A wonderful Family-owned Italian restaurant better known for having some of the BEST pizza in the DFW area for years. It's not some glamorous polished chain restaurant but small "pizza joint" in an old strip center. Consistently good NY style pizza whole or by the slice...no bacon toppings available. We've been eating here for over 10 years receive requests to bring The Works Pizza to watch parties and birthday parties we attend. Yes it's good pizza, chicken, manicotti, awesome yummy calzones, great great tiramisu and darn good cannolis. The garlic bread knots and cheese bread are worth the carbs. We dipped them in marinara sauce. So good. You have to pay cash or check on delivery. I'm okay giving a good generous tip to the driver. In this case I called in my order for direct for delivery and added the service fees and other fees into the tip. read more

Our friends recommended this place to us when we moved to Rowlett and its close by so we just walked in, ordered and waited for it. No idea on the phone service but its a small business and I am sure they have a limited number of people on their staff to take orders. Would suggest walk in and order the Zuko's #1 with obviously fresh mozzarella off a round(not shredded cheese), very fresh tomatoes and spinach too. You do have the option to make your own too. A 14" medium cost around $16 which is not bad compared to other places in town. They also have calzone and dessert options. Remember to bring cash to the counter, the closest ATMs are up on highway 66 and this place is a few blocks from one of the bridges that takes you Garland. Closed on Mondays read more

Came highly recommended as a NY style pizza. As a NYer I was quite impressed. I asked for an XL plain well done just like I ordered when I lived in NY. Got it home and we were so hungry we ate 2/3 of the pie and were full. Not sure if it was THAT good or we were just starving. The next day we had 2 slices left over and I put them in the regular oven at 350 for about 15 so it was "Well done" like I like it and it was just like NY! Hallelujah! Just need to tell them next time "Well done" is when the crust is crispy and the cheese is a little brown. Then it should be perfect. At least for us. Thanks guys! I'm a fan! read more

Looking for a pizza dive with a-mazing Italian food? Zuko's is worth checking out. We had righteous pizza, some of the BEST lasagna I've ever had (and certainly the best in the DFW area) and some of their addictive garlic rolls and marinara. Living in McKinney, we don't get out to Rowlett all that much - and more's the pity, because we'd have discovered Zuko's sooner. A little hole in the wall in a Tony strip mall that's seen better days, you'd be tempted to give it a pass - and in so doing, you'd miss out on a hidden secret/culinary treasure. This is the best New York style pizza around Texas. It does not disappoint. The XL is enough for 3-4 adults, which includes slices the size of my forearm. Thin crust, cooked perfectly, and delicious. They also do half/half. We've had their garlic knots & cheese bread, which are good/average. And the side Caesar is large enough to split between 2 adults. Some things to know before you go, Zuko's is closed on Mondays and the only forms of payment they accept are checks and cash. It is set up primarily for carryout and delivery but if you choose to dine in there are exactly 4 booths. 3 four tops and 1 two top. There are no fountain drinks or brewed ice tea just a cooler with cans and bottled beverages including 2 liter bottles of soda. Just a heads up, no restroom in sight in the small dining area in the establishment. I really like the food here and I love it that they sell pizza by the slice. A slice of cheese pizza is $2.50 and each topping is 30¢ each. Or you can buy "The Works" by the slice for $3.65 and it comes with pepperoni, sausage, hamburger, mushrooms and black olives and it's delicious. I have also tried the Penne Rigate Caccatore, $9.95 and it was really good but I definitely would have liked more Italian sausage in the dish. The prices are super reasonable and the food is good.
