Now I understand why Z'Tejas has went bankrupt. It is so sad and unfortunate because Z's was my go to spot back in the day! However now, I will never, ever step foot in this place again. About a year ago, I gave them a pass when they "accidentally" charged a $50 tip on my card. The tip was originally $5 for one happy hour priced Chamboard. How could that be an "accident"? Shrugs, but I let it slide. Today I ordered Hand Guac and Salsa to go. That was it. Can someone explain to me how one can get that order wrong?!?? There was no salsa, guacamole was the serving size of a to-go ranch cup for $15 and the shell to serve the guac in was missing. I called the restaurant to advise and the gentleman was like, oh I know. I have all the stuff right here. I was trying to catch your husband. Mind you, how do you get guac and salsa wrong to where my husband would have to be caught?!? My husband ended up taking it back. Mind you, we live far from Z's. When he gets there, they try to insult his intelligence by trying to give him a 2oz serving of salsa. My husband requested to speak to the manager. At first, the manager was condescending until my husband asked for our money back. However, the manager then apologized and made the order how it should've been made in the first place. But also said this was the only time he would do it because their serving sizes are proportioned. If that's the case, their serving size is not worth the money. VALLE LUNA on Ray and Dobson is where it's at for Happy Hour, price, taste and bang for your buck!! Z's isn't going to last. Especially after trying to recoup from that bankruptcy and now I understand why. They just can't get it right. Not to mention, the guac did not taste how their guac use to taste. read more

I had a party of 13 and made a reservation a few days before by walking in. It was super easy and fast. They even confirmed by text a day before. We were initially worried about whether we'd be able to hear each other being seated so close to the kitchen, but that was absolutely no problem. I finally went for dinner once night and discovered they have the best margaritas in the World...yes world! Anyway great happy hours, good specials on Tuesday and yummy brunch options. The manager of this location is super friendly and accommodating. This past Sunday, he spent ten minutes chatting with us about Green Bay Football. All the staff are friendly. Beyond disappointed by the remodel. It looks terrible and has the atmosphere and personality of a fast-food restaurant. There are now giant walls of windows with no blinds or curtains, making it hot and uncomfortable with sun shining in your eyes if you sit anywhere near them. Random chairs are just sitting in the middle the restaurant, with no table. WHY? The food was fine and the service meh. Will find somewhere else to go next time which is too bad as I enjoyed occasionally coming here. read more

