh with a clean dairy flavor. Combined with olive oil, fresh tomatoes, lemon, balsamic, pepper, and served with toasted garlic bread, every bite was balanced and flavorful. Make sure each scoop gets a little bit of everything. You will definitely appreciate how well all the flavors come together. Umami Mushroom Pizza- The white sauce paired well with the provola cheese, mushrooms, green onions, sesame seeds, and bonito flakes. The savory and earthy flavors was amazing. Then there was the crust. It was light, airy, and crispy. You can literally hear the crunch with every bite. The Crispy Pepperoni Pizza- The charred pepperoni had crisp edges that added just the right texture, while the basil and extra virgin olive oil kept everything fresh and balanced. Again, the consistency with the crust was also airy, light, and crispy. You can tell this spot doesn't cut corners. The quality of the ingredients stands out in every dish, but the real masterpiece is the dough. I've eaten pizzas all over Southern California, and I've never had crust like this. It's light, crisp, and pizza is overall flavorful. After one bite, it's easy to understand why their pizza has earned so much recognition. One detail I really appreciated was that even with only two slices left, they still boxed up our leftovers in one of their signature pizza boxes complete with reheating instructions from the chef. It's a small touch, but it shows they care just as much about your last slice as your first. The ambiance ties everything together. The lemon trees decorating both levels create a bright and welcoming place. It's the kind of place where you want to linger. Truly Pizza has become one of those places I confidently recommend to anyone looking for outstanding pizza. Quality ingredients, unforgettable dough, and great service.

There was about 15 of us in attendance and being my mom is 81 years old and I have a disability we were unable to sit at the high top tables that were arranged for our luncheon. Mind you we got there early a 12pm lunch on a Saturday. There were only three other tables being used. We asked to sit at a regular table (just my mom & I). I explained the situation and the "manager" did not want to accommodate us. We tried to get on the high chairs and couldn't. We were either going to stand or need to leave. The manager could care less. The graduates mom stepped in and tried to reason and was treated so rudely by this manager. Eventually the bartender or busboy accommodated us and we sat at a small side table. Not before the manager told the graduates mom that because of that she would be taking a high top table away because we took a side table. Omg. It was so embarrassing to see this unfold. Coming from a family of restaurant owners this should have never happened. Just for the mere fact that the ADA could easily be brought in to this due to the lack of accommodations for a person with disabilities. I can't even start about the food. The quality is pretty poor. Nothing tasted fresh. It was mediocre at best. The best items were the salads. Oh and when asked for bread or some sort of bread service. We were denied and told we do not have bread for sale. An Italian restaurant and no bread. I chuckled at first thinking the waiter was trying to be funny. He just walked away. We never were checked on and left to get up and refill my own water and get my own fork. I understand that the owners are out of state but they really need to retrain their staff and check in on their food quality as well as accommodations for those with disabilities. I will never recommend this place or ever return. Homeslice (Dana Point, CA): Founded and owned by local residents Fisher and Kegan.