We had stopped eating here years ago after it became clear that most of the food arrived frozen from a purveyor, but we thought we'd try it again after their huge remodel. It's somehow worse. The food is still marginal (appetizers arrived cold, all entrees were too salty) and the "remodeled" interior consists of beige plastic chairs, bare plastic tables, and plank tile flooring straight out of 2006. I just found out we came here the same time they had just opened Scottsdale. That would've been better route wise for us, but since it wasn't on Yelp or anywhere else, we thus came here. But now, it was pretty empty, granted we came here about 3pm for HH. And for HH, you can have that in the dining area in addition to the bar area. Some staff were masked, some were not. Service here was decent, definitely had more than enough staff at 3pm on the floor. Food wise, it came out sporadically. The main reason why we came here is because I missed this place when it was in California before the new company took over. It was delicious, it was fun, and we came almost every single week. It did help that it was located inside a mall, our favorite mall South Coast Plaza. If you haven't been, make a trip there to do some shopping and terrific dining in the area. Back to this place: We ordered a few HH items like the salsa trio- (tasted nothing like I remembered), the chile pork verde were not HH anymore, but they were tasty. Was bummed they were out of yucca fries. The catfish beignets wee good, but just tasted like catfish strips. Nothing beignets about it. The best items here is still their $5 margaritas. Sure, it comes out of a machine but where can you get a nice frosted version that has enough alcohol that keeps you happy? Even one with the chambord version? Superb. Don't bother with the diablo pasta or the dos fried tamales. One was cold, the other one was hard. We knew we weren't coming back here again regardless since we live 400+ miles away but we ordered over $100 worth of food that we have missed. One of the best places in Arizona! I brought my wife here for our first date in over 4 years. This was an amazing experience. I highly recommend visiting during brunch. My wife is a Mexican immigrant and it is very hard to find a goof Mexican restaurant for her, she fully approved. The food was fresh and tasted amazing. The service was on point. Our glasses were never dry. My wife and I will be returning for many times to come. We will very easily be the new frequent flyers of this amazing restaurant. The food was amazing I started eating the mushroom enchiladas and couldn't stop they taste like heaven in your mouth. I couldn't stop moaning in the yummy food way this is one of the most flavorful meals I have had in a long time. The nachos looked fabulous I would get that next time. All the apps were good but queso, ceviche and catfish were the best. Avoid margaritas, unless you like sugary drinks. Had family in town. First time here in over ten years. Adam was terrific and made the whole meal experience worth it. We had a large party (six adults, two infants, one of which a toddler) and he had the seating all arranged perfectly. His knowledge of the menu and reccomendations were excellent and his love of food, his craft and CUSTOMER SERVICE were what you would expect at a fine dining resturant. Had dinner at Z Tejas on Valentine night 2025 with my cousins and friends. I have eaten there before in the past. I noticed that there had been some upgrades and changes since the last time I ate at Z's Tejas. The mural inside the restaurant is beautiful. It makes the large eating room not feel more homey. In our group, we ordered the catfish appetizers, the salsa trio with the guacamole, mushroom, enchiladas, fajitas, and combination fajitas. The state fajitas was absolutely delicious. The meat was cooked to a medium rare. All athe food was delicious. Our server, Sydney, did an excellent job. She had mentioned she had only been there for three weeks, which I was very surprised. She knew the menu and when we asked for clarification, she did a great job. Adam, who I believe might have been a manager, was very helpful. Originally, we were going to have a table that was closer to the kitchen. I requested a booth seat and he was very accommodating. The food was piping hot. Ambience and drinks were great. There was a little hiccup with our reservation. But it was taken care of. All in all, dining at Z tejas was excellent. They have a lovely bar. The snapper was good but too much breading, tacos were good, voodoo tuna was way over cooked and sauce was solidified on the plate from sitting in the window under heat lamps too long. My relleno was good but in old days it had more zing. It just doesn't seem as Tex mex as it used to be. **Biggest issue is they have no window blinds/screens on the entire north side so late afternoon early evening the sun is blasting thru- absolutely ridiculous- I'm guessing the owners ran out of money on their remodel- the servers are frustrated w/ it too. read more

I was at Z' Tejas Saturday night. My experience was excellent. The greeter or hostess, JoAnn, was friendly, accommodating and so nice. Our waiter, Tyler, was perfect and really tended to our needs. Our entrees were delicious and there was not a long wait for our food while we sipped on a well mixed and flavorful Margarita. Upon leaving, we spoke to Adam, the manager who really seems to understand what managing that establishment is all about. He has made a huge difference in the restaurant and has brought about a positive change which was sorely needed. These three employees need to be recognized. We had a large work group and our server handled it with ease. He brought out 3 cornbreads for the table and everyone loved them. We ordered a few appetizers: quesadillas and table side guac. It was awesome that they had the option to add fresh veggies instead of chips for those trying to eat healthy! For my entree, I ordered the crispy salmon with double veggies instead of rice. It comes with a crab and avocado salad piled on top. The salmon crust was crispy, and thankfully not dry. I loved the vinaigrette that all over the plate. The veggies were string zucchini, squash, carrots and green beans. They were a perfect pairing. Everyone else in our large group also loved their meals. The drinks were also very refreshing and would order more! Although the service here is ver very slow, not attentive enough. Not a lot of people here on a Saturday night. Well, we originally set out to have dinner across the street at another location, however, the hostess was not very nice nor accommodating which ultimately lead us to this fine establishment. Now to be fair, they were not too crowded, however, we were given options to sit and treated very well. Our waiter was very friendly, professionally and went above and beyond to accommodate or eating options as some of our party has food allergies while others have personal preferences that although they are reasonable, our waiter was kind enough to double check with the cooks on. The food was delicious and the atmosphere is very open with ample seating options. A full bar. Now I should warn you, that entrance is a massive door, at 1st it looked like a giant window that threw me off for a minute.
